• Error while trying to reverse a char array

  Hi, I'm trying to get better at C++ (I know a little). I'm working on character arrays. I found an exercise where the objective is to reverse a character array (after I convert it from an integer). I'm getting the following error (using VS2005): Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'revBuffer' was corrupted. When I step through the code, I notice the following: revBuffer = 0x0012fe40 "100899ÌÌÌÌÌÌÌÌÌÌ998001" The relevant code is below. char buffer[5]; char revBuffer[5]; int i; int j=5; long number = 998001; itoa(number, buffer, 10); for(i=0; i<strlen(buffer);i++) { revBuffer[j] = buffer[i]; j--; } Any help would be great. • How is this regex wrong?

  I have a regex which I'm using to match user functions inside an IDE (Sublime). This matches what I want (the function name itself), but it also matches the first parentheses. Therefore the match is like follows: this._myFunction('content'); Notice the opening paran. Here is my expression: (?:[^\._])?([\w-]+)(?:[\(]){1} How can I exclude the opening paran from getting matched? . As a bonus question: How can I successfully not match the string: function, because as you can expect function( matches (not fun in JS). Thank you to anyone who can assist.

• Autoplaynig video/image gallery - with a catch

  Looking for a (jQuery) video/image gallery to implement on my website, I've found many freely available option. However, I need one that, when in "autoplay" mode and gets to a video file, automatically plays an entire file, and only then moves on to the next image/video. Similar to what Picasaweb are doing when you ask to autoplay an online gallery of your images/videos. I have found, for example, this plugin: http://www.yoxigen.com/yoxview/. Notice that images 6 & 8 are actually video feeds, but when in autoplay mode, are treated just like any other image, i.e. - displayed for a few seconds then moves on to the next file... not what I need. • No route matches - after login attempt - even though the route exists?

  I am working on a rails application and added a simple login system according to a book. I created the controller admin: rails generate controller admin login logout index It added the following routes to routes.db get "admin/login" get "admin/logout" get "admin/index" I can got to http://localhost:3000/admin/login there is no problem at all. But when I try to login I get: No route matches "/admin/login"! Now, the first confusing part is that the "login" method of my AdminController is not executed at all. The second confusing part is that this code works like a charm - redirects everything to /admin/login: def authorize unless User.find_by_id(session[:user_id]) flash[:notice] = "you need to login" redirect_to :controller => 'admin', :action => 'login' end end Sidenotes: I restarted the server several times. I tried a different browser - to be sure there is no caching problem.

• jquery get width of previous image

  So i cant get the jquery correct for this one, whatever i try it returns the wrong width. I wish to make the image within the "img-shadow" div the same size as the image right before it. Notice this will repeat several times on the page. <p> <img src="" alt=""> <div class="img-shadow"> <img src="" alt=""> </div> </p> I hope you don't shake your heads too much on at me on this one, it seems super simple, but .prev .find .closest hasn't worked for me. • Generate multiple attribute?

  ATM i cant quiet imagine how this will work. I'm sure it can be done. I notice a pattern use in my attribute where i always use 3 specific attributes together. Take the below as an example [MyAttr(4, @"a"), MyAttr(41, "b"), MyAttr(45, "ab")] Mine is much more complicated but i would like to define one attribute with more params to generate the data above. How might i do that? Lets say my one attribute will look like this MyAttr2(4, 41, "a", "b"); //4+41=45, "a"+"b" = "ab" How might i generate the 3 MyAttr to apply to a class using MyAttr2?

• Is this a valid C statement ?

  Lets say I write char c[99] = {'Stack Overflow'}; in C or C++ it does compiles fine but does this valid? By valid I meant not invoking any kind of undefined or unspecified behavior. Again if I write char c[99] = 'Stack Overflow'; gcc complains about multicharacter constant which is obvious but in the above when I am enclosing within curly brackets compiler is happy! why is it so ? I also notice that puts(c); after the first statement will output 'w' precisely the last character of a general string in-place of Stack Overflow. why so ? Could somebody explain this behavior may be separately.

  Hello SO! I am working on a small project and am playing with date() and mktime() in PHP. Compare the two code blocks and their output, notice the second sample adds one to the month in it's first mktime. $monthis = 5; echo date('F', mktime(0,0,0,$monthis,0,0)) . " 1, 2010 is on a " . date("l F", mktime(0, 0, 0, $monthis, 1, 2010)); puts out April 1, 2010 is on a Saturday May but if I change it to $monthis = 5; echo date('F', mktime(0,0,0,$monthis + 1,0,0)) . " 1, 2010 is on a " . date("l F", mktime(0, 0, 0, $monthis, 1, 2010)); puts out May 1, 2010 is on a Saturday May Why do I have to add one to the month in the first mktime so that both emit the same month? Any help or clarity would be appreciated. Thanks :)

• Hyphen and &nbsp; differences between Firefox and other browsers

  Firefox and seems to render a hyphen followed by   differently to other browsers. Here is some test code that demonstrates the problem: <html> <body> <div style="border: 1px solid blue;width: 50px"> This text can break. Do&nbsp;not&nbsp;-&nbsp;break&nbsp;this&nbsp;text. </div> </body> </html> Notice how in Firefox the second sentence does not break, but in Chrome and IE it breaks at the hyphen. Does anyone know a good workaround so that the break does not occur?

• Detecting when Javascript is performing poorly

  I'm working on a webapp in jquery that, on older machines or machines without much resources, may perform poorly. To get around this I'd like to make a degraded version that disables some of the features, particularly those that rely on large images. How can I tell if my app is running poorly on the user's computer in jquery or javascript in general? I just need a way to call a function that will degrade the app. (especially when the user may run low on system memory) The only way I can think of is for manual user intervention, but the option would add clutter for users that don't need it and users that do need it may not notice it. • DatePicker with ShowUpDown set to true

  I set the datepicker ShowUpDown to true. I notice that every time it reaches JANUARY of the following year it is throwing an error. Year, Month, and Day parameters describe an un-representable DateTime. reading on MSDN, it says that month should be between 1 and 12. So my guess is after the month of December, which is 12, when a user increase it again it will become 13, hence, throwing an error. Is is possible to loop this? From December(12) to January(1) instead of increasing it to 13.

  I have a 'users' table which stores all of my websites users, some of which are technicians. The users table has a 'first_name' and 'last_name' field as well as other fields. The other table is called 'service_tickets' which has a foreign key from users called technician_id. This gives me a real problem because when I am looking at the service_tickets table, the related user is actually a technician. That's why the service_tickets table has a technician_id and not a user_id field. I am trying to accomplish something like this: t = service_ticket.find_by_id(7) t.technician.first_name # notice how I don't do t.user.first_name Is this possible in rails? I can't seem to get it to work... Thank you for your help!

What just happened here??? Heartbeat on node04 stopped and told node03, which was the active node at the time. Somehow, node03 decided to start the cluster processes that were already running. (For the processes that are not critical, I always return a 0 from the startupscript so it does not stops the entire cluster when a non-essential part fails.) When starting ActiveMQ, it returns status 1 because it is already running. This fails the node and shuts everything down. As heartbeat is not running on the secondary node, it cannot failover to there. When I tried to run ha_takeover to restart the resources, absolutely nothing happened. Only after I restarted heartbeat on the primary node the resources could be started (after a delay of 2 minutes). These are my questions: Why does heartbeat on the primary node try to start the cluster processes again? Why did ha_takeover not work? What can I do to prevent this from happening?
