    I have source in a bunch of subdirectories like: src/widgets/apple.cpp src/widgets/knob.cpp src/tests/blend.cpp src/ui/flash.cpp In the root of the project I want to generate a single Makefile using a rule like: %.o: %.cpp $(CC) -c $< build/test.exe: build/widgets/apple.o build/widgets/knob.o build/tests/blend.o src/ui/flash.o $(LD) build/widgets/apple.o .... build/ui/flash.o -o build/test.exe When I try this it does not find a rule for build/widgets/apple.o. Can I change something so that the %.o: %.cpp is used when it needs to make build/widgets/apple.o ?

  • Cannot chown my own files from NFS

    We have a NFS server provide home directory for many account, which provided by a NIS server. I have account A and B. In /home/A, I try to copy "cp -a /home/B/somedir ~/". Then I found in /home/A/somedir, all files are owned by user A. Then if I do "chown -R B:B somedir", I got "Operation not permitted" error. I am user A, "cp -a" didn't preserve the original user (B). Then I cannot chown my own files. Any suggestion? I fix my own issue by "chmod 777 /home/A", "su - B" and "cp -a somedir /home/A/", and "su - A", then "chmod 755 /home/A". But it is not a good solution.

  • What are the best security measures to take for making certain directories private?

    I have a directory on my server that I do not want Search Engines to crawl and I already set this rule in robots.txt I do want people that have logged in to be able to have access to this directory without having to enter a password or anything. I am thinking that a cookie is the best thing to put on users computers after they login, and if they have a cookie, they can access the directory. Is this possible, or is there a better way? I want people without this cookie to not have access to this directory - access for members only Any suggestions on the best design for this?

    I'm using google blogger. I want to ad thumbnail images of different classes I will be offering in my home film/video/sound/lighting studio. The idea is the prospective student visits my website, sees a class they want to take, clicks the thumbnail so first read a descriptive article about the class, at which point they can schedule the class for the time, day, and date of their choosing between the hours of 5am to 9pm, 365 days a year. As soon as the student has inputed the time, day and date of the class they want, they would go to a check out page to purchase the class time. The student would then be sent an email confirmation along with the exact location, the class name, and the time and date they selected. I was thinking of using Dwolla for the check out page because Dwolla offers either no fee or 25 cents per payment transaction, but I'm not sure I can hook up to them easily enough. My blog site is not finished by a longshot. I still have to actually input all of the class thumbnail images along with descriptions, but if you need to see what the page looks like the web address is http://www.myalexlogic.com Google blogger allows for third party code to be added within movable gadgets.

  • How would I sort files to directories based on filenames?

    I have a huge number of files to sort all named in some terrible convention. Here are some examples: (4)_mr__mcloughlin____.txt 12__sir_john_farr____.txt (b)mr__chope____.txt dame_elaine_kellett-bowman____.txt dr__blackburn______.txt These names are supposed to be a different person (speaker) each. Someone in another IT department produced these from a ton of XML files using some script but the naming is unfathomably stupid as you can see. I need to sort literally tens of thousands of these files with multiple files of text for each person; each with something stupid making the filename different, be it more underscores or some random number. They need to be sorted by speaker. This would be easier with a script to do most of the work then I could just go back and merge folders that should be under the same name or whatever. There are a number of ways I was thinking about doing this. parse the names from each file and sort them into folders for each unique name. get a list of all the unique names from the filenames, then look through this simplified list of unique names for similar ones and ask me whether they are the same, and once it has determined this it will sort them all accordingly. I plan on using Perl, but I can try a new language if it's worth it. I'm not sure how to go about reading in each filename in a directory one at a time into a string for parsing into an actual name. I'm not completely sure how to parse with regex in perl either, but that might be googleable. For the sorting, I was just gonna use the shell command: `cp filename.txt /example/destination/filename.txt` but just cause that's all I know so it's easiest. I dont even have a pseudocode idea of what im going to do either so if someone knows the best sequence of actions, im all ears. I guess I am looking for a lot of help, I am open to any suggestions.     Actually i am trying to make a PHP MVC like application. A basic one. The current milestone i am reaching already includes: Basic RESTful Routing Means, if i type: www.example.com/items/book/8888 .. it properly just stays there as it is and i can already slice out the URL by slashes / and loads the responsible Controllers .... etc from the top single index.php file. I mean, so it is OK for the backend PHP. But the only problem is, it still CAN NOT process the REWRITES properly. For example, the CSS & JS are BROKEN as if i VIEW PAGE SOURCE of the page www.example.com/items/book/8888, the asset files are being called as: www.example.com/items/book/8888/css/main.css www.example.com/items/book/8888/js/jquery.js .. which really are PROBLEMS because in the code is like: <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="all" href="css/main.css"> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.js"></script> So the question is: How can i use Apache REWRITE (or whatever approach) to make sure every ASSET FILES to be correctly being called from the DOCROOT. For example, if i am in the URL: www.example.com/items/book/8888 My ASSET FILES should still be called as: www.example.com/css/main.css www.example.com/js/jquery.js Or is there any other methods i need to follow?     Hi, I run a LVM setup on a raid1 created by mdadm. md2 is based on sda6 (major:minor 8:6) and sdb6 (8:22). md2 is partition 9:2. The VG on top of md2 has 4 LVs, var, home, usr, tmp. First the problem: While booting it seems as if the device mapper takes the wrong partition for the mapping!     Is there some way to change the permissions recursively on a series of directories without getting a dialog box that pops up and tells me it can't change the permissions on a particular file? I keep getting this dialogs multiple times duing the process of changing permissions: An error occurred while applying security information to: C:\pagefile.sys The process cannot access the file because it is being used another process. Eventually I get so many of them that I start clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar so many times that I accidentally click the cancel button. Also it would be great if I could keep a log of which files it can't change permissions on. Is this possible in Windows 7? Does it have to be done from the command prompt or from powershell?

I want an special identityfile to administer the repositories, so I need to access throught ssh to my own host ussing two different identity keys.   • Windows7 - “The specified network password is not correct.” when the password is in fact correct.

    I have a samba server setup for some time now. It is a Hardware NAS - which unfortunately does not provide access to the Samba logs. (the exact model of the NAS is called Addonics NAS Adapter ) I also have a Windows Vista and a Windows XP machine - from both I am able to map \\192.168.0.20\Smd with no errors ( net use l: \\192.168.0.20\Smd works, after asking for my username and password). I also bought a brand new computer, with Windows 7, and when I try to execute the same exact net use command on it - using the exact same username/password pair, I get a "The specified network password is not correct." message. I also tried mapping from the Windows explorer menu, and got the same error. I synchronized the clocks of the two machines, tried again... and yet the same error persists. So what is really surprising here is that mapping works from WindowXP and Windows Vista machines, but fails from a Windows7 machine using the exact same command and username/password - Anyone has any idea of what could be causing this or how to solve the problem?   • Can WinRT really be used at just the boundaries?

    Microsoft (chiefly, Herb Sutter) recommends when using WinRT with C++/CX to keep WinRT at the boundaries of the application and keep the core of the application written in standard ISO C++. I've been writing an application which I would like to leave portable, so my core functionality was written in standard C++, and I am now attempting to write a Metro-style front end for it using C++/CX. I've had a bit of a problem with this approach, however. For example, if I want to push a vector of user-defined C++ types to a XAML ListView control, I have to wrap my user-defined type in a WinRT ref/value type for it to be stored in a Vector^. With this approach, I'm inevitably left with wrapping a large portion of my C++ classes with WinRT classes. This is the first time I've tried to write a portable native application in C++. Is it really practical to keep WinRT along the boundaries like this? How else could this type of portable core with a platform-specific boundary be handled?
