• Sharepoint 2010 web front end servers and services configuration

  I have a sharepoint insfrastructure where a document library is made available both locally and on the internet. I have a few web front end servers facing the public (in the DMZ) while having another set inside the secured network for internal use. I also have an application server for sharepoint services inside the secured network. My goal is to configure sharepoint in such a way that the sharepoint services are available only locally and not via the internet. The users accessing the system online should not benefit of the sharepoint services. Is this possible on the same farm?

• Secure Apache PHP vhost configuration

  I'm looking to secure some websites running under apache using suexec. At the moment php is executed with the user/group of the file being executed. This seems to me, not secure enough. It stops vhosts interfering with each other, but does not stop malicious code writing anywhere in the vhost being used. I was thinking that a possibility would be to run scripts as nobody/vhost group, that way the vhost user could still have full access to the vhost directories, but executing php would only be able to write to files with g+w, and to execute files with g+x. This I think should stop arbitrary writing in the web dir from compromised php. Just wondering if this is crazy, ridiculous, stupid? Of course this would be done on top of existing security measures.

  I have a computer, running ubuntu, that I want to be connected to the network at all times. It has a GSM modem connected to it via USB. Is there some program available that monitors that the networking is working (by pinging some site(s)), and if not tries to fix the error by reseting the modem, reloading the USB drivers and perhaps by dropping the USB port's current (if possible) to force the modem to reset ?

  I've been able to get this working using XAMP with Apache 2.0.55 and XAMP Apache 2.2.14 without any problems. However, when I attempt to configure our intranet server (Apache 2.0.59), I don't get the same results. The results are that the following variables contain the information desired: $_SERVER["REMOTE_USER"] AND $_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"]. In this case, they are blank. I'm expecting "domain/user_name".   A simple question about rsnapshot. In order to perform daily backups I'm going to add lines to cron in my Ubuntu. • Cisco NAT + IPSec + Web Server Configuration Question

  Hello - I currently have a Cisco 881W, and it is configured with one of our static IPs to do basic NAT for the network. We also have a web server that needs it's own IP. I configured the NAT for the 2nd IP, however now traffic through our IPSec VPN doesn't route to the web server properly (well, it routes to the internet, rather than through the Tunnel). I followed the instructions here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk372/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094634.shtml But now the outbound NAT doesn't seem to be working properly - it keeps going to the NAT of the Cisco, and not the designated IP address.   I did a great deal of reading here before posting this because I didn't want to post a duplicate - but I'm on a bit of a deadline and getting frustrated, so here goes... I very, very, very sincerely apologize if this is long winded or hard to read. Please - please just ask for any information or clarification and I will give it as quickly as I possibly can. This has become very frustrating to me and this is the last place I know to turn. I have no experience with setting up DNS, no experience with nameservers, and no peers to go to for help. So this is kind of my last ditch effort. The task of setting up a private server has, through circumstances beyond my control, fallen into my lap. I own a domain (hereafter referred to as yyy.com) and have always used shared hosting - I buy a package and just point it to the domain nameservers they give me. It's always been simple. yyy.com is registered with network solutions Now I have purchased a Virtual Private Hosting package from GoDaddy.com - and it comes with Plesk 11. I have no earthly idea how to begin to get the right nameserver for yyy.com. I have gone through the instructions and have wound up exceedingly frustrated. I have 2 IP addresses from GoDaddy for the server. This is what I have so far, and I cannot tell if it is working (Since propogation takes so long, it is extremely hard to test for me) IP 1 : XX.XX.XX.XX IP 2 : YY.YY.YY.YY (obviously hidden for privacy) Now after going through the documentation setup and waiting a few days, this is the setup I have - and so far it does not appear to be working. • IIS 7 and ASP.NET State Service Configuration

  We have 2 web servers load balanced and we wanted to get away from sticky sessions for obvious reasons. Our attempted approach is to use the ASP.NET State service on one of the boxes to store the session state for both. I realize that it's best to have a server dedicated to storing sessions but we don't have the resources for that. I've followed these instructions to no avail. The session still isn't being shared between the two servers. I'm not receiving any errors. I have the same machine key for both servers, and I've set the application ID to a unique value that matches between the two servers. Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this issue? Update: I turned on the session state service on my local machine and pointed both servers to the ip address on my local machine and it worked as expected. The session was shared between both servers. This leads me to believe that the problem might be that I'm not using a standalone server as my state service. Perhaps the problem is because I am using the ip address 127.0.0.1 on one server and then using a different ip address on the other server. Unfortunately when I try to use the network ip address as opposed to localhost the connection doesn't seem to work from the host server. Any insight on whether my suspicions are correct would be appreciated.

• IBM BladeCenter S: Disk Configuration

  Have just the one storage bay right now (SAS 15K 600GB x 6) and have configured one storage pool in RAID 10 with 4 disks (and two global spares). For each blade, I've created a volume and mapped accordingly: Blade #1 400 GB Blade #2 200 GB Blade #3 100 GB Blade #4 100 GB When I boot up Blade 1 and enter into the UEFI Setup (F1) followed by the Adapters and UEFI Drivers LSI Logic Fusion MPT SAS Driver Utility, I see 4 disks: two are the on-board 73GB drives, the other two are 200GB each and assume I'm being presented with two logical disks from the volume I created and mapped to this blade. I was a bit surprised by this: I figured I would've been presented with one logical drive per volume, not two. I'm assuming I can just configure whatever RAID level I wish that supports two disks, but not really sure what the benefits/trade-offs here. Should I go with RAID 10 on top of RAID 10? RAID 0? Software RAID 0/1/10? Does it even matter? If this is "normal" to see two disks, then I'm going to likely just do some benchmarking and see if it makes a difference changing the RAID levels (my guess is no); if this is not normal, well, please let me know. :)

  Recently i installed GRUB2, everything is working fine. When my system is started my monitor is showing something like the following "Minimal BASH-Like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename." Press "Esc" key to enter the menu. Boot windows... and when i press the Esc key it then shows the GRUB2 menu showing list of operating systems installed on my system How the remove "Minimal BASH-Like line editing ...." text. I only need this line Press "Esc" key to enter the menu. Boot windows... Note: Both my WindowsXP and Fedora12 are working fine and loading with no problem.

However I am not completely sure that I have configured everything right and do not have the experience to check so I would be very grateful for some advice or just verification that all seems right so far. • Dead drive in LVM/XFS configuration

  I had three drives in LVM: a 2 TB drive and two 1 TB drives (added later). One of the 1 TB drives -- I believe the third one -- has died. Spanning all three drives was an XFS partition. Reading: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/appnote/19386.html I see that one way of handling this is to replace the dead drive and copy the metadata over. However, I am currently not in possession of a 1 TB drive and can not readily acquire one. Given this, what are my options? There was nothing important on the drives (if there was I would have them in RAID 1) but I would not mind attempting a recovery. Is there a simple way of forcing LVM to go with just two drives and NUL out anything else? (So that fsck can do its thing.)

  As a newbie Postfix user, I've gotten so far and now I am stuck with a SMALL problem. I would like to configure my local network servers to send alerts and like using the following: 1) From address: [email protected] 2) From name: Hostname I can get #1 to work fine using smtp_generic_maps The problem is that on my email client, the name is listed as "root" - as in the header shows the following: Date: Sun, 29 Jul 2012 13:21:01 -0400 (EDT) From: [email protected] (root) To: undisclosed-recipients:; I'd like to change it to "From: [email protected] (Zeus)" I imagine that this can be done in the headers_check, but so far I haven't gotten anything to work and before I waste a ton of time trying to get this to work, I'd like to make sure I am on the right track. My aliasing and genericmaps are set up correctly (As far as I can see and know - the results are correct!). I just want to change that last bit in the From field to reflect the hostname. I would also like to add something in the subject of the outgoing messages for easy filtering - something like Subject: [Zeus.domain] - "Original Subject" Any suggestions are much appreciated.   Hi Guys! I installed postfix using sudo yum install postfix postfix-mysql. I'm newbie to mail systems, but I have one AMAZON EC2 instance with a public DNS. I used the public DNS in most cases, when I configured the file main.cf. The public DNS I have is from amazon and it is a long string(ec2-123-34-234-677.....amazon.com). // I configured this on main.cf. I replaced example.com with ec2-123-.......amazon.com myhostname = mail.example.com mydomain = example.com myorigin = $mydomain mydestination = example.com, $transport_maps local_recipient_maps = $alias_maps $virtual_mailbox_maps unix:passwd.byname home_mailbox = Maildir/ How do I test postfix? I just want it to send emails for my web application. I tried to test it with >telnet localhost 25 after I typed in SSH >sudo postfix start. but I recieve the message that telnet command can not be found. I also use the Amazon linux distribution if you want to know. I use it because it is free. What have I done wrong? Are there anymore configurations required pls help!

  I've been testing deployment for a website with some virtual servers. I have most of my deployment steps done via kickstart file (package installation and user creation). However, for MySQL I have to: Run mysql_secure_installation (sets up root password, deletes anonymous users, disallows root login remotely, removes test databases) ./ Then, create the website's databases and the database user. I'm not sure if this is possible in kickstart---especially the prompts in mysql_secure_installation. Perhaps someone has some suggestions or examples?

  I have Options set to none for my webroot directory. I also have a symmlink /var/coderoot - /var/webroot/coderoot In the php script I can do include("/var/coderoot/file"); and it works fine. Regardless of the option (yes I save and restart apache.) Does follow symlinks only apply to symlinks used in a certain way? Is there a performance loss using the include with a symmlink?

  Hi everyone. Currently we are using the Enterprise AV Solution eTrust ITM 8.1. The licenses are running out in october and we are going to replace eTrust with another AV solution. The eTrust Server is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2 with an MS SQL 2000 Standard Edition. The problem is that we've got many different policy - sets which we have to redefine in the new AV solution. Is there any way with eTrust ITM 8.1 to export the different policies as csv, pdf ... whatever?   I have just installed POSTFIX on a Debian box, I pointed the relay host config setting to an exchange server which will deliver the mail to external users. So what I am trying to do is telnet to the debian box and send an email to [email protected] which will then be past to the exchange server for delivery. The problem is I get the following: rcpt to:[email protected] 554 relay access denied I have seen a section in the config "mydestination" but i want the exchange server to decide which domains it will deliver for and not the POSTFIX server.

  Hi there, I've just received an upgraded Host machine, and am looking to push some of those advances to my workstations Guest OS(s). In particular, I used to have a single processor, with 2 cores, so my guestOS only had 1/1. Now, I've got a single processor with 8 cores, so I'm curious about what would be recommended for my GuestOS now? 1 processor/4 cores? 2 processors/2Cores? 4 processors/1 core? My instinct says to stick with the number of physical processors (or less), but, is that based on reality? I spent a good while looking for an answer to this, but perhaps my google-karma isn't in my favor today. Suggestions?
