  I have a little problem: slideHelpers.total = 4 for (i=1;i <= slideHelpers.total; i++) { $('<a href="#">' + i + '</a>').bind('click', function(){ alert('go to the ' + i + ' slide')}).appendTo('.slideaccess') } the alert gives out 5 what is logic, because when the function click triggers i is actually 5. But i would like to have the same i as in my <a> tag. What is the best way to handle this? I could put i in the data() of the <a> tag for example but i am sure there is a easier way.

  Could anyone explain me why in the last lines, br is not recognized as variable? I've even tried putting br in the try clause, setting it as final, etc. Does this have anything to do with Java not support closures? After class FindUserFilter def self.filter(controller) @user = User.find(params[:id]) end end class UsersController < ApplicationController before_filter FindUserFilter end class GuestbookController < ApplicationController before_filter FindUserFilter end This results in an error because neither params[:id] nor @user is available/definable in the FindUserFilter-class. Any idea how to fix this?

  I have a a polygon class which stores a list of Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Vector2 as the vertices of the polygon. Once the polygon is created, I'd like other classes to be able to read the position of the vertices, but not change them. I am currently exposing the vertices through this field: /// <summary> /// Gets the vertices stored for this polygon. /// </summary> public List<Vector2> Vertices { get { return _vertices; } } List<Vector2> _vertices; However you can change any vertex using code like: Polygon1.Vertices[0] = new Vector2(0, 0); or Polygon1.Vertices[0].X = 0; How can I limit other classes to be able to only read the properties of these vertices, and not be able to set a new one to my List? The only thing I can think of is to pass a copy to classes that request it. Note that Vector2 is a struct that is part of the XNA framework and I cannot change it. Thanks.

Anyway, I'm having trouble passing $maxChars variable to it when I instantiate it in my Main form.   I am creating a quiz app which has 2 views, MMAppViewController and a subview Level1View. I have declared NSInteger property "theScore" in the MMAppViewController view and have synthesised it. In my Level1View when they answer a correct question the "theScore" int will increase by one. The score has to be a global variable because when you reach so many points it will unlock the next level. For some reason in my switch statement it only lets me use the setTheScore method once. I am getting errors for every other set method in the switch statement. Error: "Duplicate label setTheScore".   I have a very strange problems in a PHP Soap implementation. I have a private variable in the Server class which contains the DB name for further reference. The private variable name is "fromdb". I have a public function on the soap server where I can set this variable. $client-setFromdb. When I call it form my client works perfectly and the fromdb private variable can be set. But a second soap client call this private variable loses its value...   I noticed some weird (and to my knowledge undefined behavior, by the ECMA 3.0 Spec at least), take the following snippet: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); alert(bar); } alert(bar); It crashes in both Firefox and Chrome, because "bar" doesn't exist in the first alert(); statement, this is as expected. But if you add a declaration of bar inside the with()-statement, so it looks like this: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; alert(bar); } alert(bar); It will produce the following: undefined, 1, g2, undefined It seems as if you create a variable inside a with()-statement most browsers (tested on Chrome or Firefox) will make that variable exist outside that scope also, it's just set to undefined. Now from my perspective bar should only exist inside the with()-statement, and if you make the example even weirder: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; var zoo; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; zoo = function() { return bar; } alert(bar); } alert(bar); alert(zoo()); It will produce this: undefined, 1, g2, undefined, g2 So the bar inside the with()-statement does not exist outside of it, yet the runtime somehow "automagically" creates a variable named bar that is undefined in its top level scope (global or function) but this variable does not refer to the same one as inside the with()-statement, and that variable will only exist if a with()-statement has a variable named bar that is defined inside it. Very weird, and inconsistent. Anyone have an explanation for this behavior? There is nothing in the ECMA Spec about this.

• JQuery UI question, how do you add variables into the dialog box

  $('.openDialog').click(function(event){ var width=$(this).attr('width'); var height=$(this).attr('height'); alert(width + ' ' + height); event.preventDefault(); $("#dialog").dialog({autoOpen: false, modal: true}); $('#dialog').dialog('option', 'width', width); $('#dialog').dialog('open'); $('#dialog p').load('http://pagetoload.com/page.html .content'); }); As you can see above i'm trying to open a dialog box with a passed in parameter of width and height, however when I try and pass in the value of width on this line: $('#dialog').dialog('option', 'width', width); it doesn't work, any ideas why or how to get around that? • access static class from asp.net form

  I am using <%# MyFormatClass(Eval("fieldname")) % to display data in a grid view on my page. MyFormatClass works fine, but now I want to move it to a central location that can be used by many pages. When I try to access the class <%# Utils.MyFormatClass(Eval("fieldname")) % it no longer works. Is this something we are allowed to do?
