  • Very small computer for note-taking, with full-size keyboard

    - by Reid
I am looking for a very small, lightweight computer with a full-size keyboard for taking text notes. Ideally it would be 500g or less including batteries for 16 hours of use. And writing text is the only use - a typewriter, if I could find one light enough, would be just fine. [I realize this is not the place for product recommendations, and that's not what I'm looking for. Rather, I have no experience in this space, so what I'd like is to understand what kinds of equipment are available and what are the right keywords to plug into Google/eBay/etc. In other words, help me learn enough to do a worthwhile search.]

  • Alternative to Xcode [closed]

    - by Moshe
For those familiar with Windows, I used to use "Programmer's Notepad" and "TextPad". I want a Text Editor, not an IDE, with the following few features (in no particular order): Syntax Highlighting Tabbed editing Projects (groups of files together in one "project" file) Spellcheck Lightweight - I prefer something other than Xcode. Updates I am looking for something primarily for web development. Must be Free. +1 For relevant link(s). GUI Based only Conclusion I realized that gEdit is available for OS X. I met it back on Ubuntu 6. Something-or-other. We have a winner. all for input.

  • Lightest weight ubuntu desktop for text editing in big terminal windows?

    - by Kevin Pauli
I have an older windows laptop onto which I'm installing ubuntu within a VM. My goal is just to use terminal-based linux tools such as vim and shell scripting. I don't give a hoot about any gui for this box. So I first installed ubuntu minimalcd and chose "Basic Ubuntu Server". Upon boot, the text-based terminal came up and I logged in, but the problem is it only gives me 80 columns. I want to do terminal mode vim but have a couple hundred columns to take advantage of my large monitor. If you happen to know how to do that, please see my question here . This post is assuming that the other question is not answerable, and that I will need a desktop to get more than 80 columns in a terminal window. So if that is the case, I want the lightest weight one possible, because this is older hardware and all I want is the ability to have nice big text-based terminal windows for editing text. From the ubuntu minimal CD, I see options for Edubuntu, Kubuntu, etc. Which one of the available desktops would be a good choice for my needs?

  • What version of mongodb was full $text query operator introduced?

    - by Marc Maxson
Stupid question, right? But the official docs for 'text index' say: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/core/index-text/ Text Indexes New in version 2.4. To perform queries that access the text index, use the $text query operator. Whereas if you click on the help for searching the index you created with the $text operator, it reads: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/operator/query/text/#op._S_text $text New in version 2.6. Seems to be 2.4 but still having problems wiht it.

  • Maven Error - Expected START_TAG or END_TAG not TEXT

    - by onepotato
I am setting up a spring mvc web application + hibernate jpa + maven from scratch using Eclipse Indigo. I am stuck in this error when doing a Maven build. [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Error installing artifact's metadata: Error installing metadata: Error updating group repository metadata expected START_TAG or END_TAG not TEXT (position: TEXT seen ...<extension>war</... @13:25) [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I tried googling but can't find a solution that works for me. I even search the whole project for the text <extension>war</ and mysteriously, there is no text like this in my project. However, in the tomcat web.xml there are a lot of <extension> tag, but I doubt that it has something to do in this error because I never touched that web.xml Here is my pom.xml <project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd"> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> <groupId>com.mycompany.applicationname</groupId> <artifactId>Application MVC</artifactId> <packaging>war</packaging> <version>0.0.1-SNAPSHOT</version> <name>Maven Application Webapp</name> <url>http://maven.apache.org</url> <properties> <spring.version>3.0.3.RELEASE</spring.version> </properties> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-core</artifactId> <version>${spring.version}</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-web</artifactId> <version>${spring.version}</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-webmvc</artifactId> <version>${spring.version}</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-webmvc</artifactId> <version>${spring.version}</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.hibernate.javax.persistence</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate-jpa-2.0-api</artifactId> <version>1.0.0.Final</version> </dependency> </dependencies> <build> <finalName>ApplicationName</finalName> </build> </project> As Funtik has suggested, I did a build with -X. Although at this point my application (Built using CakePHP) is running fine with either configuration, but I am not sure if it will cause any strange behaviour. Thanks!

  • sed: delete text between a string until first occurrence of another string

    - by Marit Hoen
Imagine I have something like the following text: The quick brown fox jumps in 2012 and 2013 And I would wish to delete the part from "fox" including the four numbers but only in the first occurrence so I end up with: The quick brown and 2013 Something likes this...: echo "The quick brown fox jumps in 2012 and 2013" \ | sed "s/fox.*\([0-9]\{4\}\)//g" ...brings me: The quick brown So it removed everything including the last occurrence of the four numbers. Any ideas?

    - by rookie
Hi all I've simply used the following program on the url below http://jericho.htmlparser.net/samples/console/src/ExtractText.java My goal is to be able to extract the main body text, to be able to summarize it and present the summarized text as output to the user. My problem is that, I'm not sure how I'd modify the above program to only get the required text from the webpage, without the links or any other information. Again, I'd really appreciate any help I could get. Thanks in advance

    - by GJ
I just started using Console2 as an alternative to cmd.exe I can't figure out how to copy text from the console to the clipboard -- dragging over it with the mouse won't mark anything, and there is no option in the right-click menu to "mark" as in cmd.exe It must be terribly obvious but I guess I'm overlooking it... :(

  • Customize WebForm module in Drupal

    - by Maksim
I'm new to Drupal 6.10 CMS and PHP too. I'm creating my website with drupal and I have found a module called Webform I like it, it's pretty easy to create forms with different types of fields and file uploading. The one thing that i can't figure out is how to add Rich Text before all fields. Something like introduction to the form. This module has "Description" field that will show text as a plain text but it doesn't have rich text in it. What can I use to make that happen. Is it possible to hardcode html there or is there any other modules that can allow to do something like that? Thanks

    - by Isamux
Hi, when I'm logged in as a user that is not member of the administrator group the entry to create a new textfile is missing from the right click "New" menu. If I give the user admin rights or start the explorer with admin rights the "New - text document" menu entry magically appears. As far as I can see the registry entries are correct. Anybody got a solution for that side effect of beeing a normal user in windows?? Regards

    - by KevB
I have a report created in Crystal (the version that comes with Visual Studio 2005) that contains an IFieldObject that I want to use to display some rich text. I have set the TextFormat of the IFieldObject to crRTFText, however when I run the report the textbox displays all the rtf markup rather than actually displaying the formatted text. Is there some other settings that need to be changed in order for Crystal to display rich text?

  • Automatically add text on CVS Commit?

    - by Ascalonian
I was curious if there was a way to add a hook or something into CVS so that when you commit a text file or into CVS, it will add a certain string at the end of the file? For example, say something like: "Committed by Joe Schmoe on 03/11/2010"
