    I am trying to block all default methods except create and update in my users controller using declerative_authorization. But at the time I add filter_resource_access or filter_access_to into my usersController i always get "Couldn't find User without an ID".   • Remove all user's cookies/sessions when password is reset

    I'm interested in improving security of my TurboGears 2.2 application so that when user changes his password, it logs him out from all sessions and he must login again. When user changes password on browser 1, he must relogin on browser 2, too. Experiments show that this is not the case, especially if browser 2 had "remember me" enabled. It's standard quickstarted app using repoze.who. It seems maybe I need to change AuthTktCookiePlugin, but don't see a way to do it without much rewiring.

The Admin will also change the Password every 90 days. Due to security reasons, i cannot maintain the admin credentials in my app.config file. What else would be best idea ?

    Hi, I'm trying to create an app like a blog, with 3 models: user, post and comment. As expected, a comment belongs to both a user and a post. I used the following associations: User.rb has_many :comments has_many :posts Post.rb has_many :comments belongs_to :user Comment.rb belongs_to :user belongs_to :post And I tried to create comments using: @user.comments.create However, this will relate the comment with user, but not with post. I want the comment to be associated wit BOTH user and post. Is there a way to do so? Or did I use the wrong associations? I think it might be a bad practice to set the user_id or post_id by hand, so both ids are not in attr_accessible. I'm not sure if it is correct. Thank you!

From above, If A uploads a document, it can be viewed only by B in user group 1. Like the same I want to restrict the viewable condition to other groups also. Please guide me to achieve this.     This is related to question 19245, in that one of the responders answered the question in an awesome way, and very VERY clear to any newbie. Now here is a question that i can't seem to figure. i wrote a script for starting the vmware firefox plugin (don't worry. i gave that up and now run vBox VERY happily. i left vmware for my servers :) ) I needed to start the plugin as sudo, but i also needed to pass an argument (password) to it, that happen to be the same. So, if my password was Hello123, the command would be: sudo ./myscript.sh hi other Hello123 running from command line, the script would ask for my sudo password and then run. i wanted to capture THAT password and pass it as well. i also wanted to run graphically, so i tried gksudo, and there is an option -p that returns the password for variable assignment. well, that was a nightmare, because i would still get prompted for the original sudo: see below Find UserName vUser=$USER Find password (and hopefully enable sudo) vP=gksudo -p -D somedescriptiontext echo Execute command gksudo ./myscript.sh hi $vUser $vP and i still get prompted twice. so my question is tri-fold: is there a variable i can use for the password, just like there is one for user, $USER? is there a different way i should be assigning the value resulting of the command i have in $vP? i am wondering if executing the way i have it, does it in an uninitiated session and not the current one, since i am getting some addtl warning type errors on some variables blah blah i tried using Zenity to just capture the text, but then of course, i couldn't pass that value to sudo, so i could only use as a parameter, which puts me back in 2 prompts. I can SSH to other machines on the network without any problems, and other machines can SSH to the problematic one as well.   • OSX Server 10.5 - Cannot log into Workgroup Manager - diradmin password is correct

    I've got a setup where I am trying to rescue a broken AD. We can no longer authenticate on the Workgroup manager, with passwords being rejected all the time - even though it is correct. I can connect using the workgroup manager on another server and I get the user list as expected, but when I click the padlock to make changes, I get the following screen: The problem is, I know the password is correct, I just used it to connect to the server in the first place. I can log into the server using the local admin, and services such as AFP, VPN and SMB continue to serve users. I have about 300 or so users on this server, and I would very much like to avoid having a rebuild. As there is much configuration that has been done without my knowledge (it's a client machine), I'd like to attempt to fix it, and then create another server and migration OD off this broken machine, then decommission it "gently". Ultimately this would mean no disruption of services. What I'd like it some tips as to how to fix the problem with authenticating to make changes in the work group manager, and maintenance on open directory in general. Thanks

  • Subversion Edge LDAP (require CAC Certificate not Username and Password)

    What I've Done: I've successfully installed and configured Subversion Edge 3.1.2 with LDAP support on a Windows 2008 server. I have configured LDAP users and am able to use LDAP credentials to work on repositories just fine. No issues whatsoever. Works great! What I Want To Do: I've been searching for several hours now in hopes to find some information on how to configure Subversion Edge server to require client certificates for user authentication against an LDAP environment. I have not found anything yet that gives me an indication of how to do it. I know there are SVN clients that are capable of prompting for CAC certificates but I cannot figure out how to set my server up to require it. NOTE: CAC authentication is already setup and working in the windows environment. Desired Outcome: When running svn commands that require authentication against my Subversion Edge Server I want it to prompt me for my CAC certificate instead of my Active Directory username and password. If anyone has any information on this I'd greatly appreciate it. EDIT: I'm still digging so if I find out anything I'll update this question with what I found.

  • Correct MySQL username/password, but getting Access Denied error when run from script

    I'm currently trying to run the following command from within a shell script. /usr/bin/mysql -u username -ppassword -h localhost database It works perfectly fine when executed manually, and not from within a script. When I try to execute a script that contains that command, I get the following error: ERROR 1045 (28000) at line 3: Access denied for user 'username'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I literally copied and pasted the working command into the script. Why the error? As a sidenote: the ultimate intent is to run the script with cron. EDIT: Here is a stripped down version of my script that I'm trying to run. This is there for the "here document". When removed, the command works fine. The problem is that I need << EOF there so that the MySQL queries will run.

  • HP Power Manager SMTP setup doesn't have space for username & password

    Is there some way to configure HP Power Manager to not assume that there's an email server running locally? We recently acquired an HP T1500 G3 UPS, which we're trying to control using HP Power Manager 4.2. The main reason we wanted to get this particular UPS is because it says it's capable of sending notifications (of the "Yo, the power's out, you may want to look into it" type) via email, as opposed to SNMP. Turns out, that's not entirely true. The server is running Windows Server 2003. It is not running an email server of any sort - we do that via two different providers. Outlook email is provided by Verizon, and our SMTP email service is provided by a small local company. When we use CDO to send auto-generated notification emails, we have to provide the SMTP server name, port, username, and password. The HP Power Manager interface only allows us to enter the server name and the username. Thus, not surprisingly, the emails never go anywhere. Help?
