Trouble connecting to a secured samba share with Ubuntu Server 10.04

I'm following these guidelines: https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/samba-fileprint-security.html But it's quite vague on how to connect from Windows. I can browse the share, but I can't write to it. The section on adding acl to your fstab file is also vague. What should my file look like if my share is part of my /home directory?

Why does MySql have 'utf8' for collation on its information_schema but latin1_swedish on all other d

Using the latest version of MySql. I created a database, it defaulted to Latin1_Swedish, and just noticed that the 'mysql' database also has Latin1_Swedish. Only the information_schema has a collation of utf8_general_ci. Should I be changing my database to utf8? And if so, how?

Can create and delete files through samba, but not modify?

I'm connecting from Windows 7 to Ubuntu Server 10.04 using samba. I can create new files in the share, delete those files, but if I try to edit a file, and then save it, I get an access denied. My User in Windows is the same as the one I'm connecting as and as setup in Ubuntu. This is very odd. I also have trouble copying files to Ubuntu as well. It errors but lets me copy them anyway.
