  After deleting over 3,500 photos from my iPhoto library (iPhoto '08), and then emptying the iPhoto trash, Finder reports that my iPhoto Library package grew in size by 4GB. What's causing this discrepancy?

• Time machine link error

  When attempting to perform a Time Machine backup, the backup appears to proceed as normal, until it finishes copying files at which point it complains that an "error occurred while linking files for" one of my external hard disks. During the previous backup that particular disk was in fact empty, and therefore I can't understand why Time Machine is attempting to link back to it. But alas. I've verified all my disks using Disk Utility and they all appear to be fine. Does anybody know what causes this error, and how I might go about fixing it? Failing that is there a way to force Time Machine to create a brand new backup rather than an incremental one? Thanks in advance!

• Overriding properties of child view controller vs setting them via parent view controller

  If you want to modify the default behaviour of a View Controller by changing the value of one of its properties, is it considered better form to instantiate the class and set its property directly, or subclass it and override the property? With the former it would become the parent View Controller's responsibility to configure its children, whereas with the latter the children would effectively configure themselves. EDIT: Some more information: The class I am referring to is FetchedTableViewController, a subclass of UITableViewController that I made to display the results of a Core Data fetch operation. There are two places I want to display the results of a fetch, and they each have different fetch requests. I'm trying to decide whether it's better to create a subclass for each one, and override the fetchRequest property, or make it the responsibility of the parent controller to set the fetchRequest property for its children.

• Creating iPhoto albums using Cocoa Scripting Bridge

  I'm tearing my hair out trying to create a new album from a Cocoa Application. In applescript it's a nice simple procedure: tell application "iPhoto" new album name "Album" end tell But I can't work out how this is done in Cocoa via the Scripting Bridge. I've tried this: iPhotoApplication *iPhoto = [SBApplication applicationWithBundleIdentifier:@"com.apple.iPhoto"]; iPhotoAlbum *newAlbum = [[[[iPhoto classForScriptingClass:@"album"] alloc] initWithProperties:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:@"Album" forKey:@"name"]] autorelease]; [[iPhoto albums] addObject:newAlbum]; But that had no effect. Please help!
