  • cyrus-sasl-lib issue on CentOS 5.3 (while installing GUI)

    - by sxanness
I am attempting to install gnome on a CentOS 5.3 Server install so that I can speed up the process that I am working on. I ran a yum groupinstall for the x window system and gnome but I keep getting the following error. Package cyrus-sasl-plain needs cyrus-sasl-lib = 2.1.22-4, this is not available. Package cyrus-sasl needs cyrus-sasl-lib = 2.1.22-4, this is not available. Package cyrus-sasl-plain needs cyrus-sasl-lib = 2.1.22-4, this is not available. Package cyrus-sasl needs cyrus-sasl-lib = 2.1.22-4, this is not available. Complete! First thing I checked was what version of the cyrus-sasl-lib I had installed. Installed Packages cyrus-sasl-lib.i386 2.1.22-4 installed cyrus-sasl-lib.x86_64 2.1.22-4 installed Available Packages cyrus-sasl-lib.x86_64 2.1.22-5.el5 base cyrus-sasl-lib.i386 2.1.22-5.el5 base Anyhow know how I can get around this and install the stuff I need so that I can start a GUI on this machine? Thanks in advance

  • How do I use postfix aliases in cyrus?

    - by Nick
I have a cyrus mailbox called user/nrahl. If I use the 'mail' command, from the server itself, and type: mail nrahl to send a message, the message magically shows up in my Thunderbird IMAP inbox. But I need to get message from a POP3 account into Cyrus for delivery, and the messages comming in are addressed to "[email protected]". I have fetchmail setup and running, and it's downloading messages from the POP3 account, and passing them into Postfix. Postfix (now that I've got aliases set up in /etc/alias) is accepting the message, and passing it to the Cyrus socket. But here's the problem: Cyrus is rejecting the message with a 550 - mailbox unknown error. The actual message in /var/log/mail.log is: Apr 17 16:56:57 IMAP cyrus/lmtpunix[5640]: verify_user(user.fetchmail) failed: Mailbox does not exist Apr 17 16:56:57 IMAP postfix/lmtp[5561]: CFFD61556BD: to=, relay=localhost[/var/run/cyrus/socket/lmtp], delay=0.08, delays=0.07/0/0/0.01, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (host localhost[/var/run/cyrus/socket/lmtp] said: 550-Mailbox unknown. Either there is no mailbox associated with this 550-name or you do not have authorization to see it. 550 5.1.1 User unknown (in reply to RCPT TO command)) It looks like it's trying to forward all of nrahl's mail to postfix@localhost, instead of nrahl@localhost, and I don't know why. I need it to forward mail addressed to [email protected] into Cyrus's "nrahl" mailbox.

  • Postfix cannot deliver mail to Cyrus mailbox on Ubuntu 11.10 server

    - by user105804
I have installed and configured Postfix and Cyrus IMAP server with webcyradm according to this document - http://www.delouw.ch/linux/Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO/html/index.html . I can access webcyradm interface, I can create new domains and new users, and I can login via IMAP after creating the user account. However, Postfix fails to deliver mail to cyrus mailboxes. Mail log contains errors shown below. Installing any IMAP server other than cyrus is not an option because it is needed by the web application. Please advise me how to make Postfix deliver email to cyrus mailboxes. The solution should not necessary include web-cyradm, but there should be a web interface for managing mail domains and mailboxes as user-friendly as possible. • Cyrus on CentOS with sasl / pam / ldap

    - by Oscar
SASL/PAM/LDAP is driving me crazy... that's what I read a lot when googling for problems in this area, and what I experience myself :-S I'm trying to get Cyrus imap working for virtual hosting on CentOS with this authorisation backend and really don't know what's happening. In saslauthd I configured the LDAP search filter to use, but it looks like pam completely ignores it. Here's what I do for testing (done more tests but all with similar results): [root@testserv ~]# imtest -u [email protected] -a [email protected] WARNING: no hostname supplied, assuming localhost S: * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4 IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ ID STARTTLS] testserv. The weird thing is, I do get an error when I rename or remove /etc/saslauthd.conf, but when the file exists it seems happily ignored... The filter in slapd.log seems to be taken from /etc/ldap.conf. Apart from some timers, that only contains: host 127.0.0.1 base o=mydomain,c=com pam_login_attribute mail Outcommenting the pam_login_attribute results in this filter in slapd.log: filter="([email protected])" Pam-imap looks like this: [root@testserv ~]# cat /etc/pam.d/imap auth required pam_ldap.so debug account required pam_ldap.so debug #auth sufficient pam_unix.so likeauth nullok #auth sufficient pam_ldap.so use_first_pass #auth required pam_deny.so #account sufficient pam_unix.so #account sufficient pam_ldap.so The outcommented stuff is because I don't have the cyrus admin user in Ldap; that's a Linux user. That works fine when uncommented, but I still need to play around with that a little and first I wanna get imap working. Finally nsswitch: [root@testserv ~]# cat /etc/nsswitch.conf # # /etc/nsswitch.conf # # An example Name Service Switch config file. This file should be # sorted with the most-used services at the beginning. # # The entry '[NOTFOUND=return]' means that the search for an # entry should stop if the search in the previous entry turned # up nothing. • Cyrus: How Do I Configure saslauthd For Authentication?

I'm trying to get Cyrus IMAP (v 2.2 on Ubuntu 9.04) setup and working, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting the login working correctly. I've created a mailbox for my test user "nrahl": cm user/nrahl and then created a password: $ saslpasswd2 nrahl I'm attempting to connect to the mailbox using Thunderbird. I'm using the machine's LAN IP address as the host, and "nrahl" as the username. It connects to the server and prompts me for the password. • Disable user_deny.db in Cyrus/imapd

    - by netmano
We have a cyrus 2.4.12 on Debian, we use packages, rather than building each software ourselves. I am getting the this "log" constantly, a lot of, various users, and 8-10 times per user request: fetching user_deny.db entry for 'user123' I have searched for it, but haven't found a real solution, there were some patches for 2.3.xx, but we don't want ot build it, we prefer to use packages. Is there any solution to disable the user_deny.db at all. We don't need this feature. It wastes the CPU as disk.

  • Cyrus: In practical terms, how do end users administer their shared mailboxes?

    - by Nick
Let's say we have four customer service reps: Billy, Bob, Joe, and Tom. Tom is the department manager. There's a shared Customer Service mailbox on the Cyrus server that they all have access to. Tom, as the manager also has administrative privileges for the shared mailbox. They decide they want to create sub-folders a certain way, and Tom creates them. They're all running Thunderbird, so Tom right-clicks the main folder and chooses "New Subfolder". Now Tom has the Subfolders he needs and the other sales reps have... nothing! Because Cyrus created the Subfolders giving Tom "Full Access" permissions, and everyone else gets no access. So how does Tom give the other reps in his department access to the new folders? As far as Cyrus is concerned, Tom has permission to grant others access to his new mailboxes- But as far as I can tell, there's no option in Thunderbird for granting mailbox permissions. An IT staff member should not have to receive a support request every time someone wants to add a Subfolder to a shared mailbox. That's why we make certain users into mailbox admins in the first place! But asking (non-technical) users to SSH into an IMAP server to run cyradm seems like a bad idea too. Certainly someone has found a solution for this dilemma. Perhaps a Thunderbird extension for setting Cyrus permissions? Or something like umask that forces subfolders to have identical permissions to their parents on creation? And related, what about Sieve configuration? Is there anyway that can be done from the client machine too? Thanks, Nick

  • How \Deleted flag can be unset for all mails in cyrus-imapd mailbox?

    - by Sachin Divekar
I have a 5GB mailbox which I moved using imapsync. But somehow I messed up with --delete/--delete2 option and end up with almost all the messages having \Deleted flag set. I do not have delayed expunge enabled, so I can not use unexpunge utility. I am using cyrus-imapd v2.3.7. Using cyrus-imapd's debugging feature I found out that email client(Roundcube in my case) fires following IMAP command to unset it. UID STORE 179 -FLAGS.SILENT (\Deleted) I don't know if somehow I can fire this command for all the mails. Is there any way I can unset \Deleted flag for all the mails in the mailbox? UPDATE: Using @geekosaur's tip of specifying range of message-ids in the above command, I could solve it for one mailbox under INBOX like INBOX.folder1. Is there any way I can do it for multiple mailboxes under INBOX recursively? Now I am working on solving it using/creating some script, maybe using Perl's IMAP related module. But still I need to solve it asap so inputs are welcome.

  • Import emails from hard disk image?

My old Pentium 3 email server just died on me. Is it possible import all my emails that I had? I was running postfix and the cyrus IMAP server. I can chroot to the hard drive to run any commands if needed. After grep'ing the hard drive, I found that all of my emails are in /var/spool/imap. I assume that I can't just copy all the emails to my new server, so what do I need to do to get them onto my new server?

  • 12.04 No Sound - ALC888 / Radeon 3200HD

    - by Ross
Evening all. I have a MSI U230 netbook, MV40 processor, 4Gb RAM with integrated ATI Radeon 3200HD grahics & an ALC888 codec integrated soundcard. It has HDMI out as well. I've tried a few distro's and have been around linux for a short time. I reckon I've settled on Ubuntu 12.04 (32bit) due to it doing pretty much everything I want it to. I'm working with a fresh install right now. I recently re-installed when I was going in circles trying to solve my problem before. I install Ubuntu and it works, except for the sound. I have tried things like reinstalling Alsa, editing my asound.conf file, installing HDA Verb and a few other things. Its at the point where I need to ask for help... • Dovecot vs Courier vs Cyrus

    - by wag2639
What is best for a Personal/SMB mail server running on an Ubuntu Server (8.04+)? I want to setup my own mail server at home to evaluate some options for my company before I make a recommendation. Which is the most secure, efficient, and reliable? Also, which is easiest to integrate with an LDAP and Calendar solution?

  • How can I configure Cyrus IMAP to submit a default realm to SASL?

    - by piwi
I have configured Postfix to work with SASL using plain text, where the former automatically submits a default realm to the latter when requesting authentication. Assuming the domain name is example.com and the user is foo, here is how I configured it on my Debian system so far. In the postfix configuration file /etc/main.cf: smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $mydomain The SMTP configuration file /etc/postfix/smtpd.conf contains: pwcheck_method: saslauthd mech_list: PLAIN The SASL daemon is configured with the sasldb mechanism in /etc/default/saslauthd: MECHANIMS="sasldb" The SASL database file contains a single user, shown by sasldblistusers2: [email protected]: userPassword The authentication works well without having to provide a realm, as postifx does that for me. However, I cannot find out how to tell the Cyrus IMAP daemon to do the same. I created a user cyrus in my SASL database, which uses the realm of the host domain name, not example.com, for administrative purpose. I used this account to create a mailbox through cyradm for the user foo: cm user.foo IMAP is configured in /etc/imapd.conf this way: allowplaintext: yes sasl_minimum_layer: 0 sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd sasl_mech_list: PLAIN servername: mail.example.com If I enable cross-realm authentication (loginrealms: example.com), trying to authenticate using imtest works with these options: imtest -m login -a [email protected] localhost However, I would like to be able to authenticate without having to specify the realm, like this: imtest -m login -a foo localhost I thought that using virtdomains (setting it either to userid or on) and defaultdomain: example.com would do just that, but I cannot get to make it work. I always end up with this error: cyrus/imap[11012]: badlogin: localhost [127.0.0.1] plaintext foo SASL(-13): authentication failure: checkpass failed What I understand is that cyrus-imapd never tries to submit the realm when trying to authenticate the user foo. My question: how can I tell cyrus-imapd to send the domain name as the realm automatically? Thanks for your insights!

  • How to clear stuck locked maildrop pop3 process

    - by Joshua
I am using cyrus for imap and pop One of my users is getting the following error: Unable to lock maildrop : Mailbox is locked by POP server. I can see where it starts in the log. I've read that there is no physical lock file anymore (i've tried looking for it anyways) and that the solution is to just wait for the timeout, or kill the offending pop3 process. I know that this is happening because of a lossy connection on the part of the affected user, and that pop3 can only have 1 session active at a time. I need to manually clear the lock and I am having trouble finding the offending pop process. I have tried lsof, but it doesn't say how long the individual files (sockets) have been opened for. I've reduced the tcp keepalive time down to 5 mins, but I still need to reset this guy's lock. I could use some pointers. Thanks!

  • os x 10.4 server enable mail for account via terminal

    - by Chris
Hello- I have an account on an OS X 10.4 server that I don't have physical access to (must use SSH). For arguments sake, let's call the account 'Bob'. Bob's account exists and appears to be fully functional, however he does not have email. How do I enable, via terminal, email for Bob's account, such that he can receive email at [email protected]? I already have the mail server all set up with several working accounts in it, I just need to add Bob. I have searched all over Google for over six hours now, but can't seem to find an answer that fits my situation. Any help is appreciated. P.S. - I am not adverse to just deleting the account and starting over, if that would make things easier...

I can't see why Apache is looking for a .htaccess there and don't know why this should stop the request. Thanks.

  • Spawn a multi-threaded Java program from a Windows command line program, spawner won't end until spa

    - by Ross Patterson
Short version: How can I prevent a spawned Java process in Windows from blocking the spawning process from ending? Long version: I'm trying to spawn a multi-threaded Java program (Selenium RC, not that it should matter) from a program launched from the Windows command line (NAnt's <exec> task, again, not that it should matter). I'm doing it using the Windows "start" command, and the spawned process is started and runs correctly. The spawning process receives control back and finishes (NAnt says "BUILD SUCCEEDED"), but doesn't actually exit to the command line. When the spawned process finally terminates (could be hours later), the command process returns and the command line prompt occurs. For example: <target name="start_rc"> <exec program="cmd" failonerror="false" workingdir="${ross.p5.dir}\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1" verbose="true"> <arg value="/C"/> <arg value="start"/> <arg value="java"/> <arg value="-jar"/> <arg path="${ross.p5.dir}\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1\selenium-server.jar"/> <arg value="-userExtensions"/> <arg path="${ross.p5.dir}\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1\user-extensions.js"/> <arg value="-browserSideLog"/> <arg value="-log"/> <arg value="${ross.p5.dir}\artifacts\selenium.log"/> <arg value="-debug"/> </exec> </target> Produces: C :\Ross>nant start_rc NAnt 0.86 (Build 0.86.2898.0; beta1; 12/8/2007) Copyright (C) 2001-2007 Gerry Shaw http://nant.sourceforge.net Buildfile: file:///C:/Ross/ross.build Target framework: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Target(s) specified: start_rc start_rc: [exec] Starting 'cmd (/C start java -jar C:\p5\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1\selenium-server.jar -userExtensions C:\p5\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1\user-extensions.js -browserSideLog -log C:\p5\artifacts\selenium.log -debug)' in 'C:\p5\Tools\selenium\selenium-server-1.0.1' BUILD SUCCEEDED Total time: 4.1 seconds. ... and then nothing until I close the window where Java is running, then ... C:\Ross> Obviously something is preventing the nant process from terminating, but shouldn't the Windows START command prevent that?

  • saslauthd + PostFix producing password verification and authentication errors

    - by Aram Papazian
So I'm trying to setup PostFix while using SASL (Cyrus variety preferred, I was using dovecot earlier but I'm switching from dovecot to courier so I want to use cyrus instead of dovecot) but I seem to be having issues. Here are the errors I'm receiving: ==> mail.log <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure ==> mail.info <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure ==> mail.warn <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure I tried $testsaslauthd -u xxxx -p xxxx 0: OK "Success." The password in 'users' is set through the 'ENCRYPT()' function. I also followed the methods found in http://www.jimmy.co.at/weblog/?p=52 in order to redo /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd as that seems to be a lot of people's problems, but that didn't help at all. Also, here is my /etc/default/saslauthd START=yes DESC="SASL Authentication Daemon" NAME="saslauthd" # Which authentication mechanisms should saslauthd use? (default: pam) # # Available options in this Debian package: # getpwent -- use the getpwent() library function # kerberos5 -- use Kerberos 5 # pam -- use PAM # rimap -- use a remote IMAP server # shadow -- use the local shadow password file # sasldb -- use the local sasldb database file # ldap -- use LDAP (configuration is in /etc/saslauthd.conf) # # Only one option may be used at a time. See the saslauthd man page # for more information. # # Example: MECHANISMS="pam" MECHANISMS="pam" MECH_OPTIONS="" THREADS=5 OPTIONS="-c -m /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd -r" I had heard that potentially changing MECHANISM to MECHANISMS="mysql" but obviously that didn't help as is shown by the options listed above and also by trying it out anyway in case the documentation was outdated. So, I'm now at a loss... I have no idea where to go from here or what steps I need to do to get this working =/ Anyone have any ideas? EDIT: Here is the error that is coming from auth.log ...
