  • How can I use Perl and RRD to plot ping times?

    - by ChrisMuench
    I'm trying to do my first rrd graph through Perl. I have tried RRD::Simple and rrds and just can't get either one to work. Here's what I have so far: use strict; use RRD::Simple (); # Create an interface object my $rrd = RRD::Simple-new( file = "server.rrd" ); # Put some arbitary data values in the RRD file for the same # 3 data sources called bytesIn, bytesOut and faultsPerSec. $rrd-create( EqSearch = "DERIVE", MfSearch = "DERIVE", EQCostBasis = "DERIVE", MFCostBasis = "DERIVE" ); $rrd-update( EqSearch = 2, MfSearch = 3, EQCostBasis = 10, MFCostBasis = 15 ); # Generate graphs: # /var/tmp/myfile-daily.png, /var/tmp/myfile-weekly.png # /var/tmp/myfile-monthly.png, /var/tmp/myfile-annual.png my %rtn = $rrd-graph( destination = "/Users/cmuench/Documents/Code/perl", title = "Server A", vertical_label = "", interlaced = "", periods = [qw(hour)] );

  • C# Generate MRTG/RRD like Graphs Performance graphs?

    - by BlackTea
I have a database with Performance counter data and i would like to show this on a ASP.net page but the thing is i don't want to use Flash based charting solution or a Javascript based solution i would like to just generate images and use those I want the images to be like those of RRD or MRTG. I'm trying to find out how i can create graphs like the following http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/stream-pop.png http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/gallery/index.en.html Any ideas?

  • nTop RRD file architecture

    - by Seanny123
I have a gig of nTop RRD files and I would like to start graphing them with rrdtool (but not with nTop, since I'm hoping to do this with a separate backup of the database as workaround to the impossibility of limiting the RRD files by size), but I don't know how the files are structured. I've tried reading the RRD documentation from SourceForge and the nTop FAQ, but I'm not finding the information I need. Does anyone know of any documentation I should be looking at or how the files are structured? Here https://dl.dropbox.com/u/669437/file%20structure.png is a screenshot of the file structure. At first I thought it was organized by IP address (so the rrd files for address 1.1.2.3 would be stored in folder 1-1-2-3 or even the reverse order), but that doesn't seem to be the case. It isn't organized by MAC address either, although some hosts are saved that way. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Blank Cacti Graphs

    - by tortib
    I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I'm having an issue with Cacti 0.8.8b not displaying any data in graphs. The graphs are being created and I see files in /var/lib/cacti/rra. My crontab entry for root is the following: */1 * * * * sudo -u www-data php -q /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php > /dev/null The output of ls -la /var/lib/cacti/rra is the following: # ls -la /var/lib/cacti/rra/ total 1008 drwxrwx--- 2 www-data www-data 4096 Aug 20 19:27 . drwxr-xr-x 3 www-data www-data 4096 Aug 17 01:41 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:23 tortib_com_cpu_nice_34.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:24 tortib_com_cpu_system_35.rrd -rw-rw-r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:25 tortib_com_cpu_user_36.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 94816 Aug 20 19:27 tortib_com_hdd_used_43.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 94816 Aug 20 19:23 tortib_com_hdd_used_44.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:27 tortib_com_load_15min_38.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:26 tortib_com_load_1min_37.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:23 tortib_com_load_5min_39.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:24 tortib_com_mem_buffers_40.rrd -rw-rw-r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:25 tortib_com_mem_cache_41.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:26 tortib_com_mem_free_42.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 94816 Aug 20 19:24 tortib_com_traffic_in_45.rrd -rw-rw-r-- 1 www-data www-data 94816 Aug 20 19:25 tortib_com_traffic_in_46.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 94816 Aug 20 19:26 tortib_com_traffic_in_47.rrd -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 47992 Aug 20 19:27 tortib_com_users_48.rrd I tried to run the poller as root from the command line but it doesn't output anything useful nor does it graph any data. The device in cacti shows that that it's able to query snmp and ping is alive. The graphs are still empty though. snmpwalk 127.0.0.1 -v2c -c public works as it should. It walks all MIBs. I'm quite perplexed as to why this isn't working any longer. It was graphing data but then it just stopped. And when it was graphing data it was graphing it intermittently. Thank you for reading this problem and helping.

  • Cacti rrdtool graph with no values, NaN in .rrd file

    - by beicha
Cacti 0.8.7h, with latest RRDTool. I successfully graphed CPU/Interface traffic, but got blank graphs like when it comes to Memory/Temperature monitoring. The problem/bug is actually archived here, however this post didn't help. I can snmpget the value, e.g SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1 = Gauge32: 26. However, the problem seems to exist in storing these values to the .rrd file. • collectd:Monitoring server not showing clients

I have setup a monitoring server with the following setup. <Plugin network> Listen "0.0.0.0" "25826" </Plugin> Now my clients are sending data to the monitoring server(verified through tcpdump). Even the collection folder shows that the data is being dumped /var/lib/collectd/rrd [ec2-user at x rrd]$ ll total 4 drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Nov 20 17:53 x-web-1.y.com [ec2-user at x rrd]$ I have also verified with find . -mmin 1 to see if its being constantly updated. [ec2-user@x rrd]$ find . -mmin 1 ./x-web-1.y.com/interface-eth0/if_errors.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/interface-eth0/if_packets.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/interface-eth0/if_octets.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/disk-xvda1/disk_time.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/disk-xvda1/disk_ops.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/disk-xvda1/disk_octets.rrd ./x-web-1.y.com/disk-xvda1/disk_merged.rrd But when i look it up through collectd-web, I don't see the clients What might be wrong in my setup?

  • How to populate RRD database with CPU and MEM usage data?

    - by Tomaszs
    I have a Lighttpd server (on Centos) and would like to display 4 graphs: lighttpd traffic, lighttpd requests per second, CPU usage and MEM usage. I've set place for rrd database for lighttpd config like this: rrdtool.binary = "/usr/bin/rrdtool" rrdtool.db-name = "/var/www/lighttpd.rrd" And put into my WWW cgi-bin sh file that gets data from lighttpd RRD file and creates graphs of traffic and requests per second like this: #!/bin/sh RRDTOOL=/usr/bin/rrdtool OUTDIR=//var/www/graphs INFILE=/var/www/lighttpd.rrd OUTPRE=lighttpd-traffic WIDTH=400 HEIGHT=100 DISP="-v bytes --title TrafficWebserver \ DEF:binraw=$INFILE:InOctets:AVERAGE \ DEF:binmaxraw=$INFILE:InOctets:MAX \ DEF:binminraw=$INFILE:InOctets:MIN \ DEF:bout=$INFILE:OutOctets:AVERAGE \ DEF:boutmax=$INFILE:OutOctets:MAX \ DEF:boutmin=$INFILE:OutOctets:MIN \ CDEF:bin=binraw,-1,* \ CDEF:binmax=binmaxraw,-1,* \ CDEF:binmin=binminraw,-1,* \ CDEF:binminmax=binmaxraw,binminraw,- \ CDEF:boutminmax=boutmax,boutmin,- \ AREA:binmin#ffffff: \ STACK:binmax#f00000: \ LINE1:binmin#a0a0a0: \ LINE1:binmax#a0a0a0: \ LINE2:bin#efb71d:incoming \ GPRINT:bin:MIN:%.2lf \ GPRINT:bin:AVERAGE:%.2lf \ GPRINT:bin:MAX:%.2lf \ AREA:boutmin#ffffff: \ STACK:boutminmax#00f000: \ LINE1:boutmin#a0a0a0: \ LINE1:boutmax#a0a0a0: \ LINE2:bout#a0a735:outgoing \ GPRINT:bout:MIN:%.2lf \ GPRINT:bout:AVERAGE:%.2lf \ GPRINT:bout:MAX:%.2lf \ " $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-hour.png -a PNG --start -14400 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-day.png -a PNG --start -86400 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-month.png -a PNG --start -2592000 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT OUTPRE=lighttpd-requests DISP="-v req --title RequestsperSecond -u 1 \ DEF:req=$INFILE:Requests:AVERAGE \ DEF:reqmax=$INFILE:Requests:MAX \ DEF:reqmin=$INFILE:Requests:MIN \ CDEF:reqminmax=reqmax,reqmin,- \ AREA:reqmin#ffffff: \ STACK:reqminmax#00f000: \ LINE1:reqmin#a0a0a0: \ LINE1:reqmax#a0a0a0: \ LINE2:req#00a735:requests" $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-hour.png -a PNG --start -14400 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-day.png -a PNG --start -86400 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT $RRDTOOL graph $OUTDIR/$OUTPRE-month.png -a PNG --start -2592000 $DISP -w $WIDTH -h $HEIGHT Basically it's not my script, i get it from somewhere from the internet. Now i would like to do the same for CPU usage and MEM usage. I don't like to use any additional packages! As you can see lighttpd populates lighttpd.rrd file with traffic data and requests per second. Now i would like to the system to populate second rrd file with CPU and MEM usage, so i can add to sh file code to generate graphs for this data. How can I populate RRD file with CPU and MEM usage data? Please, NO THIRD-PARTY tools !

  • Nagios and rrd on a old server

    - by Pier
I have an old server (P4 based) on which nagios (and all the other tools to monitor) is running. In the last few weeks we are seeing a strange behavior. In the /var/spool/pnp4nagios (where temporary files are stored before getting processed by pnp4nagios daemon) we have many files like perfdata.1274949941-PID-18839 and we get an error in npcd.log: [05-27-2010 11:17:46] NPCD: ThreadCounter 0/15 File is perfdata.1274951306-PID-27849 [05-27-2010 11:17:46] NPCD: File 'perfdata.1274951306-PID-27849' is an already in process PNP file. Leaving it untouched. Sometimes some graph are not drawn. The server is pretty loaded (around 5-6 normally) and i suspect that npcd goes in timeout and leave those files behind. What could I do (apart from change the server)? Few infos about the system: centos 5.5 nagios 3.2.1 pnp4nagios 0.6 (from sources) Thanks

  • How to use RRDTOOL for one value per day

    - by Octopus
I have to create a graphical representation for staff salary. The staff is getting there salaries per day and I have there information in below format. This is one month data i.e. 1st March to 31st March <DATE>,<NAME1>,<NAME2>,<NAME3>......<NAME N> YYYY-MM-DD,name1,name2,Name3,.......name4 . . so on.. 1) Is rrdtool a better solution to create graphs and find AVERAGE, MAX, MIN. 2) If yes, How can I use above csv file to create RRD. 3) If no, what else I can use this to automate the graphical information on my website. Any suggestion in perl would be really appreciated.

  • Graphing services using pnp4nagios

    - by Matias
Hi! I've managed to install pnp4nagios 0.6.3 and I'm a bit confused about how pnp4nagios generates graphics. Almost out of the box, it started graphs for ping and some http servers (not all of them). But, how can I make it graph things like disk utilization (When that value comes from SNMP)?? For example, ls /usr/local/pnp4nagios/var/perfdata/isis/ Cola_de_Mail.rrd Cola_de_Mail.xml HTTP.rrd HTTP.xml PING.rrd PING.xml Those are checks running on the host isis, but there are many other checks for that server that are not taken into account by pnp4nagios. How can I make pnp4nagios "see" the other checks?? Thanks!

  • Monitoring MySQL SELECT/WRITE/UPDATE/SLOW queries in Nagios

    - by imaginative
There's ways to get performance graphs with several monitoring software packages out there such as ZenOSS. There's a plugin available that will graph MySQL based SELECT/WRITE/SLOW queries in a nice rrd style graph. I'm curious if there is a way to also get similar graphs available in Nagios 3.0? I know Nagios has tools like pnp and can integrate rrd, but is there something readily available that can plugin to monitor those MySQL specifics?

  • How do I collect SNMP readings from intermittently-connected sites?

    - by Luke404
I am collecting SNMP data on-site for a number of systems, currently using Cacti. These systems are spread on a number of sites that aren't always connected to internet, but I also need to centralize the data on a single system (datacenter housed server) and get graphs out of it. If I directly poll remote systems with a centralized Cacti I'd loose data when a site is not connected to internet. I should record data on-site (I have a server at each site and I can run whatever I want on it) and then 'sync' everything to the central system. One hack could be a cacti or directly an rrdtool on site and then periodically rsync RRD data to the central Cacti system, but that doesn't sound like a 'clean' solution: every RRD would have to be defined at both places and rsync scripts setup with the specific file names. Can you suggest a better solution? Cacti is not a requirement but I'd like to use something like that on the central system. On-site systems need only to collect data I don't need to graph it there or manage users rights to view data and stuff like that, users will only access the centralized system.
