• Neon toolkit and Gate Web Service

  I am trying to run any of the services from gate web service, in neon 2.3. Even Annie that runs so well in gate doesn't run, or better, it stay for indefinite time processing, a thing that should take no more than a couple of seconds. I run wizard, set input directory, leave file pattern as default and set a folder and name for the output ontology, shouldn't it be enough? Shouldn't i get something, even an error? • How to get Flex app to load quicker?

  We've got an app written in Flex that displays data from our app. The .swf file is only 427kb, but it takes a full five seconds to load in Firefox. This is a headache for our users because they need to access the page that contains the app frequently. (The app displays documents, and it's really slow to march through a list of them). I've confirmed that it's not a slow web server problem. The .swf appears to be cached in the browser. Firebug reports that every time the web page accesses the .swf, the app server returns a "304 Not Modified" response, meaning that the load time from the server is almost zero. Is there anything we can do to debug this issue? Or is the Flash player just slow?

  I managed to get this code to compile with out error. But somehow it did not return the strings that I wrote inside file1.txt and file.txt that I pass its path through str1 and str2. My objective is to use this open source library to measure the similarity between strings contains inside 2 text files. Inside the its Javadoc, its states that ... public static java.lang.StringBuffer fileToString(java.io.File f) private call to load a file and return its content as a string. Parameters: f - a file for which to load its content Returns: a string containing the files contents or "" if empty or not present Here's is my modified code trying to use the FileLoader function, but fails to return the strings inside the file. The end result keeps on returning me the "" . • Advice on String Similarity Metrics (Java). Distance, sounds like or combo?

  Hello, A part of a process requires to apply String Similarity Algorithms. The results of this process will be stored and produce lets say SS_Dataset. Based on this Dataset, further decisions will have to be made. My questions are: Should i apply one or more string similarity algorithms to produce SS_Dataset ? Any comparisons between algorithms that calculate the 'distance' and the 'Sounds Like' similarity ? Does one family of algorithms produces more accurate results over the other? Does a combination give more accurate results on similarity? Can you recommend implementations that you have worked with?
