SHFileOperation FO_MOVE deletes a file if the destination drive is full

I had a piece of code which uses windows SHFileOperation function with FO_MOVE operation. Additional flags specified were FOF_NOCONFIRMATION | FOF_NOERRORUI | FOF_SILENT. A particular weird behavior was observed when the destination drive was full. In this case, MOVE could not place the file in destination folder but the source file was also lost. This was highly unexpected and this caused a loss of data. Is this the standard behavior of SHFileOperation? Can we have something like MOVE if the destination drive has space otherwise leave the file at the original place?

SHFileOperation replace file dialog

Currently, SHFileOperation has some confirm file replacement dialog boxes that ask the user if they would like to replace a file or not. I find these useful, but I would like to be able to modify the scenario in which they occur. Instead, I would like to compare the file contents first with a bool compareFile() function I wrote. Then, if the files are identical the file replacement dialog box will not come up. Assuming, I already have a working compareFile() function, is there a way for me to do this? Using SHFileOperation: What errors are occuring

Hello I am using the function SHFileOperation() to send a file to the recycling bin. And I am getting 2 errors that I do not know what they mean because with this function the error codes are not GetLastError() values. Now when the function SHFileOperation() fails the return values are 0x57 (decimal 87) & 0x2 (decimal 2). Can you help me discover the definitions of these errors (expecially when you consider with this function, the errors are not part of the GetLastError() codes). Some important information: • I am using Windows 7 (& I know that MSDN says to use IFileOperation instead of SHFileOperation but I want to make my app backwards compatable which is why I am using SHFileOperation). If the error is occuring because I am using SHFileOperation on Windows 7 what solution could I use to make this work on all versions of windows from 2000 & up? • I have debugged extensively & as far as I know my SHFILEOPSTRUCT is correct (correct flags used, .pFrom is a double-null ended string). Double null-terminated string

I need to format a string to be double null-terminated string in order to use SHFileOperation. How to Concatenate 2 C strings, without overwriting any terminating Null characters?

Hello, I am trying to set up a list of file names for a parameter to SHFileOperation. I want to be able to concatenate a file name onto the char array, but i dont want to get rid of the terminating character. for example, I want this: C:\...\0E:\...\0F:\...\0\0 when i use strcat(), it overwrites the null, so it looks like C:\...E:\...F:\...0\ Is there any easy way to do this? or am i going to have to code a new strcat for myself?

Impossible to remove directory

Evidently I've never had to delete a directory using win32 sdk before, because its apparently an impossible task. I've tried anything and everything - RemoveDirectory, SHFileOperation with FO_DELETE, etc. Currently I call CreateDirectory in one thread, start another thread, copy some files to this directory in the new thread, then delete all the files in the directory in the new thread, and then back in the original thread that created the directory, try to delete the now empty directory and it fails. The directory really and truly is empty when I try to delete it, but it makes no difference. The whole thread aspect is irrelevant I think because at one point everything was in one thread and it didn't work. I'm currently setting a SecurityAttributes structure on CreateDirectory to grant access to everyone, but it makes no difference. RemoveDirectory in the past has returned '32' on GetLastError, which I believe is Sharing violation. But even if I just try to delete the empty directory from the command line, it refuses saying, "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." until I shut down the entire application that created the directory. (Note: the directory is created in GetTempPath.)
