  • How can I prevent Libre Office to start unexpected when I start other applications?

    - by brubaker
I am on Ubuntu 11.10/64bit with Gnome 3. Regards [update] I trying to say that when I start an application like Nautilus LibreOffice starts as well. Sometimes this also happens when I open a document with a totally different extension i.e. a .html doc. I checked if and which plugins are installed to Firefox: OpenOffice.org Plug-in File: libnpsoplugin.so Version: OpenOffice.org Plug-in handles all its documents MIME Type Description Suffixes application/vnd.stardivision.calc StarCalc 3.0 - 5.0 sdc application/vnd.stardivision.chart StarChart 3.0 - 5.0 sds application/vnd.stardivision.draw StarDraw 3.0 - 5.0 sda application/vnd.stardivision.impress StarImpress 3.0 - 5.0 sdd application/vnd.stardivision.impress-packed StarImpress-packed 3.0 - 5.0 sdp application/vnd.stardivision.math StarMath 3.0 - 5.0 smf application/vnd.stardivision.writer StarWriter Template 3.0 - 5.0 vor application/vnd.stardivision.writer-global StarWriter Global 3.0 - 5.0 sgl application/vnd.staroffice.writer StarWriter 3.0 - 5.0 sdw application/vnd.sun.xml.calc StarOffice 6.0/7 Spreadsheet sxc application/vnd.sun.xml.calc.template StarOffice 6.0/7 Spreadsheet Template stc application/vnd.sun.xml.draw StarOffice 6.0/7 Drawing sxd application/vnd.sun.xml.draw.template StarOffice 6.0/7 Drawing Template std application/vnd.sun.xml.impress StarOffice 6.0/7 Presentation sxi application/vnd.sun.xml.impress.template StarOffice 6.0/7 Presentation Template sti application/vnd.sun.xml.math StarOffice 6.0/7 Formula sxm application/vnd.sun.xml.writer StarOffice 6.0/7 Text Document sxw application/vnd.sun.xml.writer.global StarOffice 6.0/7 Master Document sxg application/vnd.sun.xml.writer.template StarOffice 6.0/7 Text Document Template stw application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text OpenDocument Text odt application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-template OpenDocument Text Template ott application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-master OpenDocument Master Document odm application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-web HTML Document Template oth application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet OpenDocument Spreadsheet ods application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet-template OpenDocument Spreadsheet Template ots application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics OpenDocument Drawing odg application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics-template OpenDocument Drawing Template otg application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation OpenDocument Presentation odp application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation-template OpenDocument Presentation Template otp application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula OpenDocument Formula odf

  • How do I read old star office 5.x spreadcheet documents today? (*.sdc)

    - by Johan
Hi I found a couple of old spreadsheet documents that I created a couple of years ago that I would like to read again. I think I used the old Star Office 5.2 to create those Spreadsheets. They all have names like *.sdc I have tried to use Open Office to open them, but he can't recognise what it is. Does anybody have any idea how I can open those documents? Thanks Johan

  • .NEt on WIN to Mono on Ubuntu

    - by Srikanth
I am looking at a possibility to change my ASP.NET 2.0 app to Mono framework. I have used the mono analyzer tool and it does detect some p/invoke and interop dependencies. For ex. 1) We use excel interops and on linux we are looking to use staroffice/Openoffice instead. Is there an easy way of substituting excel with staroffice? (I know it sounds bizarre, but just don't want to miss out in case anyone has done it already.) 2) LDAP auth: What could be the best alternative in Ubuntu (or an other flavour of Linux) ? 3) Is there an ajax framework for mono? Preferably with similar controls as Atlas?? I hope I am not too ambitious here.. thanks.

  • unable to run OpenOffice from text mode

    - by dilip
I have installed OpenOffice in Redhat5 in text mode. When I tried to start OpenOffice using the command: sudo /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice "-accept=socket,host=localhost,port=8100; urp;StarOffice.ServiceManager " -nologo -headless -nofirststartwizard: " It shows the error saying javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment! So I installed jre in my system, and then I did not get any error but OpenOffice does not start. Also I checked the process regarding OpenOffice, but I haven's seen any process related to that. Can any one help me to fix this issue?

  • The 'desktops' move to Oracle

    - by [email protected]
The move to Oracle has been most interesting.  Here we have an organization who are interested in what they are interested in.  Not so much in things that aren't 'core'. The legacy Sun desktop products are things that Oracle is interested in.  To that end there are some changes coming to policies and products - and from my perspective they are all good. Very good. One of the changes to the Product suite is that we are now referred to as part of the Virtualization team, falling under Oracle's Chief Corporate Archtiect, Edward Screven.  Edward says that the Products were a 'gem' found inside the great pile of stuff that was Sun. Another change is that while StarOffice/Open Office has been certainly endorsed by Oracle, and it also falls under Edward's purview, and here has been a push on to use it as opposed to... well... you know.    It is not, however, part of the Virtualization team's product suite any more. There are some other really interesting changes coming that you will hear about quite soon.  The big message for today, though, is that Sun Rays, Secure Global Desktop, VirtualBox, and Oracle VDI software are all still alive and kicking and moving forward.  Infact, at the Oracle earnings call last week, Charles Phillips announced more significant wins with Sun Rays in the US Federal Governmnet space.  He could have talked about all kinds of legacy Sun products, but chose to mention Sun Rays in the first Quarterly statement since the acquisition of Sun - you should see this as a very good sign indeed. More soon - until then...
