  • Move the Status Bar Web Address Display to the Address Bar

    Is the ability to see the addresses for weblinks the only reason that you keep the Status Bar visible? Now you can hide the Status Bar and move that address display to the Address Bar in Firefox. Before Here is the normal “Status Bar” address display for the weblink we were hovering the mouse over in our browser. That is nice but if you really prefer to keep the “Status Bar” hidden what do you do? Move that display to a better (and definitely more convenient) location. After Once you have the extension installed that is all there is to it…you are ready to go. Notice the address display in “Address Bar”. That is definitely looking nice. Just for fun we temporarily left the “Status Bar” visible as a demonstration while hovering over the link. And then with the “Status Bar” totally disabled…more screen real-estate is always a good thing. Note: The Status Address Bar extension does not show the original address behind shortened URLs. Conclusion If you are looking for an alternate way to see the address behind weblinks and acquire more screen real-estate, then the Status Bar extension will be a wonderful addition to your Firefox Browser.   • Regular expression to remove one parameter from query string

    I'm looking for a regular expression to remove a single parameter from a query string, and I want to do it in a single regular expression if possible. Say I want to remove the foo parameter. Right now I use this: /&?foo\=[^&]+/ That works as long as foo is not the first parameter in the query string. If it is, then my new query string starts with an ampersand. (For example, "foo=123&bar=456" gives a result of "&bar=456".) Right now, I'm just checking after the regex if the query string starts with ampersand, and chopping it off if it does. Example edge cases: Input | Output -------------------------+----------------- foo=123 | (empty string) foo=123&bar=456 | bar=456 bar=456&foo=123 | bar=456 abc=789&foo=123&bar=456 | abc=789&bar=456 Edit OK as pointed out in comments there are there are way more edge cases than I originally considered. I got the following regex to work with all of them: /&foo(\=[^&]*)?(?=&|$)|^foo(\=[^&]*)?(&|$)/ This is modified from Mark Byers's answer, which is why I'm accepting that one, but Roger Pate's input helped a lot too.   • Progress bar in notification bar

    Hello everybody, I would like to put a progress bar in the notification bar. The idea is showing the progress bar while the program uploads a file to a server. Everything else is ok, but I can not figure out how to refresh the progress bar inside the notification. Does anybody knows any pattern to play with? I mean, where I should refresh the progress bar, in a service or activity and so. Thanks in advance.

    I upgraded from 12.04.1 to 12.10 via the Update Manager and the upgrade said it completed successfuly. However after rebooting the unity task bar was missing along with the launch bar and the window declorations. All compiz settings seemed to be purge deleted, and at first bootup it gave me a system error. The desktop exists, and once I remember I messed up the compiz settings and just had to press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and in the virtual terminal type "unity --reset" then "sudo reboot". Everything worked as if i reinstalled the entire operating system. This time it said “Warning no variable set. setting to :0. The reset option is now dupricated”. What am I suppose to do now? I need this fixed as soon as possible because I need a couple of certainly installed programs and the data within them (long story short).

    The background One of the functionality of a product that I am currently working on is to process a set of compressed files ( containing XML files ) that will be made available at a fixed location periodically (local or remote location - doesn't really matter for now) and dump the contents of each XML file in a database. I have taken care of the design for a generic parsing module that should be able to accommodate the parsing of any file type as I have explained in my question linked below. There is no need to take a look at the following link to answer my question but it would definitely provide a better context to the problem Generic file parser design in Java using the Strategy pattern The Goal I want to be able to keep a track of the status of each XML file and the status of each compressed file containing the XML files. I can probably have different statuses defined for the XML files such as NEW, PROCESSING, LOADING, COMPLETE or FAILED. I can derive the status of a compressed file based on the status of the XML files within the compressed file. e.g status of the compressed file is COMPLETE if no XML file inside the compressed file is in a FAILED state or status of the compressed file is FAILED if the status of at-least one XML file inside the compressed file is FAILED. A possible solution The Model I need to maintain the status of each XML file and the compressed file. I will have to define some POJOs for holding the information about an XML file as shown below.     I'm having a problem getting /server-status to work Apache 2.2.14 on Ubuntu Server 10.04.1. The default symlinks for status.load and status.conf are present in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled. The status.conf does include the location /server-status and appropriate allow/deny directives. However, the only vhost I have in sites-enabled looks like this. The idea is to proxy anything with a Tomcat URL to a cluster of tomcats, and anything else to an IIS box. However, this seems to result in requests to /server-status being sent to IIS. Copying the /server-status in explicitly to the Vhost configuration doesn't seem to help, no matter what order I use. I am interested in monitoring connections -- most specifically KeepAlive connections to make sure KeepAlive is working correctly. The problem is I only see the full connection info for the /server-status request itself. All other requests do not have the URI or hist columns filled in: X.X.X.X 0/0 0/4673 handle-req 0 test.mydomain.com /server-status (/server-status) This makes it difficult to know which URL was last handled by a particular connection. Is there something special that I need to do to show this information(URI) in /server-status?

  • Unity bar and Menu bar Gone

    I have a bootable usb stick that has Ubuntu 12.10 on it, so I loaded it onto my computer which is semi old because it was really full and ubuntu is nice software when it works. And all went well until I booted it up the first time and it said that the Compiz thing was missing and I looked that up on the internet and I must have typed 20 different codes into terminal, and nothing seemed to work. Can you please help? I dont know what to do anymore and the only thing I can do it open up terminal because nothing pops up on the screen. Thanks :)

    I'm trying to write an application that uses a navigation bar and tab bar in what (I'm gathering) is an unusual manner. Basically, I've got several "pages" ("home", "settings", etc) that each have their own tab. I'd also like to have it so that the "home" page is the root view of the navigation bar, and the other pages are the second-level views of the navigation bar. That is, I should be able to navigate to any page by clicking the appropriate tab bar item, and should be able to navigate to the home page from any other page by clicking the navigation bar's back button. Currently, I have a UINavigationBar (through a UINavigationController) and a UITabBar (through a UITabController) as children of a UIView. The various pages' view controllers are set as the tab controller's viewControllers property, and the home page's controller is also set as the navigation controller's root view. Each page view's tag is set to its index in the tab control. I have the following logic in the tab controller's didSelectViewController delegate method: - (void) tabBarController:(UITabBarController*) tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController*) viewController { if ([navController.viewControllers count] > 1) [navController popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [navController pushViewController:viewController animated:YES]; } Also, in the navigation controller's didShowViewController delegate method, I have the following code: - (void) navigationController:(UINavigationController *) navigationController didShowViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController animated:(BOOL)animated { tabController.selectedIndex = viewController.view.tag; } The problem that's occurring is that when I run this, the navigation bar, tab bar and home page all display ok, but the tab bar will not respond to input - I cannot select a different tab. I gather it's more usual to have the tab bar as the child of the navigation control, or vice versa. This doesn't seem to fit my approach, because I don't want to have to individually create the subordinate control each time a change occurs in the parent control - eg: recreate tab bar each time the navigation bar changes. Does anyone have suggestions as to what's wrong and how to fix it? I'm probably missing something obvious, but whatever it is I can't seem to find it. Thanks! EDIT: I'm guessing it has something to do with both controller's trying to have ownership of the page controller, but I can't for the life of me figure out a way around it.

  • /users/tags should contain scores

    I am implementing some simple JavaScript/bookmarklet based apps that show some reputation info, including the score in the User's top tags (roughly based on this previous bookmarklet of mine). Now I can get a user's top tags (using the API), and I can also get the per-tag score if the user is logged in, by dynamically parsing the tag's top users page. But it costs me one AJAX request per tag and I have to download 10+k to extract a single numeric value. It would save a lot of traffic if the tags in <api>/users/<userid>/tags had a score field. The data seems to be there, after all the top users pages use it, so it would just be a question of exposing the data.   • Why does a Non-existant page returns 302 status when using a custom 404 page in asp.net

    I have setup custom 404 page custom404.aspx that returns a 404 Not Found error correctly, however the non-existant page that was initially requested returns a 302 Found status. So when I test thispagedoesnotexist.aspx, it returns a 302 Found then the custom404.aspx loads and returns a 404 Not Found status. I want to make sure that search spiders/bots understand that the requested page does not exist and should not show up in any search results. Is this the case? Cheers
