• C# WinForms StatusStrip - How do I reclaim the space from the "Grip"

  I've got a StatusStrip with a single ToolStripStatusLabel, Spring=true and a background color for notifications. The problem is that there's an ugly gray square on the right side of the status strip. After fiddling for a while, I realized this is the sizing grip (I had is set to SizingGrip=false, GripStyle=Hidden). Yet even with it hidden, it still hogs the space. I can't get any content on the status strip to extend all the way to the right. How would you work around this? Note I can't just set the backcolor of the StatusStrip because the Status Label changes colors and has some fading effects.

• Winforms StatusStrip - why are there periods where it is blank when I'm updating it???

  Hi, BACKGROUND: I have a WindowForms v3.5 application with a StatusStrip set to be used as a TooStripStatusLabel. I'm issues quite a lot of updates to it during a task that is running, however there are noticable periods where it is BLANK. There are no points when I am writing a blank to the status strip label either. QUESTION: Any ideas why I would be seeing period where the status strip label is blank, when I don't expect it to be? How I update it: private void UpdateStatusStrip(string text) { toolStripStatusLabel1.Text = text; toolStripStatusLabel1.Invalidate(); this.Update(); } thanks

  I want to show a ContextMenuStrip at the location of a ToolStripStatusLabel in a StatusStrip. Ordinary controls have PointToScreen / PointToClient / etc, but as ToolStripStatusLabel is derived from Component it does not. Any help would be appreciated.

  I have a .NET application with a StatusStrip holding three ToolTipStatusLabels. The Text of the labels are filled from the application as they show the status. For some circumstances they can hold an empty text. When I resize the window, the ToolTipStatusLabels are hidden when they cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. I would like to have the text truncated when the label cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. The default behavior to hide the label makes it difficult to distinguish between empty text or hidden label. To indicate that the text is truncated automatically, this should be indicated with an ellipsis (...). How can this be done?

• VS2010 is removing code from designer without warning - causing issues

  I have a WinForm with a pretty complex layout (has lots of controls, panels, etc.) Whenever i open the form the file is automatically checked out from source control and it removes anything in the designer file that refereces my menustrip or statusstrip ie: the following get removed (w/o warning) Me.MyMenuStip.SuspendLayout() Me.MyStatusStrip.SuspendLayout() Me.MyMenuStrip.ResumeLayout(False) Me.MyMenuStrip.PerformLayout() Me.MyStatusStrip.ResumeLayout(False) Me.MyStatusStrip.PerformLayout() The code still builds, but there are no Menu or Status items rendered. Any ideas on what i can do? I do not want to just remove/add the menustrip for instance cause i would loose all of my menu items (and there are a lot) Thanks in advance!
