• Tabexpansion function Does Not Resolve Variable

  I'm attempting to override and implement my own TabExpansion. In the function I want to parse the contents of $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text when a certain $lastword criteria is matched. The issue I have is that the variable $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text is resolved to the contents of my TabExpansion function rather than whatever text is in a PowerShell ISE tab. Here's simple test function. Open an ISE tab and paste the following tabexpansion function definition: function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Run the script in ISE. Next open another tab in ISE type some text and press the tab key The output will be function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Rather than whatever text was in the second tab. Is there any way to get $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text to resolve at runtime when used within a tabexpansion function?

• tabexpansion doesn't fall through if overridden

  The tabexpansion function only works partially when I override it like so: function tabexpansion { param($line, $lastWord) if ($line -eq "hey ") { "you", "Joe" } } The custom completions work as expected, but now I only get the default autocomplete behavior for cmdlet names, not parameters. So New-TAB works fine, but New-Alias -TAB doesn't. How do I get the regular completions too after overriding tabexpansion?

  Is it possible to implement parameter value tab expansion for enum parameter types? Creating a binary cmdlet with parameter definition: [Parameter] public SomeEnum Type {get;set;} Is there some way to type: Add-MyThing -Type S<tab> To get: Add-MyThing -Type SomeEnumValue Where: public enum SomeEnum { SomeEnumValue, SomeEnumValue2 } I know it may be possible with overriding the TabExpansion function but I was wondering if there was something I could do within my cmdlet to expose this type of functionality.
