  • PHP/Codeigniter FTP Timout

    - by Jack Hayter
    I'm trying to access an FTP server from my PHP script using Codeigniter's FTP Library. These functions work great, but when testing the script I discovered that if I attempt to connect to a server that does not exist, the script does not terminate with an error message of any kind. The page continues to execute, until the web server gives up, returning an empty document. So I am wondering, is there a way to limit the amount of time that Codeigniter can try to connect to an FTP server, then display a message if that times out? I tried using the php function set_time_limit(), but it does not behave how I expected it to. Thanks for your help.

  • Timout dead connections to Digi PortServer TS16

    - by MT
    We are using Digi portservers for console management of our routers. Basically users telnet to the Digis on ports 2001-2016 (corresponding to the physical serial port they want to connect to). Does anyone know if there is a way to cause the digi to close/release a user's connection after an period of idle time and if possible, where that time can be specified?

  • ASP.NET Authentication Cookie timout and IIS 7 setting

    - by David Laplante
    Hello, I have an ASP.NET website for which i've set the authetication timeout to 60 days so that my users don't have to log in each time they come back if they checked the "remember me" option. Basic ASP.NET login mechanism... It's working fine on my developpement server as well as on the visual studio built-in web server. I can close the browser, wait around 30-40 minutes and browse back to the site and be automatically logged in. However, I've not moved the site to a hosting provider and it seems that whatever I do to my Web.config file, the cookie expires after around 30 minutes (hard to tell the exact amount of time). I have asked the provider's help support and they basically told me: "Web.config file is to configure your website. Please do not change it if you don't know what you are doing" Frustrating answer indeed... To be sure, I checked everywhere on the net for exceptions, fine prints, in the basic asp.net authentication but found none. I have access to IIS remote management for my site (IIS 7) but don't really know where to look. Can there be something in the IIS setting that is overriding my web.config authentication setting? What should I do... Thanks for you help!

  • How to get back to Lock Screen from Password screen in Microsoft Surface?

    - by GaTechThomas
    Similar to question, Can I bring the lock screen back after dismissing it? ('go back a screen' from password entry) How do I go back to the Lock Screen once I've gone to the password screen in Microsoft Surface tablet? This is a different mechanism from using the referenced question in that no physical keyboard is available. Alternately, can the timout on the password screen be shortened?

  • Disable remote session timeout on Win Server 2012 R2

    - by Sarchophagi
    For botting purposes, I have to keep my Win Server 2012 R2 running without logging-off after I disconnect from Remote Session. Found information about it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754272.aspx but I just its for Win Server 2008 and doesn't seem to work on 2012 version. Could you guys help me setting infinite timout? EDIT: Tried this answer Changing the login timeout for Windows Remote Desktop Services but without results.. MORE DETAIL ABOUT WHAT I NEED: I connect to Amazon ECL Istance with "Remote Desktop Conection". I need to put remote server to keep running as if an user was normally remotely logged in, and prevent it from going to that log-out stand-by screen, usually blue coloured @ winserver2012, because i'm using macros that take screenshots of screen and find bitmap positions, do clicks, move mouse and stuff..

  • Nhibernate setting query time out period for commands and pessimistic locking

    - by Nagesh
    I wish to specify a specific command timeout (or LOCK_TIMEOUT) for an SQL and once this time out is reached an exception (or alert) has to be raised in nHibernate. The following is an example pseudo-code what I have written: using (var session = sessionFactory.OpenSession()) { using (var sqlTrans = session.BeginTransaction()) { ICriteria criteria = session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Foo)); criteria.SetTimeout(5); //Here is the specified command timout, eg: property SqlCommand.CommandTimeout Foo fooObject = session.Load<Foo>(primaryKeyIntegerValue, LockMode.Force); session.SaveOrUpdate(fooObject); sqlTrans.Commit(); } } In SQL server we used to achieve this using the following SQL: BEGIN TRAN SET LOCK_TIMEOUT 500 SELECT * FROM Foo WITH (UPDLOCK, ROWLOCK) WHERE PrimaryKeyID = 1000001 If PrimaryKeyID row would have locked in other transaction the following error message is being shown by SQL Server: Msg 1222, Level 16, State 51, Line 3 Lock request time out period exceeded Similarly I wish to show a lock time out or command time out information using nHibernate. Please help me to achieve this. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Session Timeout and page response time

    - by Johnny5
    Hi, I'm load testing an asp.net app. The load test is simulating 500 user doing searchs on the site and browsing the results. I'm observing that the more I reduce the session timeout limit (in web.config) the better the page response time. For exemple, with a timeout at 10 minutes, I got an average response time of 8.35 seconds. With a timout at 3 minutes, the average response time for the same page is 3,98 seconds. The session in stored "InProc". I supposed the memory used by the "no more used but still actives" sessions may be in cause. But, even if there is more memory used when the timeout is at 10, there is still plenty of memory available (about 2.7Gb). Any ideas?

  • Intermittent extrememly long response times when downloading documents

    - by pap
    I have a Java web application running om Tomcat 7 with an Apache httpd 2.2 fronting with mod_jk/AJP. One part of the application is serving files (up to 4mb size). Now, normally this all runs very smooth with stable, low response-times. However, in rare instances (<0.1% of downloads), the downloadtime will go beyond 1 minute. After activating the ThreadStuckValve in Tomcat, I can see that the long responses seem to be stuck at org.apache.tomcat.jni.Socket.sendbb(Native method) i.e network I/O. At most, these long-running downloads take 5 minutes, which I strongly suspect is because of the default 300 second timout in Apache 2.2 (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/core.html, "TimeOut directive"). To me, this looks like network problems. The Apache timeout (if that is what is kicking in at the 5 minute mark) indicates that ACK packets are not being transmitted correctly. My questions are what could be causing this? Closed browser at receiving end but socket not signaled as closed properly? Packet loss or some other network failure in transit? Where would I start troubleshooting this? We're running Tomcat and Apache on Windows server 2008-R2 in a vmware virtualized server.

  • SQL Server Blocking Issue

    - by Robin Weston
    We currently have an issue that occurs roughly once a day on SQL 2005 database server, although the time it happens is not consistent. Basically, the database grinds to a halt, and starts refusing connections with the following error message. This includes logging into SSMS: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) Our CPU usage for SQL is usually around 15%, but when the DB is in it's broken state it's around 70%, so it's clearly doing something, even if no-one can connect. Even if I disable the web app that uses the database the CPU still doesn't go down. I am unable to restart the SQLSERVER process as it is unresponsive, so I have to end up killing the process manually, which then puts the DB into Suspect/Recovery mode (which I can fix but it's a pain). Below are some PerfMon stats I gathered when the DB was in it's broken state which might help. I have a bunch more if people want to request them: Active Transactions: 2 (Never Changes) Logical Connections: 34 (NC) Process Blocked: 16 (NC) User Connections: 30 (NC) Batch Request: 0 (NC) Active Jobs: 2 (NC) Log Truncations: 596 (NC) Log Shrinks: 24 (NC) Longest Running Transaction Time: 99 (NC) I guess they key is finding out what the DB is using it's CPU on, but as I can't even log into SSMS this isn't possible with the standard methods. Disturbingly, I can't even use the dedicated admin connection to get into SSMS. I get the same timout as with all other requests. Any advice, reccomendations, or even sympathy, is much appreciated!

  • How to write this JavaScript code without eval?

    - by karlthorwald
    How to write this JavaScript code without eval? var typeOfString = eval("typeof " + that.modules[modName].varName); if (typeOfString !== "undefined") { doSomething(); } The point is that the name of the var that I want to check for is in a string. Maybe it is simple but I don't know how. Edit: Thank you for the very interesting answers so far. I will follow your suggestions and integrate this into my code and do some testing and report. Could take a while. Edit2: I had another look at the could and maybe itis better I show you a bigger picture. I am greatful for the experts to explain so beautiful, it is better with more code: MYNAMESPACE.Loader = ( function() { function C() { this.modules = {}; this.required = {}; this.waitCount = 0; this.appendUrl = ''; this.docHead = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0]; } function insert() { var that = this; //insert all script tags to the head now! //loop over all modules: for (var modName in this.required) { if(this.required.hasOwnProperty(modName)){ if (this.required[modName] === 'required') { this.required[modName] = 'loading'; this.waitCount = this.waitCount + 1; this.insertModule(modName); } } } //now poll until everything is loaded or //until timout this.intervalId = 0; var checkFunction = function() { if (that.waitCount === 0) { clearInterval(that.intervalId); that.onSuccess(); return; } for (var modName in that.required) { if(that.required.hasOwnProperty(modName)){ if (that.required[modName] === 'loading') { var typeOfString = eval("typeof " + that.modules[modName].varName); if (typeOfString !== "undefined") { //module is loaded! that.required[modName] = 'ok'; that.waitCount = that.waitCount - 1; if (that.waitCount === 0) { clearInterval(that.intervalId); that.onSuccess(); return; } } } } } }; //execute the function twice a second to check if all is loaded: this.intervalId = setInterval(checkFunction, 500); //further execution will be in checkFunction, //so nothing left to do here } C.prototype.insert = insert; //there are more functions here... return C; }()); var myLoader = new MYNAMESPACE.Loader(); //some more lines here... myLoader.insert();

  • SMO ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout setting is ignored

    - by Woody
    I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell. This is extremely annoying! function New-SMOconnection { Param ($server, $ApplicationName= "PowerShell SMO", [int]$StatementTimeout = 0 ) # Write-Debug "Function: New-SMOconnection $server $connectionname $commandtimeout" if (test-path variable:\conn) { $conn.connectioncontext.disconnect() } else { $conn = New-Object('Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server') $server } $conn.connectioncontext.applicationName = $applicationName $conn.ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout = $StatementTimeout $conn.connectioncontext.Connect() $conn } $smo = New-SMOConnection -server $server if ($smo.connectioncontext.isopen -eq $false) { Throw "Could not connect to server $($server)." } Function Backup-Database { Param([string]$dbname) $db = $smo.Databases.get_Item($dbname) if (!$db) {"Database $dbname was not found"; Return} $sqldir = $smo.Settings.BackupDirectory + "\$($smo.name -replace ("\\", "$"))" $s = ($server.Split('\'))[0] $basedir = "\\$s\" + $($sqldir -replace (":", "$")) $dt = get-date -format yyyyMMdd-HHmmss $dbbk = new-object ('Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Backup') $dbbk.Action = 'Database' $dbbk.BackupSetDescription = "Full backup of " + $dbname $dbbk.BackupSetName = $dbname + " Backup" $dbbk.Database = $dbname $dbbk.MediaDescription = "Disk" $target = "$basedir\$dbname\FULL" if (-not(Test-Path $target)) { New-Item $target -ItemType directory | Out-Null} $device = "$sqldir\$dbname\FULL\" + $($server -replace("\\", "$")) + "_" + $dbname + "_FULL_" + $dt + ".bak" $dbbk.Devices.AddDevice($device, 'File') $dbbk.Initialize = $True $dbbk.Incremental = $false $dbbk.LogTruncation = [Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.BackupTruncateLogType]::Truncate If (!$copyonly) { If ($kill) {$smo.KillAllProcesses($dbname)} $dbbk.SqlBackupAsync($server) } $dbbk } Started SQL backups for server LCFSQLxxx\SQLxxx at 05/06/2010 15:33:16 Statement TimeOut value set to 0.
