Ubuntu 12.04 Hp G72 Problem Installing proprietary wireless driver

I have a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 installed on HP G72 machine. In order for my wireless to work I need the proprietary driver installed - Broadcom STA wireless driver. Trying to install it from the System Settings gives me the error: "Sorry, installation of this driver failed. Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log". So far I suspect the error to be caused by the bad "bcmwl-kernel-source" installation.
What i tried:
1. remove "bcmwl-kernel-source"
2. install "bcmwl-kernel-source"
installation through the terminal ends with "error code (1)".
I would greatly appreciate any help
