    It is probably piece of cake for You, but I'm in the black hole now and I don't know what is the problem with The Wall. I would like to do something as www.wall.plasm.it/examples/example-the-wall/. Please - look at: www.megainstal.pl/ there is not any images. Could You help with fix it? I will be really grateful for any help/information. Short story: 1) I download the files from github: https://github.com/plasm/the-wall 2) I changed only 3 files: 01-wall.css, index.html, 01-wall.js (case: basic) 3) in 01-wall.js I declared images: var a = new Element("img[src=../../img/middle/"+counterFluid+".jpg]"); 4) images that are: 1 to 76.jpg Could you point me to where I making a mistake?   • Gnome Activity Journal does not show recently used files

    I am running ubuntu 10.10, and installed Gnome Activity Journal. However it does not show any recently used files. I have attached a screenshot below. Please note that gnome activity journal has been installed on the system for quite some time. So it is not that I recently installed and it still has to slowly gather data. Also the zeitgeist-daemon is running in the background. Would reinstalling zeitgeist help solve this problem? If yes could you please provide a ppa where I can find the latest stable release of zeitgeist.

  • Should every programmer keep a "Lessons Learned" journal?

    Every time I've finished a project, there is always something that I've learned (otherwise I don't find it very motivating). But I can't remember everything, and much later I may stumble across the same problem that I encountered in a previous project but no longer how I solved it (or at least what attempts I made). So would it be a good idea to write this down in a journal of some sort? I know that writing stuff down feels like writing documentation (which not everyone enjoys doing), and hope our memory to serve us when needed. But having it documented, it could be shared with other programmers and learn what lessons they learned. So, what do you think?

  • DDNS Not Creating Journal (Dhcpd and Named)

    * EDIT 1 * After monkeying with additional debug logging I see some log entries of interest. 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: journal rollforward failed: no more 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: not loaded due to errors. ^^^ If I can remedy the above messages I think I'll be good to go ^^^ * EDIT 2 * Grasping at straws I touched a forward and a reverse zone journal file and restarted named. Boom! Works. Despite documentation stating the files are created automatically and what I have seen before... dunno why but that did the trick. Also re-checked perms on the dir the files live in. As certain as I was, they were correct with named having rw. CentOS 6 (final) dhcpd 4.1.1-P1 named BIND 9.8.2rc1-RedHat-9.8.2-0.10.rc1.el6 Basic DHCP and DNS functionality are in place on 192.168.111.2. Clients are assigned addresses as intended and can resolve local DNS names as well as Internet names. My problem is that named's zone journal files are not created. chroot: /var/named/chroot I tried placing the zone files in various directories (/var/named/data, /var/named, /var/named/dynamic - no matter which dir with named owning and wide open perms I now get nowhere). Along the way I, at one point, got a permission denied when named tried to create the journal. Resolved the issue by: chown --recursive named:named /var/named chmod --recursive 777 /var/named The journal was then created and here's where things fell apart. I attempted to tame permissions to something more sane and broke it. Once changed and having restarted named it threw an error indicating the journal was out of sync (or something to that affect)... didn't matter since this is a new setup so I deleted it and now it is not recreated. Now though I see no errors in /var/log/messages, my chrooted /var/log/named.log, or chrooted /var/log/named.debug. I increased the debug level with 'rndc trace' - no love. Increased trace to 10, still nothing. SELinux is disabled...   • Graph data structures and journal format for mini-IDE

    Background: I am writing a small/partial IDE. Code is internally converted/parsed into a graph data structure (for fast navigation, syntax-check etc). Functionality to undo/redo (also between sessions) and restoring from crash is implemented by writing to and reading from journal. The journal records modifications to the graph (not to the source). Question: I am hoping for advice on a decision on data-structures and journal format. For the graph I see two possible versions: g-a Graph edges are implemented in the way that one node stores references to other nodes via memory address g-b Every node has an ID. There is an ID-to-memory-address map. Graph uses IDs (instead of addresses) to connect nodes. Moving along an edge from one node to another each time requires lookup in ID-to-address map. And also for the journal: j-a There is a current node (like current working directory in a shell + file-system setting). The journal contains entries like "create new node and connect to current", "connect first child of current node" (relative IDs) j-b Journal uses absolute IDs, e.g. "delete edge 7 - 5", "delete node 5" I could e.g. combine g-a with j-a or combine g-b with j-b. In principle also g-b and j-a should be possible. [My first/original attempt was g-a and a version of j-b that uses addresses, but that turned out to cause severe restrictions: nodes cannot change their addresses (or journal would have to keep track of it), and using journal between two sessions is a mess (or even impossible)] I wonder if variant a or variant b or a combination would be a good idea, what advantages and disadvantages they would have and especially if some variant might be causing troubles later.

  • Access Music from Amie Street in Boxee

    One of our favorite sites for discovering new music is Amie Street. Today we take a look at the Amie Street app for Boxee that allows you to access your favorite tunes from the Boxee interface. Amie Street is a cool site that allows you to discover a lot of cool music from independent artists. What makes Amie Street unique is that most of the music starts out free, then the price goes up incrementally as its popularity grows. The Amie Street App for Boxee let’s you access music and playlists you’ve created on the site, with more features are on the way. For this example we’re using the mouse and keyboard, but of course you can also get to each section using your remote if you have one. Or you can turn your iPod touch into a Boxee remote too. Amie Street in Boxee To access the Amie Street app, launch Boxee and click on Apps from the main menu. Under the Search Sidebar type in Amie Street and select it from the results field.   Then you can add it to the My Apps section…and double-click on the icon. Click on Start to begin using it. You’ll be be presented with a Welcome screen where you can sign into your account. If you don’t have an account yet, there is also an option to go to the Amie Street site and create one. Enter in your account credentials… Now you’ll be able to access your Library, Playlists, Search for new tunes, and check out your Recommended bands and artists. Hover the pointer over an album to get a bit more info about it such as the music genre. You’ll be able to play the songs from the playlists you created on the Amie Street site. You can browse through the history of the music you’ve played as well. Not all the features of this app seem to work as you’d expect them to, and some of the features are not yet available like the Browse feature.   Conclusion At the time of this writing we weren’t able to purchase music or get additional information about the artists. As development continues on Boxee and this app, you can expect more of a full user experience and the ability to purchase music. Even though some of the features are a bit buggy or not available, if you’re a Boxee user and a fan of Amie Street, this is cool app to add to your collection.   • changing ext4 journal data mode with remount?

    I'm tweaking ext4 file system for speed, one tweak at a time. First tweak is to change from "data=ordered" to "data=writeback". To test this, I execute "mount -n -o remount,data=ordered /" but I keep getting "mount: / not mounted already, or bad option". From lots of google'ing I found many questions about similar problems and one answer circa 2001+ext3 which says that you can't change the journal mode with remount. Is this limitation still current?

  • Collision detection - Smooth wall sliding, no bounce effect

    I'm working on a basic collision detection system that provides point - OBB collision detection. I have around 200 cubes in my environment and I check (for now) each of them in turn and see if it collides. If it does I return the colliding face's normal, save the old player position and do some trigonometry to return a new player position for my wall sliding. edit I'll define my meaning of wall sliding: If a player walks in a vertical slope and has a slight horizontal rotation to the left or the right and keeps walking forward in the wall the player should slide a little to the right/left while continually walking towards the wall till he left the wall. Thus, sliding along the wall. Everything works fine and with multiple objects as well but I still have one problem I can't seem to figure out: smooth wall sliding. In my current implementation sliding along the walls make my player bounce like a mad man (especially noticable with gravity on and moving forward). I have a velocity/direction vector, a normal vector from the collided plane and an old and new player position. First I negate the normal vector and get my new velocity vector by substracting the inverted normal from my direction vector (which is the vector to slide along the wall) and I add this vector to my new Player position and recalculate the direction vector (in case I have multiple collisions). I know I am missing some step but I can't seem to figure it out.   • How do you deal with duplicate street suffixes?

    I have a system where users need to enter addresses. I am trying to limit duplicates of course and something I started noticing was becoming a big problem was some users putting in "Road" and others "Rd", therefore duplicates were creeping in. I looked up the list of USPS street suffix abbreviations but I still have a question which I can't find an answer to. Can I replace all words in a street address with the USPS standard abbreviation? An example would be "123 Forest Hill Road". If I were to replace it with the abbreviations it would then be "123 Frst Hl Rd" or does the "street suffix" that USPS is referring to mean they only want you to make go as far as "123 Forest Hill Rd"?

  • Why is a journal rule in Exchange 2007 causing messages to arrive in the journal account in non-enve

    The bulk of the messages in the journal account on Exchange 2k7 arrive in the appropriate format, message body contains header information while actual message body is attached, but a rather large number of messages are arriving in the journal without this format. The to/from pair of these messages does not show the journal as a recipient, so this isn't a case of the journal receiving these as a recipient. They appear to be journaled using the journal rule, but the format is incorrect.

  • this.BoundingBox.Intersects(Wall[0].BoundingBox) not working properly

    I seem to be having this problem a lot, I'm still learning XNA / C# and well, trying to make a classic paddle and ball game. The problem I run into (and after debugging have no answer) is that everytime I run my game and press either of the movement keys, the Paddle won't move. Debugging shows that it never gets to the movement part, but I can't understand why not? Here's my code: // This is the If statement for checking Left movement. if (keyboardState.IsKeyDown(Keys.Left) || keyboardState.IsKeyDown(Keys.A)) { if (!CheckCollision(walls[0])) { Location.X -= Velocity; } } //This is the CheckCollision(Wall wall) boolean public bool CheckCollision(Wall wall) { if (this.BoundingBox.Intersects(wall.BoundingBox)) { return true; } return false; } As far as I can tell there should be absolutely no problem with this, I initialize the bounding box in the constructor whenever a new instance of Walls and Paddle is created. this.BoundingBox = new Rectangle(0, 0, Sprite.Width, Sprite.Height); Any idea as to why this isn't working? I have previously succeeded with using the whole Location.X < Wall.Location.X + Wall.Texture.Width code... But to me that seems like too much coding if a simple boolean check could be done.

    Hi, I'm trying to convert my poll app into a Facebook iframe app. My app is written in PHP and uses some Ajax calls to vote at a poll. In the application canvas everything is working fine, but of course I want to get the poll on the wall of a user too. Unfortunately I'm not able to find out how I can post a simple poll with some radio buttons for the options on the wall. I know how to publish images, text, audio files and links to the wall, but I have no idea how to publish my poll on the wall. And I don't just want to use links to vote, I want the user be able to choose a radio button. Does anyone have an idea how to do this or where to find information about doing this? I'm stuck there now for a while and it gets pretty frustrating. I'm using the new Graph API by the way. Or is this impossible? But I don't think so. Any help is appreciated. Bengt

    I've seen that it's possible to get the latitude and longitude (geocoding, like in Google Maps API) from a street address, but is it possible to do the reverse and get the street address when you know what the lat/long already is? The application would be an iPhone app (and why the app already knows lat/long), so anything from a web service to an iPhone API would work.

    To make a scene street illuminated, i tried, point source light, used glMaterial and used ambient light...... I get a scene fully illuminated, not exactly the way like street light, can anyone share resources or explain how exactly i can achieve this?? I went through many light resources in net, could not properly understand....

  • ruby - find and replace in a string for commonly used street suffix

    The post office actually publishes a list of commonly used street suffixes in addresses: http://www.usps.com/ncsc/lookups/abbr_suffix.txt I want to take this list and make a ruby function that takes a string, takes the last word ("183 main strt".split[' '].last) and if it matches any of the commonly used street suffixes ("strt"), replace it with the official Postal Service Standard Suffix ("st"). Is there a better way to approach this than a massive str.sub.sub.sub.sub.sub?
