  • Using AT on Ubuntu to Background Downloads (w/ Queue)

    - by Nicholas Yost
    I am writing a PHP script, but I want to use the AT command in Ubuntu to fetch a remote file via WGET. I'm basically looking to background the process, so PHP can finish fairly quickly. I cannot find any questions on here about how to use both, but I basically want to do the following pseudo-code: <?php exec('at now -q queuename wget http://path.to/remote/file.ext'); ?> Additionally, I'd like to queue this between providers. I'd like to have each path.to have its own queue, so I only download one file from each provider at a time. Meaning: <?php exec('at now -q remote wget http://path.to/remote/file.ext /local/path'); exec('at now -q vendorone wget http://vendor.one/remote/file.ext /local/path'); exec('at now -q vendortwo wget http://vendor.two/remote/file.ext /local/path'); exec('at now -q vendorone wget http://vendor.one/remote/file.ext /local/path'); ?> This should download the files from path.to, vendor.one, vendor.two immediately, and when the first file is finished downloading from vendor.one, it starts the second file. Does that make sense? I can't find anything like this anywhere on the web, much less on SO/SF. If we can use the crontab to run a one-off wget command, thats fine too.

  • What Filesystem should be used for a 4TB drive for both Windows and OSX compatibility? [closed]

    - by Nicholas Yost
    Note: I am aware of similar questions. The one's I seen here are for Windows, OSX, and Linux (which I do not need). I also can use Mountain Lion, which the other questions did not mention. I was going to use NTFS, but OSX Mountain Lion can only read that filesystem and not write to it for some reason. I want to use something native between OSX and Windows, as I don't want to risk losing the data over filesystem incompatibilities. I have USB 3.0 and want something that will allow files greater than 4GB. I do not mind installing a small set of drivers on the Windows machine(s), but I would strongly prefer to leave the Mac machine untouched. Thanks!

  • How do display a UserControl with satisfying all imports

    - by Yost
    Dear SO, I'm having some issues with Silverlight 4/ MEF. I have a basic framework setup with a Silverlight Navigation app at the core. Image link to the diagram for clarification The main app (Desu) contains some pages and controls that export en import nicely. I dynamicly load controls from Desu.Controls(like an imageviewer which i identify with the IImageViewer interface) and some pages from Desu.Pages. The first problem I had was with dynamicly loading pages and being able to navigate to these pages (eg. use dummyhttp://blagh/desutestpage.aspx#/Activation when Desu.Pages was loaded from the xap). I solved this by using a custom MetaAttribute and a custom contentloader. Now for the question part: I want to load the ImageViewerControl from Desu.Controls in HomePage in Desu. I haven't loaded the Desu.Controls into the package though. When i try to load the control it gives me CompositionException because it can't satisfy the ImageViewControl import. I tried setting AllowRecomposition=true but that didn't help. So is it possible to load a control without satisfying all imports and, if yes, how does one do this?

  • Sort ArrayList alphabetically

    - by relyt
    I'm trying to find all permutations of a string and sort them alphabetically. This is what I have so far: public class permutations { public static void main(String args[]) { Scanner s = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Enter String: "); String chars = s.next(); findPerms("", chars); } public static void findPerms(String mystr, String chars) { List<String> permsList = new ArrayList<String>(); if (chars.length() <= 1) permsList.add(mystr + chars); //System.out.print(mystr + chars + " "); else for (int i = 0; i < chars.length(); i++) { String newString = chars.substring(0, i) + chars.substring(i + 1); findPerms(mystr + chars.charAt(i), newString); } Collections.sort(permsList); for(int i=0; i<permsList.size(); i++) { System.out.print(permsList.get(i) + " "); } } } IF I enter a string "toys" I get: toys tosy tyos tyso tsoy tsyo otys otsy oyts oyst osty osyt ytos ytso yots yost ysto ysot stoy styo soty soyt syto syot What am I doing wrong. How can I get them in alphabetical order? Thanks!
