  • What does 'd' do in oh-my-zsh?

    - by ovatsug25
I just downloaded oh-my-zsh and found out that 'd' has been taken over by some command I do not know. Does anybody know what the output from this is? 0 ~/Desktop/Dropbox/project_Sites/rails_app/app/views/static_pages 1 ~/Desktop/Dropbox/project_Sites/rails_app/app/views 2 ~/Desktop/Dropbox/project_Sites/rails_app 3

  • zsh auto-complete event designator

    - by simont
(See my previous question for additional context). I'm migrating to zsh from bash, and using oh-my-zsh. When my zsh history looks something like the following: git status git add -A git commit I want to be able to re-run git add -A. To do that, I could use !?git add, which should: !?str[?] Refer to the most recent

  • Git autocomplete stopped working in Oh My ZSH

    - by Eric
Help! My git autocomplete stopped working in Oh My ZSH. It was working, but now it is now. I'm not sure what changed, so I'm hoping someone can help me track down the problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck, Which plugins would you like to load? (plugins can be found in ~/.oh-my-zsh/plugins/*) #

  • Zsh super slow inside my Git repo

    - by Jason Swett
My Zsh is super slow inside a certain Git repo of mine. When I Google "zsh git slow", I get a bunch of results about Git autocompletion being slow, but autocompletion isn't necessarily my problem; it's everything. I tried removing all plugins and that, strangely, didn't do anything at all when I opened a new shell. Zsh

  • zsh partially completion in aptitude/wajig

    - by mk_cafe
I'm using wajig to install packages, however when i've changed my shell to zsh it turned out that zsh doesn't list all packages in completion list, for ex. apt-get install octave[TAB] (about 70 completions) but when i try wajig install octave[TAB] or aptitude install octave[TAB] zsh shows only 19 completions

  • Prevent zsh from trying to expand everything

    - by Attila O.
Recently switched from bash, I noticed that zsh will try to expand every command or argument that looks like it has wildcards in it. So the following lines won't work any more: git diff master{,^^} zsh: no matches found: master^^ scp remote:~/*.txt . zsh: no matches found: remote:~/*.txt The only way to make

  • ^C not working in zsh on Mac OSX

    - by Vitaly Kushner
Ctrl-C stopped working for me at the terminal when using zsh (on mac osx). I didn't notice the exact moment that it happend so I can't be sure what caused it. I didd't update zsh in a while though. and didn't touch .zshrc (I have it at a repo http://github.com/astrails/dotzsh) If I run bash, ^C works in it.

  • Unique Features of bash compared to zsh

    - by Tim
I have been a zsh user for quite some time (before that tcsh and before that csh). I am quite happy with it, but was wondering if there are any compelling features of bash that do not exist in zsh. And conversely, are there zsh features which do not exist in bash. My current feel is that bash is better: If

  • Default prolog for all ZSH scripts?

    - by Igor Spasic
I have a file that contains several helper functions, meant to be used only in other ZSH scripts. I do not want them to be loaded with my profile. To make these functions available in my script, I would need to source this file. Is it somehow possible to have automatic prolog script (or pre-script) loaded

  • Disable zsh autocorrect entirely

    - by Collin Peters
How do you disable zsh autocorrect entirely? I am aware of the 'nocorrect' option which only applies to certain commands. But I want it off entirely so that when I type 'lear' instead of 'clear', it won't prompt for a correction. I should note that 'unsetopt correctall' doesn't seem to do anything for

  • Escape not idempotent in zsh's vi emulation?

    - by user1063042
I have zsh configured to use vi keybindings. I've noticed some unexpected behavior with "escape". In vim (I haven't tested vanilla vi) if I hit escape twice, I can hit 'i' once to return to insert mode. In zsh if I happen to hit escape twice, hitting 'i' won't return me to insert mode, I have to hit it

  • man: command not found in zsh (Mac OS 10.58)

    - by Oscar
I changed to zsh from the default (by changing the "Shells open with" preference in Terminal to "command (complete path)" set to /bin/zsh While most things seem to work, I tried to see the man page for a command and got a "permission denied" message. When I tried sudo, I got "man: command not found". I

  • Can't get ZSH working on CentOS

I've been using zsh for a couple of years now on Ubuntu and really like it a lot. I've installed it on our production server as well, which is running CentOS 5.2 However, I just installed it via yum on a new VM I created to use as a development box, to replicate our production box as closely as

  • Change the output format of zsh's time

    - by YGA
Hi Folks, I've just switched to zsh. However, I really don't like how the time builtin command also outputs the command that it's timing. I much prefer the bash style output. Anyone know how to switch it over? Zsh: [casqa1:~/temp]$ time grep foo /dev/null /usr/local/gnu/bin/grep --color -i

  • problem with zsh interactive shell

    - by Jack
When I use zsh in interactive mode, I get some glitches. This mainly happens when the command spills over onto a new line and I use backspace, with backspace leaving behind some glitches on the screen and moving the cursor to an odd position. It happens in a VT, in xterm and urxvt, although it

  • Command history in zsh

    - by Art
Currently I have zsh set up in such a way that command history is shared between all sessions immediately. Say I have a terminal emulator open with two tabs, each with a zsh session, A1 and A2. If I enter ls -la in A1, and then go to A2 and press up arrow key, I will see ls -la in the command

If I tab autocomplete, most of the time I get errors. Let's say I do a vim tab to look for the files in the folder. It just jumps to the next command line. Or let's say I press tab after typing rvm use 2.0.0 --default I will get zsh: correct 'rvm' to 'rvim' [nyae]?. If I say no, I get

  • ZSH - output whole history?

    - by GorillaSandwich
I recently switched from bash to zsh. In bash one way (besides recursive search) that I used to find previously-run commands was history | grep whatever, where whatever is the bit of command I remember. In zsh, this isn't working. history returns only a few items, even
