I came into the office a week ago and outlook has refused to connect ever since, it just says "Disconnected" in the bottom right-hand corner. I've tried restarting it, rebooting Windows etc.

I can successfully save the Outlook PST file to the default location on the C drive (C:\Documents and Settings\user\ ... \Outlook) but when I change the backup save to directory to Outlook on the D drive I get the error: Cannot copy Outlook: Access is denied. When I try to start Outlook 2007, my system freezes, and Outlook says it is "synchonizing folders".
I don't use exchange, and haven't seen any answers online.
I've tried turning off the exchange integration (right clicking my folders)
Since doing the latter, there is no longer an icon in the system…

what could be the reason for Outlook 2007 continously losing and reestablishing the connection to exchange?
I tried disabling all anti-viruses and firewalls but it did not help.
I should mention that even though this seems to happen to all users, some users cannot even send emails because it happens…
