Win 7: Are motherboard / chipset drivers part of the Software Update?

Is the Windows 7 update automatically updating Chipset and motherboard drivers? I am basically talking about mainstream boards / processors (ASUS; Intel, AMD, ...), so the question reads "in general". Certainly there are exotic system not updated automatically.

This is a duplicate of dangling Will Windows 7 Update Find Chipset Drivers? (one answer, no acceptance, comment directly questions the answer). I am interested in this topic as well, so I dare to ask the question again.
