  • Permissions problem running Apache ActiveMQ

    - by Edd
I'm wanting to use Apache ActiveMQ on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but am running into what looks like a permissions problem when I try to run it as follows: edd:~$ sudo activemq --version INFO: Loading '/usr/share/activemq/activemq-options' INFO: Using java '/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk//bin/java' INFO: changing to user 'activemq' to invoke java Java Runtime: Sun Microsystems Inc. 1.6.0_24 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre Heap sizes: current=502464k free=499842k max=502464k JVM args: -Xms512M -Xmx512M -Dorg.apache.activemq.UseDedicatedTaskRunner=true -Dactivemq.classpath=/var/lib/activemq//conf;; -Dactivemq.home=/usr/share/activemq -Dactivemq.base=/var/lib/activemq/ ACTIVEMQ_HOME: /usr/share/activemq ACTIVEMQ_BASE: /var/lib/activemq ActiveMQ 5.5.0 For help or more information please see: http://activemq.apache.org edd:~$ sudo activemq start INFO: Loading '/usr/share/activemq/activemq-options' INFO: Using java '/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk//bin/java' INFO: Starting - inspect logfiles specified in logging.properties and log4j.properties to get details INFO: changing to user 'activemq' to invoke java -su: line 2: /var/run/activemq.pid: Permission denied INFO: pidfile created : '/var/run/activemq.pid' (pid '7811') edd:~$ sudo activemq status INFO: Loading '/usr/share/activemq/activemq-options' INFO: Using java '/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk//bin/java' ActiveMQ not running edd:~$ ps ax | grep 'activemq' 8040 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto activemq I installed ActiveMQ using sudo apt-get install activemq. Apologies if there's any additional information missing - I'm fairly new to Linux as you may well have guessed!

  • ActiveMQ Pure Master / Slave - Out of sync

    - by pico
What i have : 1 master broker and 1 slave broker both in ActiveMQ 5.4.0 What i use : waitForSlave on master side and failover uri on slave side (in the master connector URI) What i want to do : I want to wait some delay (like 5 seconds) in case of a tiny network failures between master and slave before starting slave transpôrt connectors So i put this in slave config : <broker xmlns="http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core" brokerName="slave" dataDirectory="${activemq.base}/data" useJmx="true" persistent="true" populateJMSXUserID="true" masterConnectorURI="failover://(tcp://master:61616)?initialReconnectDelay=1000&amp;maxReconnectDelay=30000" shutdownOnMasterFailure="false" advisorySupport="false"> It seems to work but after a network hang between master and slave, the slave reconnect successfully and then the master logs a lot of : 2010-10-18 17:08:44,421 | ERROR | Slave Failed | org.apache.activemq.broker.ft.MasterBroker | ActiveMQ Task java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot lookup a connection that had not been registered: ID:master-1040-634226732611718750-0:0 at org.apache.activemq.broker.MapTransportConnectionStateRegister.lookupConnectionState(MapTransportConnectionStateRegister.java:93) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.lookupConnectionState(TransportConnection.java:1412) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.processRemoveConsumer(TransportConnection.java:561) at org.apache.activemq.command.RemoveInfo.visit(RemoveInfo.java:76) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.service(TransportConnection.java:309) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection$1.onCommand(TransportConnection.java:185) at org.apache.activemq.transport.ResponseCorrelator.onCommand(ResponseCorrelator.java:116) at org.apache.activemq.transport.TransportFilter.onCommand(TransportFilter.java:69) at org.apache.activemq.transport.vm.VMTransport.iterate(VMTransport.java:218) at org.apache.activemq.thread.DedicatedTaskRunner.runTask(DedicatedTaskRunner.java:98) at org.apache.activemq.thread.DedicatedTaskRunner$1.run(DedicatedTaskRunner.java:36) On the slave side everything is fine. So after that, i've tried to stop the master to see if the slave is capable of turning master after these "network hangs". The master took long time to shutdown (10 seconds) and then some error message appears in slave logs : 2010-10-18 17:09:32,915 | WARN | Async error occurred: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot lookup a connection that had not been registered: ID:master-1049-634226732657812500-0:3 | org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.Service | VMTransport: vm://slave#5 java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot lookup a connection that had not been registered: ID:master-1049-634226732657812500-0:3 at org.apache.activemq.broker.MapTransportConnectionStateRegister.lookupConnectionState(MapTransportConnectionStateRegister.java:93) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.lookupConnectionState(TransportConnection.java:1412) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.processRemoveSession(TransportConnection.java:600) at org.apache.activemq.command.RemoveInfo.visit(RemoveInfo.java:74) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection.service(TransportConnection.java:309) at org.apache.activemq.broker.TransportConnection$1.onCommand(TransportConnection.java:185) at org.apache.activemq.transport.ResponseCorrelator.onCommand(ResponseCorrelator.java:116) at org.apache.activemq.transport.TransportFilter.onCommand(TransportFilter.java:69) at org.apache.activemq.transport.vm.VMTransport.iterate(VMTransport.java:218) at org.apache.activemq.thread.DedicatedTaskRunner.runTask(DedicatedTaskRunner.java:98) at org.apache.activemq.thread.DedicatedTaskRunner$1.run(DedicatedTaskRunner.java:36) Are they any ways to keep my kaha stores (they are individual stores) synchronised? The main problem is that the slave never turn master after a master failure, it stay block on this message : 2010-10-18 17:09:33,681 | WARN | Transport (master/172.21.60.61:61616) failed to tcp://master:61616 , attempting to automatically reconnect due to: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error | org.apache.activemq.transport.failover.FailoverTransport | ActiveMQ Transport: tcp://master/172.21.60.61:61616 I'm totally stuck with these syncs problems, any help welcome! • activemq-maven-plugin ignore files in classpath?

    - by Oscar Chan
I have been trying to get activemq-maven-plugin to run activemq with configuration in classpath of the bundle. However, I don't have much luck. It seems that the activemq-maven-plugin just ignore resources (resources/main/conf/activemq.properties) the local bundle. I checked the jar and target/classes and they are built into the right local. I am able to get plugin to run (mvn activemq:run) if I take out the PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer bean in the activemq.xml Did I do anything wrong? Here is the output [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Failed to start ActiveMQ Broker Embedded error: Could not load properties; nested exception is java.io.FileNotFoundException: class path resource [conf/activemq.properties] cannot be opened because it does not exist [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] For more information, run Maven with the -e switch [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Total time: 2 seconds [INFO] Finished at: Mon May 03 15:56:05 PDT 2010 [INFO] Final Memory: 11M/79M [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is the pom.xml, which I specific the plugin to look up activemq.xml via file, that works. I try to write a simple Ajax client to send and receive messages. It's successfully deployed but I have never received msg from the client. I am beating myself to think out what I am missing, but still can't make it work. I can run the demo portfolioPublisher demo successfully at http://localhost:8161/demo/portfolio/portfolio.html, and see the numbers updated all the time. But for my simple web-app, nothing really works. Any suggestion/hint is welcomed. Thanks so much Lily

  • ActiveMQ broker configuration error when specifying persistenceAdapter: "One of '{WC[##other:"http:/

    - by Joe
I am setting up a simple ActiveMQ embedded broker. It works fine, until I try to configure a persistence adapter. I am basically just copying the configuration from http://activemq.apache.org/persistence.html#Persistence-ConfiguringKahaPersistence. When I add this configuration to my Spring configuration, like so: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:amq="http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core" xsi:schemaLocation=" http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.5.xsd http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core/activemq-core-5.3.0.xsd"> <amq:broker useJmx="true" persistent="true" brokerName="localhost"> <amq:transportConnectors> <amq:transportConnector name="vm" uri="vm://localhost"/> </amq:transportConnectors> <amq:persistenceAdapter> <amq:kahaPersistenceAdapter directory="activemq-data" maxDataFileLength="33554432"/> </amq:persistenceAdapter> </amq:broker> </beans> I get the error: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'amq:persistenceAdapter'. One of '{WC[##other:"http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core"]}' is expected. When I take out the amq:persistenceAdapter element, it works fine. The same error happens no matter which persistence adapter I include in the body, e.g. jdbc, journal, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It has produced quite some log files, which is to be expected with our infrastructure, looking like this: $ ll -h /opt/activemq/data/kahadb/ total 969M drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4.0K Nov 3 12:47 ./ drwxr-xr-x 3 activemq activemq 4.0K Sep 24 12:12 ../ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 39M Oct 16 07:57 db-202.log -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 38M Oct 16 07:57 db-203.log -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 33M Oct 17 08:12 db-238.log ... No more messages were processed, when we ran into the 1GB temp usage limit. Or that's what we are assuming, is that correct? The configuration looks like this: <systemUsage> <systemUsage> <memoryUsage> <memoryUsage limit="512mb"/> </memoryUsage> <storeUsage> <storeUsage limit="3 gb"/> </storeUsage> <tempUsage> <tempUsage limit="1 gb"/> </tempUsage> </systemUsage> </systemUsage> After cleaning up the log files and being way below the limits, still no messages were consumed by AMQ. Only when we manually purged a route, messages were starting to be delivered again. So we need to ensure, that the KahaDB log size always stays below the temp usage, right? And that delivery was not picked up after fixing that is a bug or are there any other steps to be taken?

  • proxy pass for activeMQ

    - by user1172482
I have a apache server that I'm trying to use for proxy access my activeMQ admin page. I am able to load the inital landing page properly, but I can't seem to load any of the sub-pages (Queues, Connections, etc.). My proxypass rules on the apache server are the following: ProxyPass /foo http://10.5.124.108:8161/admin ProxyPassReverse /foo http://10.5.124.108:8161/admin The activeMQ installation included a activemq-httpd.conf file in /etc/httpd/conf.d/. Proxy connections there are enabled: ProxyRequests On ProxyVia On <Proxy *> Allow from all Order allow, deny </Proxy> ProxyPass /admin http://localhost:8161/admin ProxyPassReverse /admin http://localhost:8161/admin ProxyPass /message http://localhost:8161/admin/send ProxyPassReverse /message http://localhost:8161/admin/send From what I've read the proxypass rules should be recursive (the rule for /foo should also work for /foo/bar). Is there something else that I'm missing here that's preventing me from accessing pages beyond the initial admin landing page?

  • How to get local ActiveMQ broker to "mirror" a queue on a remote ActiveMQ broker?

    - by T.K.
I have a local ActiveMQ broker which is on an unreliable internet connection, and also a remote ActiveMQ broker in a reliable datacenter. I have already sorted out a "store and forward" setup so that outgoing messages are sent to the remote broker when the Internet connection is available. That alone works great, but when messages are outbound. However, now I have to do the reverse. Here is the scenario: A new message appears in the remote ActiveMQ broker. The message is put into a specific queue. In a few minutes, the Internet connection becomes available to the local ActiveMQ broker. The local broker should then be able to pull the message from the remote broker, and place it in its own local queue. Local consumers will then be able to see the message. So in essence, I need the local broker to become a subscribed consumer to the remote queue. I have looked through the ActiveMQ documentations but I can't find anything yet about how to do this in the .xml configuration file. Is this what I should be looking for? See: "ActiveMQ: JMS to JMS Bridge". Any advice and tips would be highly appreciated.

  • how to associate the activemq-core.xsd url with the activemq.xsd found in the jar file?

    - by livia
Hello, Somebody knows how to associate the activemq-core.xsd url with the activemq.xsd found in the jar file (activemq-core-5.2.0.jar)? I dig some solution in internet but didn't work. I'm getting this error: Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionStoreException: Line 19 in XML document from class path resource [jms-context.xml] is invalid; nested exception is org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.c: The matching wildcard is strict, but no declaration can be found for element 'amq:broker'. at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader.doLoadBeanDefinitions(XmlBeanDefinitionReader.java:404) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(XmlBeanDefinitionReader.java:342) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(XmlBeanDefinitionReader.java:310) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.java:143) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.java:178) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.java:149) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.loadBeanDefinitions(AbstractBeanDefinitionReader.java:212) at org.springframework.test.context.support.AbstractGenericContextLoader.loadContext(AbstractGenericContextLoader.java:81) at org.springframework.test.context.support.AbstractGenericContextLoader.loadContext(AbstractGenericContextLoader.java:42) at org.springframework.test.context.TestContext.loadApplicationContext(TestContext.java:173) at org.springframework.test.context.TestContext.getApplicationContext(TestContext.java:197) This shoud me hapening because we remove the URL from the schemaLocation (http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core classpath:activemq.xsd), and we are using localy. But I don't know why XML are not finding the activemq.xsd during the build process. I add the JAR file in the classpath, should not work like that?? Thanks in advance for any help

  • ActiveMQ 5.2.0 + REST + HTTP POST = java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

    - by Bruce Loth
First off, I am a newbie when it comes to JMS & ActiveMQ. I have been looking into a messaging solution to serve as middleware for a message producer that will insert XML messages into a queue via HTTP POST. The producer is an existing system written in C++ that cannot be modified (so Java and the C++ API are out). Using the "demo" examples and some trial and error, I have cobbled together a working example of what I want to do (on a windows box). The web.xml I configured in a test directory under "webapps" specifies that the HTTP POST messages received from the producer are to be handled by the MessageServlet. I added a line for the text app in "activemq.xml" ('ow' is the test app dir): I created a test script to "insert" messages into the queue which works well. The problem I am running into is that it as I continue to insert messages via REST/HTTP POST, the memory consumption and thread count used by ActiveMQ continues to rise (It happens when I have timely consumers as well as slow or non-existent consumers). When memory consumption gets around 250MB's and the thread count exceeds 5000 (as shown in windows task manager), ActiveMQ crashes and I see this in the log: Exception in thread "ActiveMQ Transport Initiator: vm://localhost#3564" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread It is as if Jetty is spawning a new thread to handle each HTTP POST and the thread never dies. I did look at this page: http://activemq.apache.org/javalangoutofmemory.html and tried but that didn't fix the problem (although I didn't fully understand the implications of the change either). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Bruce Loth PS - I included the "test message producer" python script below for what it is worth. I created batches of 100 messages and continued to run the script manually from the command line while watching the memory consumption and thread count of ActiveMQ in task manager. def foo(): import httplib, urllib body = "<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>\n \ <ROOT>\n \ [snip: xml deleted to save space] </ROOT>" headers = {"content-type": "text/xml", "content-length": str(len(body))} conn = httplib.HTTPConnection("127.0.0.1:8161") conn.request("POST", "/ow/message/RDRCP_Inbox?type=queue", body, headers) response = conn.getresponse() print response.status, response.reason data = response.read() conn.close() ## end method definition ## Begin test code count = 0; while(count < 100): # Test with batches of 100 msgs count += 1 foo()

  • Prebuilt ActiveMQ Server Based off ZeroMQ

    - by VxJasonxV
Are there any distributions of fully built Message Brokers that are initially based off of ZeroMQ? I had thought that downloading/installing ZeroMQ would give me such, not just a handful of procedures for rolling me own. Currently we use ActiveMQ, but it is a miserable pain to configure, so I'd rather slim down the profile, unfortunately I learned that ZeroMQ was not a one step solution to achieving that goal. Alternatives are ok, but I'd prefer something less overly verbose in configuration than ActiveMQ's ludicrous amounts of Java configuration. Broker config + Java Logger Config + many other intricacies that I don't wish to deal with. (Read: Preferably not Java based in the first place.) I'm looking for reliable, basic functionality described by JMS brokers. Topics, Queues, Message Persistence, etc.

  • HOWTO: disable jmx in activemq network of brokers (spring, xbean)

    - by subes
Since I've struggled a lot with this problem, I am posting my solution. Disabling jmx in an activemq network of brokers removes race conditions about the registration of the jmx connector. When starting multiple activemq servers on the same machine: Failed to start jmx connector: Cannot bind to URL [rmi://localhost:1099/jmxrmi]: javax.naming.NameAlreadyBoundException: jmxrmi [Root exception is java.rmi.AlreadyBoundException: jmxrmi] Another problem with this is, that even if you don't cause a race condition, this exception can still occur. Even when starting one broker after another while waiting for them to initialize properly in between. If one process is run by root as the first instance and the other as a normal user, somehow the user process tries to register its own jmx connector, though there already is one. Or another exception which happens when the broker that successfully registered the jmx connector goes down: Failed to start jmx connector: Cannot bind to URL [rmi://localhost:1099/jmxrmi]: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException [Root exception is java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused] Those exceptions cause the network of brokers to stop working, or to not work at all. The trick to disable jmx was, that jmx had to be disabled in the connectionfactory aswell. The documentation http://activemq.apache.org/jmx.html does not say that this is needed explicitly. So I had to struggle for 2 days until I found the solution: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:amq="http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core/activemq-core-5.3.1.xsd"> <!-- Spring JMS Template --> <bean id="jmsTemplate" class="org.springframework.jms.core. Siehe http://activemq.apache.org/networks-of-brokers.html --> <amq:broker useJmx="false" persistent="false"> <!-- Wird benötigt um JMX endgültig zu deaktivieren --> <amq:managementContext> <amq:managementContext connectorHost="localhost" createConnector="false" /> </amq:managementContext> <!-- Nun die normale Konfiguration für Network of Brokers --> <amq:networkConnectors> <amq:networkConnector networkTTL="1" duplex="true" dynamicOnly="true" uri="multicast://default" /> </amq:networkConnectors> <amq:persistenceAdapter> <amq:memoryPersistenceAdapter /> </amq:persistenceAdapter> <amq:transportConnectors> <amq:transportConnector uri="tcp://localhost:0" discoveryUri="multicast://default" /> </amq:transportConnectors> </amq:broker> With this, there is no need to specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=false for the jvm. Which somehow also didn't work for me, because the connectionfactory started the jmx connector.

  • ActiveMQ, timestamp for broker receiving the message to send

    - by StaxMan
Ok, as per ActiveMQ docs, it appears that Message.getJMSTimestamp() returns time that client claims it sent the message (with its local clock). And that there is supposedly property "JMSActiveMQBrokerInTime" that is added to Message (see http://activemq.apache.org/activemq-message-properties.html). However, trying to access it on an ActiveMQ 4.1.2 installation gives an error. Does anyone know if this is something that was only added in 5.0 or later? Or is there some other explanation as to where it might have disappeared? Message.getPropertyNames() returns empty enumeration, which could indicate that nothing gets through.

  • ActiveMq NMS Disconnects after about 30 seconds

    - by Kelly
'm trying to do simple pub/sub with ActiveMq. I can get it all working fine, but the subscriber disconnects after about 30 seconds. I've looked for a timeout type of value I can change but nothing seems to be working. Here is the subscriber: using System; using Apache.NMS; using Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ; using Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Commands; namespace ActiveMQCatcher { internal class Program { private static void Main(string[] args) { IConnectionFactory factory = new ConnectionFactory("tcp://localhost:61616/"); using (IConnection connection = factory.CreateConnection()) { connection.ClientId = "MYID"; connection.Start(); using (ISession session = connection.CreateSession()) { IMessageConsumer consumer = session.CreateConsumer(new ActiveMQTopic("MYTOPIC"), null, false); consumer.Listener += consumer_Listener; Console.ReadLine(); } connection.Stop(); } } private static void consumer_Listener(IMessage message) { Console.WriteLine("Got: " + ((ITextMessage) message).Text); } } } I tried this: connection.RequestTimeout = TimeSpan.MaxValue; But it didn't seem to change anything. To get the problem just run the program and sit waiting for about 30 seconds. You can see the connection disappear in the ActiveMQ Console (http://localhost:8161/admin/connections.jsp by default) Any ideas?

  • Routing an ActiveMq topic to an external broker.

    - by chillitom
Hi All, I have an ActiveMq topic which I wish to transform and share with an external broker. At present I have the following which performs the transformation: <camelContext id="camel" xmlns="http://activemq.apache.org/camel/schema/spring"> <route> <from uri="activemq:topic:OriginalTopic"/> <to uri="xslt:file:///xslt/transformation.xsl"/> <to uri="activemq:topic:NewTopic"/> </route> </camelContext> However this just sends the message to the current broker network. I'd like to pass the NewTopic messages to an external broker only. I don't want to join the external broker using a <networkConnector .. > as only this topic should be send to the external broker and no others. Is there a simple way to route messages to an external broker? Many thanks.

  • How to use wildcards and variable substitution in activemq camel routes

    - by sicotron
I would like to set up a generic camel route that routes all messages to a set of queues to a queue with the same name and a suffix. I'm thinking it would look something like this: <camelContext id="camel" trace="false" xmlns="http://camel.apache.org/schema/spring"> <route id="genericRoute"> <from uri="activemq:queue:somequeues.*" /> <to uri="${getMyQueueName}.moo" /> </route> </camelContext> activemq talks about wildcards here: http://activemq.apache.org/wildcards.html but nothing more that I can find. This may not even be possible but would be very handy if it is! Thanks,

  • ActiveMQ - Removing queues programatically

    - by Eduardo Z.
Fellow StackOverflowers, is there a way for me to remove a queue or a topic in ActiveMQ programatically? I am using ActiveMQ's standard persistency, and my application requires that, on startup, all new queues be dynamically re-created (unless there are messages stored in the queue, in which case, the queue should remain to exist). I am also creating all queues programatically through sessions. Is there an equivalent to that procedure, only to delete a queue? Querying and iterating through the existing queues would also be useful, but i haven't found a way to do that yet. Please help an ActiveMQ noob! =)

  • Trouble using genericra to integrate activemq and glassfish when using failover protocol

    - by Kyle
Hi, I'm attempting to use activemq in glassfish using the genericra resource adapter provided with glassfish 2.1. I have found a few pages with helpful information including http://activemq.apache.org/sjsas-with-genericjmsra.html. I have actually had success and been able to get MDBs to use activemq as their JMS provider, but I'm running into an issue as I'm trying to do some more complicated configuration. I want to set up a master-slave configuration, which would require my clients to use a brokerURL of failover:(tcp://broker1:61616,tcp://broker2:61616). In order to do this, I set the following property when calling asadmin create-resource-adapter-config (I have to escape '=' and ':'): ConnectionFactoryProperties=brokerURL\=failover\:(tcp\://127.0.0.1\:61616,tcp://127.0.0.1\:61617) However, I am now getting a StringIndexOutOfBoundsException when my application starts up. I suspect the comma in between the two URLs is the culprit, since this works fine: brokerURL\=failover\:(tcp\://127.0.0.1\:61616) Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this issue before. Also wondering if there is a better way to integrate with glassfish than using the generic resource adapter.

  • request response with activemq - always send double response.

    - by Chris Valley
Hi, I'm new at activeMq. I tried to create a simple request response like this. public Listener(string destination) { // set factory ConnectionFactory factory = new ConnectionFactory(URL); IConnection connection; try { connection = factory.CreateConnection(); connection.Start(); ISession session = connection.CreateSession(); // create consumer for designated destination IMessageConsumer consumer = session.CreateConsumer(new Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Commands.ActiveMQQueue(destination)); consumer.Listener += new MessageListener(consumer_Listener); Console.ReadLine(); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.ToString()); throw new Exception("Exception in Listening ", ex); } } The OnMessage static void consumer_Listener(IMessage message) { IConnectionFactory factory = new ConnectionFactory("tcp://localhost:61616/"); using (IConnection connection = factory.CreateConnection()) { //Create the Session using (ISession session = connection.CreateSession()) { //Create the Producer for the topic/queue // IMessageProducer prod = session.CreateProducer(new Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Commands.ActiveMQTempQueue(message.NMSDestination)); IMessageProducer producer = session.CreateProducer(message.NMSDestination); // Create Response // IMessage response = session.CreateMessage(); ITextMessage response = producer.CreateTextMessage("Replied from VS2010 Test"); //response.NMSReplyTo = new Apache.NMS.ActiveMQ.Commands.ActiveMQQueue("testQ1"); response.NMSCorrelationID = message.NMSCorrelationID; if (message.NMSReplyTo != null) { producer.Send(message.NMSReplyTo, response); Console.WriteLine("Receive: " + ((ITextMessage)message).NMSCorrelationID); Console.WriteLine("Received from : " + message.NMSDestination.ToString()); Console.WriteLine("----------------------------------------------------"); } } } } Every time i tried to send a request to the listener, the response always send repeatedly. The first response will have NMSReplyTo properties while the other not. My workaround to stop this situation by cheking the NMSReplyTo properties if (message.NMSReplyTo != null) { producer.Send(message.NMSReplyTo, response); Console.WriteLine("Receive: " + ((ITextMessage)message).NMSCorrelationID); Console.WriteLine("Received from : " + message.NMSDestination.ToString()); Console.WriteLine("----------------------------------------------------"); } In my understanding, this happened because there was a circular send response in the listener to the same Queue. Could you guys help me how to fix this? Many Thanks, Chris

  • Starting ActiveMQ message listener in Tomcat?

    - by Nick Swarr
    I've created an ActiveMQ MessageListener and configured it using Spring. I'm hosting the listener in Tomcat. When I start up the web application (that features only the listener), should the listener automatically start? Or do I need additional configuration? Here's what I have. First, updated the web.xml to allow spring to configure itself on startup, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd"> <listener> <listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class> </listener> <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/classes/spring/applicationContext.xml</param-value> </context-param> </web-app> Then I created the applicationContext.xml to configure the ActiveMQ listener, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context" xmlns:amq="http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-3.0.xsd"> <context:annotation-config /> <context:component-scan base-package="com.somepackage"/> <context:property-placeholder location="classpath:env.properties"/> <bean id="jmsFactory" class="org.apache.activemq.ActiveMQConnectionFactory"> <property name="brokerURL" value="tcp://localhost:61616" /> </bean> <bean id="documentListener" class="com.somepackage.SomeListener" /> <bean id="container" class="org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer"> <property name="connectionFactory" ref="cachingConnectionFactory"/> <property name="messageListener" ref="documentListener"/> <property name="destinationName" value="STOCKS.MSFT" /> </bean> <bean id="cachingConnectionFactory" class="org.springframework.jms.connection.CachingConnectionFactory"> <property name="targetConnectionFactory" ref="jmsFactory" /> <property name="sessionCacheSize" value="1" /> </bean> </beans> And that's it. Based on what I've seen around the web, I can't tell if that's all I need? Maybe I need some other configuration in Tomcat to kick off the listener?

  • Triggering PHP from ActiveMQ

    - by scompt.com
Background: Our current system involves two services (one written in Java, the other in PHP) that communicate with each other using HTTP callbacks. We would like to migrate from HTTP callbacks to a message-based architecture using ActiveMQ (or another, if necessary). We'll probably use STOMP to communicate between them. Eventually, the PHP service will be rewritten in Java, but that's not part of this project. Question: How can the ActiveMQ system notify PHP that a new message has been posted to the queue that the PHP system is subscribed to? In the current system, the callback inherently calls into the PHP and triggers it. This goes away with a message-based architecture. Possible solutions: Cron regularly calls a PHP script that checks for new messages. yuck. A long-running PHP process that loops and sleeps and checks for new messages. less yuck? ActiveMQ calls a PHP script when a new message is posted. good, how? ??
