  • "Symbol not found" error for UIPopoverController in an iPhone/iPad Universal App

    In a universal binary iPhone/iPad app of mine, users are able to adjust preferences in a view controller that's presented modally. On the iPhone, the settings panel is presented with presentModalViewController:animated:, and on the iPad, I use a UIPopoverController. I'm having a heck of a time completely isolating the UIPopoverController code away from the iPhone code. Everytime I compile for the iPhone, I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIPopoverController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/CBB37F87-AA6D-47E2-823A-E259E3268A32/MyApp debug.app/MyApp Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit This is of course because UIKit on the iPhone doesn't have a UIPopoverController class. Does anybody have advice for how to effectively isolate the iPad API includes from the iPhone code, so I can actually run my code?

  • AudioFileWriteBytes fails with error code -40

    I'm trying to write raw audio bytes to a file using AudioFileWriteBytes(). Here's what I'm doing: void writeSingleChannelRingBufferDataToFileAsSInt16(AudioFileID audioFileID, AudioConverterRef audioConverter, ringBuffer *rb, SInt16 *holdingBuffer) { // First, figure out which bits of audio we'll be // writing to file from the ring buffer UInt32 lastFreshSample = rb->lastWrittenIndex; OSStatus status; int numSamplesToWrite; UInt32 numBytesToWrite; if (lastFreshSample < rb->lastReadIndex) { numSamplesToWrite = kNumPointsInWave + lastFreshSample - rb->lastReadIndex - 1; } else { numSamplesToWrite = lastFreshSample - rb->lastReadIndex; } numBytesToWrite = numSamplesToWrite*sizeof(SInt16); Then we copy the audio data (stored as floats) to a holding buffer (SInt16) that will be written directly to the file. The copying looks funky because it's from a ring buffer. UInt32 buffLen = rb->sizeOfBuffer - 1; for (int i=0; i < numSamplesToWrite; ++i) { holdingBuffer[i] = rb->data[(i + rb->lastReadIndex) & buffLen]; } Okay, now we actually try to write the audio from the SInt16 buffer "holdingBuffer" to the audio file. The NSLog will spit out an error -40, but also claims that it's writing bytes.   • Parsing two-dimensional text

    I need to parse text files where relevant information is often spread across multiple lines in a nonlinear way. An example: 1234 1 IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF SOME STATE 2 IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF SOME COUNTY 3 UNLIMITED JURISDICTION 4 --o0o-- 5 6 JOHN SMITH and JILL SMITH, ) ) 7 Plaintiffs, ) ) 8 vs. ) No. 12345 ) 9 ACME CO, et al., ) ) 10 Defendants. ) ___________________________________) I need to pull out Plaintiff and Defendant identities. These transcripts have a very wide variety of formattings, so I can't always count on those nice parentheses being there, or the plaintiff and defendant information being neatly boxed off, e.g.: 1 SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF SOME OTHER STATE COUNTY OF COUNTYVILLE 2 First Judicial District Important Litigation 3 --------------------------------------------------X THIS DOCUMENT APPLIES TO: 4 JOHN SMITH, 5 Plaintiff, Index No. 2000-123 6 DEPOSITION 7 - against - UNDER ORAL EXAMINATION 8 OF JOHN SMITH, 9 Volume I 10 ACME CO, et al, 11 Defendants. 12 --------------------------------------------------X The two constants are: "Plaintiff" will occur after the name of the plaintiff(s), but not necessarily on the same line. Plaintiffs and defendants' names will be in upper case. Any ideas?

  • Novocaine - How to loop file playback? (iOS)

    I'm using Novocaine by alexbw Novocaine for my audio project. I'm playing around with the example code here for file reading. The file plays back with no problem. I would like to loop this recording with the gap between the loops - any suggestion as to how I can do so? Thanks.
