• CSS Fluid Grid Layout Problem

  I have a max-width em based container for my layout. Within it I have many floated fixed width boxes, at 230px to be exact. At the max-width the container will expand to 90em's. This fit's 6 boxes per line perfectly. As the window sizes down and boxes are bumped to lower rows it leaves an ugly gap with the navigation above. I would like to force the container of the boxes to center them at all times. • running jar in a terminal using axis2

  I'm trying to run in the command line a java application distributed in a jar file. It call an axis2 web service, so the jar contains a /axis2client directory with rampart.mar security module. It works fine while I run it in netbeans, but it throws an exception if I try to run it in a terminal using this command: java -jar myfile.jar The Exception: org.apache.axis2.AxisFault: invalid url: //file:/home/xxx/Desktop/myfile.jar!/axis2client/ (java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: //file:/home/xxx/Desktop/myfile.jar) As you can see, it's trying to use the /axis2client directory inside the jar, as when I run it in Netbeans, but It fails with a MalformedURLException. I think it's something about the protocol 'file:', probably '//file:/' must be 'file:///'. The problem is that I cannot change this call to the directory because the method that loads the /axis2client directory it's not mine, it's from another library that use my project and include all the axis2 support. So, any idea?? Thanks in advance lads!

  The thing is that I have 3 partitions on my computer. /dev/sda1 Type: ntfs (size 104MB; 35MB in use) [This is Windows Loader] /dev/sda2 Type: ntfs (size 144598MB; 64536MB in use) [Here I want to install UBUNTU] /dev/sda3 Type: ntfs (size 105353MB; 20227MB in use) [This my backup partition I don't wan't to delete anything from here, I have all my necessary information] So the problem is when I select "Device for boot loader installation" "/dev/sda2" Pops out: "No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu." How can I resolve this? :)

• Forwarding MySQL connection with iptables and differents network interfaces

  I have a PC with Ubuntu as a router. It has a 3G connection with a public IP to the Internet, and there is a private wireless subnet. So it has two active interfaces: ppp0: public IP (WAN) wlan0: private IP (LAN) With iptables I wannt to forward every MySQL connection (port 3306) to a local machine (10.42.43.10) of the subnet. I type these iptables commands: iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 3306 -j DNAT --to 10.42.43.10:3306 iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -i ppp0 -o wlan0 -d 10.42.43.10 --dport 3306 -j ACCEPT But it doesn't work. telnet publicip 3306 fails :-( Any help will be appreciated.   Note that the error message I put in the title of this question is abbreviated. The actual error message is below. I have an Exchange account and using Outlook 2010 as the client. I run in Cached Exchange Mode and have an .OST file locally. Recently I uninstalled and reinstalled office. I set up a new mail profile when prompted by Outlook 2010 upon first execution of the program. In my initial attempt, I pointed the data file at my existing OST file. In my second attempt, I had Outlook create a fresh empty file. In both cases I'm getting the error 'Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost).', also shown in this screenshot -- http://drop.io/4rc9v9o/asset/outlook-error-png. I don't know how to connect with the current profile - that's what I thought I did when I created a new .OST file? I've had this problem for several days so my OST file is now out of date. Once I get things running I obviously want my active mailbox to update the OST, not the other way around.

• Excel - Linking multiple source spreadsheets with variable amounts of rows to a destination spreadsh

  I have multiple source spreadsheets, each with a variable number of rows. An example might be one spreadsheet per bank account, with one row for each transaction, with a date and amount. One spreadsheet might have 30 rows, the other 50, and so on. I want to create another spreadsheet which links to the various source spreadsheets and lists an aggregate of all transactions from all sources. So if 3 source sheets with 30, 50 and 20 rows respectively, the destination sheet would have 100 rows. The number of rows (transactions) in the source sheets can grow or shrink over time. I'd like the destination sheet to show one contiguous list of transactions without gaps (spaces). How can I do this?

  I wrote .htaccess in file dir/subdir to don't log URI requests in this particular directory. The .htaccess is actually executed by apache (if i write deny from , it works), but if the file contains only this rule: SetEnvIf Request_URI "^dir/subdir" dontlog Don't work. AllowOverride All and mod_rewrite are enabled. What can be the problem? Sorry for my bad english.

• How to set up a file server in a restricted corporate environment

  I work in a big corporation, and the disk space my team gets in the corporate file server is so low, I am considering turning my work PC into a file server. I ask this community for links to tutorials, software suggestions, and advice in general about how to set it up. My machine is an Intel Core2Duo E7500 @ 3GHz, 3 GB of RAM, Running Windows XP Service Pack 3. Upgrading, formatting or installing another OS is out of the question. But I do have Administrator priviledges on the PC, and I can install programs (at least for now). A lot of security software I don't even know about is and must remain installed. But I only need communication whithin the corporate network, which is not restricted. People have usernames (logins) on the corporate network, and I need to use them to restrict access. Simply put, I have a list of logins of team members, and only people in the list should access the files. I have about 150 GB of free disk space. I'm thinking of allocating 100 GB to the team's shared files. I plan monthly backups on machines of co-workers, same configuration. But automation of backups is a nice, unnecessary feature: it's totally acceptable for me to manually copy the contents to a different machine once a month. Uptime is important, as everyone would use these files in their daily work. I have experience as a python and C programmer, but no experience whatsoever as a sysadmin, and almost nothing of my programming experience is network programming. I'm a complete beginner in this. Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT I honestly appreciate all the warnings, I really do, but what I plan to make available is mostly stuff that now is solely on DVDs just for space reasons. It's 'daily work' to read them, but 'daily work write' files will remain on the corporate server. As for the importance of uptime, I think I overstated it: a few outages are OK, it's already an improvement over getting the DVDs. As for policy, my manager is kind of on my side, I will confirm that before making my move. As for getting more space through the proper channels, well, that was Plan A, and it's still on the table... But I don't have much hope. I'm not as "core businees" as I'd like.

• Putting a versioned-but-not-via-source control project in source control

  I have some old code (an old but still maintained VB6 application) that from a source control point of view is the ultimate example of the plumber's plumbing (or cobbler's shoes). It's been version controlled by the approach of making a new directory for each version. Are there any major downsides to taking the following approach? Do the initial check-in of all files Erase all files from the working directory, then copy all files from the next version to the working directory Check them in Goto #2 until done Note that I have a general change log text file which I'd grab the comments from for each version I check in/commit. I don't have (or really care about at this point) comments on a per-file- basis. I don't really know at this point what files have changed between versions, and being lazy I figured I could avoid doing file compares between versions to find out, so that's why I'm taking the approach above. Not to mention that erasing all the files first allows file deletions to be detected. I specifically haven't mentioned which version control tool I'm using since I'm hoping (also assuming, but maybe very incorrectly) that the answer is fairly independent. When I use terms like "check-in" I use them in the general sense, not specific to a tool.

The manger-get() call seems work (it generates http traffic) but does not call the slot replyFinished() at the request end. • What are appropriate ways to represent relationships between people in a database table?

  I've got a table of people - an ID primary key and a name. In my application, people can have 0 or more real-world relationships with other people, so Jack might "work for" Jane and Tom might "replace" Tony and Bob might "be an employee of" Rob and Bob might also "be married to" Mary. What's the best way to represent this in the database? A many to many intersect table? A series of self joins? A relationship table with one row per relationship pair and type, where I insert records for the relationship in both directions?

  I'm writing a multiuser application (.NET - C#) in which each user's data is separated from the others and there is no data that's common between users. It's critical to ensure that no user has access to another user's data. What are some approaches for implementing security at the database level and/or in the application architecture to to accomplish this? For example (and this is totally made up - I'm not suggesting it's a good or bad approach) including a userID column in all data tables might be an approach. • Is Webhooks a style/pattern or a specification?

  I've been reading about Webhooks and I'm trying to determine if it's a specification vs a style/pattern. By "specification" I mean that the implementation details, e.g. headers, payload and so on are well defined. By "style" or "pattern" I mean in the sense that REST is a style (as opposed to a spec) or a pattern which describes usage but doesn't define implementation details. From what I see, Webhooks is a style/pattern. That the event(s) which triggers the http callbacks are generated however the developer wants, and that the http callbacks have no specific implementation requirements except to be an http post. Is this correct?

  How can I detect page zoom level in all modern browsers? While this thread tells how to do it in IE7 and IE8, I can't find good solution for FF, Safari and Chrome. For FF one of the suggested solution FF stores page zoom level for future. So on first page load would I be able to get zoom level? Somewhere I read it works if you're changing zoom level on that page after its loaded. Is there a way to trap 'zoom' event? I need this because some of my calculations are based on no of pixels and they get changed on Zoom. Thanks. Modified sample given by tfl.
