• What happens to a PDF file when you save it as a static PDF file?

  Does anyone know what happens to a PDF file when you save it as a static PDF file? I have a 17K PDF file that doesn’t work will with my software. But when I save it as a Static PDF using Adobe Live Cycle, the file works just fine. But it’s significantly larger (327K). Because these file will be download over the web, I really want to keep the size down. I have hundreds of files like this. If I knew what happens to the file when it’s converted I might be in better shape. Thanks

  Is there a difference between the actual chips intended for Dual Channel vs Triple Channel. I bought a set of triple channel memory but I'm only using 2 of the 3 chips. I'm getting the error "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 197.45 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" There seems to be a TON of discussion on the web about this and some say it might be RAM related.   Is there a way to increase how much is cached for thumbnail views of pictures? If I'm looking through a folder of .png files for example, with "medium" set as the view size. The screen will eventually fill all the thumbnails with the appropriate pictures. But as I scroll down it takes a while for the pictures to fill in again. I would like a way for "off screen" pictures to fill in before I get the that section of the screen. Is there a way to do this? Thanks

• Why does Windows 7 change the properties of my shortcuts?

  I've got a shortcut on my desktop for an executable on a mapped drive. Lets say the Z: drive. If I change the mapping of the drive from say Z: to S: and then double click on that shortcut, my executable will open because Windows changed the properties of that shortcut to run from the S: drive. While this may be handy in some circumstances, its NOT for me. How can I prevent Windows from modifying my shortcut to what it thinks I want. Thanks

  Whats the difference between Process and ProcessStartInfo? Ive used both to launch external programs but there has to be a reason there are two ways to do it. Here are two examples.   I'm looking for a very simple way of determining if the version of Windows the customer is using is 32bit or 64bit. I know there are ways using .NEt but I'm looking to avoid them. I simply want to use something similar the below pseudo code and want to know if this method can be reliable. If Registry Key exists (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node) Then Assume 64bit else Assume 32bit Thanks! EDIT: To be more specific, I know there a several different ways to accomplish the goal of finding out if the OS is 32 or 64bit. But I want to know if the above alone method would be reliable.

  Can I enable the "Comment out the selected lines" feature for working on text files in Visual Studio 2008 or 2010? I'd like the ability to use that function on files other than normal code related files. When I open a TXT file the comment and un-comment buttons are disabled. Is there a way to change that? Thanks

• Keeping track of changes I make by copying project folders.

  Hello, I'm a beginner so if there is a terminology for what I'm doing I don't know how to search for it. So forgive me if this has been asked before. So here is what I do. Before I make any major code changes, I make a copy of the projects folder and call it "project v6" for example. Then if I really mess things up and cant find a way to undo it, i just go back to the previous folder. This has been working well enough for me but sometimes I forget to do this have have to take 2 steps back. Is there an easier way to do this than the way I am now? Thanks

  How can I use IndexOf with SubString to pick a specific Character when there are more than one of them? Here's my issue. I want to take the path "C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\" and remove the "Temp\" part. Leaving just "C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\" I have solved my problem with the code below but this assumes that the "Temp" folder is actually called "Temp". Is there a better way?   I'm looking for a way to create a vCards from Outlook Contacts. Ive seen plenty of examples of how to do the reverse, but that's not what i want. I believe it will involve either the OpenSharedItem method or the OpenSharedFolder method but I havent seen any examples of how to implement this. Does anyone know of where I might find a sample or two? My end goal is to output all my Contacts as vCards to a folder.

  My program is getting a false positive from a certain 3 letter Anti Virus Company. Its just our companies branded version of Ultra VNC. Its only this one company that's identifying it as a virus and we've been using the same copy of that program for almost a year. I know its possible to tell this Anti Virus program the VNC client is safe, but I can't do that for all of our clients. I've tried to find a way to contact this company to see if they can do something to prevent this from happening, but I'm not getting anywhere. Has anyone who's experiened this issue with thier software, found a solution? Thanks

I can do it easily with a a single file but I'm not sure how to do it for multiple files.
