  • How to change .htaccess file to work right in localhost?

    - by Manolo Salsas
I have this snippet code in my .htaccess file to prevent users from hotlinking the server's images: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www.)?itransformer.es/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule \.(gif|jpe?g|png|wbmp)$ http://itransformer.es [R,L] Of course, it is not working in my localhost, but don't know how to achieve it. My guess is that I should change the domain name with any wildcard. Any idea? Update I've finally found out the answer thanks to @Chris solution: RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^https?://%{HTTP_HOST}/.*/usuarios/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule \.(gif|jpe?g|png|wbmp)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST} [R=301,L] The /usuarios/ directory is because I only want to deny direct access to files inside this directory. Update2 For some reason, it doesn't work again. Finally I think that I found out a better solution: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} .*/usuarios/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule \.(gif|jpe?g|png|wbmp)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST} [R=301,L] I say better solution because what I want to deny is direct access to a file (image). Update3 Well, after a while I discovered above wasn't exactly what I wanted, so the next is definitive: RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^https?://itransformer.*$ [NC] RewriteRule /usuarios/.*\.(gif|jpe?g|png|wbmp)$ - [R=404,L] Just two doubts: If I change the above to: RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^https?://%{HTTP_HOST}.*$ [NC] RewriteRule /usuarios/.*\.(gif|jpe?g|png|wbmp)$ - [R=404,L] it doesn't work. I don't understand why, because %{HTTP_HOST} is equal to itransformer in my localhost, and it should work. The second doubt is why is shown the default 404 page and not my custom page (that is shown in all other 404 responses).

  • How to connect a USB GDI printer to Linux over a D-Link print server?

    - by jpe
The setup is the following: +------------+ +-----------------+ +---------+ | HP LJ P1005|--USB--| D-Link DPR-1020 |---LAN---| PC Linux| +------------+ +-----------------+ + +---------+ | +------------+ +--| PC Windows | +------------+ HP LJ P1005 is one of those GDI printers that requires the printer driver to do most of the work for it and therefore is a bit "special". D-Link DPR-1020 is a print server with an Ethernet and an USB port that actually supports printing to challenged (read GDI) printers using a utility called PS-Link. What the utility does is basically mirror a USB port over the network to the print server so that the printer driver and the printer both are happy to talk to each other. The PC-s are notebooks that come and go, i.e. are not there all the time. Is there an equivalent of the D-Link PS-Link utility for Linux that could mirror a USB port over the network for a Linux host? And can the solution be used with D-Link DPR-1020? If not then I basically wasted the money buying the print server because the goal was to share a small printer among a couple of users with diverse operating systems in an office. The print server specs say that it supports Linux and LJ P1005, but the Catch 22 appears to be the solution used for GDI printers... It should be noted that it is possible to print from Linux to LJ P1005 directly over USB. This far sharing involved reconnecting the USB cable to appropriate computer to print. Now one of the desks is separated, so the cable does not work. Searching the net did not yield anything useful. Please do not suggest solutions involving a Windows machine (either virtual or not), my question is whether a solution only involving a Linux machine exists.

  • Nginx, proxy passing to Apache, and SSL

    - by Vic
I have Nginx and Apache set up with Nginx proxy-passing everything to Apache except static resources. I have a server set up for port 80 like so: server { listen 80; server_name *.example1.com *.example2.com; [...] location ~* \.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png|pdf|te?xt)$ { access_log off; expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; add_header Vary: Accept-Encoding; } location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; include /etc/nginx/conf.d/proxy.conf; } } And since we have multiple ssl sites (with different ssl certificates) I have a server{} block for each of them like so: server { listen 443 ssl; server_name *.example1.com; [...] location ~* \.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png|pdf|te?xt)$ { access_log off; expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; add_header Vary: Accept-Encoding; } location / { proxy_pass https://127.0.0.1:8443; include /etc/nginx/conf.d/proxy.conf; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Port 443; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; } } server { listen 443 ssl; server_name *.example2.com; [...] location ~* \.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png|pdf|te?xt)$ { access_log off; expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; add_header Vary: Accept-Encoding; } location / { proxy_pass https://127.0.0.1:8445; include /etc/nginx/conf.d/proxy.conf; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Port 443; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; } } First of all, I think there is a very obvious problem here, which is that I'm double-encrypting everything, first at the nginx level and then again by Apache. To make everything worse, I just started using Amazon's Elastic Load Balancer, so I added the certificate to the ELB and now SSL encryption is happening three times. That's gotta be horrible for performance. What is the sane way to handle this? Should I be forwarding https on the ELB - http on nginx - http on apache? Secondly, there is so much duplication above. Is the best method to not repeat myself to put all of the static asset handling in an include file and just include it in the server?

  • python: os.system does not execute shell comand

    - by capoluca
I need to execute shell command in python program (I have ubuntu). More specifically I want to create graph using graphviz in python script. My code is os.system("dot -Tpng graph.dot -o graph.png") It does not work, but if I just type dot -Tpng graph.dot -o graph.png in command line then everything is fine. Do you know what the problem? • How do I force SSL for some URLs and force non-SSL for all others?

    - by brad
I'd like to ensure that certain URLs on my site are always accessed via HTTPS while all other URLs are accessed via HTTP. I can get either case working in my .htaccess file, however if I enable both, then I get infinite redirects. My .htaccess file is: <IfModule mod_expires.c> # turn off the module for this directory ExpiresActive off </IfModule> Options +FollowSymLinks AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .csv RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/?registration(.*)$ /register$1 [R=301,L] # Force SSL for certain URL's RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (login|register|account) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L] # Force non-SSL for certain URL's RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(login|register|account) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L] # Force files ending in X to use same protocol as initial request RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|jpeg|jpe|png|ico|css|js)$ - [S=1] # Use index.php as the controller RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(exe|css|js|jpe?g|gif|png|pdf|doc|txt|rtf|xls|swf|htc|ico)$ [NC] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^(/js.*)$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php [NC,L]

  • Apache2 "pseudo" doc root

    - by Brent
I have several folders in my /www folder that contain various applications. To keep things organized, I keep them in their own folders -- this includes my base application. Examples: phpmyadmin = /www/phpmyadmin phpvirtualbox = /www/phpvirtualbox root domain site = /www/Landing The reason I segregate all of my sites is that I actively develop on some of these (my root site) and when I publish via Visual Studio, I choose to delete prior to upload - if I put the Landing page in the base folder, it would be devastating for me. My goal is that when I go to www.example.com - I go to my page. If I go to www.example.com/phpmyadmin, it does not work because of this in the Apache2 folder: <Location "/"> # Error is the "/" Allow from all Order allow, deny MonoSetServerAlias domain SetHandler mono SetOutputFilter DEFLATE SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI "\.(?:gif|jpe?g|png)$" no-gzip dont-vary </Location> <IfModule mod_deflate.c> AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/javascript </IfModule> If I change the location to say "/Other", then the base site is broken, and the aliases are restored for the other sites. If it is "/", then the base site works and no aliases work. What could I do to allow it to treat my /www/Landing as my webroot, but when I go to an alias, it GOES to the alias. Edit: Added in the default VirtualHost info. DocumentRoot /var/www <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName www.example.com ExpiresActive On ExpiresByType image/gif A2592000 ExpiresByType image/png A2592000 ExpiresByType image/jpg A2592000 ExpiresByType image/jpeg A2592000 ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 days" MonoServerPath domain "/usr/bin/mod-mono-server4" MonoDebug domain true MonoSetEnv domain MONO_IOMAP=all MonoApplications domain "/:/var/www/Landing" RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule (.*) /Landing/$1 [L] #Need to watch what the Location is set to. • if I set up the expire http header of a css file to 1 year, if I modify that file, will it be ignore

    - by user39511
    I'm using rails with nginx/passenger. If I set up the expire http header of a css file to 1 year, if I modify that file, will it be ignored by the browser (ie, it will not request the new version)? Given that Rails adds a different timestamps to each asset such as foo.css?1270165626 every time I restart the server? That's the config I use right now (nginx/passenger): location ~* \.(ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png)(\?[0-9]+)?$ { expires max; break; }

  • Question about RewriteRule and HTTP_HOST server variable

    - by SeancoJr
In evaluating a rewrite rule that redirects to a specific URL and say the rewrite condition is met, would it be possible to use HTTP_HOST as part of the URL to be redirected to? Example in question: RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpe?g|gif|png|bmp)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/no-leech.jpg [R,NC] The motive behind this question is a desire to create a single htaccess file that would match against an addon domain (on a shared hosting account) and an infinite amount of subdomains below it to prevent hotlinking of images.

  • nginx rewrite for /blah/(.*) /$1

    - by skrewler
I'm migrating from mod_php to nginx. I got everything working except for this rewrite.. I'm just not familiar enough with nginx configuration to know the correct way to do this. I came up with this by looking at a sample on the nginx site. server { server_name test01.www.myhost.com; root /home/vhosts/my_home/blah; access_log /var/log/nginx/blah.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/blah.error.log; index index.php; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ @rewrites; } location @rewrites { rewrite ^ /index.php last; rewrite ^/ht/userGreeting.php /js/iFrame/index.php last; rewrite ^/ht/(.*)$ /$1 last; rewrite ^/userGreeting.php$ /js/iFrame/index.php last; rewrite ^/a$ /adminLogin.php last; rewrite ^/boom\/(.*)$ /boom/index.php?q=$1 last; rewrite ^favicon.ico$ favico_ry.ico last; } # This block will catch static file requests, such as images, css, js # The ?: prefix is a 'non-capturing' mark, meaning we do not require # the pattern to be captured into $1 which should help improve performance location ~* \.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png)$ { # Some basic cache-control for static files to be sent to the browser expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } include php.conf; } The issue I'm having is with this rewrite: rewrite ^ht\/(.*)$ /$1 last; 99% of requests that will hit this rewrite are static files. So I think maybe it's getting sent to the static files section and that's where things are being messed up? I tried adding this but it didn't work: location ~* ^ht\/.*\.(?:ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png)$ { # Some basic cache-control for static files to be sent to the browser expires max; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate, proxy-revalidate"; } Any help would be appreciated. I know the best thing to do would be to just change the references of /ht/whatever.jpg to /whatever.jpg in the code.. but that's not an option for now.

  • How to match filetype with regular expression?

    - by Sanarothe
Hi. I'm stuck trying to get a regex to match a filetype in a sorting script. Dir.foreach(savedirs[0]) do |x| puts "Matching " + x + " against filetypes." case x when x.match(/^.*\.exe$/i) then puts x when x.match(/\.jpe?g$/) then FileUtils.move(x, sortpath[".exe"], :verbose => true) when x =~ /\.jpg$/ then FileUtils.move(x, sortpath[".jpg"]) end end I can't get any of these to match on in windows. All I need is to confirm that a given filename matches against compatible filetypes.

  • Find all <a>s to who's href points to an image with XPath 1.0

    - by Jeffrey Aylesworth
First, I can assume that all urls that end with jpeg, jpg, bmp, png or gif are images, and others aren't. I thought of, and tried two solutions: Matching the regular expression .(jpe?g|bmp|png|gif)$ Using ends-with to check each separately But, it appears that neither of these exist in XPath 1.0, or at least, they don't exist in Firefox (I am writing a greasemonkey script, so it is only important for the path to work in Firefox).

  • htaccess filesMatch exclusion

I have the following directive in my htaccess <filesMatch "\.(gif|jpe?g|png|js|css|swf|php|ico|txt|pdf|xml|html?)$"> FileETag None <ifModule mod_headers.c> Header unset ETag Header set Cache-Control "max-age=0, no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate" Header set Pragma "no-cache" Header set Expires "Wed, 11 Jan 1984 05:00:00 GMT" </ifModule> </filesMatch> I copied that regex from someplace in Web months ago. It should add those headers to any HTTP Response that does NOT have those extensions. But it's not working, it's adding them to any Response. I also need to create another directive to add Header set Cache-Control "max-age=3600, public" to Responses of files that DOES have them. Could anybody help me make proper fileMatch regexes?

  • uploading zip files in codeigniter won't work

    - by krike
    I have created a helper that requires some parameters and should upload a file, the function works for images however not for zip files. I searched on google and even added a MY_upload.php - http://codeigniter.com/bug_tracker/bug/6780/ however I still have the problem so I used print_r to display the array of the uploaded files, the image is fine however the zip array is empty: Array ( [file_name] => [file_type] => [file_path] => [full_path] => [raw_name] => [orig_name] => [file_ext] => [file_size] => [is_image] => [image_width] => [image_height] => [image_type] => [image_size_str] => ) Array ( [file_name] => 2385b959279b5e3cd451fee54273512c.png [file_type] => image/png [file_path] => I:/wamp/www/e-commerce/sources/images/ [full_path] => I:/wamp/www/e-commerce/sources/images/2385b959279b5e3cd451fee54273512c.png [raw_name] => 2385b959279b5e3cd451fee54273512c [orig_name] => 1269770869_Art_Artdesigner.lv_.png [file_ext] => .png [file_size] => 15.43 [is_image] => 1 [image_width] => 113 [image_height] => 128 [image_type] => png [image_size_str] => width="113" height="128" ) this is the function helper function multiple_upload($name = 'userfile', $upload_dir = 'sources/images/', $allowed_types = 'gif|jpg|jpeg|jpe|png', $size) { $CI =& get_instance(); $config['upload_path'] = realpath($upload_dir); $config['allowed_types'] = $allowed_types; $config['max_size'] = $size; $config['overwrite'] = FALSE; $config['encrypt_name'] = TRUE; $ffiles = $CI->upload->data(); echo "<pre>"; print_r($ffiles); echo "</pre>"; $CI->upload->initialize($config); $errors = FALSE; if(!$CI->upload->do_upload($name))://I believe this is causing the problem but I'm new to codeigniter so no idea where to look for errors $errors = TRUE; else: // Build a file array from all uploaded files $files = $CI->upload->data(); endif; // There was errors, we have to delete the uploaded files if($errors): @unlink($files['full_path']); return false; else: return $files; endif; }//end of multiple_upload() and this is the code in my controller if(!$s_thumb = multiple_upload('small_thumb', 'sources/images/', 'gif|jpg|jpeg|jpe|png', 1024)): //http://www.matisse.net/bitcalc/ $data['feedback'] = '<div class="error">Could not upload the small thumbnail!</div>'; $error = TRUE; endif; if(!$main_file = multiple_upload('main_file', 'sources/items/', 'zip', 307200)): $data['feedback'] = '<div class="error">Could not upload the main file!</div>'; $error = TRUE; endif;

  • Bizarre image loading problem from apache2

    - by NateDSaint
Users have complained a few times about seeing a bizarre set of pink or green stripes on our webpage. At first I thought there were a rash of video card outages, but then someone sent me a screenshot from their browser (IE8). I later saw the same thing, but with slightly different colors on Chrome. Users have experienced this on their iPads and iPhones (iOS Safari). Because I've optimized the site to cache images, the bad image stays around until you clear your cache, so once you do, it resolves itself. My assumption is that the transmission of the image is being cut off mid-stream and then staying that way, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Here's what I've checked: Header length is being sent, and transmission looks okay (wget sample below): wget http://www.superiorlivestock.com/templates/sla2/images/wallbg2.jpg --2012-04-05 08:46:00-- http://www.superiorlivestock.com/templates/sla2/images/wallbg2.jpg Resolving www.superiorlivestock.com (www.superiorlivestock.com)... [ip redacted] Connecting to www.superiorlivestock.com (www.superiorlivestock.com)|[ip redacted]|:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 45926 (45K) [image/jpeg] Saving to: `wallbg2.jpg' Images are not being served gzipped (apache conf below): SetOutputFilter DEFLATE SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI \.(?:gif|jpe?g|png)$ no-gzip dont-vary The site is www.superiorlivestock.com, and here's a sample of the bad page load: Is there something obvious I'm missing? Am I saving my images in the wrong format somehow?

  • Fix 403 errors in Google Webmaster Tools

    - by Justin
Hi Team, I have a domain that has "fallen off a cliff" for searches in Google. Searches that used to be in position 1-4 are now gone from page 1. The same search in Bing shows the typical position expected (top 5 results). In reviewing Google Webmaster Tools, I am seeing two problems: 1. The Sitemap is reporting two errors: General HTTP error: HTTP 403 error (Forbidden) URLs not accessible However, the URL they provide as "no accessible" is accessible. I can click the link Google provides and it works fine. There are 6,000 crawl errors of type 403. Again, most of these pages that have 403 are accessible in my browser (tried various browsers as well). About half are from January, the other half from November. There are no IP-specific firewall rules on ports 80 and 443 that could block the goolgebot Using the user agent switcher add-on for FF I confirmed that the page loads when the user agent is the googlebot I an confirm that most of the pages reported as 403 are accessible. A search of just "site:thedomain.com" does confirm there are over 9,000 in the index. But most searches don't return the site. I believe the 403 issues are the cause of the fall in search rankings, but I can't seem to find any information online with ideas about how to address this. Any ideas? jpe

  • Rewrite img and link paths with htaccess and serve the file from rewritten path?

    - by frequent
I have a static mockup page, which I want to "customize" by switching a variable used in image-src and link-href attributes. Paths will look like this: <img src="/some/where/VARIABLE/img/1.jpg" alt="" /> <link rel="some" href="/some/where/VARIABLE/stuff/foo.bar" /> I'm setting a cookie with the VARIABLE value on the preceding page and now want to modfiy the paths accordingly by replacing VARIABLE with the cookie value. I'm a htaccess newbie. This is what I have (doesn't work): <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> # get cookie value cookie RewriteCond %{HTTP_COOKIE} client=([^;]*) # rewrite/redirect to correct file RewriteRule ^/VARIABLE/(.+)$ /%1/$1 [L] </IfModule> So I thought my first line gets the cookie value and stores this in %1. And on the second line I'm filtering VARIABLE, replace it with the cookie value and whatever comes after VARIABLE in $1. Thanks for sheeding some light on what I'm doing, doing wrong and if I can do this at all using htaccess. EDIT: I'm sort of halfway through, but it's still not working... Mabye someone can apply the finishing touches: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> # check for client cookie RewriteCond %{HTTP_COOKIE} (?:^|;\s*)client=([^;]*) # check if an image was requested RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} \.(jpe?g|gif|bmp|png)$ # exclude these folders RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !some/members/logos # grab everything before the variable folder and everything afterwards # replace this with first bracket/cookie_value/second bracket RewriteRule (^.+)/VARIABLE/(.+)$ $1/%1/$2 [L] </IfModule> Still can't get it to work, but I think this is the correct way of doing it. Thanks for help!

  • Proper caching method with .htaccess

There are a lot of snippets that enable caching on a website and I don't know which one should I use. The most popular is something like this: <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive On ExpiresByType image/jpg "access 1 year" ExpiresByType image/png "access 1 year" ExpiresByType text/css "access 1 month" ExpiresDefault "access 2 days" </IfModule> I also found something similar, but with keyword 'plus'. Like this: ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 2592000 seconds" What does it mean, because I didn't find anything in the documentation. Another snippet I found: <ifModule mod_headers.c> <filesMatch "\.(ico|jpe?g|png|gif|swf)$"> Header set Cache-Control "max-age=2592000, public" </filesMatch> <filesMatch "\.(css)$"> Header set Cache-Control "max-age=604800, public" </filesMatch> <filesMatch "\.(js)$"> Header set Cache-Control "max-age=216000, private" </filesMatch> <filesMatch "\.(x?html?|php)$"> Header set Cache-Control "max-age=600, private, must-revalidate" </filesMatch> </ifModule> What is the best practice?
