  • Zoom out recursively for all the folders

    I want to reduce the icons size in all the folders. In ubuntu 11.10, version, there is an option to decrease icons size and I changed there, and all the icons size is reduced recursively. I am using 11.10 version now. Here, whichever folder I open every time I need to zoom out.(I want zoom out). If I have 20 recursive folders, I open each and every folder and right click there and zoom out. Do we have any global command or grapical tool to reduce the icons size in all the folders. I was told that unity will do this work but I am confused how to use it. If unity is the only solution, please guide me where to change the size. Thanks a ton, Thanks, Chaitanya.

  • Ubuntu 12.10 with kernel 3.5.0-18

    I had ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.0.2. Today I have updated my system and got 12.10 with kernel 3.5.0-18. Now when I boot my machine with 3.5 kernel, it starts until the page where I enter my password. Within seconds, I get a page with looooong list of some commands or list. I cant take screenshot of that. It looks something like, [1.2234978942837]kjsahfa;lsfksld;fkjsf;owieurwirejw/rnw;erkjwelrjw2309480432 [1.3294823498230948]as;lfjsf;iuwrijrwjlkerjw;rekwer;lkwjre;lkjRIJWEORIWE'JJA; something like this. Luckily, in my boot page, I have 3.0.2 kernel also. When I boot with 3.0.2 kernel there is no problem. But when I boot with 3.5.0, it throws that wierd error. I wont be able to do anything at that time. None of the keys work. I have to forcibly shutdown the machine and restart with 3.0.2 kernel. Please help..... Thanks, Chaitanya.

    Hi I have a Date value like 01/01/2010 14:30:00 in a cell in Excel sheet. I want to convert that Date to Text and also want the Text to look exactly like Date.   • Unable to connect to Amazon EC2 without using PPK file

    I have a build job which runs on Hudson and synchronizes content from an Amazon AWS server. This is written in shell I have a PPK file given to me which can establish the connectivity Here is the problem. The build script I use doesn't establish the connectivity in the code. So, I manually connect the host thro the PPK file using Putty and then run the job, then it works fine I am new to the shell stuff. Could someone help me out by suggesting how I can establish connectivity using the PPK file in the shell so I do not have to do it manually thro Putty? Thanks, Krishna

    Hi, I am using joomla Artio SEF for my website. I am using a form for new customer. So it uses index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1 url as "joomla15/new-customer" as sef url. Now I need to add error message like index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=".$msg after submitting this form. In this case it is not displaying as sef and showing "index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=New Customer Received". I cld not use custom redirect also,becoz msg are dynamically generated.     Hi there, I've got a question about a Silverlight WCF Databinding pattern: There are many examples about how to bind data using {Binding} expressions in XAML, how to make async calls to a WCF service, set the DataContext property of a element in the UI, how to use ObservableCollections and INotifyPropertyChanged, INotifyCollectionChanged and so on. Background: I'm using the MVVM pattern, and have a Silverlight ItemsControl, whose ItemsSource is set to an ObservableCollection property on my ViewModel object. My view is of course the XAML which has the {Binding}. Say the model object is called 'Metric'. My ViewModel periodically makes calls to a WCF service that returns ObservableCollection. MetricInfo is the data transfer object (DTO). My question is two-fold: Is there any way to avoid copying each property of MetricInfo to the model class - Metric? When the WCF calls completes, is there any way to make sure I sync the items which are in both my local ObservableCollection and the result of the WCF call - without having to first clear out all the items in the local collection and then add all the ones from the WCF call result? thanks, Krishna

  • I cant add PPA repositories!

I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. And it works fine. I have updated and installed the system. I have even installed all required packages. But the thing is as soon as I want to install more packages, Like PPA and sort I am not able to. Till now I have not been able to install any PPA. I am working behind a proxy.

    I'm trying to create a Game Menu which contains some Menu Items like New Game Multiplayer Options Exit I want to make this Menu Items Transparent. Only Text in White color should be visible. So i guess i do not need any background image for Menu Items. I have seen examples of SpriteButton like given below.   • Switching between ethernet interfaces on Ubuntu 10.04 SERVER

    I have ubuntu 10.04 "SERVER" installed on a system with two ehternet ports. I use only one at a time. I wanted to know if I can switch between ports without using ifup and ifdown every time. That means when I connect my Lan cable on eth0 it should work and it does. But when I disconnect the lan cable and connect it on eth1 I have to ifdown eth0 and only then it works. In my /etc/network/interfaces file I have configured both eth0 and eth1. there is no problem other than I have to switch it manually with ifdown and ifup everytime. Please guide. Thanks in advance

  • SCHA API for resource group failover / switchover history

    The Oracle Solaris Cluster framework keeps an internal log of cluster events, including switchover and failover of resource groups. These logs can be useful to Oracle support engineers for diagnosing cluster behavior. However, till now, there was no external interface to access the event history. Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.2 provides a new API option for viewing the recent history of resource group switchovers in a program-parsable format. Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.2 provides a new option tag argument RG_FAILOVER_LOG for the existing API command scha_cluster_get which can be used to list recent failover / switchover events for resource groups. The command usage is as shown below: # scha_cluster_get -O RG_FAILOVER_LOG number_of_days number_of_days : the number of days to be considered for scanning the historical logs. The command returns a list of events in the following format. Each field is separated by a semi-colon [;]: resource_group_name;source_nodes;target_nodes;time_stamp source_nodes: node_names from which resource group is failed over or was switched manually. target_nodes: node_names to which the resource group failed over or was switched manually. There is a corresponding enhancement in the C API function scha_cluster_get() which uses the SCHA_RG_FAILOVER_LOG query tag. But the limitation of locate is that I cannot find files with certain size or modified/created time. can you suggest me any ideas on how to find files at more speed or in that case how to pipe output of locate command in a way that all other information like size, time, etc. can be displayed or redirected to a file.

  • How to set the monitor to its native resolution when xrandr approach isn't working?

    I am trying to setup my Samsung syncmaster B2030 monitor in ubuntu 12.04. It's native resolution is 1600x900 which I am not getting in ubuntu and which I am trying to get. I tried using xrandr approach provided in these urls: 1) http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-change-display-resolution-settings-using-xrandr.html 2) How to set the monitor to its native resolution which is not listed in the resolutions list? S1) I used cvt 1600 900 60 to get the modeline. As a consequence, whenever someone asks a question involving a million inputs in an interview, I find myself out of depth. How do I prepare for such questions? Any books/resources to refer to?   • Partitions are gone after installing ubuntu 13.10

    I have installed Ubuntu 13.10 today. I selected it to overwrite my windows 7 operating system. However, after booting up Ubuntu I saw that my partitions are gone and all the space is showing up us in one partition. Why is this happening? Have I done something wrong while choosing to overwrite windows 7? I understand that while overwriting windows 7 it will format my C: drive there, but why my other partitions are gone? Is there any way that I can get my data back?

I am describing the company's profile: company is currently having 5 branches and planning to extend their branches all over the country. it is an insurance surveying company. they are dealing with 6 Categories in the insurance domain, vide .. Engineering Fire Marine Motor Miscellaneous Risk Inspection and branches named as b1, b2, b3, b4, b5 and Extending. and finally they have contract with 22 companies. For each claim they are assign a unique ID. like contractcompany/category/serialno Ex: take a contracted company names as xxx, sss, zzz. xxx/Engineering/001 sss/Engineering/001 . . . xxx/Enginnering/002 sss/Engineering/002 . . . xxx/Fire/001 sss/Fire/001 . . . xxx/Fire/002 . . . xxx/Fire/002 . . . and so on..... by this way they issue the unique ID for each claim. Finally what i want is developing the interface with PHP mysql and ajax auto generating the unique id for each claim. store full details of the claims with reference to unique id. show all claims in one page, and they can view by branch wise and category wise. send monthly Report (All claims they have given and status of claims) to contract companies. give access to contracted companies, but they can view only their respective claims. Each claim has its own documents. So they can be uploaded by own company users or administrator. these files are associated with unique ID. contracted companies can view files. Give access to branches to enter new claims and update old claims. Administrator can create, update and delete all the claims and their details. Only administrator can grant new users (own company branches / contracted companies) Finally the the panel is completely database driven. Could any body can help.     Hi, I am trying to setup James mail server on a linux machine. The linux machine has public static ip address assigned. I installed James and added in the config.xml added the servername as mydomain.com. In the DNS for mydomain.com, I have created a A-record, say mx.mydomain.com, which corresponds to the ipaddress of the above mail server machine. Then added mx.mydomain.com as MX record for mydomain.com. In James, I have created a new user test. Then from gmail, I sent a mail to [email protected]. The mail is not received back and it didn't even bounce back. The linux machine is behind a firewall with only 22, 80, 8080 ports open for external network. My question here is, Do I require do open any other ports on the firewall so that the mail I send from gmail arrives to James? If it's not the port problem, any views on solving this issue? I don't want to send mails from this server. It's only for receiving the mails.

    hi, I am setting up james mail server. I installed James and added in the config.xml added the servername as mydomain.com. In the DNS for mydomain.com, I have created a A-record, say mx.mydomain.com, which corresponds to the ipaddress of the above mail server machine. Then added mx.mydomain.com as MX record for mydomain.com. In James, I have created a new user test. From the user I have sent a mail to my gmail account. I see that the mail is accepted and the mail is in outgoing folder of James. But it's not relay to the gmail server. In the config.xml of James, I have added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as the dns server addresses, which are public DNS servers hosted by Google. IPTables on the machine is stopped. Thanks for your help!
