This simple tutorial turns cast off circuit boards into wall art. While the author of the tutorial opted to use motherboards, you could easily use smaller frames/mats and use old expansion boards too.   • Windows 7 System process reading/writing like crazy

    I have a problem that my windows 7 computer sometimes starts accessing the disk like crazy for maybe 10 minutes at a time. The process in question is the "system" process. I have disabled superfetch and hibernation on my computer, if that makes any difference. I disabled those to see if they were the cause of the problems, but no change. I have 6 GB of RAM and only the web browser was started when I took the screenshot, so I don't think it was thrashing due to page faults. Any ideas on how to find the cause of this?

  • internet connection problem related to a recurring registry error

    I have a Windows XP desktop system connected to the Internet via ethernet LAN. Initially, none of my browsers were connecting to the Internet, but I was able to update my antivirus software and all of my connection settings were perfect. I was able to solve the problem by running WinSock XP, which apparently fixes connection problems that have been caused by registry issues. My problem now is that every time I shut down the machine, the problem comes back (Internet browsers won't connect). Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on this? Thanks

I am using Archlinux and installed openvpn with Pacman. I want to acheive the following: Connect to the VPN Server, being able to route certain made up hosts through it.   • Routing all Traffic through OpenVPN Tunnel

    I have installed OpenVPN server on Archlinux and am now using OpenVPN GUI on Windows 7, I can talk to other computers connected through the VPN but I have not yet figured out how to route all traffic through the tunnel. How do I do this? I figured I need to do it with route ( cmd command ) but I think i need some pointers here. I've followed the OpenVPN HowTo on the matter but that doesn't work, it simply doesn't push the "force the client to go through this gateway"-option. And changing from OpenVPN to a PPTP / IPSec alternative is not an option at the moment.

  • Accidently overwrote system.dbf - What now?

    I accidentally overwrote system.dbf in /usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf Well I did not actually do it accidentally, however I overwrote it because of other failures in the database. And when I try running the following: SQL> shutdown ORA-01109: database not open Database dismounted. ORACLE instance shut down. SQL> startup ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 289406976 bytes Fixed Size 1258488 bytes Variable Size 92277768 bytes Database Buffers 192937984 bytes Redo Buffers 2932736 bytes Database mounted. ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open Now I want to try to Recover the database because starting it in mounted or standard surely doesn't work. SQL> recover database using backup controlfile; ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01122: database file 1 failed verification check ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01206: file is not part of this database - wrong database id How do I solve this? Is it even possible? My "real" problem was that I ran the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure and it overwrote my old configuration and probably removed passwords and such so my tables were gone, however I found the mytablespace.dbf so I hope that it is possible to recover? Please shed some light on this.

  • Installing Intel Rapid Storage Drivers makes my eSATA Drives act weird

    I have a HP 8530w Elitebook this Laptop got an eSATA port which I want to plug my LaCie d2 Quadra V2 1TB harddrive into. It all works well on a fresh install of Windows 7 without the Intel Chipset drivers installed. However when I install the Intel Rapid Storage drivers or the Intel Matrix software my drive seems to "disconnect" when I use it to much. I have a lot of Virtual PC's on the drive and when I start them the disk somewhat disconnects. What could cause this?

  • Outlook folder structure Template

    Having a lot of different customers and a lot of different areas to work with makes it trivial to have your mail folders in order. Everytime I get a new Project / Customer I want to add a certain Folder Structure in my "Customer" / "Project" sub directory. It might look like this: Customer_name/ Bugs Documents Important Support/ Done And as it is today, I have to manually add these manually, which is harsh when you have a lot of it going on and each sub directory under the customer_name directory needs to have "display all items" since it's important to me to see all Items in Bugs / Support / Important. Makes my life easier. So, Is it possible to Automize the process somehow? Macro? Folder Templates? What are my options?

When i look into my cursor in the onStart() method i find a number of records but when i try to use them in my trigger() method it has zero records. the field private Cursor c; in onStart() c = dbHelper.fetchAllRecords(); in trigger() c.getCount() returns null I didn't close the cursor earlier than in my onDestroy() method

    Hi, I have a problem with my ListActivity, i use a thread to show a ProgressDialog where get a list of all installed applications. I turn it into a list adapter and than i want to set the listadapter of the activity but i can't do that from the thread. I get the following error: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(14429): android.view.ViewRoot$CalledFromWrongThreadException: Only the original thread that created a view hierarchy can touch its views. new Thread() { public void run() { showList(); // the method where i get all the apps and have the setListAdapter(); method progressDialog.dismiss(); } }.start(); How do I get it so I can use the setListAdapter from inside my thread

    The following statement will remove line numbers in a txt file: cat withLineNumbers.txt | sed 's/^.......//' >> withoutLineNumbers.txt The input file is created with the following statement (this one i understand): nl -ba input.txt >> withLineNumbers.txt I know the functionality of cat and i know the output is written to the 'withoutLineNumbers.txt' file. But the part of '| sed 's/^.......//'' is not really clear to me. Thanks for your time.

  • Grab triangles within a lower triangle

    I have the need to grab all the thee element triangles that make up the lower triangle of a symmetric matrix. I can not think of how to grab all these pieces in the order of far left column working down and then next column to the right and so on. I know that the numbe rof mini triangles inside of the lower triangle is: n = x(x - 1)/2 where: x = nrow(mats[[i]]) Here I've created three matrices with letters (it's easier for me to conceptualize this way) and the elements in the order I'm looking for: FUN <- function(n) { matrix(LETTERS[1:(n*n)], n) } mats <- lapply(3:5, FUN) So this is the output I'd like to get (I put it in code rather than output format) for each of the matrices created above: list(c("B", "C", "F")) list(c("B", "C", "G"), c("C", "D", "H"), c("G", "H", "L")) list(c("B", "C", "H"), c("C", "D", "I"), c("D", "E", "J"), c("H", "I", "N"), c("I", "J", "O"), c("N", "O", "T")) How can I do this task in the fastest manner possible while staying in base R?   • Consume a WCF Web Service in Sharepoint Services 3.0

    I've seen this question and since it doesn't answer my question and the topic is fairly miss-leading in my opinion, I feel the urge to ask this again. I have a Sharepoint Webpart that I deploy using Visual Studio Sharepoint Tools 1.2 to a Sharepoint Services 3.0 instance on my local Windows 2003 server. All works great, however, as soon as I add a WCF Service it won't run the code. All I get is a File not found error.     In addition to my Previous topic on How to use SVN, Branch? Tag? Trunk? I would like to get in-depth on how a programmer should/could use TFS. The things that are most interesting to me is not how to set up the server, rather how you use it on a daily basis. In the area of software engineering where your responsibility not only lies on code but achitecture, documentation and other fields, you need to have a collection of your work, prefferably on the same place. So these are my point of interest which I would like to get more knowledge about How would you strucuter a TFS Workspace / Project to support lots of different customers / projects and maybe different projects per customer? Splitting up the folder strucutre on the above project into different pieces such as, Code, Documents - Architecture, Requirements and other, what more could there be and what would be a nice commonly used folder structure? An easy to browse repository; Again the folder structure here is important however this point is more aimed at different Explorers for the repository, not only the built in Team Foundation Explorer. These are just a couple of the points that I would like to know more about, suggestions on Beginners guides, in-depth guides and links covering the above would be very much helpful, please feel free to add other important knowledge-points to this as well.

  • How to exercise and feel well when programming?

    While I'm sitting here in my expensive chair which was told to me were gonna help me with my neck and shoulder pains; it didn't. So don't go spend $2,000 on a chair because it's not gonna help. I am trying everything to keep my body in shape, exercising to keep my pizza-body slim and just to feel well in general. What I'd like to do is take a couple of seconds, maybe when the code compiles, to reach up, do a couple of X and feel good. But, what is this X? When I sit there at work, what will everyone think when I stand up and start to hula hula because I want to exercise my basin? I know a lot of programmers out there do have pain so let's come up with a little list together to help us all keep our joints feeling good. Programming gives me joint pain, how do i avoid it without quitting programming?

    I am trying to create a WebPart for my locally installed Sharepoint Services 3.0 and I've followed various tips and guides to get it all working. However somewhere on the road I must have missed something or this is just not "in all the books". When creating an empty Sharepoint WebPart and just hitting F5 to debug it, I get the following message: Error 1 The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Negotiate'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM'. 0 0 And as this article from microsoft suggests I did enable Negotiate, NTLM. But it's still not working, Any suggestions?

  • Reading from the Registry in ASP.NET

    I have a Library ( DLL ) that has a method with the following: var masterKey = Registry. LocalMachine. OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Dynamics\\5.0\\"); When running this method in an WinForms applicaiton, masterKey is not null and when running this in asp.net masterKey is null! I've checked the executing user with WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name and the same user is executing both applications. The asp.net application is executed in visual studio ( debug: F5 ) and so is the WinForms application. How come I cannot read the key in asp.net?
