  • Getting a borderless window to receive mouseMoved events (Cocoa OSX)

    - by Michael Minerva
    I have a little popup window used for selecting images sorted by groups, and I would like to add a selection box around whatever image is being hovered over. I am trying to this by overriding the mouseMoved event for the window but it seems that a window that has a border-less style mask receives no mouseMoved events even if you have set setAcceptsMouseMoved events to YES. Is there anyway to make a borderless window receive this events?

  • Update NSView in function of events

    - by Forchita
    Hi everyone! I have a main view (subclass of NSView) and as i'm new to cocoa, i'd like to know how to update the view in function of events. I know there are many methods that take events such as -(void)mouseMoved:(NSEvent*)event or - (void)mouseClicked:(NSEvent*)event My algorithm to determine what to do is ready. I want to know where I should update the main view: is it in the -(void)mouseMoved:(NSEvent*)event or in the - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect. And if it is in drawRect, then how should i pass the information to it? Thanks in advance!

  • get stick analogue XY position using Jinput in lwjgl

    - by oIrC
    i want to capture the movement of the analogue stick of the gamePad. is there any equivalent function to this public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent mouseEvent) { mouseEvent.getX(); //return the X coordinate of the cursor inside a component mouseEvent.getY();//return the Y coordinate of the cursor inside a component } into lwjgl.input.Controllers, i found controller.getAxisValue() but this one doesn't work as the function above. any help? thanks.

  • [JOGL] My program is too slow, how can I profile with Eclipse?

    - by nkint
    My simple opengl program is really toooo slow and not fluid. I'm rendering 30 sphere with simple illumination and simple materials. The only complex computing stuff I do is a collision detection between ray-mouse and spheres (that works ok and i do it only in mouseMoved) I'm not using any threads, just an animator to move spheres. How can I profile my jogl project? Or maybe (most probable...) I have some opengl instructions that I don't understand and make render particular accurate (or back face rendering that I don't need or whatever I don't know exactly I'm just entering the opengl world)

  • Mouse event in Java

    - by Harish
    I am trying to move a JComponent say a label over a table.I am tracking this event using MouseMotionListener's mouseDragged method.This method perfectly helps me in tracking the item.Is there a way to track the mouse release after dragging is complete(.ie the dropping event). tktLabel1.addMouseMotionListener(new MouseMotionListener() { public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent arg0) { tktLabel1.setBounds(tktLabel1.getX() + arg0.getX(), tktLabel1.getY() + arg0.getY(), width, height); } public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent arg0) { } });

  • Why does my NSWindow only receive mouseOver events the first time?

    - by DanieL
    I have an application where a borderless window is shown and hidden, using orderOut and orderFront. When it is visible, I want the it to become the key window when the mouse moves over it. So far I've done this: In awakeFromNib I have set its first responder to itself. In the window's constructor I set accepts mouse events to YES. In the mouseMoved method, I use makeKeyAndOrderToFront. My problem is, that this only works the first time I move the mouse over the window. After that, it doesn't receive any mouseOver events. I've tried checking the firstResponder but as far as I can tell it never changes from the window. Any ideas what I can do to get this working?

  • Auto-hide JMenuBar

  • NSView -(void)keyDown in console program

    - by Jonas Byström
    I'm not getting the -(void)keyDown callback on my inherited NSOpenGLView (note that mouseMoved does not work either though I do setAcceptsMouseMovedEvents:YES, but that is not an issue yet). It implements - (BOOL)acceptsFirstResponder { return YES; } but still no luck. My knowledgeable friend implied that it might have something to do with that the application is still a console application and not a bundled .app (I'm currently porting it). If so: is there some way to circumvent? Could the cause be something else? When I terminate my console application, I frequently see all my keypresses go to stdout so it does seem reasonable...

  • jQuery mobile 1.1.0 slider: JS-object properties access?

    - by Koniak
    EDIT: This could be seen as a pure javascript objects question. The code can be found here: jquery.mobile-1.1.0.js I need to access properties of a jQuery mobile JS-object but is not sure how that is possible. In the jquery.mobile-1.1.0.js and mobile.slider is the following (see extend on line 5967): $.widget( "mobile.slider", $.mobile.widget, { ... _create: function() { ... $.extend( this, { slider: slider, handle: handle, valuebg: valuebg, dragging: false, beforeStart: null, userModified: false, mouseMoved: false }); Primarily the property I would like to read is the "dragging". I know i can execute the methods using: $("#slider").slider("refresh") Is there a similair way to access the properties? Thanks

  • JGridView (Part 2)

    - by Geertjan
    The second sample in the JGrid download is a picture viewer that needs to be seen to be believed. Here it is, integrated into a NetBeans Platform application (click to enlarge it): When you mouse over the images, they change, showing several different images instantaneously. Here's the explorer view above, mainly making use of code from the sample: public class JGridView extends JScrollPane { @Override public void addNotify() { super.addNotify(); final ExplorerManager em = ExplorerManager.find(this); if (em != null) { final JGrid grid = new JGrid(); Node root = em.getRootContext(); final Node[] nodes = root.getChildren().getNodes(); final PicViewerObject[] pics = new PicViewerObject[nodes.length]; for (int i = 0; i < nodes.length; i++) { Node node = nodes[i]; pics[i] = node.getLookup().lookup(PicViewerObject.class); } grid.getCellRendererManager().setDefaultRenderer(new PicViewerRenderer()); grid.setModel(new DefaultListModel() { @Override public int getSize() { return pics.length; } @Override public Object getElementAt(int i) { return pics[i]; } }); grid.setFixedCellDimension(160); grid.addMouseMotionListener(new MouseAdapter() { int lastIndex = -1; @Override public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) { if (lastIndex >= 0) { Object o = grid.getModel().getElementAt(lastIndex); if (o instanceof PicViewerObject) { Rectangle r = grid.getCellBounds(lastIndex); if (r != null && !r.contains(e.getPoint())) { ((PicViewerObject) o).setMarker(false); grid.repaint(r); } } } int index = grid.getCellAt(e.getPoint()); if (index >= 0) { Object o = grid.getModel().getElementAt(index); if (o instanceof PicViewerObject) { Rectangle r = grid.getCellBounds(index); if (r != null) { ((PicViewerObject) o).setFraction(((float) e.getPoint().x - (float) r.x) / (float) r.width); ((PicViewerObject) o).setMarker(true); lastIndex = index; grid.repaint(r); } } } } }); grid.getSelectionModel().addListSelectionListener(new ListSelectionListener() { @Override public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) { //Somehow compare the selected item //with the list of books and find a matching book: int selectedIndex = grid.getSelectedIndex(); for (int i = 0; i < nodes.length; i++) { int picId = pics[i].getId(); if (selectedIndex == picId) { try { em.setSelectedNodes(new Node[]{nodes[i]}); } catch (PropertyVetoException ex) { Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex); } } } } }); setViewportView(grid); } } } The next step is to create a generic JGridView that will handle any kind of object automatically.

  • Java Dragging an object from one area to another [on hold]

    - by user50369
    Hello I have a game where you drag bits of food around the screen. I want to be able to click on an ingredient and drag it to another part of the screen where I release the mouse. I am new to java so I do not really know how to do this please help me Here is me code. This is the class with the mouse listeners in it: public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) { if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON1) { Comp.ml = true; // placing if (manager.title == true) { if (title.r.contains(Comp.mx, Comp.my)) { title.overview = true; } else if (title.r1.contains(Comp.mx, Comp.my)) { title.options = true; } else if (title.r2.contains(Comp.mx, Comp.my)) { System.exit(0); } } if (manager.option == true) { optionsMouse(e); } mouseinventory(e); } else if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON3) { Comp.mr = true; } } private void mouseinventory(MouseEvent e) { if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON1) { } else if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON1) { } } @Override public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) { if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON1) { Comp.ml = false; } else if (e.getButton() == MouseEvent.BUTTON3) { Comp.mr = false; } } @Override public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e) { for(int i = 0; i < overview.im.ing.toArray().length; i ++){ if(overview.im.ing.get(i).r.contains(Comp.mx,Comp.my)){ overview.im.ing.get(i).newx = Comp.mx; overview.im.ing.get(i).newy = Comp.my; overview.im.ing.get(i).dragged = true; }else{ overview.im.ing.get(i).dragged = false; } } } @Override public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) { Comp.mx = e.getX(); Comp.my = e.getY(); // System.out.println("" + Comp.my); } This is the class called ingredient public abstract class Ingrediant { public int x,y,id,lastx,lasty,newx,newy; public boolean removed = false,dragged = false; public int width; public int height; public Rectangle r = new Rectangle(x,y,width,height); public Ingrediant(){ r = new Rectangle(x,y,width,height); } public abstract void tick(); public abstract void render(Graphics g); } and this is a class which extends ingredient called hagleave public class HagLeave extends Ingrediant { private Image img; public HagLeave(int x, int y, int id) { this.x = x; this.y = y; this.newx = x; this.newy = y; this.id = id; width = 75; height = 75; r = new Rectangle(x,y,width,height); } public void tick() { r = new Rectangle(x,y,width,height); if(!dragged){ x = newx; y = newy; } } public void render(Graphics g) { ImageIcon i2 = new ImageIcon("res/ingrediants/hagleave.png"); img = i2.getImage(); g.drawImage(img, x, y, null); g.setColor(Color.red); g.drawRect(r.x, r.y, r.width, r.height); } } The arraylist is in a class called ingrediantManager: public class IngrediantsManager { public ArrayList<Ingrediant> ing = new ArrayList<Ingrediant>(); public IngrediantsManager(){ ing.add(new HagLeave(100,200,1)); ing.add(new PigHair(70,300,2)); ing.add(new GiantsToe(100,400,3)); } public void tick(){ for(int i = 0; i < ing.toArray().length; i ++){ ing.get(i).tick(); if(ing.get(i).removed){ ing.remove(i); i--; } } } public void render(Graphics g){ for(int i = 0; i < ing.toArray().length; i ++){ ing.get(i).render(g); } } }

  • Bring a subview to the top on mouseDown: AND keep receiving events (for dragging)

    - by d11wtq
    Ok, basically I have a view with a series of slightly overlapping subviews. When a subview is clicked, it moves to the top (among other things), by a really simple two-liner: -(void)mouseDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent { if (_selected) { // Don't do anything this subview is already in the foreground return; } NSView *superview = [self superview]; [self removeFromSuperview]; [superview addSubview:self position:NSWindowAbove relativeTo:nil]; } This works fine and seems to be the "normal" way to do this. The problem is that I'm now introducing some drag logic to the view, so I need to respond to -mouseDragged:. Unfortunately, since the view is removed from the view hierarchy and re-added in the process, I can have the view come to the foreground and be dragged in the same mouse action. It only drags if I leave go of the mouse and click on the view again, since the second click doesn't do any view hierarchy juggling. Is there anything I can do that will allow the view to move to the foreground like this, AND continue to receive the subsequent -mouseDragged: and -mouseUp: events that follow? I started along the lines of thinking of overriding -hitTest: in the superview and intercepting the mouseDown event in order to bring the view to the foreground before it actually receives the event. The problem here is, from within -hitTest:, how do I distinguish what type of event I'm actually performing the hit test for? I wouldn't want to move the subview to the foreground for other mouse events, such as mouseMoved etc.

  • MouseMotion Sensor Method Call

    - by user321894
    I have a soon-to-be due assignment due in computer science. I have encountered a problem, for which no matter how long I study the API's of the class and superclasses, I can not figure out. Suppose I wish to design a sort of "Breakout game" where the mouse motion controls the motion of a block that is used to bounce a ball, which then destroys multi colored bricks. How do you specifically make the block "listen" to the mouse? The below code is what I have attempted to achieve the desired results. /** Breakout Program*/ public class Breakout extends GraphicsProgram implements MouseMotionListener { ... /** The Paddle Itself */ private GRect paddle = new GRect(0, HEIGHT-PADDLEBOTTOM_OFFSET, PADDLEWIDTH, PADDLEHEIGHT); ... /** Run the Breakout program. */ public void run() { paddle.setFillColor(Color.BLACK); paddle.setFilled(true); add(paddle); paddle.addMouseListener(this); ... } /** Move the horizontal middle of the paddle to the x-coordinate of the mouse position - * -but keep the paddle completely on the board. */ public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) { GPoint p= new GPoint(e.getPoint()); double x = p.getX(); paddle.setLocation(x, HEIGHT-PADDLEBOTTOM_OFFSET); } } Any clarification on why/what I am doing incorrectly would be helpful, thanks.

  • Help creating a JavaScript mixin in Tapestry5?

    - by shane87
    I am creating a mixin which renders a javascript file when a textfield gains focus. I am new to the idea of mixins in Tapestry, and I am unsure of where to place my original javascript file which i wish to run when the textfield gains focus. The following is an example of my code: The Java mixin class: package asc.mixins; import org.apache.tapestry5.RenderSupport; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.AfterRender; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.Environmental; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.IncludeJavaScriptLibrary; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.InjectContainer; import org.apache.tapestry5.corelib.base.AbstractTextField; @IncludeJavaScriptLibrary("js_dasher_mixin.js") public class DasherMixin { @Environmental private RenderSupport renderSupport; @InjectContainer private AbstractTextField field; @AfterRender void addScript() { this.renderSupport.addScript("new JSDasher('%s');", this.field.getClientId()); } } The Javascript mixin file: JSDasher = Class.create({ initialize: function(textField) { this.textField = $(textField); this.textField.observe('focus', this.onFocus.bindAsEventListener(this)); }, onFocus: function(event) { //call my javascript init() function } } part of my javascript file I wish to run when the textfield gains focus: var posX, posY; // Sets up our global variables and dispatches an init request to the server. function init() { posX=0; posY=0; canvas = document.getElementById("canvas"); canvasWidth = canvas.offsetWidth; canvasHeight = canvas.offsetHeight; if (canvas.getContext) { ctx = canvas.getContext("2d"); } canvas.onclick = canvasClicked; canvas.onmousemove = mouseMoved; canvasOffsetX = findPosX(canvas); canvasOffsetY = findPosY(canvas); sessID = -1; sendInitRQ(canvasWidth, canvasHeight); } My javascript file is much larger than above, my question is where should I put my javascript code above? Should it all be contained in the mixin.js file? if so where exactly should it go? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for any help given.

  • Joystick input in Java

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I am making a 2D game in Java and I want to use a joystick to control the movement of some crosshairs. Right now I have it so the mouse can control those crosshairs. My only criteria for this is that the control for the crosshair must stay in the game window unless a user clicks off into another window. Basically I want my game to capture whatever device is controlling the crosshairs much like a virtual machine captures a mouse. The joystick I am using (Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar) comes with some pretty advanced features, so that may make this easier (or harder). I have tried the solution listed on this page, but I am using a 64bit computer and for some reason it does not like that. • Cocoa nextEventMatchingMask not receiving NSMouseMoved event

    - by Jonny
    Hello, I created a local event loop and showed up a borderless window (derived from NSPanel), I found in the event loop there's no NSMouseMoved event received, although I can receive Mouse button down/up events. What should I do to get the NSMouseMoved events? I found making the float window as key window can receive the NSMouseMoved events, but I don't want to change key window. And it appears this is possible, because I found after clicking the test App Icon in System Dock Bar, I can receive the mousemoved events, and the key window/mainwindow are unchanged. Here's the my test code: (Create a Cocoa App project names FloatWindowTest, and put a button to link it with the onClick: IBAction). • java/Swing issue with paintComponent

    - by user310254
    The issue I'm having is issue with is I'm trying to get the paintComponent to draw the circle only when the mouse is clicked, dragged, then let go. However inside my paintPanel class I have to initialize the object I've created (ex. movedCircle myCircle = new movedCircle(0,0,0,0);) just creating the object movedCircle myCircle; gives an error until I actually fully initialize the object with a value. What I'm looking for: What's considered the best practice for this issue. I don't want to draw anything unnecessary before it is needed. The way I know how to fix it: boolean values inside of paintComponent so that way it doesn't draw until somethings actually there. import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class drawCircle extends JFrame{ private JPanel myPanel = new paintPanel(); public drawCircle(){ add(myPanel); } private class paintPanel extends JPanel{ private int x1, y1, x2, y2; movedText myText = new movedText(0,0,0,0); movedCircle myCircle = new movedCircle(0,0,0,0); public paintPanel(){ addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter(){ public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e){ x1 = e.getX(); y1 = e.getY(); myCircle = new movedCircle(x1, y1, 0, 0); repaint(); } public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e){ x2 = e.getX(); y2 = e.getY(); myCircle = new movedCircle(x1, y1, x2, y2); repaint(); } }); addMouseMotionListener(new MouseMotionAdapter(){ public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e){ x2 = e.getX(); y2 = e.getY(); myText = new movedText(x1, y1, x2, y2); myCircle = new movedCircle(x1, y1, x2, y2); repaint(); } public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e){ x1 = e.getX(); y1 = e.getY(); x2 = 0; y2 = 0; myText = new movedText(x1, y1, x2, y2); repaint(); } }); } protected void paintComponent(Graphics g){ super.paintComponent(g); //draw oval after mouse released myText.paintText(g); myCircle.paintCircle(g); } } class movedCircle{ private int x1, y1, x2, y2; public movedCircle(int x1, int y1, int x2, int y2){ this.x1 = x1; this.y1 = y1; this.x2 = x2; this.y2 = y2; } public void paintCircle(Graphics g){ g.drawOval(x1, y1, x2 - x1, y2 - y1); } } class movedText{ private int x1, y1, x2, y2; public movedText(int x1, int y1, int x2, int y2){ this.x1 = x1; this.y1 = y1; this.x2 = x2; this.y2 = y2; } public void paintText(Graphics g){ g.drawString("x1: "+x1+" y1: "+y1+" x2: "+x2+" y2: "+y2, x1, y1); } } class RedSquare{ private int xPos = 50; private int yPos = 50; private int width = 20; private int height = 20; public void setX(int xPos){ this.xPos = xPos; } public int getX(){ return xPos; } public void setY(int yPos){ this.yPos = yPos; } public int getY(){ return yPos; } public int getWidth(){ return width; } public int getHeight(){ return height; } public void paintSquare(Graphics g){ g.setColor(Color.RED); g.fillRect(xPos,yPos,width,height); g.setColor(Color.BLACK); g.drawRect(xPos,yPos,width,height); } } public static void main(String[] args){ JFrame frame = new drawCircle(); frame.setTitle("Is in ellipse?   • Problem with JOGL and Framebuffer Render-to-texture: Invalid Framebuffer Operation Error

    - by quadelirus
    Okay, so I am trying to render a scene to a small 32x32 texture and ran into problems. I get an "invalid framebuffer operation" error when I try to actually draw anything to the texture. I have simplified the code below so that it simply tries to render a quad to a texture and then bind that quad as a texture for another quad that is rendered to the screen. So my question is this... where is the error? This is using JOGL 1.1.1. The error occurs at Checkpoint2 in the code. import java.awt.event.*; import javax.media.opengl.*; import javax.media.opengl.glu.*; import javax.swing.JFrame; import java.nio.*; public class Main extends JFrame implements GLEventListener, KeyListener, MouseListener, MouseMotionListener, ActionListener{ /* GL related variables */ private final GLCanvas canvas; • Problem with my whiteboard application

    I have to develop a whiteboard application in which both the local user and the remote user should be able to draw simultaneously, is this possible? If possible then any logic? I have already developed a code but in which i am not able to do this, when the remote user starts drawing the shape which i am drawing is being replaced by his shape and co-ordinates.
