  • [objc_getClass("PLCameraController") sharedInstance] always returns nil in iPhone

    - by paul simmons
I am trying to apply Mike Chen's answer here, using SDK 3.0. In delegate.m file I implement; [viewController.view addSubview:[[objc_getClass("PLCameraController") sharedInstance] previewView]]; and in viewcontroller.m I implement: PLCameraController *cam = [objc_getClass("PLCameraController") sharedInstance]; CapturedImage = [cam _createPreviewImage]; but 'cam' is always nil. Any suggestions?

  • [self autorelease] not doing dealloc

    - by jonydep
i have this in the superview: mySubView = [[MySubView alloc] init]; [self addSubview:mySubView]; [mySubView release]; then at some point later, in the sub view, this: [self removeFromSuperview]; when i debug it, i notice that the dealloc for the subview is never called, even though i'm fairly sure the reference count should be 0. any ideas why this might be? thanks.

  • Popping UIView crashes app

    - by Adun
I'm basically pushing a UIView from a UITableViewController and all it contains is a UIWebView. However when I remove the UIView to return back to the UITableView the app crashes. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. if (indexPath.row == websiteCell) { NSString *urlPath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://%@", exhibitor.website]; WebViewController *webViewController = [[WebViewController alloc] initWithURLString:urlPath]; // Pass the selected object to the new view controller. [self.parentViewController presentModalViewController:webViewController animated:YES]; [webViewController release]; } } If I comment out the [webViewController release] the app doesn't crash, but I know that this would be a leak. Below is the code for the Web Browser: #import "WebViewController.h" @implementation WebViewController @synthesize webBrowserView; @synthesize urlValue; @synthesize toolBar; @synthesize spinner; @synthesize loadUrl; -(id)initWithURLString:(NSString *)urlString { if (self = [super init]) { urlValue = urlString; } return self; } #pragma mark WebView Controls - (void)goBack { [webBrowserView goBack]; } - (void)goForward { [webBrowserView goForward]; } - (void)reload { [webBrowserView reload]; } - (void)closeBrowser { [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } #pragma end // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; CGRect contentRect = self.view.bounds; //NSLog(@"%f", contentRect.size.height); float webViewHeight = contentRect.size.height - 44.0f; // navBar = 44 float toolBarHeight = contentRect.size.height - webViewHeight; • Obj-C memory management: why doesn't this work?

    - by igul222
Why doesn't the following code work? MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; [myWindow addSubview:viewController.view]; [viewController release]; As I understand, myWindow should be retaining viewController.view for as long as the window needs it. So why does this cause my app to crash on launch? (commenting out the last line fixes the problem, as expected)

hi guys i have a simple app, it consist of 2 textview, 1 uiview as a coretext subclass, and then 1 scrollview. the others part is subviews from scrollview. I have to change the frame of scrollview when keyboard appear, but it still not help. • iPhone memory management

    - by Prazi
I am newbie to iPhone programming. I am not using Interface Builder in my programming. I have some doubt about memory management, @property topics in iPhone. Consider the following code @interface LoadFlag : UIViewController { UIImage *flag; UIImageView *preview; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImageView *preview; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImage *flag; @implementation @synthesize preview; @synthesize flag; - (void)viewDidLoad { flag = [UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; NSLog(@"Preview: %d\n",[preview retainCount]); //Count: 0 but shouldn't it be 1 as I am retaining it in @property in interface file preview=[[UIImageView alloc]init]; NSLog(@"Count: %d\n",[preview retainCount]); //Count: 1 preview.frame=CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f); preview.image = flag; [self.view addSubview:preview]; NSLog(@"Count: %d\n",[preview retainCount]); //Count: 2 [preview release]; NSLog(@"Count: %d\n",[preview retainCount]); //Count: 1 } When & Why(what is the need) do I have to set @property with retain (in above case for UIImage & UIImageView) ? I saw this statement in many sample programs but didn't understood the need of it. When I declare @property (nonatomic, retain) UIImageView *preview; statement the retain Count is 0. Why doesn't it increase by 1 inspite of retaining it in @property. Also when I declare [self.view addSubview:preview]; then retain Count increments by 1 again. In this case does the "Autorelease pool" releases for us later or we have to take care of releasing it. I am not sure but I think that the Autorelease should handle it as we didn't explicitly retained it so why should we worry of releasing it. Now, after the [preview release]; statement my count is 1. Now I don't need UIImageView anymore in my program so when and where should I release it so that the count becomes 0 and the memory gets deallocated. Again, I am not sure but I think that the Autorelease should handle it as we didn't explicitly retained it so why should we worry of releasing it. What will happen if I release it in -(void) dealloc method In the statement - flag = [UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; I haven't allocated any memory to flag but how can I still use it in my program. In this case if I do not allocate memory then who allocates & deallocates memory to it or is the "flag" just a reference pointing to - [UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]];. If it is a reference only then do i need to release it. Thanks in advance.

  • Add subview to another view

    - by Martol1ni
With two ViewControllers, MyView 1 and MyView 2, is there possible to add a subview to MyView2 from MyView1.m? I have tried: MyView2 * screen = [[MyView2 alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; [screen.view addSubView:mySubView]; But my new instance of MyView 2 has no connection to the 'visible' ViewController on MyView2, right? To clarify, the ViewController that is showing, is MyView1. I want MyView1 to be able to add a subview to the MyView2 view. Thanks

I have set the size of the tableView that I show as the popoverController as 4*rowheight. And I am using 12cells in the tableView. Each cell contains an image and a label. I can see all the cells by scrolling. Upto 5th cell its ok. After th2 5th cell, the label and the image that I am using in the first four cells are being repeated for the remaining cells. And If I select the cell, the result is accurately shown. But when I again take the tableView, the image and labels are not accurate even for the first 5 cells. All are changed but the selection is giving the correct result. • Sub-viewController doesn't get autorotation notifications, bug?

    - by Shizam
If I have a view (and its controller) and I override the willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method so I can respond to autorotation events everything works fine and dandy. Now if I create another viewController and add its view to the first viewController's view via: [firstViewController.view addSubview:secondViewController.view] The secondViewController's willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method isn't called. What gives? Thanks, Sam
