  Hi all, Using Wix3, its trivial to ensure that a windows service being installed is given a dependency on a service that is already installed on the target machine, but I need to do the opposite - i.e. as part of my install I need to modify the service dependencies of an existing service (i.e. already installed on the target machine), to ensure that that service is dependent on the service I am installing. Is there a simple way to do this using WiX? or will I need to write a custom action? Many thanks, Paul

• gcc linking shared libraries with dependent libraries

  I have a complicated project with multiple executable targets and multiple shared libraries. The shared libraries currently don't have their dependent shared libraries linked in, and the result is that linker arguments to build the executables are hideously long and hard to maintain. I'd like to add in the dependencies so the Makefiles become much cleaner. I want to add the following (example): gcc -shared -o libshared.so -lshared_dependent1 -lshared_dependent2 objfile1.o objfile2.o Is there a way to test if all the symbols in libshared.so will resolve based on that line? Is there a way to print out if any of the shared_dependent libraries specified were unnecessary? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I have an issue when reading properties from a dependent project. I have a core project, and my application has a dependency on it. under classpath of core, it has file core.properties. and my application need to read this property file, but it couldn't. It requires the core.properties in my classpath of my application, instead of core. Is there an solution for that? One solution in my mind is that when I build my application.war, can I explictly declare that I want the core dependency be exploded? Thanks for help!

  Is it possible to do regressions in R using a panel data set with a binary dependent variable? I am familiar with using glm for logit and probit and plm for panel data, but am not sure how to combine the two. Are there any existing code examples? Thank you. EDIT It would also be helpful if I could figure out how to extract the matrix that plm() is using when it does a regression. For instance, you could use plm to do fixed effects, or you could create a matrix with the appropriate dummy variables and then run that through glm(). In a case like this, however, it is annoying to generate the dummies yourself and it would be easier to have plm do it for you. Abiel

  After working a bit with EPOC EMOTIV, i suspect that its cognitive suite is user dependent, though its other suites are not and work absolutely well in all cases. It's use in cognitive area is wide and many such applications have also been developed. BCI CAD 3D geometry shapes are also a good example. But the main issue i want to highlight is that is it's cognitive suite depends on a particular set of data( same set always). I want to work more deeper with cognitive suite so any help(suggestions, research papers, EEG data processing), anything which can be a great source to deal with. Thanks!

  I was trying to implement the Ajax method for deploying dependent drop down select boxes inside Joomla. The Problem is that if you call an ajaxRequest to run a php with the query that populates the second drop down depending on the result of the first, this is out of the joomla framework and you can't use anything from the joomla functions. So I need to copy into the new file all the details of my dbase login + to write down the html+php to populate the options. I was thinking whether there is an easier solution to this problem. Maybe the Joomla framework supports something like this. Any ideas?

  I download PetStore 2.0 from https://blueprints.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=5315&expandFolder=5315&folderID=0. I tried to build them in netbean 6.8 and I got this error SEVERE: Exception while preparing the app java.lang.RuntimeException: javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup failed for 'jdbc/PetstoreDB' in SerialContext [Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: PetstoreDB not found] Seems like it cant find 'jdbc/PetStoreDB'. So I went back to the website and it look like I have to build the database via Ant script. So at the PetStore home directory, I run this command ant setup ant run And I got the same error when I try ant run [exec] Deprecated syntax, instead use: [exec] asadmin --port 4848 --host localhost --passwordfile /Users/KingdomHeart/.asadminpass --user admin deploy [options] ...   Hi all I have this scenario I want to build two sharepoint 2007 sites. One for customers info and the other for products and customers orders. Now the problem is that in the second site I need to reference the customers info from the first site but unfortunately sharepoint doesnot provide out of the box cross-site lookup. I did some search and found custom cross-site fields and used one but when I upgraded the site to sharepoint 2010 this custom field was not compatible and the upgrade wizard said it could not be upgraded. so what is the solution for this ? is it to merge the two sites so that I can use the standard lookup feature or is there any workaround for this ? please if any body has faced such a scenario, share the solution with me ? thanks

Even then in about 30 uses, the error resurfaces and I have to rectify it !. As of now, I am able to work fine ! the rectification just takes about 30 seconds.   I look after a number of divisional websites for a uk based membership organisation and what we want to do is provide, as well as other address functions, is a closest member lookup to a web user from the websites themselves. A few use cases that I want to fill: Case 1: The user puts in their post code and wants to see all the members in a 5/10/15/20/30/40 mile radius from them Case 2: The member puts in an area (city, county, etc.) and gets a list of members in that area. Essentially what I'm looking for is a programmable API which I can code against to do: post code lookup and returns addresses (after picking house number for example). search post code + radius (5miles, 10miles etc) and get a set of applicable post codes to then join onto the membership records in the database Any recommendations? It can be a quarterly update install on the server, it can be a queryable web service. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance

I'm trying to get to the root cause of the problem but in the mean time I'd like to be able to monitor whether the server can perform lookups. Basically, it should attempt to lookup some common hostnames and the display 'Success' if the lookups are successful. I see lots of examples of doing this with third party components in ASP but I would prefer to be able to do this with a single ASP / ASP.Net script that would be portable and not require anything additional be installed.

  I'm running this out of the VS 2008 debugger on Windows 7, running .Net 3.5. The idea was to make all ajax requests with jQuery only, rather than .net, following some tutorials online. Default.aspx - HTML page, jquery triggers method in Default.aspx.cs http://pastebin.com/pxBvKA2H Default.aspx.cs - C# Webform, just defines a GetDate fuction, which only returns a string for now (trying to eliminate any possible issues) (can only post one hyperlink...) pastebin.com/pnHn50hu The ajax query takes longer than it should. Profiling with firebug revealed that it took 1.03 ms. 1s DNS Lookup | 26ms Waiting | 1ms Receiving EDIT: It continues to take the same set of times if you continue to click and resubmit the request. Is there anything I can do to cut down on the DNS Lookup time / what did I do wrong? Thanks for any help.

  Hey guys, -- I just parsed a big file and I created a list containing 42.000 strings/words. I want to query [against this list] to check if a given word/string belongs to it. So my question is: What is the most efficient way for such a lookup? A first approach is to sort the list [list.sort()] and then just use the if word in list: print 'word' -- which is really trivial and I am sure there is a better way to do it. My goal is to apply a fast lookup that finds whether a given string is in this list or not. If you have any ideas of another data structure, they are welcome. Yet, I want to avoid for now more sophisticated data-structures like Tries etc. I am interested in hearing ideas (or tricks) about fast lookups or any other python library methods that might do the search faster than the simple 'in'. • How To Boot with "mem=1024m" Argument using GRUB - Ubuntu 10.04

  I am still working on this question. This new one is a different question so I thought it would be good to post a new question. Is this the proper protocol or should I have just edited the other question? I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with the kernel 2.6.32-22-generic on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. When I enter the GRUB menu (I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed as well), I can choose which kernel to boot. I use scroll down to the one I want and press "e" and I expect to be able to enter mem=1024m and force the kernel to use this much memory. But when I run cat /proc/meminfo or look in the process manager after booting wth this argument I still see all the RAM: ~2 GB. Am I using this boot argument incorrectly? The boot configuration (before I add anything) looks like this: insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 10270f21-1c42-494b-bd3f-813c23f6d\ 518 linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-22-generic root=UUID=10270f21-1c42-494b-b\ d3f-813c23f6d518 ro quiet splash initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-22-generic The way I did this was that I added the mem=1024m after the last line and pressed Ctrl+x (Emacs save and boot the kernel) and the system booted. I tried adding mem=1024m to the end and the beginning of this list and it appeared to not change the RAM allocation.

If the site like dgdfgdfgdfg.com is entered its talking too long to resolve. in some instance like 20 sec.(mostly for non-existent sites) Because it cause the application to slowdown. So i though of introducing a timeout period for the dns lookup.   Hi, I made the upgrade to SP2. I'm trying to use the Lookup function to link data from two different servers. I'm trying first a simple exercise linking data from two datasets from the same server, having one dataset with journals and the other with the account description. My Expression looks like this at a field on the table I have: =Lookup(Fields!ACTINDX.Value,Fields!ACTINDX.Value,Fields!ACTDESCR.Value,"ACCTINFO") I made sure of the names and using only uppercases for datasets and fields but I'm receiving the following message when I try to preview: "An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report '/DETAIL' is invalid. The Value expression for the text box 'ACTINDX' refers to the field 'ACTDESCR'. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope". I'll appreciate any suggestions. Regards, Al
