  • Tool to check if XML is valid in my VS2012 comments

    I am writing the documentation for our companies software developed with vs2012. I need to add xml examples to the summary of each class, due to xml instantiation of objects. We are using sandcastle to create the documentation (company choice), and I want to be able to review my xml comments without building the help file every time. Is there an application that anyone would recommend where I can view how the xml renders before I build the help file? Here is my example: /// <summary> /// Performs DFT on a data array, writes output in a CSV file. /// </summary> /// <example> /// <para>XML declaration</para> /// <code lang="xml" xml:space="preserve"> /// %lt;DataProvider name="DftDP" description="Computes DFT" etc...   • C++ Style Comments for Microsoft Word 2008?

    Hello, I would like to be able use some sort of C++ style commenting for Microsoft Word. E.g. If I have // line of text the entire line should be a comment and should appear in a different colour. Same goes for: /* text block */ I would want text block to be in a different colour than my main text. Another feature that would be nice but not necessary for me to have is some sort of a way to quickly strip all the comments. I have no idea how this could be done, if possible. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Abbreviations override in comments and quoted text

    I have the following handy abbreviation in VIM: iab for for<Space>(<Space>{{<Esc>kA<Left><Left><Left><Left><C-R>=Eatchar('\s')<CR> This nicely replaces for with the following text: for ( ) { } However, I would like this abbreviation to work only in code, not in comments or in single- or double- quoted strings. How might this constraint be accomplished? Note that I usually code in PHP, but often enough I find myself in other C-style languages (C, Java, occasional C#, etc.). Preventing the abbreviation from working in Python would be a nice bonus though I don't mind manually turning it off in Python if that is not an option. Thanks!

  • Fixing fill-paragraph with comments in Emacs 23.2.1

    I just upgraded to emacs 23.2.1 when I finally upgraded to ubuntu 10.10, but the first thing I noticed is that fill-paragraph (M-q) doesnt work nicely with comments anymore or at least do not work the way they did in emacs 23.1.? that I had before the upgrade. The main issue is that if I have a commented line such as //This is a long comment to illustrate an issue I have with emacs lorem ipsum and then do fill-paragraph (M-q) afterwards, I get //This is a long comment to illustrate an issue I have with emacs lorem ipsum whereas I should get //This is a long comment to illustrate an issue I have with //emacs lorem ipsum I've killed my .emacs file to try and narrow down where the issue is popping up, but this still pops up even in vanilla emacs.

  • Add Comment and Reaction Count in Wordpress with Disqus plugin

    Okay I'm trying to add comments and reactions count just like what you would normally see on some wordpress blogs like http://johntwang.com/blog/ where on the left top of each post there is ** comment and * reactions* My problem is I can't find the disqus's documentation, where hopefully there is some method I can call to return me the number of reactions and comments. Also if I use the wordpress default method <?php comments_popup_link ('zero','one','more','CSSclass','none');?> it only displays "Comments" not even the comment's number count on the main page. How can I add reaction and comment count with disqus plugin ? edit: well my site is http://www.windows7hacker.com/ I don't know how I suppose to add comments count at first place. But right now if I use the wordpress method, it will return me only comments, which is exactlly one of the problem they have described in their help page I've tired to check the comment count option still doesn't work :(

  • Windows 7 comments field missing when browsing network

    I have just purchased three Windows 7 Professional Dell 64-bit PCs for testing prior to upgrading our company’s 120+ PCs from Windows XP Professional. The setup is a standard domain with a Windows Server 2003 32-bit server. We name each PC XP1 to XP150 so that when users join or leave, I don’t have to rename the PC. We use the Description field to allocate the user’s name to each PC. We also have a share set up on each PC using the user’s name. When I browse the network using Windows Explorer in XP, I get a useful display. The left pane showing the PC number and the right pane showing NAME and COMMENTS So, for example I would see: XP01 Fred Bloggs (Each PC on a new row.) The right pane is my main tool for administering the network. I can easily see the PC number and the name of the user. However, in Windows 7, this seems to have been thrown out of the window and replaced with fields that I do not need and in my case always display the same info. "Name", "Category", "Workgroup", "Network Location" In my case the Name column gives the PC number (XP10) etc and all three other columns display identical useless information. So I can’t see who is using XP10. When I am in “help desk” mode, I would naturally ask the user’s name and use my remote desktop client to view their screen. The user isn’t aware of their PC name, so I am finding it impossible to match the user name with a PC number. Any ideas how to overcome this "by design" change to Windows 7?

    Hi, My textmate suddenly stopped recognizing comments in code and the shortcut for commenting out code (Command + /). I have found Comments in the Bundle Editor for HTML, but it doesn't look like I can set an activation key for it or anything. Does anyone have any experience with this part of TextMate? cheers!

    Hi, strangely , lately when I'm trying to retrieve comments with the old facebook api I can get only the latest 50. And I didnt see any paging option there. And it doesnt matter if I use stream.getcomments or directly FQL . The weird thing is that using the same fql with the new api gives me all the comments. got a clue?

So I would be able to see the stream of incoming revisions and mark which of them I already reviewed.     I am having comment reply (only till one level) functionality. All comments can have as many as replies but no replies can have their further replies. So my database table structure is like below Id ParentId Comment 1 0 this is come sample comment text 2 0 this is come sample comment text 3 0 this is come sample comment text 4 1 this is come sample comment text 5 0 this is come sample comment text 6 3 this is come sample comment text 7 1 this is come sample comment text In the above structures, commentid, 1 (has 2 replies) and 3 (1 reply) has replies. So to fetch the comments and their replies, one simple method is first I fetch all the comments having ParentId as 0 and then by running a while loop fetch all the replies of that particular commentId. But that seems to be running hundreds of queries if I'll have around 200 comments on a particular record. So I want to make a query which will fetch Comments with their replies sequentially as following; Id ParentId Comment 1 0 this is come sample comment text 4 1 this is come sample comment text 7 1 this is come sample comment text 2 0 this is come sample comment text 3 0 this is come sample comment text 6 3 this is come sample comment text 5 0 this is come sample comment text I also have a comment date column in my comment table, if anyone wants to use this with comment query. So finally I want to fetch all the comments and their replies by using one single mysql query. Please tell me how I can do that? Thanks

    Hey guys I have one more question lol. I am using a script that allows users to submit comments through jquery ajax, however when they are submitted, the submitted comments submit at the bottom of the other comments which are sorted in descending order (newest on top) when the page first loads (due to mysql query).   • Unobtrusive, self-hosted comments function to put onto existing web pages

    I am building a new site which will consist of a mix of dynamic and static pages. I would like to add commenting functionality to those pages with as little work as possible. I'm curious as to whether such a solution exists in PHP. The ideal set of features would be: Completely independent from the surrounding page / site: PHP code gets dropped into page, a page ID is added, done. Simple "write a comment" form Comments for each page are displayed using a PHP function Nice, clean output of <ul><li>.... that can be styled by the surrounding site Optional Captcha Optional Gravatar sensitivity Minimalistic administration area to moderate/delete comments, no ACL, can protect it using .htaccess The ideal integreation would be like this: <?php show_comments("my_page_name"); ?> this would 1. display a form to add a new comment that gets automatically associtated with my_page_name; and 2. display all comments that were made through this form using this ID. Does anybody know a solution like this? Bounty I am setting up a bounty because while there were some good suggestions, they all point to external services. I'm really curious to see whether there isn't anything self-hosted around. If this doesn't exist yet, it sure would be great to see as an Open Source project.

  • Rails - embedded polymorphic comment list + add comment form - example?

    Hey, all. Working on my first Rails app. I've searched all around - read a bunch of tutorials, articles, and forum posts, watched some screencasts, and I've found a few examples that come close to what I'm trying to do (notably http://railscasts.com/episodes/154-polymorphic-association and ep 196 about nested model forms), but not exactly. I have two models (Podcast and BlogPost) that need to be commentable, and I have a Comment model that is polymorphically related to both. The railscasts above had a very similar example (ep 154), but Ryan used a full set of nested routes, so there were specific templates for adding and editing comments. What I want to do is show the list of comments right on the Podcast or BlogPost page, along with an Add Comment form at the bottom. I don't need a separate add template/route, and I don't need the ability to edit, only delete. This is a pretty common design on the web, but I can't find a Rails example specifically about this pattern. Here's my current understanding: I need routes for the create and delete actions, of course, but there are no templates associated with those. I'm also guessing that the right approach is to create a partial that can be included at the bottom of both the Podcast and BlogPost show template. The logical name for the partial seems to me to be something like _comments.html.haml. I know it's a common convention to have the object passed to the partial be named after the template, but calling the object 'comments' seems to not match my use case, since what I really need to pass is the commentable object (Podcast or BlogPost). So, I guess I'd use the locals option for the render partial call? (:commentable = @podcast). Inside the partial, I could call commentable.comments to get the comments collection, render that with a second partial (this time with the conventional use case, calling the partial _comment.html.haml), then create a form that submits to... what? REST-wise, it should be a POST to the collection, which would be /podcast|blogpost/:id/comments, and I think the helper for that is podcast_comments_path(podcast) if it were a podcast - not sure what to do though, since I'm using polymorphic comments. That would trigger the Comment.create action, which would then need to redirect back to the podcast|blogpost path /podcast|blogpost/:id. It's all a bit overwhelming, which is why I was really hoping to find a screencast or example that specifically implements this design.
