  • How to include space in drive label using command-line MS format?

    - by Leif Carlsen
    The obvious-to-me approaches fail. # format h: /fs:ntfs /q /y /V:512MB Disk Invalid parameter - Disk # format h: /fs:ntfs /q /y /V:"512MB Disk" Invalid parameter - Disk" # format h: /fs:ntfs /q /y /V:"512MB\ Disk" Invalid parameter - Disk" # format h: /fs:ntfs /q /y /V:512MB\ Disk Invalid parameter - Disk Okay, so label works after-the fact. # label h: 512MB Disk # But how to do it using format? Am I missing some kind of escape sequence?

  • Log "date -s" command

    - by LinuxPenseur
Hi, I know that the date -s <STRING> command sets the time described by the string STRING. What i want is to log the above command whenever it is used to set the time into the file /tmp/log/user.log. In my Linux distribution the logging is done by syslog-ng. I already have some logs going into /tmp/log/user.log. This is the content of /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf in my system for logging into /tmp/log/user.log destination d_notice { file("/tmp/log/user.log");}; filter f_filter10 { level(notice) and not facility(mail, authpriv, cron); }; log { source(s_sys); filter(f_filter10); destination(d_notice); }; What should i do so that date -s command is also logged into /tmp/log/user.log

  • Vista: "Change date and time" causes permissions error

    - by alexsome
I double-click on the time in the bottom right to open the date and time panel. Then I click on the "Change date and time..." button (which has a shield) and I get the UAC dialog. I click "Continue", then am presented with an error that reads: Unable to continue You do not have permission to perform this task. Please contact your computer administrator for help. I will mention I have Comodo installed, but I have turned it off to test this out and I get the same results. All that I've found while googling were suggestions to turn UAC off, but I am interested in learning what the actual problem is. Thanks in advance.

  • Parsing JPEG file format: Format of entropy-coded segments (ECS) ?

    - by me2
I'm having difficulty understanding the ITU-T T.81 spec for the JPEG file format. Hopefully someone else here has tried to parse JPEG files and/or knows about the details of this file format. The spec indiates that the ECS0 segment starts after the SOS segment but I can't find where in the spec it actually talks about the format of the ECS0 segment or how do detect its start. Simple JPEG implementations online are of limited help because they assume many things about the JPEGs they parse. Can anyone point me in the right direction? FYI: The JPEG file format spec is here.

    - by CL4NCY
Hi, I have a table of Prices with a start date, end date and price. I want a search to pass in a date range and return whether a price exists for all days in that range. The date range can span multiple prices, just not have any gaps in between. Is this possible? • Human readable and parsable date format in Java.

    - by Savvas Dalkitsis
I want to save a Date object to a readable string (for example 22/10/2009 21:13:14) that is also parsable back to a Date object. I have tried many things and the best I could find was to use DateFormater for parsing and formating but it has a setback. When you format a date you lose seconds information. I tried to find if there is an option to format it and display the seconds (even better would be to the millisecond level since that's the resolution the Date object allows you to have) but I came up short. Any ideas?

  • Date format strings in .Net and Java

    - by mizipzor
I have an application that runs on both C# .Net and Java. Two entirely separate but identical code bases. The problem Im having is formatting date and numbers. For example: A user running the .Net variant is inputting a date and a format string. The 26th of April 1986 is formatted 1986-04-26. The actual date, along with the format string, is serialized to an XML file. Later another user running the Java variant opens said XML file and looks at the date. I want them to look the same. Whats the best approach here? There doesnt seem to be a one-to-one mapping between Java and .Nets format strings. Should I limit the possible formats to a selection I know I can represent fully in both .Net and Java?

  • php date() function displaying wrong time

    - by ladaghini
I'm building a site with wordpress, and when I use the date() function on an otherwise empty file, it shows the right date. However, if I use it in a file that includes other wordpress files, the time is displayed as GMT time, so the date is off. If anyone can figure out how I can use date function without interruption from the wordpress methods, I'd appreciated it.

  • Set the current date in PHP

    - by Rowan
I'm currently working on my company's in-house CMS and wish to add the ability for an admin to view the site on a specific date. This will allow admins to preview the site with archived or scheduled posts. I'd like to avoid finding all mentions of date() or time() and offsetting them. Is there a way of making PHP think it's a specific date so that all calls to date() default to the new time? Thank you

  • Set date format in ruby model (sinatra/datamapper)

    - by Gearóid
Hi, I have a ruby model that contains a date attribue which I'd like to be able to pass in as a parameter in the format dd/MM/yyyy. However, my sqlite3 db stores the data in yyyy-MM-dd format so when a date like 20/10/2010 gets passed in, it will not be read to the database. I am using the Sinatra framework and using haml for the markup creation. Do I need to write a helper that takes the date string and converts it to the correct format for the db? Or can I set a format type on the models attribute? Thanks.

Now how can I see if the date I assigned to an event is between today and the date that is 10 days from today?

  • convert variable with mixed date formats to one format in r

    - by jalapic
    A sample of my dataframe: date 1 25 February 1987 2 20 August 1974 3 9 October 1984 4 18 August 1992 5 19 September 1995 6 16-Oct-63 7 30-Sep-65 8 22 Jan 2008 9 13-11-1961 10 18 August 1987 11 15-Sep-70 12 5 October 1994 13 5 December 1984 14 03/23/87 15 30 August 1988 16 26-10-1993 17 22 August 1989 18 13-Sep-97 I have a large dataframe with a date variable that has multiple formats for dates. Most of the formats in the variable are shown above- there are a couple of very rare others too. The reason why there are multiple formats is that the data were pulled together from various websites that each used different formats. I have tried using straightforward conversions e.g. strftime(mydf$date,"%d/%m/%Y") but these sorts of conversion will not work if there are multiple formats. I don't want to resort to multiple gsub type editing. I was wondering if I am missing a more simple solution? Code for example: structure(list(date = structure(c(12L, 8L, 18L, 6L, 7L, 4L, 14L, 10L, 1L, 5L, 3L, 17L, 16L, 11L, 15L, 13L, 9L, 2L), .Label = c("13-11-1961", "13-Sep-97", "15-Sep-70", "16-Oct-63", "18 August 1987", "18 August 1992", "19 September 1995", "20 August 1974", "22 August 1989", "22 Jan 2008", "03/23/87", "25 February 1987", "26-10-1993", "30-Sep-65", "30 August 1988", "5 December 1984", "5 October 1994", "9 October 1984"), class = "factor")), .Names = "date", row.names = c(NA, -18L), class = "data.frame")

  • change postgres date format

    - by Jay
Is there a way to change the default format of a date in Postgres? Normally when I query a Postgres database, dates come out as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss+tz, like 2011-02-21 11:30:00-05. But one particular program the dates come out yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.s, that is, there is no time zone and it shows tenths of a second. Apparently something is changing the default date format, but I don't know what or where. I don't think it's a server-side configuration parameter, because I can access the same database with a different program and I get the format with the timezone. I care because it appears to be ignoring my "set timezone" calls in addition to changing the format. All times come out EST. Additional info: If I write "select somedate from sometable" I get the "no timezone" format. But if I write "select to_char(somedate::timestamptz, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss-tz')" then timezones work as I would expect. This really sounds to me like something is setting all timestamps to implicitly be "to_char(date::timestamp, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss.m')". But I can't find anything in the documentation about how I would do this if I wanted to, nor can I find anything in the code that appears to do this. Though as I don't know what to look for, that doesn't prove much.

  • date.format in Chrome 5

    - by blueblood
    Hello, I'm experiencing something really strange with my javascript in chrome with Date().format. If I use the console and type: d = new Date(Date.parse("2010-05-28")) d.format("yyyy-MM-dd"); "" d._toFormattedString(); "Fri May 28 2010 00:00:00 GMT+0200 (W.
