  • mysql mass insert data

    - by user12145
    Edit: I realized that if I construct a large query in memory, the speed has increased almost 10 times of magnitude "insert ignore into xxx(col1, col2) values('a',1), values('b',1), values('c',1)..." Edit: since I have an index on the first column, the insert time creeps up as I insert more. Can I delay the index until the end? Original: I'm using the following to batch insert 10 million rows into mysql db(not all at once, since they don't all fit into memory), it's too slow(taking many hours). should I use load file to improve performance? I would have to create a second file to store all the 10 million rows, then load that into db. are there better ways? PreparedStatement st=con.prepareStatement("insert ignore into xxx (col1, col2) "+ " values (?, 1)"); Iterator d=data.iterator(); while(d.hasNext()){ st.clearParameters(); st.setString(1, (d.next()).toLowerCase()); st.addBatch(); } int[]updateCounts=st.executeBatch();

  • Insert set of fields/document properties automatically

    - by ngm
I'm fairly new to Word 2007. (Coming more from a Linux/text editor background.) Each time I create a document within Word 2007, I add a set of details to the start of the document. It's the same set of details each time -- Author, Date Created, Date Last Modified, and Status, formatted in the same way each time. I include these bits of information either by inserting Fields (Insert -> Quick Parts -> Insert Field) or Document Properties (Insert -> Quick Parts -> Document Properties -> ...). I'm just wondering how I would go about setting up a macro or a template or something along those lines to insert this information automatically, either by a keypress in an existing document, or each time I start a new document.

  • MySQL dump, output each table row on a new line whilst using --extended-insert

    - by soopadoubled
I'm having an issue, where for ease of use, I'd like to be able to format a command line MySQL dump so that each row of a given table is on a new line when using the --extended-insert option. Usually when using --extended-insert, every row of a given table is outputted on one line, and as far as I am aware there's no way to change this, other than post-processing the dump with perl or such like. The format I'm looking for is: -- -- Dumping data for table `ww_tbCountry` -- INSERT INTO `ww_tbCountry` (`iCountryId_PK`, `vCountryName`, `vShortName`, `iSortFlag`, `fTax`, `vCountryCode`, `vSageTaxCode`) VALUES (22, 'Albania', 'AL', 1, 0.00, '8', 'T9'), (33, 'Austria', 'AT', 1, 15.00, '40', 'T9'), (40, 'Belarus', 'BY', 1, 0.00, '112', 'T9'), (41, 'Belgium', 'BE', 1, 15.00, '56', 'T9'), (51, 'Bulgaria', 'BG', 1, 15.00, '100', 'T9' However, when I dump a database using Phpmyadmin, using --extended-insert, each row is dumped on a new line (as shown by the example above). I've gone through Phpmyadmin and can't find any documentation that would explain this. Is anyone able to shed any light on this? Thanks in advance, Ian

  • Create shortcut key to insert new row using Excel 2010

    - by Dave Jarvis
Tried to create a macro in Excel to insert a row: Sub InsertRow() ' ' InsertRow Macro ' ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+I ' Selection.EntireRow.Insert End Sub However, this does not insert a new row without first manually selecting a row. Every solution I've found requires that a row be highlighted before inserting a new row. See also: http://www.shortcutworld.com/en/win/Excel_2010.html How would you create a shortcut key (e.g., Ctrl+Shift+J) to highlight the current row and insert a new row? Thank you! Update Looks like Shift+Space highlights the current row.

  • INSERT OR IGNORE in a trigger

    - by dan04
I have a database (for tracking email statistics) that has grown to hundreds of megabytes, and I've been looking for ways to reduce it. It seems that the main reason for the large file size is that the same strings tend to be repeated in thousands of rows. To avoid this problem, I plan to create another table for a string pool, like so: CREATE TABLE AddressLookup ( ID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, Address TEXT UNIQUE ); CREATE TABLE EmailInfo ( MessageID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, ToAddrRef INTEGER REFERENCES AddressLookup(ID), FromAddrRef INTEGER REFERENCES AddressLookup(ID) /* Additional columns omitted for brevity. */ ); And for convenience, a view to join these tables: CREATE VIEW EmailView AS SELECT MessageID, A1.Address AS ToAddr, A2.Address AS FromAddr FROM EmailInfo LEFT JOIN AddressLookup A1 ON (ToAddrRef = A1.ID) LEFT JOIN AddressLookup A2 ON (FromAddrRef = A2.ID); In order to be able to use this view as if it were a regular table, I've made some triggers: CREATE TRIGGER trg_id_EmailView INSTEAD OF DELETE ON EmailView BEGIN DELETE FROM EmailInfo WHERE MessageID = OLD.MessageID; END; CREATE TRIGGER trg_ii_EmailView INSTEAD OF INSERT ON EmailView BEGIN INSERT OR IGNORE INTO AddressLookup(Address) VALUES (NEW.ToAddr); INSERT OR IGNORE INTO AddressLookup(Address) VALUES (NEW.FromAddr); INSERT INTO EmailInfo SELECT NEW.MessageID, A1.ID, A2.ID FROM AddressLookup A1, AddressLookup A2 WHERE A1.Address = NEW.ToAddr AND A2.Address = NEW.FromAddr; END; CREATE TRIGGER trg_iu_EmailView INSTEAD OF UPDATE ON EmailView BEGIN UPDATE EmailInfo SET MessageID = NEW.MessageID WHERE MessageID = OLD.MessageID; REPLACE INTO EmailView SELECT NEW.MessageID, NEW.ToAddr, NEW.FromAddr; END; The problem After: INSERT OR REPLACE INTO EmailView VALUES (1, '[email protected]', '[email protected]'); INSERT OR REPLACE INTO EmailView VALUES (2, '[email protected]', '[email protected]'); The updated rows contain: MessageID ToAddr FromAddr --------- ------ -------- 1 NULL [email protected] 2 [email protected] [email protected] There's a NULL that shouldn't be there. The corresponding cell in the EmailInfo table contains an orphaned ToAddrRef value. If you do the INSERTs one at a time, you'll see that Alice's ID in the AddressLookup table changes! It appears that this behavior is documented: An ON CONFLICT clause may be specified as part of an UPDATE or INSERT action within the body of the trigger. However if an ON CONFLICT clause is specified as part of the statement causing the trigger to fire, then conflict handling policy of the outer statement is used instead. So the "REPLACE" in the top-level "INSERT OR REPLACE" statement is overriding the critical "INSERT OR IGNORE" in the trigger program. Is there a way I can make it work the way that I wanted?

  • Different ways to query this search in SQL?

    - by Bart Terrell
I am teaching myself MS-SQL and I am trying to find different ways to find the Count of Paid and Unpaid Claims for 2012 grouped by Region from these 3 tables. If there is a returned date, the claim is unpaid if the returned date is null then the claim is paid. I will attach the code I have ran, but I am not sure if there are better ways to do it. Thanks. Here is the code: SET dateformat ymd; CREATE TABLE Claims ( ClaimID INT, SubID INT, [Claim Date] DATETIME ); CREATE TABLE Phoneship ( ClaimID INT, [Shipping Number] INT, [Claim Date] DATETIME, [Ship Date] DATETIME, [Returned Date] DATETIME ); • SQL: How do I INSERT primary key values from two tables INTO a master table.

    - by Stefan
Hello, I would appreciate some help with an SQL statement I really can't get my head around. What I want to do is fairly simple, I need to take the values from two different tables and copy them into an master table when a new row is inserted into one of the two tables. The problem is perhaps best explained like this: I have three tables, productcategories, regioncategories and mastertable. --------------------------- TABLE: PRODUCTCATEGORIES --------------------------- COLUMNS: CODE | DESCRIPTION --------------------------- VALUES: BOOKS | Books --------------------------- --------------------------- TABLE: REGIONCATEGORIES --------------------------- COLUMNS: CODE | DESCRIPTION --------------------------- VALUES: EU | European Union --------------------------- --------------------------- TABLE: MASTERTABLE --------------------------- COLUMNS: REGION | PRODUCT --------------------------- VALUES: EU | BOOKS --------------------------- I want the values to be inserted like this when a new row is created in either productcategories or regioncategories. New row is created. --------------------------- TABLE: PRODUCTCATEGORIES --------------------------- COLUMNS: CODE | DESCRIPTION --------------------------- VALUES: BOOKS | Books --------------------------- VALUES: DVD | DVDs --------------------------- And a SQL statement copies the new values into the mastertable. --------------------------- TABLE: MASTERTABLE --------------------------- COLUMNS: REGION | PRODUCT --------------------------- VALUES: EU | BOOKS --------------------------- VALUES: EU | DVD --------------------------- The same goes if a row is created in the regioncategories. New row. --------------------------- TABLE: REGIONCATEGORIES --------------------------- COLUMNS: CODE | DESCRIPTION --------------------------- VALUES: EU | European Union --------------------------- VALUES: US | United States --------------------------- Copied to the mastertable. --------------------------- TABLE: MASTERTABLE --------------------------- COLUMNS: REGION | PRODUCT --------------------------- VALUES: EU | BOOKS --------------------------- VALUES: EU | DVD --------------------------- VALUES: US | BOOKS --------------------------- VALUES: US | DVD --------------------------- I hope it makes sense. Thanks, Stefan

Tablename: login has 3 columns userid, username and password. I set userid as autoincrementing in database. So I have to insert only username and password everytime.Here's my code. linq_testDataContext db = new linq_testDataContext(); login insert = new login(); insert.username = userNameString; insert.Password = pwdString; db.logins.Attach(insert);// tried to use Add but my intellisence is not showing me Add.I saw attach but dosent seems to work. db.SubmitChanges();

  • mySQL INSERT INTO SELECT not working

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I am trying to implement the "Closure Table" structure in a php/mySQL webapp from Bill Karwins "SQL Antipatterns" slideshare presentation: http://www.slideshare.net/billkarwin/sql-antipatterns-strike-back The first step is to insert some stuff into my tree (page 73 in slide): Easy to insert a new child of comment #5: INSERT INTO Comments ... (Generates comment #8) INSERT INTO TreePaths (ancestor, descendant) VALUES (8, 8); INSERT INTO TreePaths (ancestor, descendant) SELECT ancestor, 8 FROM TreePaths WHERE descendant = 5; I try to translate all this into Codeigniters active record db-style language, and that's about where I get stuck. I cant understand how the second insert gets it's values. Is there anyone out there who can help me out with this?

  • std::string insert method has ambiguous overloads?

    - by sdg
Environment: VS2005 C++ using STLPort 5.1.4. Compiling the following code snippet: std::string copied = "asdf"; char ch = 's'; copied.insert(0,1,ch); I receive an error: Error 1 error C2668: 'stlpx_std::basic_string<_CharT,_Traits,_Alloc>::insert' : ambiguous call to overloaded function It appears that the problem is the insert method call on the string object. The two defined overloads are void insert ( iterator p, size_t n, char c ); string& insert ( size_t pos1, size_t n, char c ); But given that STLPort uses a simple char* as its iterator, the literal zero in the insert method in my code is ambiguous. So while I can easily overcome the problem by hinting such as copied.insert(size_t(0),1,ch); My question is: is this overloading and possible ambiguity intentional in the specification? Or more likely an unintended side-effect of the specific STLPort implementation? (Note that the Microsoft-supplied STL does not have this problem as it has a class for the iterator, instead of a naked pointer)

  • Ways to update a dependent table in the same MySQL transaction?

    - by codie
I need to update two tables inside a single transaction. The individual queries look something like this: 1. INSERT INTO t1 (col1, col2) VALUES (val1, val2) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE col2 = val2; If the above query causes an insert then I need to run the following statement on the second table: 2. INSERT INTO t2 (col1, col2) VALUES (val1, val2) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE col2 = col2 + val2; otherwise, 3. UPDATE t2 SET col2 = col2 - old_val2 + val2 WHERE col1 = val1; -- old_val2 is the value of t1.col2 before it was updated Right now I run a SELECT on t1 first, to determine whether statement 1 will cause an insert or update on t1. Then I run statement 1 and either of 2 and 3 inside a transaction. What are the ways in which I can do all of these inside one transaction itself? The approach I was thinking of is the following: UPDATE t2, t1 set t2.col2 = t2.col2 - t1.col2 WHERE t1.col1 = t2.col2 and t1.col1 = val1; INSERT INTO t1 (col1, col2) VALUES (val1, val2) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE col2 = val2; INSERT INTO t2, t1 (t2.col1, t2.col2) VALUES (t1.col1, t1.col2) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE t2.col2 = t2.col2 + t1.col2 WHERE t1.col1 = t2.col2 and t1.col1 = val1; Unfortunately, there's no multi-table INSERT... ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE in MySQL 5.0. What else could I do?

  • Update/Insert With ADF Web Service Data Control

    - by shay.shmeltzer
The Web service data control (WSDC) in ADF is a powerful feature that allows you to easily build a UI on top of WS interfaces exposed by other systems. However when you drag a WSDC to a page you usually get a set of output components where the data is shown. So how would you actually do an update operation on those values? The answer is that you need a call to another method in your WSDC that does the update - but what if you want to pass to it the actual values that you get from the get method you invoked before? Here is a demo showing how to do that: The two tricks that are shown here are: Changing the properties of items in the DC to be updateable - this gives you inputText fields instead of outputText fields. And passing the currentRow.dataProvider to the update method (and choosing the right iterator for this).

  • How to dynamically insert a keyword in an Amazon Search Widget

    - by ElHaix
Through Amazon Associates, you can create search widgets that have a place for a search term. In the admin, you can set the default search term, but that seems to be tied to the widget ID. I would like to be able to dynamically set the search term for the widget when it is displayed. How can I accomplish this? Note: I am referring to the following banner script: <SCRIPT charset="utf-8" type="text/javascript" src="http://ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?rt=tf_sw&ServiceVersion=20070822&MarketPlace=CA&ID=V20070822%2FCA%2F[PARTNER-ID]%2F8002%2F84cb1754-d9ab-48de-b96b-574927fa9599"> </SCRIPT> <NOSCRIPT><A HREF="http://ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?rt=tf_sw&ServiceVersion=20070822&MarketPlace=CA&ID=V20070822%2FCA%2F[PARTNER-ID]%2F8002%2F84cb1754-d9ab-48de-b96b-574927fa9599&Operation=NoScript">Amazon.ca Widgets</A></NOSCRIPT>

  • Creating New Scripts Dynamically in Lua

    - by bazola
Right now this is just a crazy idea that I had, but I was able to implement the code and get it working properly. I am not entirely sure of what the use cases would be just yet. What this code does is create a new Lua script file in the project directory. The ScriptWriter takes as arguments the file name, a table containing any arguments that the script should take when created, and a table containing any instance variables to create by default. My plan is to extend this code to create new functions based on inputs sent in during its creation as well. What makes this cool is that the new file is both generated and loaded dynamically on the fly. Theoretically you could get this code to generate and load any script imaginable. One use case I can think of is an AI that creates scripts to map out it's functions, and creates new scripts for new situations or environments. At this point, this is all theoretical, though. Here is the test code that is creating the new script and then immediately loading it and calling functions from it: function Card:doScriptWriterThing() local scriptName = "ScriptIAmMaking" local scripter = scriptWriter:new(scriptName, {"argumentName"}, {name = "'test'", one = 1}) scripter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() local loadedScript = require (scriptName) local scriptInstance = loadedScript:new("sayThis") print(scriptInstance:get_name()) --will print test print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 1 scriptInstance:set_one(10000) print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 10000 print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) -- will print sayThis scriptInstance:set_argumentName("saySomethingElse") print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) --will print saySomethingElse end Here is ScriptWriter.lua local ScriptWriter = {} local twoSpaceIndent = " " local equalsWithSpaces = " = " local newLine = "\n" --scriptNameToCreate must be a string --argumentsForNew and instanceVariablesToCreate must be tables and not nil function ScriptWriter:new(scriptNameToCreate, argumentsForNew, instanceVariablesToCreate) local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self }) instance.name = scriptNameToCreate instance.newArguments = argumentsForNew instance.instanceVariables = instanceVariablesToCreate instance.stringList = {} return instance end function ScriptWriter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() self:buildInstanceMetatable() self:buildInstanceCreationMethod() self:buildSettersAndGetters() self:buildReturn() self:writeStringsToFile() end --very first line of any script that will have instances function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceMetatable() table.insert(self.stringList, "local " .. self.name .. " = {}" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end --every script made this way needs a new method to create its instances function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceCreationMethod() --new() function declaration table.insert(self.stringList, ("function " .. self.name .. ":new(")) self:buildNewArguments() table.insert(self.stringList, ")" .. newLine) --first line inside :new() function table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. What I am looking for is feedback on the readability of the code, and following Lua best practices. I would also love to hear whether this approach is a valid one, and whether the way that I have done things will be extensible.

  • How can I do an "insert" statement from MS SQL -> MYSQL using linked servers

    - by bvandrunen
Is it possible to do an "insert" statement through linked servers. I know it is possible by using MSDTC...but does this work between MS SQL and MYSQL? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As of right now...I can update and select between the 2 databases but it gives me an error when I try to run an insert statement. OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "******" returned message "Query-based insertion or updating of BLOB values is not supported.". Msg 7343, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "******" could not INSERT INTO table "[*********]...[******_options]". • New T-SQL Functionality in SQL Server 2008

    - by ejohnson2010
In my most recent posts I have looked at a few of the new features offered in T-SQL in SQL Server 2008. In this post, I want to take a closer look at some of the smaller additions, but additions that are likely to pack a big punch in terms of efficiency. First let’s talk a little about compound operators. This is a concept that has been around in programming languages for a long time, but has just now found its way into T-SQL. For example, the += operator will add the values to the current variable...(read more)

  • Free Content For Websites - Choosing Keyword Phrases to Insert

The way to use keyword phrases in your free website content is to start by selecting a single keyword phrase that best describes what your website stands for. You should then focus on this keyword phrase and other related synonyms. Using the tool I usually use for this exercise, you can get dozens of similar keyword phrases.

  • Can't insert cells in Excel 2010 - "operation not allowed" error message

    - by Force Flow
I was working on a spreadsheet in Excel 2010, and all of a sudden when I attempted to insert a new row of cells, I saw that the insert and delete options were grayed out. I attempted to copy a different row and insert it as a new row, but I got the error message: "This operation is not allowed. The operation is attempting to shift cells in a table on your worksheet." I have not merged or hidden any cells/rows/columns. There are no formulas. There is no data verification. I tried closing and re-opening the spreadsheet. Searching for answers brings up nothing useful.

  • SQL-Server 2008 : Table Insert and Range Check ?

    - by LB .
I'm using the Table Value constructor to insert a bunch of rows at a time. However if i'm using sql replication, I run into a range check constraint on the publisher on my id column managed automatically. The reason is the fact that the id range doesn't seem to be increased during an insert of several values, meaning that the max id is reached before the actual range expansion could occur (or the id threshold). It looks like this problem for which the solution is either running the merge agent or run the sp_adjustpublisheridentityrange stored procedure. I'm litteraly doing something like : INSERT INTO dbo.MyProducts (Name, ListPrice) VALUES ('Helmet', 25.50), ('Wheel', 30.00), ((SELECT Name FROM Production.Product WHERE ProductID = 720), (SELECT ListPrice FROM Production.Product WHERE ProductID = 720)); GO What are my options (if I don't want or can't adopt any of the proposed solution) ? Expand the range ? Decrease the threshold ? Can I programmatically modify my request to circumvent this problem ? thanks.
