  • Outlook 2007 - Right Click Email > Move To {Folder Name}

    I know it seems like an elementary question. What's the simplest and fastest way to move a read/completed email to a different folder in Outlook 2007 (connected to Exchange 2007)? I have a particular user that is challenged by technology. Using keyboard shortcuts is not an option. Dragging and dropping things - forget it. And too many clicks is frustrating to him. He keeps his email inbox completely clean (OCD=True) but he does that by deleting every single email as quickly as he's done with it. If an email can't be resolved in a day or two it almost drives him to insanity. As far as he's concerned, there's only one right thing to do with an email - reply to it and then delete it. He's being asked to save emails unless they are clearly trash. I'm trying to figure out what the simplest method is to move an email to a "Saved Emails" or "Archived" folder (don't confuse "folder" with .PST file, that's irrelevant for this discussion). I envisioned that I could possibly hi-jack every delete and put the email in his Saved folder. But I don't like this option because some emails are truly trash and I don't want him saving those. What I'd really like to do is something like this: Right Click Email in List > Move To {Folder Name} Is there a simple way to do this? Maybe someone has another suggestion on how to handle this situation.

  • Handling the Outlook 2007 AutoArchive PST file

    We encourage our users to enable AutoArchive in Outlook 2007 as a way to manage their mailbox sizes. However, we frequently end up running in to problems with the archive.pst file that is generated. The two main problems we have are: The archive.pst file is located in the user's local profile directory and is never backed up. A dead hard drive or stolen laptop could result in months or years of missing email. All other personal data is stored on network shares, but we can't do that for Outlook PST files. Without some sort of manual intervention, the archive will grow to enormous sizes. Although Outlook 2007 SP2 handles the large files better than before, it still results in slow response times from Outlook and an increase likelihood of a corrupt PST file. To mitigate these problems personally, I move the archives to a c:\Outlook folder and manually back that up to a shared drive every month or so. Additionally, I rotate archive files every year so that I have one file for each year (archive2008.pst, etc). Obviously, asking our users to do this same wouldn't help much. We need some sort of automated solution to take care of points 1 and 2. I have to imagine this is a common problem for Exchange organizations, so what is the best method to handle this?

  • Exchange 2007 - Mailbox Database Recovery

    Exchange 2007 edb Can we restore Exchange edb (First storage group\mailbox database.edb) to another exchange server ? Do I just copy the edb to the new exchange server and delete the first storage group\mailbox database.edb and replace it with this one ? How can I get all the mailboxes from that (old) mailbox database.edb ? I had a exchange 2007 server with 10 mailboxes, I have installed exchange on another machine and was thinking if I can do the above ? or is there any way I can get all the mailboxes from that edb (old mailbox database) and import them into the new one. I have deleted the old exchange install I had (these are test machines) What are the steps required to get the DB working on the new machine ? Also, I am confused about the recovery storage group ? I can mount a mailbox database in recovery storage group, but when I try to get mailbox out of it, it won't match any thing ? can someone please assist in understanding RSG and how to restore the OLD mailbox database. thanks and regards Phrontiste

  • Strange problem with Google Mail and IMAP on Outlook 2007

    I work for a small non-profit organization. We have about 35 administrative employees who use e-mail. We're on a Windows network with a domain. Everyone is running XP Pro and Office 2007 with all updates/patches. We used to use POP3 mail through a local provider. However, we recently signed-up for a free Google Apps account, and we switched to IMAP mail through Google. Everyone uses Outlook 2007 as the client. For about ten days, everything was working fine. Yesterday afternoon, we suddenly developed a strange and annoying problem. Every time you send an e-mail message, a copy of your outgoing message shows up in your inbox. It's as if you're adding your own address to the CC: line of every message. Nothing has changed on our end. I was hoping that the problem was a temporary glitch that would resolve itself, but here we are about 24 hours later, and it's still happening. I searched Twitter, and there were a handful of vague messages about issues with Google mail and IMAP, but I didn't see any references to this specific problem. Any thoughts on what's going on here and how to fix it?

You’ve run into one of the limitations of older BIOSes, USB was around but nobody was thinking about booting off of it. Fortunately if you have a computer old enough to have that kind of BIOS it’s likely to also has a floppy drive or a CDROM drive. While you could make a bootable CDROM for your application we understand that you want to keep using the master USB installer you’ve made. In light of that we recommend PLoP Boot Manager. Think of it like a boot manager for your boot manager. Using it you can create a bootable floppy or CDROM that will enable USB booting of your master USB drive.   • Trying to use the "Use Specific Printer" option in Access 2007

    I am trying to set a report to use a specific printer. I go into design mode, click on the page setup ribbon, click the page setup bottun, go into the page tabt, click the option to choose a specific printer, and then click the printer button to choose the printer I want to use. I save the steps and exit out of the report, but it still goes back and prints from the default printer. Why? I had no problems with this feature in 2003, why am I having problems in 2007. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Windows 7 Office 2007 GPO install

    I have a GPO that works fine for installing Office 2007 Pro Plus on Vista and XP but when it installs Office on Windows 7 somehow the office key does not get entered via the customized msp, and needs to be entered manually. Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for a fix? Its defeats the purpose of remote unattended install if I then have to run around entering the stupid key. edit: I am sorry I should have specified I also have the config.xml file customized already. I have it set to display level none, completion no, suppress modal to yes accept eula to yes, the key put in and the company name and the username variable (%USERNAME%).

  • Opening password protected Excel 2007 documents by double clicking from My documents does not work u

    When all of the following conditions are true, excel will open (most of the time) but will not open the document itself. No error is displayed. This only occurs with Excel files, Word and powerpoint do open perfectly. Conditions : OS is "Windows 7 Professional 64-bit" office is "Office 2007 Ultimate". excel file is in .xls (2003 format) excel file is password protected excel file is in "My Documents" (or a subfolder of it) file is double-clicked from explorer under Windows 7. Following options do open the excel file as it should : right click and selecting the (bold) open action single click the file and pressing enter moving the file to the desktop and double-click it. non password protected files do open from the same directory. Actions taken not resolving the problem: - reboot - repair office installation - system restore does not work because of Antivirus application installed (message from system restore, using "Symantec Internet Security 2010") Anyone any idea ?

    When you click help, you don’t want to wait for your computer to bring it to you.  Here’s how you can speed up the help dialog in Windows and Office. If you have a slow internet connection, chances are you’ve been frustrated by the Help dialog in Windows and Office trying to download fresh content every time you open them. This can be great if the updated help files contain better content, but sometimes you just want to find what you were looking for without waiting.  Here’s how you can turn off the automatic online help. Use Local Help in Windows Windows 7 and Vista’s help dialog usually tries to load the latest content from the net, but this can take a long time on slow connections. If you’re seeing the above screen a lot, you may want to switch to offline help.  Click the “Online Help” button at the bottom, and select “Get offline Help”. Now your computer will just load the pre-installed help files.  And don’t worry; if there’s a major update to your help files, Windows will download and install it through Windows Update.   Stupid Geek Tip: An easy way to open Windows Help is to click on your desktop or Start Menu and press F1 on your keyboard. Use Local Help in Office This same trick works in Office 2007 and 2010.  We’ve actually had more problems with Office’s help being tardy. Solve this the same way as with Windows help.  Click on the “Connected to Office.com” or “Connected to Office Online” button, depending on your version of Office, and select “Show content only from this computer”. This will automatically change the settings for Help in all of your Office applications.   • Outlook 2007 freezes my system when I start it says it is "synchonizing folders"

    When I try to start Outlook 2007, my system freezes, and Outlook says it is "synchonizing folders". I don't use exchange, and haven't seen any answers online. I've tried turning off the exchange integration (right clicking my folders) Since doing the latter, there is no longer an icon in the system tray when this is frozen (there was before) UPDATE: It seems my anti-virus program (comodo) was what was actually locking during Outlook file synch. I disabled that, and things seemed to settle down.

    I went to open Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 32bit machine and it came up with this error: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I have deleted and created a new profile in Control Panel Mail but it still doesn't want to work properly but it still comes up with this message. Thanks in advance.

  • SCCM 2007 R2 missing boot.wim files from OSD\Boot folder

    I have just installed SCCM 2007 R2 and when I went to deploy an OS i found that there is a problem with the boot.wim...There isnt one in the osd\ folder on the SCCM server. I then tried to use other WIM files and they all failed with "Error: Errors You can not import this boot image. Only finalized boot images are supported" I even tried to recreate the wim with DISM and it still would not accept it. Any ideas.

    We cannot get any solutions to deploy to a MOSS 2007 environment. We are also attempting to install solutions from a SharePoint vendor - their installer is reporting the solutions are already deployed. This doesn't appear to apply to our farm: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadmin/thread/4f1b3aaf-7173-4151-874b-5740bff4b14f We could not find that path location anywhere our any of our MOSS servers (CA, WFEs, etc).

    Outlook 2007 is slow to load messages...Why is this, and what can I do to speed it up? Currently have about 850 messages in the Inbox folder, and the preview pane turned off, thus I view messages by double-clicking. This is where it gets slow, when I double click, it brings up a new window with everything but the actual message loaded. Solutions? Thanks! (running Windows 7)

We got it to sync with Windows base phone ie. smart phone or PDA... but not able to get it to syc with Sony Ericsson phone which is not a windows base phone.     I'm trying to determine if there is any buffer of time from the time a password expires in AD to the time that users would stop receiving email on their mobile devices our setup is Exchange 2007 ActiveSync DC's are Server 2008 R2 primarily Android shop, with maybe a few iOS devices I've heard some rumors of people still receiving email after their password expired / changed on the domain, just want to see if anyone else has ever heard of this. Did a bit more reading, read about Token Cache in IIS 7.0 and 15min lagtime, still would like to hear any thoughts about this.
