  • Wrong assembly-references for Silverlight Sketchflow project in Blend 3

    - by persistent
    Hello, In my installation of Blend 3, the SketchStyles are missing when a new project is created. I found out that this is because the following automatic references in the project are wrong: Microsoft.Expression.Interactions Microsoft.Expression.Prototyping.Interactivity Microsoft.Expression.Prototyping.RunTime Microsoft.Expression.Prototyping.SketchControls In the project references these all point to my project path (where they don't live). If I remove them manually, and instead set the references to ie this: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Expression\Blend 3\Interactivity\Libraries\Silverlight\Microsoft.Expression.Interactions.dll" everything works. Any ideas on why, and how to fix this? Could it be the project template somehow? TIA

  • Persistance JDO - How to query a property of a collection with JDOQL?

    - by Sergio del Amo
    I want to build an application where a user identified by an email address can have several application accounts. Each account can have one o more users. I am trying to use the JDO Storage capabilities with Google App Engine Java. Here is my attempt: @PersistenceCapable @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceStrategy.NEW_TABLE) public class AppAccount { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent private String companyName; @Persistent List<Invoices> invoices = new ArrayList<Invoices>(); @Persistent List<AppUser> users = new ArrayList<AppUser>(); // Getter Setters and Other Fields } @PersistenceCapable @EmbeddedOnly public class AppUser { @Persistent private String username; @Persistent private String firstName; @Persistent private String lastName; // Getter Setters and Other Fields } When a user logs in, I want to check how many accounts does he belongs to. If he belongs to more than one he will be presented with a dashboard where he can click which account he wants to load. This is my code to retrieve a list of app accounts where he is registered. public static List<AppAccount> getUserAppAccounts(String username) { PersistenceManager pm = JdoUtil.getPm(); Query q = pm.newQuery(AppAccount.class); q.setFilter("users.username == usernameParam"); q.declareParameters("String usernameParam"); return (List<AppAccount>) q.execute(username); } But I get the next error: SELECT FROM invoices.server.AppAccount WHERE users.username == usernameParam PARAMETERS String usernameParam: Encountered a variable expression that isn't part of a join. Maybe you're referencing a non-existent field of an embedded class. org.datanucleus.store.appengine.FatalNucleusUserException: SELECT FROM com.softamo.pelicamo.invoices.server.AppAccount WHERE users.username == usernameParam PARAMETERS String usernameParam: Encountered a variable expression that isn't part of a join. • Problem connecting to postgres with Kohana 3 database module on OS X Snow Leopard

    - by Bart Gottschalk
    Environment: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard PHP 5.3 Kohana 3.0.4 When I try to configure and use a connection to a postgresql database on localhost I get the following error: ErrorException [ Warning ]: mysql_connect(): [2002] No such file or directory (trying to connect via unix:///var/mysql/mysql.sock) Here is the configuration of the database in /modules/database/config/database.php (note the third instance named 'pgsqltest') return array ( 'default' => array ( 'type' => 'mysql', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for MySQL: * * string hostname * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string database * * Ports and sockets may be appended to the hostname. */ 'hostname' => 'localhost', 'username' => FALSE, 'password' => FALSE, 'persistent' => FALSE, 'database' => 'kohana', ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), 'alternate' => array( 'type' => 'pdo', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for PDO: * * string dsn * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string identifier */ 'dsn' => 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=kohana', 'username' => 'root', 'password' => 'r00tdb', 'persistent' => FALSE, ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), 'pgsqltest' => array( 'type' => 'pdo', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for PDO: * * string dsn * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string identifier */ 'dsn' => 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=pgsqltest', 'username' => 'postgres', 'password' => 'dev1234', 'persistent' => FALSE, ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), ); And here is the code to create the database instance, create a query and execute the query: $pgsqltest_db = Database::instance('pgsqltest'); $query = DB::query(Database::SELECT, 'SELECT * FROM test')->execute(); I'm continuing to research a solution for this error but thought I'd ask to see if someone else has already found a solution. Any ideas are welcome. One other note is that I know my build of PHP can access this postgresql db since I'm able to manage the db using phpPgAdmin. But I have yet to determine what phpPgAdmin is doing differently to connect to the db than what Kohana 3 is attempting. Bart

  • Why does Keychain Services return the wrong keychain content?

    - by Graham Lee
    I've been trying to use persistent keychain references in an iPhone application. I found that if I created two different keychain items, I would get a different persistent reference each time (they look like 'genp.......1', 'genp.......2', …). However, attempts to look up the items by persistent reference always returned the content of the first item. Why should this be? I confirmed that my keychain-saving code was definitely creating new items in each case (rather than updating existing items), and was not getting any errors. And as I say, Keychain Services is giving a different persistent reference for each item. I've managed to solve my immediate problem by searching for keychain items by attribute rather than persistent references, but it would be easier to use persistent references so I'd appreciate solving this problem. Here's my code: - (NSString *)keychainItemWithName: (NSString *)name { NSString *path = [GLApplicationSupportFolder() stringByAppendingPathComponent: name]; NSData *persistentRef = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile: path]; if (!persistentRef) { NSLog(@"no persistent reference for name: %@", name); return nil; } NSArray *refs = [NSArray arrayWithObject: persistentRef]; //get the data CFMutableDictionaryRef params = CFDictionaryCreateMutable(NULL, 0, &kCFTypeDictionaryKeyCallBacks, &kCFTypeDictionaryValueCallBacks); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecMatchItemList, refs); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecClass, kSecClassGenericPassword); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecReturnData, kCFBooleanTrue); CFDataRef item = NULL; OSStatus result = SecItemCopyMatching(params, (CFTypeRef *)&item); CFRelease(params); if (result != errSecSuccess) { NSLog(@"error %d retrieving keychain reference for name: %@", result, name); return nil; } NSString *token = [[NSString alloc] initWithData: (NSData *)item encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; CFRelease(item); return [token autorelease]; } - (void)setKeychainItem: (NSString *)newToken forName: (NSString *)name { NSData *tokenData = [newToken dataUsingEncoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //firstly, find out whether the item already exists NSDictionary *searchAttributes = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: name, kSecAttrAccount, kCFBooleanTrue, kSecReturnAttributes, nil]; NSDictionary *foundAttrs = nil; OSStatus searchResult = SecItemCopyMatching((CFDictionaryRef)searchAttributes, (CFTypeRef *)&foundAttrs); if (noErr == searchResult) { NSMutableDictionary *toStore = [foundAttrs mutableCopy]; [toStore setObject: tokenData forKey: (id)kSecValueData]; OSStatus result = SecItemUpdate((CFDictionaryRef)foundAttrs, (CFDictionaryRef)toStore); if (result != errSecSuccess) { NSLog(@"error %d updating keychain", result); } [toStore release]; return; } //need to create the item. • One-to-many relationship with JDO in Google App Engine

    - by Marvin
    I've followed the GAE docs on setting up one-to-many relationship in JDO but I'm still having trouble in retrieving the collection data back. I have no problem getting the other non-collection fields back. Here are my classes: @PersistenceCapable public class User{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key key; @Persistent private String uniqueId; @Persistent private String email; @Persistent private List<Address> addresses = new ArrayList<Address>() ; ... } @PersistenceCapable public class Phone{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key key; @Persistent private String number; ... } public class UserDaoImpl implements UserDao { public void insertUser(User user) { if(user.getKey() == null) { com.google.appengine.api.datastore.Key key = KeyFactory.createKey(User.class.getSimpleName(), user.getEmail()); user.setKey(key); } PersistenceManager pm = PersistenceManagerWrapper.getPersistenceManager(); notNull(user); try { pm.makePersistent(user); } finally { pm.close(); } } @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public User getUser(String uniqueId) { PersistenceManager pm = PersistenceManagerWrapper.getPersistenceManager(); Query query = pm.newQuery(User.class); query.setFilter("uniqueId == uniqueIdParam"); query.declareParameters("String uniqueIdParam"); User user = null; try { List<User> users = (List<User>)(query.execute(uniqueId)); //TODO abstract this if(users.size() > 0) user = users.get(0); } finally { pm.close(); } return user; } } public class UserDaoImplTest { @Test public void getUserTest() { User user = createTestUser(); assertNotNull("The user object should not be null", user); userDao.insertUser(user); User returnedUser = userDao.getUser(TEST_USER_ID); assertNotNull("The returnedUser object should not be null", returnedUser); Assert.assertPropertyEqualsExcludeProperties("User Object", user, returnedUser, ""); } } When I run the test, all the properties for User is populated but the list of Phone if I get is empty.

  • Java unit test coverage numbers do not match.

    - by Dan
    Below is a class I have written in a web application I am building using Java Google App Engine. I have written Unit Tests using TestNG and all the tests pass. I then run EclEmma in Eclipse to see the test coverage on my code. All the functions show 100% coverage but the file as a whole is showing about 27% coverage. Where is the 73% uncovered code coming from? Can anyone help me understand how EclEmma works and why I am getting the discrepancy in numbers? package com.skaxo.sports.models; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdentityType; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; import javax.jdo.annotations.PrimaryKey; @PersistenceCapable(identityType= IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class Account { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy=IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent private String userId; @Persistent private String firstName; @Persistent private String lastName; @Persistent private String email; @Persistent private boolean termsOfService; @Persistent private boolean systemEmails; public Account() {} public Account(String firstName, String lastName, String email) { super(); this.firstName = firstName; this.lastName = lastName; this.email = email; } public Account(String userId) { super(); this.userId = userId; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public Long getId() { return id; } public String getUserId() { return userId; } public void setUserId(String userId) { this.userId = userId; } public String getFirstName() { return firstName; } public void setFirstName(String firstName) { this.firstName = firstName; } public String getLastName() { return lastName; } public void setLastName(String lastName) { this.lastName = lastName; } public String getEmail() { return email; } public void setEmail(String email) { this.email = email; } public boolean acceptedTermsOfService() { return termsOfService; } public void setTermsOfService(boolean termsOfService) { this.termsOfService = termsOfService; } public boolean acceptedSystemEmails() { return systemEmails; } public void setSystemEmails(boolean systemEmails) { this.systemEmails = systemEmails; } } Below is the test code for the above class. package com.skaxo.sports.models; import static org.testng.Assert.assertEquals; import static org.testng.Assert.assertNotNull; import static org.testng.Assert.assertTrue; import static org.testng.Assert.assertFalse; import org.testng.annotations.BeforeTest; import org.testng.annotations.Test; public class AccountTest { @Test public void testId() { Account a = new Account(); a.setId(1L); assertEquals((Long) 1L, a.getId(), "ID"); a.setId(3L); assertNotNull(a.getId(), "The ID is set to null."); } @Test public void testUserId() { Account a = new Account(); a.setUserId("123456ABC"); assertEquals(a.getUserId(), "123456ABC", "User ID incorrect."); a = new Account("123456ABC"); assertEquals(a.getUserId(), "123456ABC", "User ID incorrect."); } @Test public void testFirstName() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getFirstName(), "Test", "User first name not equal to 'Test'."); a.setFirstName("John"); assertEquals(a.getFirstName(), "John", "User first name not equal to 'John'."); } @Test public void testLastName() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getLastName(), "User", "User last name not equal to 'User'."); a.setLastName("Doe"); assertEquals(a.getLastName(), "Doe", "User last name not equal to 'Doe'."); } @Test public void testEmail() { Account a = new Account("Test", "User", "[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getEmail(), "[email protected]", "User email not equal to '[email protected]'."); a.setEmail("[email protected]"); assertEquals(a.getEmail(), "[email protected]", "User email not equal to '[email protected]'."); } @Test public void testAcceptedTermsOfService() { Account a = new Account(); a.setTermsOfService(true); assertTrue(a.acceptedTermsOfService(), "Accepted Terms of Service not true."); a.setTermsOfService(false); assertFalse(a.acceptedTermsOfService(), "Accepted Terms of Service not false."); } @Test public void testAcceptedSystemEmails() { Account a = new Account(); a.setSystemEmails(true); assertTrue(a.acceptedSystemEmails(), "System Emails is not true."); a.setSystemEmails(false); assertFalse(a.acceptedSystemEmails(), "System Emails is not false."); } }

  • JDO architecture: One to many relationship and cascading deleting

    - by user361897
    I’m new to object oriented database designs and I’m trying to understand how I should be structuring my classes in JDO for google app engine, particularly one to many relationships. Let’s say I’m building a structure for a department store where there are many departments, and each department has many products. So I’d want to have a class called Department, with a variable that is a list of a Product class. @PersistenceCapable public class Department { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private String deptID; @Persistent private String departmentName; @Persistent private List<Product>; } @PersistenceCapable public class Product { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private String productID; @Persistent private String productName; } But one Product can be in more than one Department (like a battery could be in electronics and household supplies). So the next question is, how do I not duplicate data in the OOD world and have only one copy of product data in numerous departments? And the next question is, let’s say I delete out a particular product, how do each of the departments know it was deleted?

  • [app-engine-java-groovy] One-to-Many relationship. Select objects from datastore.

    - by Olexandr
    Hi. I've omitted some code(package declarations, imports, other fields) for shortness. I have here simple One-to-Many relation. It worked fine till this moment. @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class Restaurant implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent(mappedBy = "restaurant") List<RestaurantAddress> addresses = new ArrayList<RestaurantAddress>() } //-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") class RestaurantAddress implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key id @Persistent Restaurant restaurant } Now i need to get(select) all the Restaurants from DB: def getRestaurantsToExport(final String dst, final int count) { String field = restaurantExportFields[dst] return transactionExecute() { PersistenceManager pm -> Query q = pm.newQuery(Restaurant.class) q.filter = "$field == null" q.setRange(0, count) return q.execute() } } But there are on problem - query gives me 12 restaurants(as in DB) but every Restaurant has 0 Address but in Datastore every Restaurant has minimum 2 addresses. Have anyone the same problem or knows the solution ?

  • How to get the permissions right for /dev/raw1394

    - by Mark0978
    I recently upgraded one of my ubuntu machines to Karmic and I'm having trouble getting the permissions of /dev/raw1394 set to 0666. They only thing this machine is used for is recording audio from a firepod which uses /dev/raw1394 via jackd and there are no other FireWire devices connected, so security around this device is not really an issue. If I run as root, everything works as expected, but I have some folks that run the recorder that I don't want to have root access. However, I can't figure out which lines setup the perms I've tied this: /etc/udev/permissions.d/raw1394.rules:raw1394:root:root:0666 And I have this setup (default install) /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules:SUBSYSTEMS=="ieee1394", ENV{COMMENT}="Firewire device $attr{host_id})" /lib/udev/rules.d/75-cd-aliases-generator.rules:# the "path" of usb/ieee1394 devices changes frequently, use "id" /lib/udev/rules.d/75-cd-aliases-generator.rules:ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="block", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb|ieee1394", ENV{ID_CDROM}=="?*", ENV{GENERATED}!="?*", \ /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-storage-tape.rules:KERNEL=="st*[0-9]|nst*[0-9]", ATTRS{ieee1394_id}=="?*", ENV{ID_SERIAL}="$attr{ieee1394_id}", ENV{ID_BUS}="ieee1394" /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:# FireWire (deprecated dv1394 and video1394 drivers) /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:KERNEL=="dv1394-[0-9]*", NAME="dv1394/%n", GROUP="video" /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules:KERNEL=="video1394-[0-9]*", NAME="video1394/%n", GROUP="video" /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-storage.rules:KERNEL=="sd*[!0-9]|sr*", ATTRS{ieee1394_id}=="?*", SYMLINK+="disk/by-id/ieee1394-$attr{ieee1394_id}" /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-storage.rules:KERNEL=="sd*[0-9]", ATTRS{ieee1394_id}=="?*", SYMLINK+="disk/by-id/ieee1394-$attr{ieee1394_id}-part%n" And I find these lines in /var/log/syslog Apr 30 09:11:30 record kernel: [ 3.284010] ieee1394: Node added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[000a9200c7062266] Apr 30 09:11:30 record kernel: [ 3.284195] ieee1394: Host added: ID:BUS[0-01:1023] GUID[00d0035600a97b9f] Apr 30 09:11:30 record kernel: [ 18.372791] ieee1394: raw1394: /dev/raw1394 device initialized What I can't figure out, is which line actually creates that raw1394 device in the first place. • Thick models Vs. Business Logic, Where do you draw the distinction?

    - by TokenMacGuy
    Today I got into a heated debate with another developer at my organization about where and how to add methods to database mapped classes. We use sqlalchemy, and a major part of the existing code base in our database models is little more than a bag of mapped properties with a class name, a nearly mechanical translation from database tables to python objects. In the argument, my position was that that the primary value of using an ORM was that you can attach low level behaviors and algorithms to the mapped classes. Models are classes first, and secondarily persistent (they could be persistent using xml in a filesystem, you don't need to care). His view was that any behavior at all is "business logic", and necessarily belongs anywhere but in the persistent model, which are to be used for database persistence only. I certainly do think that there is a distinction between what is business logic, and should be separated, since it has some isolation from the lower level of how that gets implemented, and domain logic, which I believe is the abstraction provided by the model classes argued about in the previous paragraph, but I'm having a hard time putting my finger on what that is. I have a better sense of what might be the API (which, in our case, is HTTP "ReSTful"), in that users invoke the API with what they want to do, distinct from what they are allowed to do, and how it gets done. tl;dr: What kinds of things can or should go in a method in a mapped class when using an ORM, and what should be left out, to live in another layer of abstraction?

  • Creating a bootable flash without overlayfs

    - by Septagram
    I want to create an USB stick to carry my Ubuntu everywhere around with me. It's not intended to spread Ubuntu by installing it everywhere, but rather for running my configured system on any computer I come across. So far, I went with installing Ubuntu with unetbootin, however, I have some issues with this. When installed with netbootin, the original disk image is kept intact on the flash drive, forever. Also, a file is created for persistent storage and during boot it is accessed together with the image by overlayfs. This, in my opinion, has the following problems: If system is updated regularly, then files from the image are overwritten in persistent storage, doubling their size and wasting precious space. Persistent storage has a fixed size that you have to define from the start, again, wasting precious space. I'm not 100% sure, but maybe using overlayfs makes disk access slower, and more so on the relatively slow devices. So I'd like to find another solution: either to get rid of the original image or to install Ubuntu "normally" on the separate ext2 partition, or maybe even install it in the main vfat partition on the USB stick. Suggestions?

    - by Marina Vatkina
    If you are not following us on the users alias, here is a quick update. Just before JavaOne, I uploaded the latest version of the EJB 3.2 Core document to the ejb-spec.java.net downloads. If you want to see the detailed changes, download it If you are interested in the high-level list, or would like to know what to look for, this is the list of changes since the previous version (found on the same download page): Specified that the SessionContext object in a the singleton session bean is thread-safe Clarified that the EJB timers distribution and failover rules apply only to persistent timers Clarified that non-persistent timers returned by getTimers and getAllTimers methods are from the same JVM as the caller Fixed section numbering (left over after moving it to its own chapter) in Ch 17 Noted that only 3.0 and 3.1 deployment descriptors are required to be supported in EJB 3.2 Lite for prior versions of the applications Fixes for EJB_SPEC-61 (Ambiguity in EJB lite local view support) and EJB_SPEC-59 (Improve references to the component-defining annotations) JMS/MDB changes: added new standard activation properties and the unique identifier, and rearranged sections for easier navigation Fixed unresolved cross-refs Updated the rule: only local asynchronous session bean invocations are supported in EJB 3.2 Lite Synchronized permissions in the Table with the permissions listed for the EJB Components in the Java EE Platform Specification Table EE.6-2 Specified that during processing of the close() method, the embeddable container cancels all pending asynchronous invocations and non-persistent timers Updated most of the referenced documents to their latest versions Happy reading!

Entity code: package com.ver2.DY.client; import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.ArrayList; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; import javax.jdo.annotations.PrimaryKey; import com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.IsSerializable; @PersistenceCapable public class ChatInfo implements Serializable, IsSerializable{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long topicId; @Persistent private String chatTopic; @Persistent private ArrayList messages = new ArrayList(); @Persistent private boolean isFirstPost; public ChatInfo() { } public Long getTopicId() { return topicId; } public void setTopicId(Long topicId) { this.topicId = topicId; } public String getChatTopic() { return chatTopic; } public void setChatTopic(String chatTopic) { this.chatTopic = chatTopic; } public ArrayList getMessages() { return messages; } public void addMessage(String newMsg) { messages.add(newMsg); } public boolean isFirstPost() { return isFirstPost; } public void setFirstPost(boolean isFirstPost) { this.isFirstPost = isFirstPost; } } Method in db class: @Transactional public ChatInfo[] getAllChat() { PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); List chats = null; ChatInfo[] infos = null; String query = "select from " + ChatInfo.class.getName(); try{ chats = (List) pm.newQuery(query).execute(); infos = new ChatInfo[chats.size()]; for(int i=0;i } It is a bit strange because earlier I was able to insert and retrieve the data but it now throwing an exception. On searching the web I could find that I need to convert the Arraylist from some DataNucleus type to java util but not sure how to do that.

  • How do I update with a newly-created detached entity using NHibernate?

    - by Daniel T.
    Explanation: Let's say I have an object graph that's nested several levels deep and each entity has a bi-directional relationship with each other. A -> B -> C -> D -> E Or in other words, A has a collection of B and B has a reference back to A, and B has a collection of C and C has a reference back to B, etc... Now let's say I want to edit some data for an instance ofC. In Winforms, I would use something like this: var instanceOfC; using (var session = SessionFactory.OpenSession()) { // get the instance of C with Id = 3 instanceOfC = session.Linq<C>().Where(x => x.Id == 3); } SendToUIAndLetUserUpdateData(instanceOfC); using (var session = SessionFactory.OpenSession()) { // re-attach the detached entity and update it session.Update(instanceOfC); } In plain English, we grab a persistent instance out of the database, detach it, give it to the UI layer for editing, then re-attach it and save it back to the database. Problem: This works fine for Winform applications because we're using the same entity all throughout, the only difference being that it goes from persistent to detached to persistent again. The problem occurs when I'm using a web service and a browser, sending over JSON data. In this case, the data that comes back is no longer a detached entity, but rather a transient one that just happens to have the same ID as the persistent one. If I use this entity to update, it will wipe out the relationship to B and D unless I sent the entire object graph over to the UI and got it back in one piece. Question: My question is, how do I serialize detached entities over the web, receive them back, and save them, while preserving any relationships that I didn't explicitly change? I know about ISession.SaveOrUpdateCopy and ISession.Merge() (they seem to do the same thing?), but this will still wipe out the relationships if I don't explicitly set them. I could copy the fields from the transient entity to the persistent entity one by one, but this doesn't work too well when it comes to relationships and I'd have to handle version comparisons manually.

  • dns queries not using nscd for caching

    - by xenoterracide
    I'm trying to use nscd (Nameservices Cache Daemon) to cache dns locally so I can stop using bind to do it. I've gotten it started and ntpd seems to attempt to use it. But everything else for hosts seems to ignore it. e.g if I do dig apache.org 3 times none of them will hit the cache. I'm viewing the cache stats using nscd -g to determine whether it's been used. I've also turned the debug log level up to see if I can see it hitting and the queries don't even hit nscd. nsswitch.conf # Begin /etc/nsswitch.conf passwd: files group: files shadow: files publickey: files hosts: cache files dns networks: files protocols: files services: files ethers: files rpc: files netgroup: files # End /etc/nsswitch.confenter code here nscd.conf # # /etc/nscd.conf # # An example Name Service Cache config file. • In NHIbernate, why does SaveOrUpdate() update the Version, but SaveOrUpdateCopy() doesn't?

    - by Daniel T.
    I have a versioned entity, and this is what happens when I use SaveOrUpdate() vs. SaveOrUpdateCopy(): // create new entity var entity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 0 // save the new entity GetNewSession(); entity.SaveOrUpdate(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1 GetNewSession(); // loads the persistent entity into the session, so we have to use // SaveOrUpdateCopy() to merge the following transient entity var dbEntity = Database.GetAll<Entity>(); // new, transient entity used to update the persistent entity in the session var newEntity = new Entity{ Id = Guid.Empty }); newEntity.SaveOrUpdateCopy(); Console.WriteLine(entity.Version); // prints out 1, but should be 2 Why is the version number is not updated for SaveOrUpdateCopy()? As I understand it, the transient entity is merged with the persistent entity. The SQL calls confirm that the data is updated. At this point, shouldn't newEntity become persistent, and the version number incremented?

  • JDO, GAE: Load object group by child's key

I created an instance of class PollInfo and make it persistence. It is ok. But then I want to load this group by AccessInfo key, and I am getting exception NucleusObjectNotFoundException. Is it possible to load a group by child's key?

  • Appengine JDO dataclasses to python model

    - by M.A. Cape
    Does anyone have tried to implement an app in GAE having both java and python? I have an existing app and my front end is in java. Now I want to use the existing datastore to be interfaced by python. My problem is i don't know how to define the relationships and model that would be equivalent to the one in java. I have tried the one-to-many relationship in python but when stored in the datastore, the fields are different than the one-to-many of java. My data classes are as follows. //one-to-many owned Parent Class public class Parent{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent private String unitID; //some other fields... @Persistent @Order(extensions = @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="list-ordering", value="dateCreated desc")) private List <Child> child; //methods & constructors were omitted } Child public class Child{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key uId; @Persistent private String name; /* etc... */ }

  • Auto increment column i JDO, GAE

    - by Viktor
    Hi, I have a data class with some fields, one is a URL that I consider the PK, if I add a new item (do a new sync) and save it it should overwrite the item in the database if it's the same URL. But I also need a "normal" Long id that is incremented for every object in the database and for this one I always get null unless I tags it as a PK, how can a get this incrementation but not have the column as my PK? @Persistent(valueStrategy=IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long _id; @Persistent private String _title; @PrimaryKey @Persistent private String _url; /Viktor

  • bi-directional o2m/m2o beats uni-directional o2m in SQL efficiency?

    - by Henry
    Use these 2 persistent CFCs for example: // Cat.cfc component persistent="true" { property name="id" fieldtype="id" generator="native"; property name="name"; } // Owner.cfc component persistent="true" { property name="id" fieldtype="id" generator="native"; property name="cats" type="array" fieldtype="one-to-many" cfc="cat" cascade="all"; } When one-to-many (unidirectional) Note: inverse=true on unidirectional will yield undesired result: insert into cat (name) values (?) insert into Owner default values update cat set Owner_id=? where id=? When one-to-many/many-to-one (bi-directional, inverse=true on Owner.cats): insert into Owner default values insert into cat (name, ownerId) values (?, ?) Does that mean setting up bi-directional o2m/m2o relationship is preferred 'cause the SQL for inserting the entities is more efficient?
