  • How to find a hidden stream video/audio link and record it

    I've been using 'URL snooper' to find the hidden streaming url. And feed that url to VLC to record streaming video/audio. But the VLC can't read those url. Then I also found that the url is like a floating url that changes every several hours. So the same audio station won't have same url. The streaming audio provider has bunches of audio stations and shuffle the link frequently. Is there any way to record the streaming media in this case? Please advise, thanks.

I'm aware of Audio Hijack Pro but that really does much more than I'm looking for and comes with a steep price tag. If it's the only tool that can do the job that's fine but I was hoping to find something that simply captured all audio coming from the computer and dumped it to a file. Thanks in advance!

  • How do I relay output from a soundboard into input on skype?

    I'm trying to find a way to play audio from flash soundboards to people on skype. I apparently do not have Wave/Stereo mix/What u hear supported on my soundcard (I have windows 7 professional). I only have one soundcard, and I'm usually using headset. However, I have another laptop with windows vista on it that does have stereo mix available. The problem is, it still doesn't work. When I click an audio bit it just doesn't do anything. It plays on my end, but not to the person on the other end. Is there a way to do this? What am I missing?

    I have the following problem: I want to stream the audio I record with one machine to another machine in the same network. It seems that vlc is the best shot at the moment. I was able to stream a music file via vlc but streaming the audio from the microphone the same doesn't work. EDIT If I enable play locally the captured sound is played. Even streaming to another instance of VLC on the same machine doesn't work.

  • How do I record sound from my CD/DVD player without other system sounds in the mix?

    Using GoldWave I can record via the "Stereo Mix" channel, but I get no sound on the "CD" channel. Of course, using the stereo mix also mixes in all system sounds, including beeps, etc. I have the analog out on the DVD player connected to the CD-IN connector on the MoBo. I can hear CDs and DVDs playing just fine through my speakers - is this because the CD is also IDE data connection in to deliver the sound to the sound card, then? I specifically want to record a DVD; I can easily rip a CD using GoldWave's built-in ripper. Is there anything I have forgotten or have to enable? Or is it likely I have a damaged cable? My system is an MSI mobo and is running Windows XP SP3.

    How do I granularly increase the various fast-forward/rewind speed/rate for each of the speed settings for skipping through commercials? The current defaults go from barely faster than playback, too fast for unexpectedly short commercials, to omfg its so fast I can't see what is happening. Do people suffer with these defaults, or is there some better setting in the registry, or elsewhere?

    I have a Sony video camera (DCR-TRV340e) and loads of video tapes that I like to transfer to my PC. The camera has USB connection and I've loaded its driver with no problems. Which video software do you recommend me to use? I want to have my videos in XviD format with maximum 1 GB for a 1 hour film. How much time does it take to do that for a 1 hour film?   • Advice on resizing 1280*720 for web audiences.

    Forgive my spelling, I'm posting this from my mobile. I've recently decided to record videos to help teach a visual language. My camera likes to boast it can record in 1280; its a cheap camera about £75 so the quality isn't amazing. But its okay. Anyways, it has some other settings for lower res, but I figure might as well record in a larger size in case the need arises for a bigger source file in the future. I've been looking at jw player to play the converted files (mp4 to flv I think). What do you think a good size would be to convert to? I want to to look nice and clear remembering it is a visual language so lip patterns, facial expressions, body movement, fingers etc are all important, sound is not that important but I would like to have a choice to toggle captions.     Or another similar program? All I want to do is record the sounds coming from say firefox, or any other app, for use as samples in music. I need to do this in both windows and linux (ubuntu 9.10). I have looked through the preferences of audacity but didn't find anything that let me select the system sound. Perhaps I overlooked it, because I was able to do this with earlier versions of audacity.

    My audio input is a mix of my mic output and my sound card output. I'd like it to be just my mic output. I was able to do so in Ubuntu 9.04 but the interface is 9.10 is totally changed and I tried every my creativity was able to think. It's really annoying when talking to other people over the internet because they keep hearing their voice back. I'm not sure I explained it in clear way so I'll give you an example: What I do: I put an mp3 on play or a video on youtube then open a recorder and start to talk on my mic. What happens: both my voice and audio from mp3/youtube get reordered, even if I put headphones volume to 0 (via hardware). What I'd like to happen: Only my voice should be recorded. I'm sure I'm missing some technical term, but that's the problem and I'd like to solve it in Ubuntu 9.10, any idea?

  • Stereo Mix does not work

    Stereo Mix no longer seems to work on my computer -- it did once, but now I am unable to receive any sort of audio from it. When trying to record it with programs such as Audacity, it reports that there is an error opening the sound device. Additionally, I can make no changes whatsoever to Stereo Mix, such as with regards to default format, where it simply reports Format not supported by device. I am sure that Stereo Mix had definitely worked in the past, so does anyone have any idea as to why Stereo Mix would suddenly break? (I have no applications taking exclusive control of Stereo Mix)

However, my headset microphone is quiet at the best of times, and no matter what combination of input and output volume settings I use, my voice is consistently inaudible.   • Microphone doesn't work

    I'm having a trouble with my built in microphone. Even if I use headphone with mic, it doesn't really work. The weird thing is, if I clap the green lines of the speaker icon jumps, but if I speak it doesn't. I have also tried some recordings, but I can not hear myself and adjusting the volume didn't help at all. I tried to restore it, still no change. I have updated it in the device manager, but it said there that it's up to date and the devices are working properly. Until I decided to recover the whole system (wherein I pressed zero and switch on button) to my surprise, the settings became different, most programs were deleted, even my files. It's like it was formatted and I'm so sad that the mic was not fixed. I really don't know what to do now. My laptop model is Toshiba satellite m840. I want to it return to its settings/set up just before I Recover the system and bring back all the programs that we're installed and of course, most of all, to fix my microphone so I can use Skype again and other video calling application.. I hope someone could help me. Thanks a lot!

    I face into this problem and before ask here I've searched and read a lot of question but no-one seems to fit to my problem. I have a server running Windows Server 2008 Web with the SP2 and a headset attached to it using audio jack. The server has audio driver since I can listen audio. This OS does not came with the built-in audio record tool (the one I have in Windows 7). I can access physically and remotely (using RDC) to this server with administration permission. My local pc has Windows 7 if it can help. All I want to do is to know if it's possible and how to record audio form the microphone (of the server) and store that file in the server from remote connection. I tried to install several software on the server but everyone fails with a different issues (missing DLL which if I put in the system the error doesn't go away).
