  • iPhone NSCalendar - Incorrect Calendar Drawn for users outside US

    - by xoail
    After trying to work on someone else's code, and so many different iterations, I am unable to understand what am I doing wrong with dates on a calendar month view. I am trying to present a calendar in month view fashion like calendar.app but unfortunately some users in countries like Australia, UK are reporting incorrect alignment of Days to Dates. For instance in Australia it displays 17th March as Friday. Any help is highly appreciated! Here is the code sample I am using: -(void)setCalendar { NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; NSDateComponents *comps = [gregorian components:units fromDate:[NSDate date]]; self.currentDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents:comps]; NSInteger weekdayInteger=[comps weekday]; currentMonth=[comps month]; currentYear=[comps year]; NSString *dateString=[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",currentDate] substringToIndex:10]; NSArray *array= [dateString componentsSeparatedByString:@"-"]; NSInteger currentDay=[[array objectAtIndex:2] intValue]; currentMonthConstant=currentMonth; currentYearConstant=currentYear; currentDayConstant=currentDay; currentConstantDate=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d/%d/%d",currentDayConstant,currentMonthConstant,currentYearConstant]; currentFirstDay=((8+weekdayInteger-(currentDay%7))%7); if(currentFirstDay==0) currentFirstDay=7; [gregorian release]; } And this is how im populating the calendar: -(void)fillCalender:(NSInteger)month weekStarts:(NSInteger)weekday year:(NSInteger)year { currentMonth=month; currentYear=year; currentFirstDay=weekday; UIButton *temp; NSInteger numberOfDays=[self getNumberofDays:month YearVlue:year]; currentLastDay=(currentFirstDay+numberOfDays-1)%7; if(currentLastDay==0) currentLastDay=7; NSString *monthName=[self getMonth:month]; NSInteger grid=(weekday-1); monthLabel.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %d",monthName,year]; for(int i=1;i<=numberOfDays;i++) { if([frontView isEqualToString:@"view1"]) temp=[arr_View2Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; else temp= [arr_View1Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; [temp setBackgroundImage:nil forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [temp setUserInteractionEnabled:TRUE]; UILabel *aLbl = (UILabel *)[temp viewWithTag:123]; [aLbl setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",i]]; // check for today if(currentDayConstant == i && currentMonthConstant == currentMonth && currentYearConstant == currentYear) { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } else { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:69/255.0 green:2/255.0 blue:71/255.0 alpha:1.0]]; } [temp setTag:i]; grid++; if(grid==35) grid=0; } } And finally viewdidload: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self setCalendar]; // set views [self.view1 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,45,320,232)]; [self.view2 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,277,320,232)]; [self.view addSubview:self.view1]; [self.view addSubview:self.view2]; frontView = @"view2"; [self fillCalender:currentMonth weekStarts:currentFirstDay year:currentYear]; frontView = @"view1"; }

  • getting at a UIButton with the tag property IPhone

    - by dubbeat
    Hey There, I'm having a little trouble using the tag property to access a UIButton UIButton *randomButton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect ]retain]; randomButton.frame = CGRectMake(205, 145, 90, 22); // size and position of button [randomButton setTitle:@"Random" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; randomButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; randomButton.adjustsImageWhenHighlighted = YES; [randomButton addTarget:self action:@selector(getrandom:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; randomButton.reversesTitleShadowWhenHighlighted=YES; randomButton.toggleButton [self.view addSubview:randomButton]; [randomButton release]; randomButton.tag=333; Then later on in code I try to get at the button in the following manner which gives me an error saying Incompatible Objective-C types initializing 'struct UIView *', expected 'struct UIButton *' UIButton *random = [self.view viewWithTag:333]; random.highlighted=NO;

  • New to iPhone SDK: touchesBegan not called

    - by coriolan
    Hi, I created a very very basic iPhone app with File/New Projet/View-Based application. No NIB file there. Here is my appDelegate .h @interface MyAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; MyViewController *viewController; } .m - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } And here is my loadView method in my controller - (void)loadView { CGRect mainFrame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; UIView *contentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:mainFrame]; contentView.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor]; self.view = contentView; [contentView release]; } Now, in order to catch the touchesBegan event, I created a new subclass of UIView: .h @interface TouchView : UIView { } .m - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"Touch detected"); } and modified the second line in my loadView into this : TouchView *contentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:mainFrame]; Why is touchesBegan never called?

  • Changing UITabBarController More Item Colors

    - by Avalanchis
    I have a UITabBarController with a "More" tab whose color scheme I would like to modify. Navigation Controller Nav Bar Colors I've been able to change the background color of the "More" tab's UINavigationController by subclassing the UITabBarController and adding the following code to the ViewDidLoad method: UINavigationController *moreController = self.moreNavigationController; moreController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor redColor]; I would also like to change the Nav controller's text color but have not been able to determine how to accomplish this. Table View Highlight Colors I'd like to disable or change the highlight color for the "More" tab's UITableView. I don't want to disable the ability to select, I just want to change or remove the blue highlight color. I see where I can change the SelectedTextColor property for a UITableViewCell's texLabel, but I'm unsure how or when this needs to be set given I'm not the table view's datasource. Edit View Nav Bar Color When the Edit button is selected, the nav bar at the top reverts to the basic blue color. Is there any way to access this nav bar to change its tint color?

  • Can't change background for UIWebView in iPhone SDK

    - by leon
    Hi, Is there a way to change background color for UIWebView? None of the colors set in IB effect UIWebView behavior: before acctual content is loaded it shows as up as white (causing a white flash between the moment it is loaded and content is rendered). Setting background color programmatically does not do anything either. Here is code: @interface Web_ViewViewController : UIViewController { UIWebView *web; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *web; @end .... (void)viewDidLoad { super viewDidLoad; web.backgroundColor = UIColor blueColor; NSURL *clUrl = NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.apple.com" ; NSURLRequest *req = NSURLRequest requestWithURL:clUrl; web loadRequest:req; } thanks

  • accessing layer from class

    - by Mike
    I am creating a rounded corner UIImageView, but this image is created inside a class, using among other instructions, these following: myImageView.layer.cornerRadius = 20.0; myImageView.layer.masksToBounds = YES; myImageView.layer.borderColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor].CGColor; myImageView.layer.borderWidth = 1.0; but Xcode is yelling at me telling me unknown 'cornerRadius' component of a property unknown 'masksToBounds' component of a property unknown 'borderColor' component of a property unknown 'borderWidth' component of a property I know this code is valid, because I have created images like that before, but never inside a class. Why is this happening? how to solve that? thanks.

  • UIView removeFromSuperView animation delay

    - by Mike
    I have a method which animates one of the subviews of UIWindow and then removes it from UIWindow using removeFromSuperview. But when I put removeFromSuperview after animation block, the animation never shows, because removeFromSuperview removes the UIView from UIWindow before the animation plays :-( How can I delay removeFromSuperview so the animation plays first, and then subview is removed? I tried [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:1]; after animation block but that didn't have desired effect, because animation sleeps too for some reason. My code for this method: - (void) animateAndRemove { NSObject *mainWindow = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.8]; UIView *theView = nil; for (UIView *currentView in [mainWindow subviews]) { if (currentView.tag == 666) { currentView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.8 green:0.8 blue:0.8 alpha:0.0]; theView = currentView; } } [UIView setAnimationTransition: UIViewAnimationTransitionNone forView:theView cache:YES]; [UIView commitAnimations]; //[NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:1]; [theView removeFromSuperview]; }

  • UILabel text doesn't word wrap

    - by iFloh
    Hi, I have a long text string (including \n newline charactersthat I feed into a UILabel for display. The UILabel is dynamically setup to provide sufficient space foor the text. My code looks like this: myText = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@some text: %@ \n \n %@", myText, moreText1, moreText2]; NSLog(@"%@", myText); myLabelSize = [vLabelText sizeWithFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:(15.0)] constrainedToSize:cMaxLabelSize lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; UILabel *lBody = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(cFromLeft, vFromTop, vLabelSize.width, vLabelSize.height)]; lBody.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:(15.0)]; lBody.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; lBody.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; lBody.backgroundColor = [UIColor cyanColor]; [myScrollView addSubview:lBody]; lBody.text = vLabelText; My problem is that the text does not wrap, but truncates after the first line. The \n newlines are ignored. any ideas?

  • How do I change the frame position for a custom MKAnnotationView?

    - by andrei
    I am trying to make a custom annotation view by subclassing MKAnnotationView and overriding the drawRect method. I want the view to be drawn offset from the annotation's position, somewhat like MKPinAnnotationView does it, so that the point of the pin is at the specified coordinates, rather than the middle of the pin. So I set the frame position and size as shown below. However, it doesn't look like I can affect the position of the frame at all, only the size. The image ends up being drawn centered over the annotation position. Any tips on how to achieve what I want? MyAnnotationView.h: @interface MyAnnotationView : MKAnnotationView { } MyAnnotationView.m: - (id)initWithAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier { if (self = [super initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier]) { self.canShowCallout = YES; self.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; // Position the frame so that the bottom of it touches the annotation position self.frame = CGRectMake(0, -16, 32, 32); } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [[UIImage imageNamed:@"blue-dot.png"] drawInRect:rect]; }

  • Setting background views depending on user settings

    - by munchine
    I've got an app where the background needs to be set depending on user preference. The user can change this at any time via settings tab. I've got it working by checking NSUserDefaults in viewWillAppear and setting self.view.backgroundColor. This is really clunky. The right approach (I thought) is to set the background in the root view and for every views that gets on the stack inherit the background. So in viewDidLoad, I've got self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; I would have thought this should work. But all I get is a clear background. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

  • How to manage memory using classes in Objective-C?

    - by Flipper
    This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory. I have narrowed it down to where the crash is occurring: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)aTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Dequeue or create a cell UITableViewCellStyle style = UITableViewCellStyleDefault; UITableViewCell *cell = [aTableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"BaseCell"]; if (!cell) cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:@"BaseCell"] autorelease]; NSString* crayon; // Retrieve the crayon and its color if (aTableView == self.tableView) { crayon = [[[self.sectionArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] getName]; } else { crayon = [FILTEREDKEYS objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } cell.textLabel.text = crayon; if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; return cell; } Here is the getName method: - (NSString*)getName { return name; } name is defined as: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; Now sectionArray is an NSMutableArray with instances of a class that I created Term in it. Term has a method getName that returns a NSString*. The problem seems to be the part of where crayon is being set and getName is being called. I have tried adding autorelease, release, and other stuff like that but that just causes the entire app to crash before even launching. Also if I do: cell.textLabel.text = @"test"; //crayon; /*if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];*/ Then I get no error whatsoever and it all scrolls just fine. Thanks in advance for the help! • Is it possible to change the border color of a UISearchDisplayController's search bar?

    - by prendio2
    I have a UISearchBar added as my table header with the following code. searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:self.tableView.bounds]; searchBar.tintColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:185.0/255 alpha:1.0]; [searchBar sizeToFit]; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchBar; Then I set my UISearchDisplayController up as follows. searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:searchBar contentsController:self]; [searchDisplayController setDelegate:self]; [searchDisplayController setSearchResultsDataSource:self]; Everything functions as I would like except that the UISearchDisplayController has added a blue(ish) border above the search bar — this bar does not recognise the tintColor I have set on the search bar. Is it possible to change the color of this bar? It is obviously not absolutely crucial but that line is going to bug me forever if it stays blue like that!

  • Custom UISwitch & App Store approval

    - by pix0r
    After doing some reading, I've found that you can customize the text and color on a UISwitch control. I'm curious if these methods will cause problems trying to get my app approved and included in the App Store. Sample code taken from iPhone Developer's Cookbook Sample Code: // Custom font, color switchView = [[UICustomSwitch alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; [switchView setCenter:CGPointMake(160.0f,260.0f)]; [switchView setLeftLabelText: @"Foo"]; [switchView setRightLabelText: @"Bar"]; [[switchView rightLabel] setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Georgia" size:16.0f]]; [[switchView leftLabel] setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Georgia" size:16.0f]]; [[switchView leftLabel] setTextColor:[UIColor yellowColor]];

  • UIButton not firing selector if I draw it using CALayer

    - by Horatiu Paraschiv
    Hi everybody I create this button like this: _myButton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom] retain]; DLBadgeLayerDelegate *layerDelegate = [[DLBadgeLayerDelegate alloc] init]; _myButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0 , 0.0, 100.0, 100.0); [_myButton addTarget:self action:@selector(myButtonTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; _myButton.layer.backgroundColor = [[UIColor redColor] CGColor]; _myButton.center = CGPointMake(10.0, 10.0); [self addSubview:_myButton]; [_myButton release]; The button appears on the screen but if I tap on it nothing happens. If I just create a Rounded rect button instead with no custom drawing on its layer or if I just leave the layer line of code out all works well. Do you have any Idea why do I get this behaviour as I would like to do some custom drawing in the button's layer?

  • Darkening UIView while flipping over using UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight

    - by Alexander Repty
    I'm using a standard animation block to flip over from one view to another, like this: [UIView beginAnimations:@"FlipAnimation" context:self]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:self.view cache:NO]; [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:NO]; [containerView exchangeSubviewAtIndex:1 withSubviewAtIndex:0]; [UIView commitAnimations]; During the animation's course, the "from" view darkens as it begins to flip over. Since I'm using nearly identical views on both sides which don't cover the whole view (it's meant to represent a physical card being flipped over), this looks absolutely horrible. Using [UIColor clearColor] as the backgroundColor property for every associated UIView didn't help one bit as transparent areas seem to get darkened as well. Any ideas on how I could get rid of this darkening effect?

  • UIALertView - retreive textfield value from textfield added via code

    - by George
    Here is the code I have to create an UIalertView with a textbox. UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Enter A Username Here" message:@"this gets covered!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Dismiss" otherButtonTitles:@"OK!", nil]; UITextField *myTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12, 45, 260, 25)]; CGAffineTransform myTransform = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0, 60); [alert setTransform:myTransform]; alert.tag = kAlertSaveScore; [myTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [alert addSubview:myTextField]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [myTextField release]; My question is, how do I get the value from the textfield in: - (void) alertView:(UIAlertView *) actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { } I know I can get the standard stuff for the alertview such as actionSheet.tag and such, but how would I get the above created textfield? Thanks in advance for any and all help. Geo...
