• Labels mail merge repeats on subsequent pages?

  I'm trying to do a mail merge to print to labels. The first field in the document does not contain a { NEXT } field code, and because of this the records repeat between label pages for example: Notice how the records shift to the left as the next page is displayed? But how they start over again in an off by one manner? Now I've tried to fix this by using the first record displayed on a page to see if the page number is 1. If it not on page 1 of the mail merge then it should just move to the next record; otherwise it should just display the first record: This doesn't work however, because when I do the preview and display the {page} field code, it reports that I am always on page 1 and thus the same behavior continues instead of just moving to the next record on the next page.

• Crontab - stop sending mail, special case ||

  Hi all, I need to put into my crontab small command, which is checking, if lighttpd web server is running, for some reason it hangups sometimes. So I got there: * * * * * root /bin/pgrep lighttpd || /usr/local/etc/rc.d/lighttpd restart >/dev/null 2>&1 problem is, this send me mail every minute, in the mail is number of PID of lighttpd, which is running. For other crontab job, redirection work, so I assume, when is there "||", it makes problem. maybe there should be better to rewrite crontab job, so it uses exit status of pgrep, so I can avoid "||". I am using FreeBSD. Thanks for any help, for now I disabled this job

• Fonts and encoding in windows live mail.

  Sometimes I have non-english emails (arabic for example). When I try to open them with windows live mail, it doesn't show them correctly.. for example such this: &1588;&1603;&1585;&1575; &1610;&1575;&1605;&1575;&1606; (I changed it a bit to show here as I want) I had a look at options, there was encoding on arabic(windows) but I didn't find anything else. When I open this mail on yahoo however, there is no problem. What can I do?

• Making A Photo-Sharing App For Android In Eclipse [on hold]

  I've only just started developing mobile apps, which is something that I've been wanting to learn for a while now. I'm from an indie games studio, making PC games for around the last 3 years, and I finally decided to move into android app development. The only problem I'm having is that I don't know where to start. The project which I'm aiming to create will be something similar to Instagram, basically a photo-sharing app which allows users to take new photos, or pull them from their device, and add filters to them, before posting them. I have a rough idea of how I could go about doing this, but I need pointing towards any tutorials available for each specific step. So, here's my idea: Create a UI in eclipse (this wont be a problem for me, I should be able to do this fine through xml files) Setup a server-side database to store all user info and uploaded images (the images will need to be converted into byte arrays, and I have no idea how to do this through a database). My best idea would be to use a MySQL database to do this. Add user interactions (likes, favourites, reposts, etc.). This would, again, have to be stored in the database (or, at least, i think it would). Add the ability to take new photos using the phone's camera (I can probably do this anyway, using the Camera API). Add the ability to pull existing photos from the device (again, pretty simple to do). Add the ability to add filters to any photos (I had a look around, and there are some repos and resources which allow you to do this, but they're mainly for iOS development). Add facebook/twitter integration (possibly) to allow phots to be shared to other social networks. Create a news feed which shows users all of the latest photos from their friends, and allows them to post their own images to it. Give all registered users their own wall/page which has their latest posts/images displayed on it. Add the ability to allow users to follow other users, and display their followed users posts on their news feed. Yep. It's not going to be easy, and I don't even know if it's possible for me to do alone in Eclipse. However, this is the plan, and I'm going to do my best to learn everything I need to know to do this successfully. My actual question would be how should I start doing this- where do I begin learning how to do all of this? I've had a look at snapify, which can be edited via Parse, but I won't be spending hundreds of dollars (since I'm 15 and just don't have the available funds) on software. I have extensive knowledge of Java (again, I've been making games for around 3 years, mainly in Java), and various scripting languages. So, hopefully, this will be of some use here.   i have used a mail function. after inserting every record simultaneously from multiple PC. • Mail reaches only after closing connection

  I have setup a postfix mail server with saslauthd. I telnet from a windows machine to send a mail. All works fine, I even get the msg 250 Mail queued for delivery. On the mailserver I see connect msgs on /var/log/mail.log for connection but not for the mail queuing or delivery. Only after I close the telnet connection I get all the valid msgs in mail.log. The mail also doesnt arrive in my Maildir/new directory until I close the connection. I am very new to Ubuntu, any pointers will be much appreciated. Many thanks.

  Hello! I am using phpmailer class to send email and i am attaching a file to the mail. The email is sent successfully but the attachment which is an sql file is empty which should not be the case. I have tried with an image file, but it seems that every file that i attach is empty. • How do I get the application title of a Google AppEngine app from within that app

  Under the application settings page in the Administration console, it is possible to specify a name for the application, AFAIK this is used in the login page when using the users API to login. I would like to be able to use this information within an application, currently, the title is also specified in a separate configuration file, but configuration repetition is something I would like to avoid if at all possible. Is there some way for a GAE application to determine the "Application Title"? Oh, also, I am using python.

  I have a Linux server that has local mail service. There are few user accounts on this server. User may send the mail to each other but that only restrict to LAN environment only. For example, I may # mail user1 to send mail to user1. User are not able to send mail to public. Some service like hylafax using this local mail service to send notification of fax status. I don't want to manage and maintain local mail service anymore. I have subscribed a package from ISP to host a public domain of my own. I wish to have my hylafax service to able to send the notification mails to public mail server, is that possible to do it? It is great if all mails that send to local mail server may forward to public mail server. That makes the local mail service serve mail forward only.

Everything code wise is staying exactly the same but I just want it to go to the new domain. • App Engine charges in November 2011 [closed]

  I had a billing enabled test application on Google App Engine left over from early 2011. I have not received a bill in many months because I have not been hitting the URL and according to the activity monitor, nobody has. Then unexpectedly in November 2011, I received 2 bills in as many weeks for quite minimal amounts. Checking the monitor it looks like nobody has been hitting the URL and according to the SQL-like search, there is nothing in the Datastore. I know that GAE has left the "preview" in recent weeks but I am not sure how that would affect what is essentially a dormant application with no Datastore objects. Has GAE started charging for completely unused applications in recent weeks? Edit: Most of my applications were already disabled and I have just disabled the only one that was enabled but unused the past several months. If I get another bill next week that should be informative.

• Sending mail through local MTA while domain MX records point to Google Apps

  My domain's email is managed by Google Apps, so that domain users get Gmail and Calendar, etc. But I also want to be able to send applicative notifications to users outside the domain via email (e.g. "some commented on your post", and so on). However, if I try to send email through code I get blocked by Gmail after a few emails. I send marketing email through MailChimp, to minimize the risk of appearing as spam to my users (one-click unsubscribe, etc.). But I can't send applicative message in this way. I want to install a local MTA (my server runs Ubuntu), but I'm not sure what anti-spam measures I need to implement so that receiving MTAs don't think it's a spam server. What's stopping anyone from setting up a mail server and sending emails using my domain name? AFAIK it's the DNS records that show the MTA's address actually belongs to the domain. But my understanding of this is rather superficial, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But what sort of DNS configuration do I need to put in place so that I don't get blacklisted (assuming I don't actually spam anyone)? The MX records already point to Google, and I'd like to keep it this way. So do I just need to define an A record for my internal mail server? Should it show email as coming from a sub-domain, so as not to conflict with the bare domain being managed by google? Edit: Does the following SPF record make sense if I want email from my domain name to be sent by either google's servers or any server with a dns name ending with mydomain.com? "v=spf1 ptr mx:google.com mx:googlemail.com ~all" How should I set up reverse DNS for my server? If I have an A record that points mailsender.mydomain.com to my MTA's ip address, does it mean that reverse lookup will only allow emails sent from [email protected]?

  I have currently set up my web application on Amazon EC2 server. As a well known fact sending email from EC2 has a problem. As a cheap and long lasting solution instead of using "authsmtp" is it possible to rent a server and use it as a Mail Server? I am currently looking for cheap hosting which will give me root access so that it can be configured and used as a relayhost. I am curently using Postfix as MTA. Has any one implemented this before? I am curious about its feasibility of this solution. I guess common requirements are: 1: Dedicated IP which is not black listed. 2: Open relay( open to my Server only) Any Tips for Header configurations to keep the mails out of spam folder. This is like exactly cloning authsmtp for personal use. Any suggestions for other Mail Server software instead of Postfix? Another problem is Reverse DNS for this server. Should PTR entry be present if a server is used as a relayhost?
