  • Asp.net Report Viewer - Custom filter parameters

    Hi all, for a data warehouse project I need to know about some best practices regarding custom report viewer filters/parameters. Usually I use the standard parameter feature for reports, like multiple select boxes, check boxes, text boxes etc.. But for the current project some reports require more complex report parameters. E.g. a user wants to analyze some measures. For that the user needs to set a filter on a specific address. There are over 100.000 address to choose from, so he has to have the ability to search for an address (full text). Since such features cannot be done with the standard parameters, I will have to create custom params within a ASPX page which are then passed to the report viewer control. So my question is: Are there any best practices on how to create custom parameters? Did anyone had similar problems, if so, how did you solve it?

    I am working on a software product with an integrated log file viewer. Problem is, its slow and unstable for really large files because it reads the whole file into memory when you view a log file. I'm wanting to write a new log file viewer that addresses this problem. What are the best practices for writing viewers for large text files? How does editors like notepad++ and VIM acomplish this? I was thinking of using a buffered Bi-directional text stream reader together with Java's TableModel. Am I thinking along the right lines and are such stream implementations available for Java?

  • Internet connection issue

    For some reason this laptop doesn't want to stay connected to the Internet... I have to restart the DHCP client service every time to fix the connection problem. Could someone tell me whats going on because I didn't have to usually do this? And I'm not sure if these problems are connected but the sound also disconnects itself and I have to enable it back, but everything that was using audio has to be restarted in order to hear it, even the browser? There are no external speakers and I didn't install any new software. My laptop is an XPS M1530, running Windows Vista.

  • Install Win7 on Dell XPS1730: CD Driver missing

    Vista crashed on my DELL XPS 1730 laptop. Again. I deleted the RAID array, created a new one and started to install Window 7 from DVD. During the initial phase of installation the setup pop ups this: Load Driver: A required CD/DVD device driver is missing... I can then insert other media to load the drivers, but it can't find any. I checked the DELL site for drivers but I can only find firmware for the drive. Which driver do I need, and where can I download it?

  • BSOD During Windows 7 Install

    I current have a working XP partition a Dell XPS m1330 laptop along with a working Ubuntu partition. After launching the Windows 7 install DVD from within XP I run through the options for a custom install on a free NTFS partition. Everything seemingly works as it should and then my computer restarts. After choosing to boot into the newly created Windows partition I am given the Windows 7 splash screen only to be followed by the BSOD. Here are the stop codes from the BSOD: stop: 0x0000007b (0x80D86B58,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x0000000) Googling this tells me that it indicates an 'inaccessable boot drive'. Is it possible that its having problems booting from this partition due to the other existing partitions? I'm thinking that there may be a windows recovery CD workaround this but I am not quite proficient in its capabilities. This is what happens when I try to install by booting from the DVD

  • Is it possible to use Google Docs Viewer to view files already in Google Docs?

    The title is a little confusing. I'll elaborate. As far as I can tell, the Google Docs Viewer tool accepts a link to a raw document file (e.g. .doc, .pdf, et. al.), and renders its contents in the browser. For example, this url to a pdf http://research.google.com/archive/bigtable-osdi06.pdf when passed to Viewer, returns this link: http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fresearch.google.com%2Farchive%2Fbigtable-osdi06.pdf What I'm trying to achieve is, use the Viewer to view a document already hosted in Google Docs (i.e. no longer a raw document file). When passing a link to a Google Docs document to the Viewer, the result is not as expected. It renders the link's HTML source instead of the document's contents. The reason I want to do this is that I want to be able to use the "embed" feature of Viewer to view Google Docs documents. Does Google Docs have a "link to embeddable view" feature? P.S. Here is a sample snippet to an embedded document.     I found the following error message when I checked View source of the web page , but the web page works just fine. Our Test lead found the error while performing Assertion tests. Note:There is a div tag around this error message which has style="display:none" I am trying to find out why but everybody has only discussed this error message as one which is thrown in the webpage. I would like that these software would have some of these features: -Syntax highlight according to the severity of the exceptions. -Tree view for stack traces and nested exceptions. Bonus point: -Alarm when certain pattern is matched.

    Hi, One of my most valuable software tools has always been Norton DiskEdit from Norton Utilities/Symantec Systemworks. I have used it for years for so many things, including, but not limited to learning file-systems. I am now in search of a similar tool that can let me view FAT and NTFS disks at a low and high level under Windows. I have seen Runtime Software’s DiskExplorer, but unfortunately, it is limited in a number of ways, particularly annoying is that it does not really let you view the disk as structured (it does not let you see directory entries from a directory that is fragmented like DiskEdit can without doing a too-exhaustive scan which doesn’t even work for FAT partitions that have cluster sizes <4KB). Does anyone know of a Windows alternative of a Norton DiskEditor? Thanks a lot.

I have 3 gmail accounts & 1 yahoo account. In windows, I use Microsoft outlook or microsoft outlook express. But In mac is there any inbuilt software for it ? If not, is that any freely available mail client for mac osx ? ----------------------- 2 ---------------------------- One more thing, My system administrators has banned regular gmail & yahoo sites. Means I can't use gmail or yahoo site for mailing. Ok. I don't want to break my office rules - but what about my mails on gmail & yahoo, they are really very important for me.   • PDF rendering of images seems to vary from viewer to viewer with blurring?

    I'm generating PDF figures in Adobe Illustrator CS5 that include embedded images. I've noticed that the images look dramatically different when I display the same PDF in Preview, Skim or Adobe Reader (I'm on OS X). See screenshots. Adobe Reader displays them "correctly" while Skim and Preview blurs the image out each in a different way. Is there a setting I can set when saving my PDF from Illustrator so that the images are displayed correctly in Skim and Preview? The PDF was generated in Illustrator and saved without any compression or downsampling.   • Assisting a user using VNC

    I'm trying to help a friend with their computer remotely. He has a version of VNC, I'm not sure which one, so I downloaded and installed the VNC Viewer and Listening Viewer. I ask my friend for his IP address and port number, and he tells me that every time he's used it, the person giving him assistance (remotely controlling his computer) gave him some kind of number. I should note that my friend is not tech savy, and it may have been an IP address, but I'm not sure. What kind of number would the user be looking for? Does this indicate his version of VNC, Does that even matter? I am completly forign to VNC and don't know where to begin looking for an answer myself, and (for whatever reason) I can't ask my friend to figure out what version of VNC he is using.

    I'm looking for a solution that allows multiple persons to put plan and notify their vacation by putting it in their electronic calendar and invite a dedicated "robot" email. On the other side I should be able to get a quick overview of the vacation for each person and do a print out that allows me to put it on a board. Example: John puts his winter vacation for week 7 into his calendar and invite [email protected]. Ben does the same thing for week 4 and 5 and invites [email protected]. Dilbert host the [email protected] and prints out and overview for the next 3 months. Each person's vacation is either stated by name or/and color on the print out. I would like to do the thing with standard business software like Outlook 2010 without installing too many softwares. But at the same time it should be easy and quick to make the print outs without too much fiddling Am I dreaming ?

    I would like to install a quad core computer in my dorm at college and use my much slower laptop to be able to control the quad core just as if I had a quad core laptop (control as in i see the gui, not command line control)!     I have been asked at work to find a solution to one of our problems. We have several logs that customers need access to, because we don't want to give them direct access to the folder/share we are looking to implement a simple Web based solution that permits customers to login see a list of files they have permissions to and download the file. It would need to be able to setup permissions so User01 can see file01 and file03 and User02 can see file04 and file06, optimally all the files would be under the same folder, so permissions are based on files rather then based on folders.     I've been sent a DVD which needs to be put onto a website, but I honestly don't even know where to start. Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online? I'm really sorry for the vague question, but I want to produce the best quality results, with good compression, good quality and a nice video player interface.
