    I'm storing a lot of sorted ~10 row 2 column/key value pairs in ASP.NET cache-- they're the data for dropdownlists. Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset). Old Code DataTable table = dataAccess.GetDataTable(); dropDownList.DataSource = table; Hoped for new Code Unknown data = dataAccess.GetSomethingMoreSpaceEfficient(); dropDownList.DataSource = data; What pre-existing datastructures are similar enough to DataTable that would minimize code breakage and reduce the serialized size when stored in ASP.NET cache?

  • Some way of getting just the data part from a web service returning a DataTable?

    I'm using an external web service that returns a DataTable. There's a couple of problems with this. The first is that there are over 20,000 columns, and .Net crashes when trying to convert the xml to a DataTable. I have to use Mono to make this work. The other problem is that it takes a lot of time to fetch all the column information. The columns "never" changes (and when they do, I know about it in advance). I would like to just fetch the data part, and load the schema from a local file. I very much doubt this is possible, but I thought I could ask here just in case.

    How do you encode a javascript object/hash (pairs of properties and values) into a URL-encoded query string with YUI (2.7.0 or 3.0.0 Beta) ? I want to do the equivalent of Object.toQueryString() from Prototype: I need this to encode parameters for GET and POST requests with YAHOO.util.Connect. It turns out YAHOO.util.Connect has a setForm() method to serialize a form but that still leaves me out cold to encode parameters for GET requests, or the 4th parameter of YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest() to pass post data.

    Hi, I'm problem with defining a mouse over effect for my datatables. I have <a4j:form> <rich:dataTable id="dataTable"> ... </rich:dataTable> <rich:datascroller id="dataScroller" for="dataTable" /> </a4j:form> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseover(function(){jQuery(this).addClass('active-row')})"/> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseout(function(){jQuery(this).removeClass('active-row')})"/> which are working fine on the very first page. However if I use the datascroller to goto another page, the mouseover effect is gone. I've tried reRendering the table or the jQuery components, that didn't help with the problem at all. Any suggestion on how I can get this working? Thanks!

    In jQuery, when I want to show or hide something, I do this: $('#elementId').show(); $('#elementId').hide(); How do I do this with YUI? I've tried YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').hide(), asked my co-workers, looked at the documentation, and searched Google, and I've found nothing helpful. From the documentation, it looks like this should work YAHOO.util.Dom.get('elementId').setStyle('display', 'none') but of course it does not. All I can think of is this, which sucks because then I'm not using a framework: document.getElementById('elementId').style.display = 'none';

  • YUI Autocomplete: itemSelectEvent getting lost with IE6 and IE7?

    I'm using YUI Autocomplete (latest version loaded using loader as of today (May 14th, 2010), which looks to be 2.8.1, with the following options: ac = new YAHOO.widget.AutoComplete("mynode", "autocomp_node", ac_ds, {typeAhead: true, forceSelection: true}); ac.itemSelectEvent.subscribe( function(type, args) { alert("hey:" + args[2][1]); $('#parent_id').val(args[2][1]); }); The itemSelectEvent catches selections in AutoComplete and fills in some data on the parent. This works on FF, Chrome, Safari, and IE8. On IE6 and IE7, however, the event never seems to trigger. To replicate: In the autocomplete field, allow it to autofill for you, then hit enter. This should select the autofill and move on to the next field (that's what it does in other browsers). With IE6 and IE7 it seems to instead trigger the form submission - the itemSelectEvent never fires (or perhaps fires after the form submission?). Has anyone seen this? Any work-arounds?

If I want to access a particular row, I suspect I need to lock that operation (I could be mistaken about this, but at least I know this way I'm safe): // this is a strongly-typed table OrdersRow row = null; lock (orderTable.Rows.SyncRoot) { row = orderTable.FindByOrderId(myOrderId); } But then, if I want to update that row, should I lock the table (or rather, the table's Rows.SyncRoot object) again, or can I simply lock the row?

    Hello, I have an ObjectDataSource with an ID of ObjectDataSource1 on a webpage. I also have a gridview in which I am binding the ObjectDataSource.ID to the GridView.DataSourceID. The problem I get is when text is changed in a textbox, the code calls BrokerageTransactions.GetAllWithDt which returns a DataTable. I want to set this datatable as the DataSource for the GridView, but it is telling me that I can't set the DataSouce and DataSourceId together. How can I fix this? Code is below. Also.   • Javascript Selectbox refresh necessary in YUI 3, when selecting none?

    Hi all, I'm using YUI 3 to let someone click "Select All" or "Select None" and then have the selectbox select all the items or unselect all of them, respectively. Here's my code: // This selects all Y.on('click',function (e) { selectBoxNode.get("options").each(function () { this.removeAttribute('selected'); this.setAttribute('selected','selected'); }); }, selectAllNode ); // This selects none Y.on('click',function (e) { selectBoxNode.get("options").each(function () { this.setAttribute('selected','false'); this.removeAttribute('selected'); }); selectBoxNode.('selectedIndex',-1); }, selectNoneNode ); selectAllLink, selectNoneLink, and selectBoxNode are self-evident, properly returned Nodes. Update: selectAll works, I had to manually remove the 'selected' attribute for each and re-add it. The selectNoneLink doesn't work: it unselects only the elements that weren't before selected... although DOM inspection shows that the selectedIndex attribute is indeed changed to -1, so maybe it needs a refresh? Any help would be appreciated. If this happens in all frameworks, that would be nice to know as well. Thanks!

    I am trying to perform a LINQ query on a DataTable and show the result in another DataTable. My source DataTable looks something like this: DataTable myDataTable = new DataTable(); myDataTable.Columns.Add("OrderID", typeof(int)); myDataTable.Columns.Add("Date", typeof(DateTime)); myDataTable.Columns.Add("UnitsPurchased", typeof(int)); The resulting DataTable looks like this when filled: Order ID Date Units Purchased 16548 10/15/09 250 17984 11/03/09 512 20349 01/11/10 213 34872 01/15/10 175 My current LINQ query looks like this: IEnumerable<DataRow> query = (from row in myDataTable.AsEnumerable() where row.UnitsPurchased > 200 select new { row.OrderID, row.Date, row.UnitsPurchased }) as IEnumerable<DataRow>; resultDataTable.DataSource = query.CopyToDataTable<DataRow>(); Every time I run this code query is null. I can see that that the as IEnumerable<DataRow> is the culprit, but it makes no since to me since DataTable.AsEnumerable() returns an IEnumerable<DataRow>. Any help would be appreciated.

    In a JSF 2.1 + PrimeFaces 3.2 web application, I need to trigger a JavaScript function after a p:dataTable is loaded. I know that there is no such event in this component, so I have to find a workaround. In order to better understand the scenario, on page load the dataTable is not rendered. It is rendered after a successful login: <p:commandButton value="Login" update=":aComponentHoldingMyDataTable" action="#{loginBean.login}" oncomplete="handleLoginRequest(xhr, status, args)"/> As you can see from the above code, I have a JavaScript hook after the successful login, if it can be of any help. Immediately after the oncomplete action has finished, the update attribute renders the dataTable: <p:dataTable var="person" value="#{myBean.lazyModel}" rendered="#{p:userPrincipal() != null}" /> After the datatable is loaded, I need to run a JavaScript function on each row item, in order to subscribe to a cometD topic. In theory I could use the oncomplete attribute of the login Button for triggering a property from myBean in order to retrieve once again the values to be displayed in the dataTable, but it doesn't seem very elegant. The JavaScript function should do something with the rowKey of each row of the dataTable: function javaScriptFunctionToBeTriggered(rowKey) { // do something }
