• Xap file contents changes if built in Visual Studio or build server

  I'm using MEF with my Silverlight 4 app to dynamically load xap files. To optimize this process, I've removed various assemblies from my xaps since I know they've already been loaded by the base xap. This reduces the size of my dynamically loaded xaps. I accomplished this by setting the "Copy Local" flag for each assembly reference to "false". This all seems to work fine when I build in Visual Studio 2010 - my xaps are much smaller. However, when the same projects are built by the build server, all the excluded references are once again in the xap file hence tripling the size of the xap. I've read several blogs/articles regarding similar experiences but no resolution. Very frustrating - any help is appreciated.

• Killing the mysqld process

  I have a table with ~800k rows. I ran an update users set hash = SHA1(CONCAT({about eight fields})) where 1; Now I have a hung Sequel Pro process and I'm not sure about the mysqld process. This is two questions: What harm can possibly come from killing these programs? I'm working on a separate database, so no damage should come to other databases on the system, right? Assume you had to update a table like this. What would be a quicker / more reliable method of updating without writing a separate script. I just checked with phpMyAdmin and it appears as though the query is complete. I still have Sequel Pro using 100% of both my cores though...

• Flex 4.5 - to long build process

  We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

  Hi guys, I have started to work on a site without url rewriting. Now, the request is to use friendly urls so i started to use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter. Let's take an example: I have a method: public static string getCategoriesIndexLink(string category) { string baseUrl = getBaseUrl() + (String)HttpContext.GetGlobalResourceObject("Paths", "categorii.index"); return baseUrl.AddQueryParam(CQueryStringParameters.CATEGORY, category); } which build this kind of urls "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=$1" Now i've added the following rule in web.config: <rewrite url="~/Site/Categorii/(.+)" to="~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=$1" /> The question is HOW i can make the above method to build that kind of nice url? So no longer return "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=m1" but "~/Site/Categorii/m1" without beeing needed to modify its structure? I mean, i have about 30 methods like the one from the above; it would be extremely helpfull if i can be guided to use a regex at the output of the methods iso modifying the url construction... • TFS no release folder in build folder

  I have a tfs build that works fine on the client, but when executed on the server, no actual binaries get created. When I go to the folder: \[MyServer]\builds[BuildName], I see BuildLog.txt ErrorsWarningsLog.txt Release.txt I expect to see a big \Release folder full of my dlls, but I get nothing. The error log reports no problems up until we ask the build to copy the binaries to our staging server. If I comment those out, I get no errors. CustomizableOutDir is true, DropLocation is set to something sensible BuildDirectoryPath is set to something sensible But no matter what, I just don't get any dlls built. Our local TFS guy is baffled too. Any suggestions?

  I am developing a java app and I need to use jnativehook library. I have downloaded the .zip from https://code.google.com/p/jnativehook/downloads/list . There is a bin folder,src folder,build.xml,build.num and 3 .txt files when I extracted this folder. • Visual Studio WCF Application now asking to manually attach to process

  I have a console app that is calling a WCF app hosted in IIS. Up until now everything has been fine and I am able to debug the app - step through it without any problems... Until I added my dev pc to a domain.... now every time I get step into the code hosted in IIS, a popup comes up asking if I would like to attach to this process... I can then continue debugging... again not a huge train smash - however... now it randomly just jumps to the end of the process (almost like some kind of timeout) and I am not able to reliably step and debug the IIS hosted code.... Any ideas? All the projects are in the same solution, and all running on the local dev pc... Using Visual Studio 2008, dev PC is Win 7

  I have WPF Application. My Application consist of 2 exe files: Notifier.exe and MainApp.exe. Notifier is system tray popup application which check the remote server in equal intervals and get the list of current documents of user. When user click on one of the documents in list in Notification popup I open MainApp.exe and show required document in new tab. But When user click on another document in list it open new MainApp.exe process. Question: How Can I connect specific (already opened) process in the operating system and create some object in it?

• Reading a file used by another process

  I know this has been up for discussion but I can't find an answer to my specific problem. I am monitoring a text file that is being written to by a server program. Every time the file is changed the content will be outputted to a window in my program. The problem is of course, that I can't use the Streamreader on the file as it is being "used by another process". Also setting up a Filestream with ReadWrite won't do any good since I cannot control the process that is using the file. However... You CAN open the file in notepad, so somehow it must be possible to access it even though the server is using it. Is there a good way around this? Should I monitor the file, make a temp copy of it when it changes, read the temp copy and the delete the temp copy. I need to get hold of the text in the file whenever the server changes it.

  Situation:I have an ASP .NET application that will search through docs using Lucene. I want to run the initial indexing (the index will be incremental after the initial run so there wont be need to index the whole directory again in future). Currently, I have about 5GB of docs (45000files). Problem: My application times out before completing the process. I have altered the TimeOut like this: HttpContext.Current.Server.ScriptTimeout = 200000; but it still does not complete the process. How can I run the index?

• Script.PostDeployment.sql not executing in CI build VS 2010

  I have a database project in VS 2010 (SQL 2008). The local Deploy Solution action works and executes all of the SQL in the Script.PostDeployment.sql file. When I check changes in, the Build Definition for the continuous integration server executes. The database is deployed into the CI environment, but the PostDeployment script doesn't get executed. I wasn't able to find anything specific to this particular scenario. I also expect I'll need to provide additional information unless this is a trivial problem that I missed somewhere. Additional Information: The build is executing vsdbcmd.exe to deploy. The deployment manifest references the PostDeployment.sql file and it's present in the path with the rest of the files.   Hello, I have a windows form that has a simple menu and performs a simple operation, I want to be able to create another windows form with all the functionality of a menu bar, message pump etc.. as a seperate process so I can then share the results of the operation to the second window. I.E. 1) Form A opens Form B opens as a separate process 2)Form A performs operation 3)Form A passes results via memory to Form B 4)Form B display results I'm confused as to how to go about it, the main app runs fine but i'm not sure how to add a second window if the first one already exists. • Oracle data provider hangs IIS worker process when web site is stopped

  We're experiencing a nasty issue in Oracle 11g Release 2 where the w3wp process takes over and entire processor core, and debugging shows that the Oracle data provider is throwing ThreadAbortExceptions infinitely. A developer found this issue by doing the following: 1) Browse a web site that uses Oracle data connections locally (http://localhost/OracleWebSite) - we use IIS, not the ASP.NET dev server, for all of our sites. This ensures that the w3wp process is running and that an active Oracle pool of connections exists in the app pool. 2) Stop the web site (or perform a Rebuild All operation in Visual Studio on the web site in question). Our Oracle connection handling in the affected applications (all Oracle web apps) is well-established and robust. This issue does not occur if we disable connection pooling. This issue does not occur in Oracle 11g Release 1.

  Hi, I am required to create a custom Process Template on using VSTS 2010 Beta 1. Given that I did not use templates in VSTS 2008 I am not even sure where to start. The TFS and VS 2010 are all installed and configured. First I tried to create a test project and selected a built-in template "MSF for Agile Software etc." I wanted to try to modify (customize) it to begin with but was not sure how to do it. I searched high and low but could not find a sample/walkthrough/hint/help on how to develop a process template from scratch. Sorry for the messy explanation but I am kind of VERY frustrated...

  Hello, I've asked this before but I was hoping for another answer and perhaps some code samples because I've been having a difficult time with this. I have an asp.net page. The user hits the "Run" button and I have code IN AN ASSEMBLY, not in the APP_CODE folder that is called and runs a long process that moves product info from a file into the database. While the user waits, I would like them to see status updates like what product the import process in on and status info. I'm assuming I'd break off into another thread and use Ajax but I have no idea how to do this. Some code samples would be very helpful, thanks.

  Hi, I have created a main android project using "android" utility. e.g. android create project --target 1 --name MyApp --path C:\testandroid\myui --activity LaunchActivity --package com.myui.activity build.xml got generated fine (has ant targets like debug, release etc) I generated a test android project (which depends on main project). I used "android" utility to do that. e.g. android create test-project --path C:\testandroid\myuitest --main ..\myui --name MfAppTest build.xml got generated but incorrect (does not have targets like run-tests). It has same targets as main project. Can someone help as where is the problem? Thx. Ashley

Desired result <bank_info>Chase</bank_info> What I have is attr = 'bank_info' builder = Builder::XmlMarkup.new builder.attr { |x| x << 'bank_info' } # does not work I can try making the whole thing as a giant string and eval that. But evaling is not that safe. Is there a better option that I am missing.

  There's a Java library that I would like to use in my project. My project uses Maven to pull in dependencies and it works great for everything except this one library. The problem is, this library never has releases. The author maintains the source in a Subversion repository and only makes changes in trunk.   Hello, just a quickie (or maybe not:] ): Is it possible to get somehow list of running applications/processes and, while running in background, check which process is active? Additionally - if somehow, the answer was yes, is it possible to react for change of active window / application react just as if it was Event, or bind to it custom event (e.g. Event.SystemActiveAppChange)? Thank you for answers as well as pointers. EDIT: Due to probable missunderstanding, I mean local applications - on your win/mac/linux machine - I would like to (in process of learning of language) track what apps I use the most, make a little graph maybe? So, the point is: in AIR app, developed in FLEX, I would like to get/list all running applications/processes, as well as which one is active (on user's PC/Mac/Linux)
