    I have a div which contains several elements: <div class="menuItem designMenu" id="dMenu"> <ul class="menuList menu"> <li class="menuHeader">Design</li> <li class="projectHeader">Mother</li> <li class="projectBody">Some text here</li> <li class="more">More</li> </ul> </div> I need to get the height of the dMenu items that I can animate it upwards, including all the content inside. My Javascript currently: var designHeight = $("#dMenu").height(); Returns nothing. I've tried offsetHeight, scrollHeight, and everything else Google turns up. I'm running the JQuery at the end of the body, inside a document ready function. The reason to get the height to animate, instead of doing it manually, is that a: I'd like to learn how and b: I don't yet know how many items will be int he div. Thanks.

    Hello, A lot of what I have learned about VB I learned from using Static Code Analysis (Particularly Aivosto's Project Analyzer). And one one of things it checks for is whether or not you cleared all objects and arrays. I used to just do this blindly because PA said so. But now that I know a little bit more about the way VB releases resources, it seems to me that these things should be happening automatically. Is this a legacy feature from pre VB6, or is there a reason why you should explicitly set objects back to nothing and use Erase on arrays?

    I'm working through a small file upload script (learning experience) and I noticed that when selecting microsoft office related files (.doc or .docx for example) the file objects do not have a type specified: For .doc files I had expected the type to be "application/msword" and along the same train of thought .docx to be "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document". In the cases when the type cannot be determined is the correct course of action to look at the file extension and match that to the "expected" content / mime type?   • Calling a function from a ajax response content

    Hi guys. I have a function when the page is ready. <script> $(function(){ function do_ajax(){ do some stuff } });.... This works great on that page. Then I make a .post call and load the response into a div. The response has a <script>$(selector).click(function(){ do_ajax(); });</script> with the result. I get an error "do_ajax() is undefined". How can I call do_ajax() from an event from the ajax content? Another one. I am using jquery ui datepicker. So, when the page is loaded, I invoke the $(".datepicker").datepicker(); This works great on that page. Then I make a .post call and load the response into a div. The response has a couple of .datepicker fields. The problem is that the newly loaded datepicker fields don't get the calendar unless I return <script>$(".datepicker").datepicker();</script> with the result. Is that how you guys do it or is there another way? Thanks!

    I'm trying to use javascript to give three divs a negative top position equal to their height. In addition (if possible), I'd like the negative position to take into account the height of a content being generated using the css :after psuedo-property, though I can always manually add that in to the calculation if javascript has no way to access that. EDIT: Added a test page link.   • How to let short content pages reach the bottom of the browser window and then a footer should appea

    In this case, I've developed a CSS code for this web application ..and sometimes the resulting data is too small and the footer of the site appears in the middle of the page and looks odd. I'd like to push that whitespace of the background to the browser's bottom and then followed by a footer. AND if the page is long, that text won't get overlapped by the footer. Can someone help me out with this code right here?   • Content Container Overlaps Menu?

    I'm currently working on a Joomla template using CSS divs. I have a header set up with our logo image in a div floated to the left, an adspace floated to the right, and the menu bar on the bottom. My content is divided into three div columns that are contained in "container.": the left column is floated left, the center is not floated, and the right is floated to the right.     I have the following CSS code .editable:before { content: url(../images/icons/icon1.png); padding-right:5px; } this is used in conjuntion with the following markup: <span class="editable"></span> In every other blessed browser in the world my icon is appearing, but IE8 seems to have a problem with this. Isn't the :before pseudo-element CSS2? isn't content: also a CSS2 command? what gives?

    I have to design a website where user can update their status, just like facebook and twitter and other social networking sites. Now my requirement is to refresh the feed with new user updates. Ex: when the new status comes facebook automatically add that on the top of the feed. on the other hand twitter shows the number of updates which is ready to be load. both ways are acceptable to me Now, I have to decide what is the best way to achieve this functionality. I am open to use ASP.NET. So I am confused that regular repeater control with timer and auto refresh or any other way? (I am wondering that if I set repeater for auto update and meanwhile if user is performing some action on any status it will lost). or do I need to change my framework from ASP.NET to ASP.NET MVC (I am little afraid with MVC as I have very less knowledge regarding it and I know it has a learning curve to master ajax/Jquery things) Any suggestion how I can I achieve it in a better and feasible way? EDIT1 I am not looking for a code but I want advice to achieve this. Supporting URL's would be appreciated. EDIT2 I am open to JQuery which can regularly check the database and fill the section. But my concern is this that if user is updating any comment and want to load/feed is automatically generated. his textbox text shouldn't be disappear (just like facebook, twitter or Linkedin) EDIT3 I have seen that on Stack overflow when any other user has modified the question/answer, I got notification like this question/answer is modified. and when I clicked on that notification only that section got reloaded. I am curious to know how to achieve this functionality. So that when user is commenting on a status/post and if meanwhile someone has updated the content then it would show the other user comment. Edit4 Could someone please recommend me an example of ASP.NET MVC 3+ which can do similar kind of activity (i.e. one input box and once user insert an text it will add the item in the list (with JQuery).

I want "index.php" to read the sub-directories from a known folder, let's say "templates/" Each sub-directory will contain a file called "content.html". Or does the person that the site was created for own rights to the site and content once it has been declared 'live'?

    I see this question asked a lot in the related questions, but my need seems very simple compared to those examples, and sadly I'm just still too new at js to know what to remove...so at the risk of being THAT GUY, I'm going to ask my question... I'm trying to switch out the div contents in a box depending on the button pushed. Right now I have it working using the animatedcollapse.toggle function, but it doesn't look very good. I want to replace it with a basic fade in on click and fade in new content on next button.   • Scrolling RelativeLayout- white border over part of the content

    I have a fairly simply Fragment that adds a handful of colored ImageViews to a RelativeLayout. There are more images than can fit on screen, so I implemented some custom scrolling. However, When I scroll around, I see that there is an approximately 90dp white border overlapping part of the content right where the edges of the screen are before I scroll. It is obvious that the ImageViews are still being created and drawn properly, but they are being covered up. How do I get rid of this? I have tried: Changing both the RelativeLayout and FrameLayout to WRAP_CONTENT, FILL_PARENT, MATCH_PARENT, and a few combinations of those. Setting the padding and margins of both layouts to 0dp. Also I need to add filtering to the page, for example each content-type should have a set of tags and the filter needs to filter through these tags.   • Flash object wont load inside the application but loads in separated file.

    I have a Flash object that loads fine in a static sample HTML but doesnt inside the application. I saw something interesting in firebug. When the page loads the object is loaded two times. In the first one I get a Partial Response status but the content-type of the package is right. In the second time the whole package is transfered but the content-type is wrong! I am using apache 2.2.14.

  • Need Google Map InfoWindow Hyperlink to Open Content in Overlay (Fusion Table Usage)

When the map is clicked, the info window pops up with a bunch of content including a hyperlink to open up a website with a form in it. I would like to utilize a function like fancybox to open up this link "form" in an overlay. I have read that fancybox doesn't support calling the function from within an iframe, and was wondering if there was a way to pass the link data to the DOM and trigger the fancybox (or another overlay option) in another way?
