• What is UEFI and Secure Boot? How do they affect Ubuntu?

  Discussions and reports about UEFI and Secure Boot has cropped up in many Linux circles, but can anyone summarize it's impacts on Ubuntu and how it affects the general users? I know that UEFI and Secure Boot are separate (not interchangeable), with Secure Boot being a part of the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface BIOS specification. PS I do know how it affects Ubuntu, this question is for the benefit of public knowledge.

• Can I name a team with the name of their city to avoid trademark issues?

  I was wondering, if you want to make a NBA game on smartphones, without the license held by EA, the first solution seems to name your teams with a different name, such as "Chicragro Brulls" (this is just for the example), but would it be possible to just call your team with the name of the city, such as "Chicago vs. Dallas" ? I know the first solution was chosen by Pro Evolution Soccer, would you know any other game that don't use a license?

  Im building a portfolio website that uses full screen background images slideshow that are cropped to fit using a js plugin. To give the minimum amount of cropping whats the best ratio to make the images ? ie i know 13" macbooks are around 13:7 (when taking into account about 100px for the browser bar) but does that scale up on 15",24",17" displays ? I know there are charts showing the most common dimensions but they just show a range of sizes and thats categorized by groups rather than actual dimensions

• Which ebook format is better to read programming books on ipad [closed]

  I tried reading the pdf books on ipad but i don't feel cpmfortable after reading 40 odd pages. don't know why. I just want to know is there any other format which can sooth the eys and behave exactly like hard books. Any other ebooks reader which is better than ipad.   I am curious to know why do companies hand you a blank paper and ask you to write code? This confuses me, because these days intellisense, google, stackoverflow etc are common sources to look up syntax and / or IDE gives you a colored indicator if your syntax is wrong. I usually get stressed out during these situations. I am curious to know opinions of other developers. I have the default firefox installation and chromium, but I don't know the installation path for any of them, and couldn't find them among the usual suspects (/usr/bin, /usr/lib).   I'm getting the following error from my Ubuntu server: exim paniclog /var/log/exim4/paniclog on (my server FQDN) has non-zero size, mail system might be broken. I found a solution on the web here. Basically, I just need erase the paniclog by entering the following code: sudo rm /var/log/exim4/paniclog So, I know how to get rid of the error, but I don't know how it started, and how to not let it happen again. • Login keyring box frozen

  I'm new to ubuntu and I'm afraid I've done something really stupid. After booting, When prompted to enter a password to unlock my login keyring, I tried to enter in my password, but it won't let me. I can move my cursor but everything else is frozen. I tried to access the terminal by using Ctrl + Alt + F2, I entered my login and password from there and it worked, I just don't know what to do afterwards. Don't know what other information I can provide other than the fact that I am using Ubuntu 10.04
