• IIS Digest repeatedly asking for authentication

  I have a development copy of an ASP.NET intranet site checked out and running on my local machine. We're using digest authentication to allow users to log in using their active directory accounts. On my development copy only, Digest sometimes will repeatedly prompt for login information usually ~9 times per page request. After repeatedly logging in (or it also works to cancel out of 8 out of the 9 prompts), I can use the site as normal. I cannot pinpoint what is triggering the issue. Sometimes this problem triggers upon the next page request, sometimes after I edited/saved/refreshed a page, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Each prompt triggers several logon (Event ID 4624 & 4672) security events in the Events Viewer. Shortly after each burst of logon events, I'll see a burst of logoff events (Event ID A co-worker who has a nearly an identical setup (Windows 7, IIS 7) is not experiencing the issue. Our production copy (that is running on a different server) also does not experience the issue. We've tried to compare our settings in IIS, not really finding any differences. I'm using chrome but I've experienced the issue in other browsers.

• Central Authentication For Windows, Linux, Network Devices

  I'm trying to find a way to centralize user management & authentication for a large collection of Windows & Linux Servers, including network devices (Cisco, HP, Juniper). Options include RADIUS/LDAP/TACACS/... Idea is to keep track with staff changes, and access towards these devices. Preferably a system that is compatible with both Linux, Windows & those network devices. Seems like Windows is the most stubborn of them all, for Linux & Network equipment it's easier to implement a solution (using PAM.D for instance). Should we look for an Active Directory/Domain Controller solution for Windows? Fun sidenote; we also manage client systems, that are often already in a domain. Trust-relationships between Domain Controllers isn't always an option for us (due to client security restrictions). I'd love to hear fresh ideas on how to implement such a centralized authentication "portal" for those systems.

• How can I refactor out needing so many for-loops in rails?

  I need help refactoring this multi-loop thing. Here is what I have: Campaign has_many Contacts Campaign also has many templates for EVent (Email, Call, and Letter). I need a list of all the Emails, Calls and Letters that are "overdue" for every Contact that belongs to a Campaign. Overdue is determined by a from_today method which looks at the date the Contact was entered in the system and the number of days that needs to pass for any given Event. from_today() outputs the number of days from today that the Event should be done for a given Contact. Here is what I've done, it works for all Emails in a Campaign across all contacts. I was going to try to create another each do loop to change the class names. • Samba4/Ubuntu Shares Incorrectly Available to All Users

  I've got my Ubuntu server working with Samba4 and got it set up as the Primary domain controller on my network with AD and all that goodness. However, I'm trying to get my Samba configuration to work with the users and groups I've defined with the Active Directory tools from Windows. For instance, I've got a share X which I want users A and B (as part of the 'management' group, known as LLGrpManager in my setup) to see, but no body else. However, after making changes to the configuration, restarting Samba, I test by connecting to the share with my Mac over Samba as user 'C' which isn't part of the management group, and I can, incorrectly, see the X share. I've tried alsorts of combinations of specifying the group with no luck at all. I've got a feeling that my global config might be too lenient or something to do with file permissions but being a bit green, I'm without clue. • Can Windows logoff events be tracked?

  I'm working on an application to track network user logon/logoff events in an Active Directory domain; the application will work by auditing security logs on domain controllers. Auditing logon events can get somewhat tricky, but it can succesfully be done. My problem: how can I track logoff events? Based on some research I've done, it looks like these events are only logged locally on workstations, but not on DCs; also, the "lastLogoff" attribute exists on AD user objects, but it's not actually used by anyone. This is a very specific question: is something logged on DCs when a user logs off from a domain workstation? To clarify: I'm not intereseted in other auditing mehods, I can't deploy logon/logoff scripts and I can't install anything anywhere; I also know opened and closed network sessions are logged, but this is not what I'm looking for. I need to audit interactive logons and logoffs to domain workstations, and I can do this by only reading domain controllers security logs; reading each workstation's local event logs is out of question. If this can't be done, it's ok; but I need a clear answer on that. Can this be done? If yes, how?

• Using OSX home directories from linux

  I'm running an OSX (Snow Leopard) Server with OpenDirectory, which is nothing else than a modified OpenLDAP with some Apple-specific schemas. However, I want to reuse this directory on some of my Linux (Debian Squeeze) boxes. It's no problem to authenticate against OSXs LDAP Server, this works fine already. What I struggle with is the way the home folders are specified in OSX. If I query the passwd config on one of my linux machines, the OSX imported entries are looking like this myaccount:x:1034:1026:Firstname Lastname:/Network/Servers/hostname.example.com/Volumes/MyShare/Users/myaccount:/bin/bash While those network home folders might be fine for OSX-Clients, I don't want those server based paths on my linux machines. I saw that there is an NFSHomeDirectory Attribute in the OSX User inspector, but if I change this the whole user home path gets changed. Since my users should be able to login on both systems, OSX and Linux, this is not what I want. Does anyone have an idea how I must configure OSX to make my linux machines use home folders like /net/myaccount and leave the configuration for OSX clients untouched?

  I am having some issues involving Parallel for loops and adding to a List. The problem is, the same code may generate different output at different times. I have set up some test code below. In this code, I create a List of 10,000 int values. 1/10th of the values will be 0, 1/10th of the values will be 1, all the way up to 1/10th of the values being 9. After setting up this List, I setup a Parallel for loop that iterates through the list. If the current number is 0, I add a value to a new List. After the Parallel for loop completes, I output the size of the list. The size should always be 1,000. Most of the time, the correct answer is given. However, I have seen 3 possible incorrect outcomes occur: The size of the list is less than 1,000 An IndexOutOfRangeException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); An ArgumentException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); The message for the ArgumentException given was: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds. What could be causing the errors? Is this a .Net bug? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Please try the code for yourself. If you do not get an error, try it a few times. • Why don't I have a loop error with these redirects?

  I know this may seem a bit of a question in reverse, but I actually don't seem to have a problem I just want to make sure before I proceed. I have 2 domains domain1.com and domain2.com and a directory my_directory at domain2.com. I have domain2.com setup as an "add on domain" in the cpanel account of domain1.com so that when I go to domain2.com I am taken to domain1.com/my_directory but the browser shows domain2.com in the addressbar so it looks and acts like and is a separate site. However when people browse to domain1.com/directory I want the address bar to show domain2.com not domain1.com/directory. So I put a redirect in the htaccess file to redirect domain1.com/directory to domain2.com and it works perfectly, but I think it shouldnt and I'm worried I've done something wrong. My question is this: domain2.com was already redirected to domain1.com/directory in the first place (I see the redirect in my cpanel under addon domains) so by adding the second redirect in the htaccess file I should be creating a loop! Could somebody please set my mind at rest and show me why not?

• Using CURL within a loop to download a file, 1st one works, 2nd one times out

  Morning all, I am using CURL to download an image file within a loop. The first time it runs fine and I see the image appear in the directory. The second time it fails with a timeout, despite it being a valid URL. Can anyone suggest why it always fails on the 2nd time and how to fix it? When it finds the "title" key, I need to add those to an array. Then the next sections that would use the "gallery" key needs to be in its own array until it finds another "title" key. Then the "gallery" keys after that into their own array. I am using this a UITableView section titles and content. So, the NSDictionary above should have one NSArray *titles; array, and two other arrays each containing the galleries that came after the title. I have tried using a for loop but I just can't seem to get it right. And ideas would be appreciated.

• getent passwd fails, getent group works?

  I've almost got my AD integration working completely on my OpenSUSE 12.1 server. I have a OpenSUSE 11.4 system successfully integrated into our AD environment. (Meaning, we use ldap to authenticate to AD directory via kerberos, so we can login to our *nix systems via AD users, using name service caching daemon to cache our passwords and groups). Also, important to note these systems are in our lan, ssl authentication is disabled. I am almost all the way there. Nss_ldap is finally authenticating with ldap server (as /var/log/messages shows), but right now, I have another problem: getent passwd & getent shadow fails (shows local accounts only), but getent group works! Getent group shows all my ad groups! I copied over the relavent configuration files from my working OpenSUSE 11.4 box: /etc/krb5.conf /etc/nsswitch.conf /etc/nscd.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/sssd/sssd.conf /etc/pam.d/common-session-pc /etc/pam.d/common-account-pc /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc /etc/pam.d/common-password-pc I didn't modify anything between the two. I really don't think I need to modify anything, because getent passwd, getent shadow, and getent group all works fine on the OpenSUSE11.4 box. Attempting to restart nscd service unfortunately didn't do much, and niether did running /usr/sbin/nscd -i passwd. Do any of you admin-gurus have any suggestions? Honestly, I'm happy I made it this far. I'm almost there guys!

• Flash AS3 button eventlistener array bug

  Hi there, this is my first time posting a question here. I have an array of 12 buttons on a timeline that when first visiting that part of the timeline, get a CLICK eventlistener added to them using a for loop. All of them work perfectly at that point. When you click one it plays a frame label inside the specific movieClip and reveals a bio on the corresponding person with a close button and removes the CLICK eventlisteners for each button, again using a for loop. The close button plays a closing animation, and then the timeline goes back to the first frame (the one with the 12 buttons on it) and the CLICK eventlisteners are re-added, but now only the first 9 buttons of the array work. There are no output errors and the code to re-add the eventlisteners is exactly the same as the first time that works. I am completely at a loss and am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. • Add single sign-on into existing web app

  Apologies if this isn't the best site, I've search for an answer but can't find anything quite right. I don't actually now the correct terminology I should be using here, so any pointers will be appreciated. I have a web application that accessed by many different users across different organisations. Access is provided by each user having a unique username/password which is stored in SQL (database fields are customerID, userID, username). Some organisations are now asking if we can change this to allow "Active Directory single sign-on" so that users don't need to remember yet another set of login details. From research I can see how this is achieved using OpenAuth and Google (etc), but I know hardly anything about AD and can't find much information on this (again I'm sure it helps when you know the terminology). Is this request even possible to achieve, given that most users will be from different (and unrelated) organisations? I saw on a Microsoft Build video not long ago that there is some kind of replication service for AD to allow Cloud authentication. Is this what I should be aiming for?

• A single AD user can't log into a single Mac bound to the domain (DirectoryServices error). How can I resolve this?

  On our campus, we have about 60 Macs joined to our Active Directory domain. Most users have no problems logging into Macs, as long as their accounts are configured correctly. However, we have one particular user who is unable to log in to just some of the Macs. He has no problem with most of them, but there is one group of them (all built from the same image) that he can't log in to. The machine in question is running OS X 10.6.2. The relevant entries from secure.log are below, with the hostname and username redacted. • adding a class when link is clicked from Wordpress loop

  I am trying to isolate and add a class to a clicked anchor tag. The tags are getting pulled from a Wordpress loop. I can write JQuery to remove the "static" class, but it is removing the class from all tags in the div rather than just the one clicked and not adding the "active" class. • Visual Studio Linked Files Directory Structure

  I have two versions of a project. One for Silverlight and one for .NET. The SL project has the vast majority of the code base in it. I want to globally add all files from the SL project into the .NET version as linked files. I've managed to do so successfully like this in the csproj file for the .NET version: <Compile Include="..\MyProj.Common.SL\**\*.cs" Exclude="..\MyProj.Common\Properties\**"> Unfortunately, this adds all the files right to the root of my project... so I end up with a long unreadable list of linked files in the .NET project. I really really really don't want to have to maintain an entire duplicate directory structure by hand and deal with directory name changes and file name changes and whatnot. So, is there any way to have Visual Studio preserve the directory structure when adding linked files in the wildcard manner above? Or is there at least a way of making it group all the linked files together under a directory in the .NET project like MyProj.Common.SL.Links? The very closest I've come is to set the <Visible>false</Visible> under the <Compile> tag, which effectively removes the long unreadable list of 300+ files....but unfortunately this screws up Resharper, which no longer sees those files as valid and it goes crazy on all the projects that reference the .NET project. If I could figure out a way of making Resharper not get all messed up, that would be an acceptable solution too... Any suggestions? Thanks.

• Matrix "Zigzag" Reordering

  I have an NxM matrix in Matlab that I would like to reorder in similar fashion to the way JPEG reorders its subblock pixels: (referenced from here) I would like the algorithm to be generic such that I can pass in a 2D matrix with any dimensions. I am a C++ programmer by trade and am very tempted to write an old school loop to accomplish this, but I suspect there is a better way to do it in Matlab.

• NANT: ReplaceToken, loop over all properties defined in build

  Hi, Is it possible to loop over all the properties and replace all token which correspond to them? For example, if I have three properties defined, a,b,c, I want to replace all three tokens @a@, @b@, @c@ . I however do not want to set up the filterchain manually as properties may be added/removed later on. I can accomplish this using a custom nant task, but is ther a way to do this through a build file alone. Thanks,
