• Is there a global inbox for android?

  I'm a Blackberry fan and I have been aching to get a phone with a better UI (and not the jesusPhone). I was looking at the Android platform and find it quite fun to play with. However, one of the crucial elements of my BB that I love to death is the global inbox of all my email accounts. (not to mention the BB messenger, but I can live without that). Is there an addon or does the android have this feature natively? I played with my friend's Verizon Droid, and she couldn't tell me. Thanks!

• Saving a compressed text attachment results in empty file

  I have a text document with compressed text in it, the text is auto generated by a program. The text document is fine on my machine (Vista 32-bit), and can be used normally. The other person can also create and use these files just fine. (XP 32-bit) However when I email it to someone else (Outlook 2003 on both machines) the attachment is sent fine (5kb) but when the other person tries to save it somewhere, the saved file is empty. (64b) At first I thought Outlook didn't like compressed text files (security risk maybe?), but I can receive the text files just fine. Is there a setting somewhere on the other persons machine that tells Outlook not to trust compressed text? Can anyone think of a reason why these files are being saved as empty text documents?

  I need to migrate our Sherweb.com exchange 2007 services to a Google Apps account. For the process I am really not sure.. I understand I should start with creating aliases for all email accounts within the exchange server, in Google Apps, and here I'm not sure how am I supposed to explain the Exchange that the DNS have changed without losing emails.'' Second thing is: How can I safely move the up-to 3GB mailboxes from the Exchange server to the new Google Apps accounts? Must it be with Outlook data files? If so, how do I actually upload the data files into the Google Apps account? And if not, what would be a proper way to do so? Would really appreciate any kind of help.

• download/export emails from webmail

  hello, I'm just switching my hosts and I want to move the emails from my accounts too. In order to have my current emails on the new host I want to download/export them and to import at the other host. In order to do this I use one of the webmail (squirrelmail, roundcube, horde) clients available on my current host. The problem is that except for roundcube, I don't see any download/export option available. And in roundcube I can only select one email at a time and download it as eml. My question is how do I export/download all the emails from one account and import them at the new host? I know this is possible because I remember doing this some time ago using squirrelmail, but I can't find anything related to this now. Thank you.

• How can I set Out-Of-Office in a shared mailbox

  I would want to set the out-of-office automatic response to all emails that arrive to our [email protected]. currently in the Outlook, I only have one mailbox (the user mailbox) but it has 2 shared mailboxes setup. I have tried to create a Rule that says: for all email received on account [email protected] forward to user [email protected] and make that user to set up the Out-of-office message, but it simply did not work, and I suspect that the rules only apply to the user account and not the shared account... How can I set Out-Of-Office in this shared mailbox ?

• Send notification from HTTP bot (RESTful service or whatever)

  I have very simple bot that gathers and parses web pages. It's on a machine in network, behind NAT (so I cannot setup a web server, for example). I don't have MTA set up. The bot should notify me about changes in parsed pages (once in a hour or two, to one recipient). How can this be done? Is there any RESTful email gateways, like SMS ones? I can set up him a twitter account and use curl to post statuses/DM, but it's a very temporary bot.

• Postfix - How to configure to send these emails?

  I want my mailserver to send mail from my local application "from" any user supplied email address "to" my own address, say "[email protected]". The MX records for "mysite.com" actually point to a different server, even though the outgoing mainserver is running with mydomain set as "mysite.com". Perhaps this is part of the problem? postfix is currently causing a SMTPRecipientsRefused error within the python application. Can anyone point me to what to change in the configuration? • Afraid computer is not secure

  I have recently implemented LastPass as a secure password manager. When I changed the password for my email address an associated account ([email protected]) that i had never seen before came up in association with my account. It asked me if i wanted to change password for my account and the "smithfaketester" account I used Google to try and find out what is going on, but came up empty. I am afraid my computer is bot net-ed. Any input is greatly appreciated. I have used google to search for reasons why this fake account was coming up but I did not find any meaningful info.

• How to Setup Ubuntu Mail Server with Google Apps?

  I have a domain, let's call it foobar.com. All of the MX records for foobar.com point to Google's mail servers because I am using Google Apps for your domain to manage it. It's great because everyone gets all the advantages of GMail, but our e-mail addresses aren't @gmail.com. I also have a server. Primarily, it's a web server, but it also serves other things. One of the things it serves is the web site for foobar.com and also sites for various virtual hosts such as shop.foobar.com and forum.foobar.com. The server is running Ubuntu 8.04, because I like using LTS releases in production. The thing is, there are various applications running on the server that need the ability to send out emails. Various applications, like the cron jobs, send me e-mails in case of errors. Some of the web applications need to send e-mail to users when they forget their passwords, to confirm new registered users, etc. Lastly, it's nice to be able to send e-mail from the command line using the mail command, or mutt. How can I setup the mail on the web server to go through the Google apps mail servers? I don't need the web server to receive mail, though that would be cool. I do need it to be able to send mail as any legitimate address @foobar.com. That way the forum application can send mails with [email protected] in the from field, and the ecommerce application will have [email protected] in the from field. Also, by sending the mail through the Google servers, we can avoid a lot of the problems with the e-mails being blocked by various spam filters on the web. Google's SMTP servers are trusted a lot more than mine would be. I'm pretty good with administering Linux systems, but I am absolutely brain dead when it comes to e-mail. I need step by step directions from beginning to end on how to set this up. I need to know every thing to install, and every single change to the configuration files that is necessary. I have tried following various howtos and guides in the past, but none of them were quite right. Either they didn't work at all, or they offered a configuration that is not what I wanted. • e-mail no longer coming to aol inbox since I opened a Hotmail account [closed]

  I recently set up an email account with Hotmail. I have used AOL e-mail for years and would like to keep this as my main source for sending/receiving e-mail. When I set up the Hotmail account there was an option to have all my e-mail accounts forwarded to the Hotmail inbox. I set up this option and the page promised that all incoming mail would still be visible in the original inbox, in this case my AOL account. Well everything does come to the Hotmail account, the only problem is that I no longer receive these e-mails in my primary/desired location which is AOL. I went back and made sure the box was checked that provided the option through Hotmail that said "leave a copy of my messages on the server" (AOL) How do I get the e-mail that is being forwarded to Hotmail from my AOL account to still be visible in AOL, it should be in AOL inbox as that is the original destination but it is gone. Suggestions?

  I'm trying to use plain-text emails to submit posts to my blog that's hosted on Blogger. I've set my email client to use plain-text but every time I send a post, Blogger hard wraps it instead of letting the text just flow. I've tried this with different mail clients and gotten the same results. I'm 100% sure that I'm sending plain text each time. Does anyone know how to get Blogger to quit doing this? Sigh. Maybe I'll switch to Wordpress...

  I'm regularly receiving emails from a well-known public website that read as plain text without carriage breaks or effective hyperlinks. My email client is Thunderbird. Thunderbird helpsite doesn't display an answer. And I'm reluctant to complain to the website if the problem is at my end. • Sendmail: external alias not receiving relayed mail under certain circumstances.

  I have set up an alias in /etc/mail/aliases like this: user: [email protected] This relay DOES work when I telnet to example.com 25 and send mail to [email protected] (where example.com is my domain); it indeed turns up in [email protected] inbox. Also mail sent from my server at example.com is generally deliverable to this same email address, [email protected]. HOWEVER, the relay DOES NOT work when I send mail from [email protected] to [email protected], expecting it to be relayed back to [email protected]. The mail.log shows it being received and sent just fine, so I guess it is being blocked by gmail for some reason. Why though? As I said, gmail generally does except mail from this server.

• Thunderbird 3.1.7 file system and file extensions

  I have lost all email messages and folders in my Thunderbird program. Where can I look for them? The messages were organized in folders for several years. My system is Windows XP. I have looked in the Thunderbird Profiles default profile folder. I can see Inbox and Trash but none of the other folders I have set up are visible. I cannot directly open Inbox or Trash so I don't know if my lost messages are in these folders. Others in the Community Forum seem to have the same problem but no one has answered them or me. • "IP May Be Forged" - Sendmail Warning

  CentOS 5.x | SendMail 8 Can I get clarification on what exactly the warning "IP may be forged" means and what conditions cause it? I recently configured SendMail to relay email from my exchange server and it's showing that warning in the logs. The messages get delivered fine but I don't like the warnings. I originally thought that there was an inconsistency between the servername used in the EHLO statement from Exchange and the respective PTR record for the source IP for Exchange. But upon examining a packet capture, I see exchange using "EHLO domain.com" and that the source IP has a PTR of "domain.com". Maybe sendmail doesn't like that the greeting only has the domain? -M

• Is it possible to spoof the From: field in Outlook?

  I am wondering if it is possible to change the From: field (not just the reply-to) in Outlook (specifically in the 2010 beta, but also interested in other versions). I am just moving over from Linux and am used to being able to do this quite simply in some clients. At first I thought it was the option of "Other E-Mail address" on the From drop down menu in a compose window, but that seems to do... nothing! I want to be able to do this so I can have email look like it comes from a domain I own but do not wish to run an SMTP server on.

• postfix, webmin installed. whats next?

  Im trying to get imap running and dont know the problem. i a developer, not a network guy.( our network guy left) we had postfix installed already for outgoing mail on 8 domains. we only had incoming on 1 domain. but that mail server is located on a different ip. now we want incoming on another domain, but we dont want it on another ip, we want it on the same ip as the website itself. I installed dovecot today because my hosting company said i needed it. it seems to run fine. do i need dovecot AND postfix? or are they the same thing? dovecot does not show up anywhere in webmin what i cant seem to figure out how to do is add a user email so i can try to telnet in on port 143. i think i have evrything installed, just need the next step.... sorry for the newb question

• How do I change the default browser in lotus notes when opening links in emails?

  I can't seem to figure out how to change the default browser for email/sametime links from opening with lotus notes to say chrome/firefox/ie. All links open with a new tab in lotus notes, which always gives scripting errors as it appears to be using ie as it's rendering engine to open up webpages. Is there something in the preferences that I'm missing that I'm not seeing? I've hunted around for awhile and am not seeing an option to change it. I've also tried to change it within the internet options for default applications, but nothing's working. I'm using lotus notes 8 on windows xp if that helps anyone helping me.

• Is it still "wrong" to require TLS on incoming SMTP messages

  According to the STARTTLS Spec Section 5: A publicly-referenced SMTP server MUST NOT require use of the STARTTLS extension in order to deliver mail locally. This rule prevents the STARTTLS extension from damaging the interoperability of the Internet's SMTP infrastructure. A publicly-referenced SMTP server is an SMTP server which runs on port 25 of an Internet host listed in the MX record (or A record if an MX record is not present) for the domain name on the right hand side of an Internet mail address. However, this spec was written in 1999, and considering it's 2014, I'd expect most SMTP clients, servers, and relays to have some kind of implementation of STARTTLS. How much email can I expect to lose if I require TLS for incoming messages?

• Exchange 2007 - One server set-up

  I'm trying to set up Exchange 2007 with just one server (not the Transport + Hub configuration, just a Hub). I installed the server with the Hub Role, and it's not accepting SMTP. I changed SMTP so that it relays all emails (it's just an internal server for only internal mails). When I send to username@mydomain in OCW, it works fine. When I send to the same email address via SMTP, it goes to the badmail folder. What did I miss in the Hub set-up?

• Vacation scheduler/viewer

  I'm looking for a solution that allows multiple persons to put plan and notify their vacation by putting it in their electronic calendar and invite a dedicated "robot" email. On the other side I should be able to get a quick overview of the vacation for each person and do a print out that allows me to put it on a board. Example: John puts his winter vacation for week 7 into his calendar and invite [email protected]. Ben does the same thing for week 4 and 5 and invites [email protected]. Dilbert host the [email protected] and prints out and overview for the next 3 months. Each person's vacation is either stated by name or/and color on the print out. I would like to do the thing with standard business software like Outlook 2010 without installing too many softwares. But at the same time it should be easy and quick to make the print outs without too much fiddling Am I dreaming ?

• SMTP Server Issue in intersystem cache

  I am facing an issue when I am sending Email from intersystems cache. I am able to send the mail, with out any problem the first time. But the second time when I am trying to send the smtp server is not responding properly. The first Helo command is sent. I recieve the confirmation 220 from the server. But I do not recieve the Message 250. So the next command is giving me the error 503, 5.5.2 "Send helo first" message. I am unable to find out why the server is not responding the second time.

• How to change password schema for Dovecot user authentication for an already existing mail server

  Hello, I have an email server setup on Debian Lenny with Postfix, Dovecot, SASL and MySQL. Currently, the password scheme in my dovecot-sql.conf file is set to: CRYPT default_pass_scheme = CRYPT I would like to globally change the scheme to something stronger like SSHA, or MD5-CRYPT and re-hash all passwords with SSHA. What is the best way to do this? The Dovecot wiki mentions how passwords that don't follow the default scheme defined in dovecot-sql.conf can be prefixed with "{ssha}password", but I couldn't see anything regarding changing an already-existing scheme to a new one for all passwords that are already in the database. Thanks for your help!
