  Events and their underlying mechanism "Delegates" are very powerful tools of a developer and Event Driven Programming is one of the main Programming Paradigms. Its wiki definition is "event-driven programming or event-based programming is a programming paradigm in which the flow of the program is determined by events?i.e., sensor outputs or user actions (mouse clicks, key presses) or messages from other programs or threads." That means, your program can go its own way sequentially and in the case of anything that requires attention is done (when an event fires) by somebody or something, you can response it by using that event's controller method (this mechanism is like interrupt driven programming in embedded systems). There are many real world scenarios for events, for example, ASP.NET uses events to catch a click on a button or in your app, controller has notice of a change in UI by handling events exposed by view (in MVC pattern). • Exit link tracking with timestamped logs on 3rd party content

  I want to track clicks on exit links, that are placed in 3rd party content, for example on Twitter. I also need the timestamps of the clicks. Google Analytics can't be embedded in 3rd party content. Another solution is to use a URL shortener like bit.ly. However, bit.ly or goo.gl don't log the time of the click with any better granularity than a full day. su.pr shows the time for the past day in its analytics graph. The analytics download only includes the day, not the time. cli.gs was touted as having the most detailed analytics, yet it doesn't show the time either, and forces the user through a preview page. Any ideas?

In the development environment, this is the jazn-data.xml file. After you configure the jazn-data.xml file using the editors, you can run the application in Integrated WebLogic Server and the contents of the policy store will be added to the domain-level store, the system-jazn-data.xml file, while the test users will be migrated to the embedded LDAP server that Integrated WebLogic Server uses for its identity store. The domain-level store allows you to test the security implementation by logging on as test users that you have created. looks like above part did went well with me, apart from following all instruction provided in doc, I need to create users from adminconsole in security-realms-Users and Groups sections to successfully login to pages.

  I have Crystal Reports 2008. This is the full application, not the Crystal Reports extension embedded into Visual Studio. This morning I pulled a solution with many projects and many crystal report files into Visual Studio 2010 for the first time. This application originated in VS2003, migrated to VS2005/.NET 2.0, migrated again to VS2008 (still .NET 2.0) and now migrated to VS2010 (still .NET 2.0). • Universal navigation menu across domains - would it be considered duplicate content?

  Across different sites on different second-level domains exists a universal navigation bar with a collection of roughly 30 links. This universal bar is exactly the same for every page on each domain. The bar's HTML, CSS and JavaScript are all stored in a subfolder for each domain and the HTML is embedded upon serving the page and is not being injected on the client side. None of the links use any rel directives and are as vanilla as can be. My question is about Google's duplicate content rule. Would something like this be considered duplicate content? Matt Cutt's blog post about duplicate content mentions boilerplate repetition, but then he mentions lengthy legalese. Since the text in this universal bar is brief and uses common terms, I wonder if this same rule applies. If this is considered duplicate content, what would be a good way to correct the problem?

• How to code UI / HUD in Entity System?

  I think I already got the idea of the Entity System inspired by Adam Martin (t-machine). I want to start using this for my next project. I already know the basic of Entity, Components, and Systems. My problem is how to handle UI / HUD. For example, a quest window, skill window, character info window, etc. How do you handle UI events (eg. pressing a button)? These are stuff that doesn't need to be processed every frame. Currently, I'm using MVC to code UI but I don't think that'll be compatible for Entity System. I've read that Entity System is embedded on a larger OOP. I don't know if UI is outside of ES or not. How do I approach this one?

  New to Linux and having minor issues :/ . I followed this guide initially but did not recieve the proper output and did not show my ATI Radeon HD 5000 temp or fan speed. Then used this guide, same problems exhibited. No issues installing and no errors. I think its not reading i2c for some reason. The proprietary driver is installed and functioning correctly according fglrxinfo. I can use aticonfig commands and view both temp and fan. Any ideas on how to get it working under 'sensors'? • Thumbnailers of text and ogg files

  I use ubuntu 12.04 and I can see in nautilus thumbnailers of ogg (with embedded artwork) and text files, just like in figure It's a nice feature. I have a slow machine and I've installed Arch with LXDE and pcmanfm. I would like the same thumbnailers, but I can only see a few of them like in the figure I've installed nautilus, thunar, spacefm... and lots of different thumbnailers in my Arch machine, but I haven't be able to see the thumbnailers of text and ogg files. I think that maybe ubuntu uses a patched nautilus version with extended capabilities or something like this. Any idea? Thanks.

• Should a programmer know Linux ?

  I'm a PHP/Python programmer learning Java and C#(.NET). My main OS is windows 7 but I've used Linux and currently dual-booting with Ubuntu. My Linux knowledge however, is pretty limited. I can work with the command line on simple tasks but that's pretty much it. I don't do any shell scripting, don't know very well the most important commands, nor the system in general. My interests are web development, mobile apps and maybe some embedded stuff in the future. Should I get myself familiarized more with Linux ? Even if at the moment I'm not that interested in it? Is it a must for future job positions considering my field of interest? Thank you.

• Data Storage Options

  When I was working as a website designer/engineer I primarily used databases for storage of much of my dynamic data. It was very easy and convenient to use this method and seemed like a standard practice from my research on the matter. I'm now working on shifting away from websites and into desktop applications. What are the best practices for data storage for desktop applications? I ask because I have noticed that most programs I use on a personal level don't appear to use a database for data storage unless its embedded in the program. (I'm not thinking of an application like a word processor where it makes sense to have data stored in individual files as defined by the user. Rather I'm thinking of something more along the lines of a calendar application which would need to store dates and event info and such where accessing that information would be much easier if stored in a database... at least as far as my experience would indicate.) • YouSendIt Alternative?

  Looking for a reasonably priced alternative to YouSendIt's exorbitant pricing for an embedded, unbranded (i.e. no "Uploads by SomeCompany" or at the very least, discrete, subtle co-branding) file upload solution for my client's print shop Website. To do what we want to do with YouSendIt, we're looking at a corporate account of $995 USD plus $29.99 USD monthly fee, that is only sold pro-rated, so you have to buy the entire year's worth. To me, this is just unacceptable considering the commodity pricing of storage and bandwidth nowadays. For data, we're looking at roughly 10MB per upload, with perhaps 250-1000 uploads per month, with transient data storage of no more than 30 days (and more than likely 1-2 business days) for a total of 10 GB transfer (upload) and 10 GB transfer (download, to the print shop) at the very max each month. Any ideas? Everything I've found through searching seems to be geared more towards personal file sharing and not for embedding into Websites. Thanks
